  A wonderful auberge

  The hospitality of the couple was wonderful at this auberge. The food and drinks were delicious and enjoyable.

While buildings and equipment can be maintained for decades once built, cooking is a task that requires constant attention. Any lapse in focus, such as thinking "this should be fine," can lead to losing everything. In a hotel that prides itself on its cuisine, excellence is expected at all times!   I visited with excit...

  I visited with excitement, welcomed by the beautiful Enkianthus. I was unaware that the madam was waiting at the entrance the whole time, and I apologize for taking time to set the navigation for the next day. I was a bit nervous due to the very polite language and responses from the two of you, but at the same time, I felt a homely atmosphere and was able to relax. I was impressed by the sense of hygiene in everything. The meals were very delicious, and I could feel the confidence in the quality and preparation, as indicated on the website. While listening to your stories, I felt a deep love for the Hotel from your younger days, but I was a bit worried if we were guests who could meet the owner's expectations. Please deduct points for the unit bath, as I am not accustomed to it. I intended to see the mountains floating in the morning glow the next morning, but I slept so soundly that I woke up after the sun had risen, which was a regret. The bedding (including the bed) was so comfortable for a pillow refugee like me. All the "hospitality" made me feel extraordinary, and I had a good time. If there is another opportunity, I look forward to it.

  We are very pleased with your kind post. Thank you very much. From check-in, you were a wonderful couple, with an age close to that of the owner couple, and a courteous and gentlemanly demeanor. I hope to age gracefully like you! Even in a small Hotel, the distance with guests does not shrink. However, if you call out, we will be happy to talk. Food, travel, cars, country living are our most specialized fields. I believe you felt the homey atmosphere from these. On a personal note, I attended the main dining of a Hotel representing Japan for 10 years since I was a student. I was blessed with good times and staff, and was thoroughly taught "Social Life 101" by sommeliers and captains. It was my introduction to a wonderful adult world and the formula for beloved guests! I still remember it clearly. A pleasant tension, exciting creative cuisine, and the joy of eating! French cuisine is a very enjoyable adult world. At my Hotel, we use expensive ingredients generously and adhere to the basics, yet offer them to guests at a relaxed price. I look forward to the day we can meet again. A big impression at a small Hotel!

  A wonderful Hotel filled with heartfelt hospitality

  I visited for an adults-only trip with my working daughter. Surrounded by forest, it’s a quiet setting rich in nature. The renovated Room was spotless down to every corner, with perfect hygiene management, making our stay extremely comfortable. Dinner featured rare ingredients chosen with great care. We were shown the traceability for the Japanese Black Wagyu beef, so we could enjoy it with peace of mind. The homemade consommé soup and freshly baked bread were also outstanding. We were truly moved by the authentic full-course French meal that let us savor the natural flavors of each ingredient. At dessert time, they dimmed the lights and created a wonderful atmosphere by candlelight. In the morning, we woke to birdsong and enjoyed a relaxing time in nature. We were touched by the warm hospitality of the owner couple and were able to spend an elegant, luxurious time that left us refreshed. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

The day you stayed was during the busiest week of this August, but I fully understood that this was an important trip with your working daughter.   Highly satisfied with both dinner and breakfast.

  Although the mountain weather wasn’t great, we had a very pleasant stay. The Facility was well maintained and spotlessly clean, so it didn’t feel old at all. Dinner—kuruma prawns, filet steak, and freshly baked French bread—was excellent, and even breakfast reflected the owner’s attention to detail. Our morning walk felt wonderful! We’d love to stay again when we’re in the area. Thank you very much.

A Hotel may seem like a place where “anything is fine at any time,” but in reality we are real people, and it is a continuous series of demanding tasks. To ensure you can fully enjoy our creative French cuisine, temperature control is essential. Plates before plating: 85°C / Warm vegetables: 60°C / Japanese wagyu beef fillet: 250°C / Salad & dessert: 8°C, etc. Our French bread is served fresh from the oven at 200°C—wonderfully fragrant, crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. We take great pride in our procurement and frozen storage management of natural head-on prawns and Japanese wagyu beef fillet. Backed by many years of experience, we consider ourselves industry-leading in both our Facility and outstanding techniques—a “small giant.” For a small business like ours, it is also vital to seek cooperation from suppliers, which can be mentally taxing as well. The two most important priorities for any Hotel are “meals and cleaning,” so we are very pleased to know you were satisfied with both. We were also deeply moved by your thoughtful message supporting our small Hotel—it has inspired us to aim even higher. Thank you again sincerely.   This Hotel is perfect for making memories in Yatsugatake.

  I made a Reservation at this cozy Hotel. It was my first stay, and the entrance was beautifully decorated with impatiens and petunias, instantly conveying the owner’s warm welcome. From the guest room to the bath and dining room, everything was spotless and felt truly hospitable. Dinner was delicious—the head-on prawns and filet were both excellent. The bread was warmed just right at both dinner and breakfast, with a satisfying portion size. Dessert included melon and a mousse cake, which honestly made me do a little happy dance. The bath is a unit bathroom, but it was thoroughly cleaned down to every corner, allowing me to relax and unwind. I took a walk around the Hotel before breakfast, and the area was wonderfully quiet. The manager and his wife run the place together; it’s a small Hotel filled with heartfelt hospitality—one I’ll want to return to whenever I visit Yatsugatake again.

  Thank you very much for staying with us the other day despite traveling from afar. We are also delighted that you posted your review so quickly—and with such a fair evaluation. Maintaining the greenery in the front garden and the larch forest on the south side—over 3,000 square meters in total—is hard work in itself. On top of that, this year we strengthened our floral welcome at the entrance: twice as many plants as last year, in four colorful varieties. In contrast with the green lawn along the approach, they create a vivid entrance. Each planter is brought out on sunny days and put away when it rains. Repeating this for months is quite a task. Thank you for noticing and sharing these details—it makes our work truly worthwhile. At Hotels known for their cuisine, portions often tend to be smaller. Delicious, but not quite filling... Still, traveling is also about enjoying more than usual—especially refined creative dishes—even if you normally watch your diet. With that policy in mind for decades now, we aim to satisfy both your taste and your appetite. Ingredients such as the premium melon and mousse cake you enjoyed do add to our costs, but seeing guests feel truly fulfilled makes it more than worthwhile. “A great Accommodation is made by great guests.” We are deeply grateful for your kindness and consideration.   Mother-and-daughter trip

  I planned a trip on my beloved Koumi Line and stayed at Du Ciel Bleu, which is highly rated on various sites. This Hotel exceeded my expectations with its beautiful garden, clean Room, and above all, delicious meals. I was traveling with a cane, but thank you very much for such a truly enjoyable time.

  Enjoy Nature

  We visited as a family. We considered staying at a large Hotel, but this time we read the Reviews and chose to stay here, and it became a wonderful memory. From the well-maintained garden on the spacious grounds, we could truly feel the nature of Yatsugatake. In the mornings and evenings we opened the windows without using air conditioning, and woke up to a quiet morning with birdsong. It was great to experience scenery we don’t usually get to enjoy. The meals were clearly prepared with great care by the couple, and everything had such gentle flavors. They were particular about the ingredients as well, and we had a lovely time. The Room was spotless—more thoroughly cleaned than any Hotel we have stayed at before—so we felt comfortable and at ease. If I could make one request, it would be for a refrigerator. I’d like to enjoy my own cold drinks in the Room, and given the location we also shopped at roadside stations; especially in summer it feels essential. We did our research before coming so we brought a cooler box, but by morning everything had become lukewarm. We would love to visit again when we want to reconnect with nature.

  Duck webbed feet

  Established 43 years ago! I was first amazed to learn it has had a single owner and is now run solely by the husband-and-wife team. Despite its long history, it doesn’t feel old at all—while preserving the original concept, it has been thoughtfully renovated to suit the times, and their dedication shows in how impeccably clean everything is, even in places you don’t normally notice. The food and wine reflect the owner’s attention to detail throughout, and the illuminated trees and the crackling sound of logs in the fireplace were wonderful touches. I’d love to stay again when I have the chance.
