Thank you very much.
The Room was very clean, and we loved the soothing sound of the river and the lush, tree-covered view. Having a private bath was also a great perk. The dining area was a private room as well, so we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in a relaxed setting, though the portions were a bit large for us. After breakfast, we also unexpectedly enjoyed the complimentary coffee service in the lobby. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, we were able to unwind and take our time.

This is my first time visiting the Onsen at Mount Akagi.
I visited after learning for the first time that there is an Onsen at Mt. Akagi. The Ryokan entrance is at the bottom of a very steep slope, so I carefully drove down and arrived! A friendly staff member came out to welcome me. The staff will move your car to the parking lot for you. The Room was standard, with twin beds, two chairs, and a table. I headed straight to the Onsen. All baths are private-reservation only, which is great for privacy. However, there is no open-air bath. I wish there were an open-air bath as well. The meals were average! The hearty salad was especially memorable. They also have Rooms with an in-room Onsen, so next time I’d like to upgrade and stay in one of those.

Back to Akagi Onsen again...
As we did last year, we stayed at Akagi Onsen Hotel again for a summer getaway. It had been a while since our last stay, but everything was perfect—hospitality, meals, and the Onsen. This is a Hotel you’ll want to return to again and again. We look forward to staying with you again.

The rooms, Onsen, meals, and service were all outstanding.
■Room We stayed in the Sakura Room. Everything was carefully maintained down to the smallest details, and you can truly feel how lovingly it is cared for. You can sense it even in the 안내書き and menus—the gentle warmth and softness of hand-drawn touches. It wasn’t “polished” like a luxury Hotel; instead, we were wrapped in an atmosphere that naturally brought a smile from the heart. ■Onsen It was my first time experiencing an Onsen with so much yunohana floating in it. You could feel the iron and calcium on your skin, and after bathing my skin was surprisingly smooth and radiant. We used both the in-Room bath and the private baths “Momo” and “Ao”; all of them had abundant yunohana, with just the right temperature—wonderful. The non-Onsen hinoki bath in our Room was also exceptional. The water from the faucet felt incredibly soft, and by alternating between carbonated spring water, outdoor air bathing, and the hinoki bath, we were able to fully reset. ■Meals Just like on YouTube (which we watched beforehand), a wonderful proprietress introduced each dish with enjoyable conversation. Every dish showcased high-quality ingredients, with thoughtful extra touches—truly delicious. If I had to say one thing, the white sauce for the pie was seasoned a bit gently, but overall we were extremely satisfied. Since we don’t drink alcohol, we enjoyed an amazingly delicious rice said to be made by relatives—served with an extra helping of love from the proprietress! We were completely satisfied! ■Service Wherever we saw staff inside the Hotel, they greeted us with overflowing smiles: “Please relax,” “Good night,” “Good morning.” Whether they are locals or it’s family-run, it really came through that everyone works here with genuine affection. Even getting there—climbing thrilling mountain roads and heading down steep slopes where my wife screamed from the passenger seat—became a fun memory in itself. Surrounded by babbling streams, birdsong, and the sound of flowing Onsen water, we were able to let go of everyday fatigue and burdens so easily. Both body and mind felt lighter as we headed home naturally smiling. When I’m feeling tired again someday, I’d love to come back for healing. Sorry for such a long message out of gratitude. Thank you very much.

Please note that you may need to wait to use the bath.
With only four fully private baths, they can be in high demand. However, the hot spring water quality was excellent. The meals were healthy and tasty, but there wasn’t a standout signature dish. The property was very clean, and the staff provided excellent service.

It was exactly as described in the Review.
Both the bath and the meals were exactly as described in the Review. At check-in, we were told that the water in the refrigerator was spring water and that we could drink it freely. There was a pitcher of water in the fridge, not bottled water, which surprised me a little, but it was incredibly delicious. We were also told that this water is used in the cooking. The rice was also very tasty. The final dessert at dinner, “Amber Konjac with Raw Cane Sugar and Brown Sugar,” had no konjac taste at all and a great texture. When I asked at check-out, the staff explained that they created it through trial and error so guests could enjoy something sweet without feeling guilty even when full—and because konjac may be good for gut health. It is soaked for a full day in raw cane sugar and brown sugar syrup. It may look simple, but I felt it was a dessert you can only experience here.

So close!
The bath and the meals were wonderful! However, there was a pleasant woman at reception, a terrible woman who barely guided us to our Room, and even among the Shuttle Service drivers there were very courteous, friendly people as well as cold, unfriendly ones. I believe that 80% of one’s memories of a trip to a Ryokan come down to the service attitude, so this was extremely disappointing.

Bubbling carbonated effervescence in a brown, cloudy hot spring bath.
Thank you to everyone for clearing the snow. In the town of Ogo, where the Shuttle Service picked us up, it felt like a mild spring day, but after driving 20–30 minutes into the mountains, it was a blizzard at night. The renovated interior has shower rooms, but the bathtubs have been removed; instead, guests use free private baths. This is excellent. The availability of the four private baths is shown on electronic displays on each floor—an ideal system for a property with 15 guest rooms. Perhaps due to iron oxide, the water is a cloudy brown, and carbonated bubbles rise vigorously and dance white across the surface. The safe driving of the Shuttle Service vehicle on snowy mountain roads was impressive. The staff at the dining area serving delicious meals were also warmly welcoming.

Healing Accommodation
Although there is no large public bath, there are four private baths to enjoy. The Onsen was gentle on the skin, leaving it smooth and soft. All the meals were delicious and visually stunning. The staff were all cheerful and provided excellent service. This time, I chose this accommodation and went with a friend who really liked it as well. As it is a cozy accommodation, I was able to relax completely. Next time, I would love to visit for a solo trip!

Baby-friendly Hotel (suitable for 2-month-old infants)
We stayed here for our first family trip after our child was born. Stayed at the Annex Kaede - There was a sink-like area in the hallway inside the Room, separate from the bathroom, which made preparing milk very convenient! A kettle was provided and set to 60°C for formula preparation (the staff noticed we had milk and kindly adjusted it to formula mode). Adults staying in the annex could use hot water from a dedicated lounge kettle. Cloths were also provided for wiping bottles after cooling. - A baby bath was available for rent. - Since it’s separated from other Rooms, we felt more at ease handling night cries. - The Room had a microwave, making it convenient even when starting solid foods. - Meal service speed was adjusted according to our child’s mood, which we greatly appreciated. - DVDs and picture books were well-stocked, so it seems like older children would also enjoy their stay here. Choosing this place for our first overnight stay was absolutely the right decision! Thank you so much for being kind to our child!

The impact of the cloudy hot spring was impressive, and I had an enjoyable stay.
I visited this accommodation, known for its "cloudy onsen," to see what it was like. I stayed in the Sakura maisonette-style villa with a private onsen. There are four private baths, and since all were available at check-in, I tried the Ao bath. The facility is well-maintained and clean, including the bathrooms, which felt very pleasant. The bathtub water appeared cloudy with floating particles and had a rusty smell. To my surprise upon entering, something adhered to my body—apparently calcite formed from crystallized iron and calcium according to the ryokan's explanation. Interestingly, these particles disappeared while soaking in the bath. The water temperature was not too hot, allowing for a relaxing soak—quite an intriguing experience! However, the food was just standard for an onsen ryokan meal, which was disappointing. *Note: Since this accommodation is located near the summit of Mount Akagi, access involves winding mountain roads. On this trip, I used Numata via Okutone Yukemuri Kaido and Daigo Akagi Line routes; however, these roads are narrow with many curves and are not recommended at all. It’s better to approach from southern routes.*

I had a relaxing time.
I had always wanted to visit Akagi Onsen. This is a standalone accommodation nestled in the mountains, perfect for spending time doing nothing. All four baths are private, so we could relax as a family. Each floor has panels showing the availability of the baths. We enjoyed all of them and warmed up! We hardly encountered other guests and spent our time peacefully. When we struggled with the steep slope leading to the front of the accommodation, a staff member immediately came out to guide us, which was very helpful! For those not confident in driving, it might be better to park at the lot before reaching the accommodation. Other than the steep slope, everything was perfect. I would love to stay here again! Thank you very much.

It was a very comfortable accommodation.
The Onsen was amazing. The soft, cloudy water was very relaxing, and I enjoyed having it all to myself. The bubbling effect was also quite unique. As for the meals, both dinner and breakfast were delicious, featuring carefully prepared dishes made with plenty of local ingredients. I had some sake with dinner but thought wine would pair well too. In the room, I appreciated the private space as staff only came by initially to guide me. The bedding was excellent and very comfortable to sleep on. The staff members were all polite and attentive, making me feel that this is a great hotel. Although getting to the accommodation by car can be a bit challenging, I would love to visit again if given the chance. I also grew fond of the Akagi area during my stay!

A Hotel worth repeating.
This was our first visit, and we stayed in a Japanese-style room. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is located deep in the mountains, making the journey there quite exciting. The hostess warmly welcomed us outside the entrance, which felt very comforting. Both the bath and room were extremely clean. It was my first time experiencing a cloudy hot spring bath, and it made my body feel warm and relaxed—such wonderful water! I bathed multiple times, leaving my skin smooth and soft. The meals were abundant to the point of being more than we could finish, served on beautiful dishes, and everything was incredibly delicious. This is a hotel I hope will never change over time. The hostess was lovely, and all staff members provided excellent service. Above all else, their subtle yet thoughtful hospitality stood out without feeling intrusive—it truly made for a comfortable stay. For those looking to relax at their own pace, this place is perfect! We’re already talking about staying next time in a room with its own private bath—looking forward to it!

Accommodation with an excellent private bath
This accommodation is located along the steep mountain path of Mount Akagi. The private bath here is truly exceptional. The iron-rich hot spring water was very relaxing and rejuvenating. Conversations with the staff were enjoyable, and the meals, made with plenty of local ingredients, were satisfying. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that there were no egg dishes for breakfast, which felt a bit lacking. However, the portion size was just right. I would love to visit again!

Even more comfortable now.
This was my third stay, but my first since the private baths were introduced. I used two of the four baths, both semi-open-air, and they were fantastic. The Onsen is slightly on the hotter side, but opening the windows lets in a refreshing breeze for a relaxing soak. The meals are consistently excellent, though perhaps a bit too generous in portion size. While the annex is also nice, this accommodation with its private baths might be more than sufficient—except for navigating the maze-like stairs!

The meals were very disappointing...
The milky hot spring bath was excellent. It was clean, and being able to reserve it privately allowed for a relaxing experience. However, having only one shower per bath might be slightly inconvenient for families. The facility itself was spotless, and the view of the summer mountains through the large windows was breathtaking. It felt much cooler than in urban areas, with the nostalgic sound of cicadas adding to the perfect summer atmosphere. Unfortunately, the meals were quite disappointing. Despite being in a rural area, there were few fresh vegetables, and overall it felt like an odd mix of Japanese and Western cuisine. The flavors were overly strong, overshadowing the ingredients' natural taste. None of the dishes reflected careful craftsmanship by the chef. While dinner was underwhelming, breakfast was even worse—it mostly seemed like pre-made side dishes. Even the rice lacked shine and texture; I couldn't help but feel that eating at home would have been better. The serving staff appeared to be mostly untrained part-time workers. For instance, a man's bulky watch accidentally hit my salad during service due to careless movements or they would leave while chatting unnecessarily among themselves. They didn’t seem like bad people but clearly lacked experience in hospitality service. Thank you for your hospitality; I just wish both meals and service had been more refined!

You can relax in a quiet and peaceful environment.
It was very quiet and relaxing. All four Onsen baths are private, so we could enjoy them at our own pace and relax as a couple. While public baths are nice, having a large bath all to ourselves as a family felt like the ultimate luxury. The staff were kind, friendly, and provided warm hospitality, which was very comforting. The meals were also delicious. Although we felt slightly uneasy while driving up the mountain road, it was an amazing accommodation.

Blackout curtains available upon request.
The room was very bright and pleasant with large windows. However, since there were only shoji screens, I woke up with the sunrise, which helped me get up early. Everything was perfect, and I had a comfortable stay. I would love to visit again.

Second Visit
I first visited this accommodation last September and became a fan of its cloudy hot springs, so I visited again. Since it was a weekday, it was relatively quiet. I stayed at the annex "Tsubaki." From the 3:00 PM check-in to 11:00 AM the next day, I enjoyed multiple baths and had a relaxing time. Although dinner was not originally planned to be served in the room, they kindly accommodated my request for in-room dining at short notice—thank you for your flexibility. Once again, it was a very satisfying trip!

Thank you for your patronage.
Thank you for the wonderful stay. The hostess's smile and beautiful illustrations were very comforting. The Room being a maisonette made going up and down the stairs a bit challenging, but the spacious area allowed us to relax as if we were at home. It was my first time experiencing a carbonated hot spring, and it made my skin smooth and my body warm—it was truly excellent water. I enjoyed soaking in it multiple times while admiring the view. I also used the private bath since it was available, and it was convenient to check its availability without going through the front desk. The meals were delicious, and even though I felt full, I couldn't help but eat more. I look forward to visiting again in the future. Thank you very much!

Enjoy the Cloudy Hot Spring Water
This accommodation is located within a national park on the slopes of Mount Akagi, surrounded by lush greenery. It is highly recommended for those who want to fully enjoy an Onsen experience. The hot spring water here contains rare baking soda components, making the visit truly worthwhile. The staff were friendly and shared many enjoyable stories, and the meals were not only delicious but also generously portioned, leaving us very satisfied. Many guests seem to arrive by car; however, please note that there is a steep slope in front of the accommodation's entrance (we turned back before attempting it). It might be better to park at the space near the public restroom and walk up instead. At checkout, we were kindly driven back to our parking spot in a van. We look forward to visiting again during autumn foliage season—thank you!

A stylish Onsen Ryokan with beautiful tableware and interior design.
We stayed with a one-night accommodation plan including two meals. The onsen, containing calcium carbonate, was very warming. The private baths can be checked for availability on each floor, allowing guests to enjoy them at their convenience. Meals were served in a private room, providing a calm and relaxing dining experience. The dishes were beautifully presented with seasonal tableware that was visually delightful. We enjoyed the Akagi Shamo chicken collagen hot pot; the chicken was tender, and the broth soaked into the vegetables and konjac for an incredibly delicious taste. I loved all the tableware so much that I even took photos of them. Alcohol options included whiskey, sake, and wine, while beer choices featured draft beer and craft beer. The room had a Japanese-style layout with beds included. The bed firmness was just right for comfort. Perhaps because it’s new, there were pleasant scents of tatami mats and cypress wood without any musty odors at all. The bed covers and rattan chairs added charm to the space as well. The view of the green valley from our room was stunningly beautiful, making it refreshing to wake up in the morning feeling great. It was such a wonderful accommodation! Next time we’d love to try staying at your annex as well—thank you very much!

For celebrating your parents' golden wedding anniversary
We chose this Hotel for our family trip after reading the good Reviews. Although the mountain road near the Hotel felt a bit narrow and challenging to drive, we had a very comfortable stay inside. The Room's cypress bath, Onsen bath, and private Onsen bath each had their own charm and were all wonderful. The Hotel was also very clean. I usually bring my Dyson hairdryer when traveling, but I was delighted to find that this Hotel provided ReFa hairdryers in the private baths. The meals were abundant, and I ate so much that it felt like my stomach might burst—everything was delicious! The bedding was very comfortable, allowing me to sleep soundly. One concern would be the dust on the ceiling of our Room. Since the ceiling is high, it might be difficult to clean thoroughly; however, it caught my attention and would be great if cleaned. Overall, we had an excellent experience and would love to book this Room again! My parents were also very pleased with their stay—it made for a wonderful trip for which we are grateful. Thank you! P.S. It would be convenient if we could check private bath availability from our Room.

Dinner is excellent! Breakfast is mediocre. The Onsen is good, but an open-air bath would be appreciated. Service quality varies depending on the staff.

Best value for money
It was an accommodation that pleasantly exceeded my expectations. Recently, Accommodation Fees have been skyrocketing, and to avoid the "you get what you pay for" experience, I had been staying only at so-called luxury Ryokans. However, I was surprised to find such a cost-effective accommodation still exists. I would love to visit again when the surrounding mountains are adorned with vibrant flowers in full bloom.

This was my second t...
This was my second time staying at this accommodation. Despite being in such a remarkable location, it remains impeccably maintained, which is truly impressive. The renovated bath still offers excellent water quality, but with a usage limit of about 30 minutes, I couldn't fully relax, which was a bit disappointing. However, I made the most of it by trying all the baths both at night and in the morning. The ReFa showerheads and high-performance hair dryers were also great features.

Highly recommended accommodation.
The title says it all for this accommodation! I always prioritize the quality of onsen water when traveling, but this place excelled not only in its onsen but also in its facility and hospitality. First and foremost, the onsen. I discovered this carbonated bicarbonate spring with a yellowish muddy hue while searching with my IKYU Points during an unexpected break. The water felt light yet had a profound effect on the body! According to other reviews, some guests stay here after hiking, but I was amazed by their energy as the rich quality of the water itself is quite tiring (in a good way—good onsens are known to be invigorating). Among the four private baths available, I found "Peach" to be the most concentrated as recommended by the hostess. The bathwater had a thin film with earthy mineral deposits floating near the spout, leaving my skin incredibly smooth! Next is about the facility. Recently renovated, everything from rooms to amenities was immaculate and well-equipped—not just for onsen enthusiasts but also for general travelers seeking comfort. The ice service near the baths was especially appreciated by those who enjoy drinks in their room like me. The front desk floor offers breathtaking views of Akagi Mountain's valley along with unique decor such as iron bathtubs and deer antlers. Even small touches like hidden heart designs in morning coffee cups added charm and humor. Lastly, about hospitality. The hostess’s warm personality truly stood out! Not only her but all staff members provided excellent communication that made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout our stay. Despite clear skies upon arrival, we were kindly informed about snow expected later at night—a thoughtful gesture among many others during check-in/out conversations that felt natural yet heartfelt. Of course, meals were delicious too; I regretfully couldn’t finish everything due to being so full! Overall: no downsides whatsoever—it’s astonishing how much value they offer at this price point! This was an exceptionally satisfying stay at an accommodation that will undoubtedly grow even more popular (I’ve already recommended it widely myself!). I hope they continue providing such wonderful experiences without change moving forward!

Thank you!
It was a wonderful accommodation! We brought our 5-year-old child, and the staff, who seemed experienced and fond of children, became a favorite. We stayed in the Kaede room, which had an Onsen attached to it with natural cloudy hot spring water. It seemed to be very effective for my sore feet. I would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

A great Onsen where you can soak for a long time without feeling overheated.
The water temperature is just right, allowing you to enjoy the Onsen for a long time without feeling overheated. The staff's hospitality is pleasant, and you can experience a traditional, tranquil Onsen atmosphere. Surrounded by mountains, the area is free from noise, offering a peaceful and relaxing time.
