It was amazing!!!
Staying at a ryokan located within a temple's grounds was a first for me, and I was quite excited. The facility is old, but the bath was newly renovated and very comfortable to use. Above all, the meals were delicious. The variety of dishes, even though it was traditional vegetarian cuisine, never felt monotonous. It was truly wonderful. If it were closer, I would love to visit again just for the meals. Such a delightful accommodation.

An accommodation that refreshes both body and mind
Accommodation located within the grounds of Kiyomizu-dera Temple. You can park your car in the parking lot near the main gate and walk along the approach, but since there are quite a few stairs to climb, it’s recommended to request a pick-up if you have luggage (they can also drop you off by car on your way back). The photos online might give an impression of a large ryokan, but in reality, it is a cozy and charming accommodation. The toilet and bath are shared but very clean and well-maintained. The guest rooms consist of two spaces: one with tatami flooring and another with a large bed. Facilities and amenities are well-equipped. The hospitality is warm yet not overbearing, creating a comfortable atmosphere. One of the highlights was enjoying breathtaking views of Kiyomizu-dera's natural beauty and its three-story pagoda from both the guest room windows and dining area. The vegetarian cuisine made with local vegetables and mountain plants was exquisite, reflecting the chef's dedication to each dish. Delicacies like zenmai fern shoots, kogomi fiddleheads, sesame tofu... every bite brought joy to my senses with their natural flavors and aromas—an experience that made me realize how lacking meals in Tokyo can feel by comparison!

I was a bit worried ...
I was a bit worried about the shared bath and toilet, but the service was attentive, and I was able to enjoy the bath in a private setting. The view from the Room was wonderful, with a temple in nature beautifully lit up, offering a unique experience. The wild herb cuisine was carefully prepared to make the most of the local blessings, and I enjoyed it deliciously and relaxedly.
