An accommodation that feels like coming home to your hometown

I requested allergy accommodations, and I am truly grateful for the kind and attentive support you provided. Also, the way you interacted with our child was incredibly respectful—treating them as an individual. You gently answered all their questions while expanding on the conversation, and it seems they not only made new discoveries but also genuinely enjoyed connecting with people. After waving goodbye until you were out of sight, they even burst into tears. This is an Accommodation I can wholeheartedly recommend to families with children!! The curry you served our child at dinner was delicious!

This has become one of the Accommodations I’d love to visit again.

For several months after we started planning a trip to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday, this was one of the Accommodations we chose after a lot of 고민 and consideration. It was the perfect Accommodation for what we wanted: a relaxing stay for a small group, an open-air bath, and delicious food. The Room had an open-air bath, a Goemon bath, a stone sauna, and an indoor bath—so we could truly enjoy bathing to the fullest. It was our first time dining around an irori hearth, and just watching the fire is so enjoyable... Wonderful to look at and wonderful to eat—everything was deeply satisfying, including the atmosphere. They also lent us a red chanchanko vest for the 60th birthday celebration, and it made me feel truly glad we could come on this trip and celebrate. Thank you very much. Every dish was delicious, but the takikomi rice and the yogurt ice cream dessert were outstanding!! The bedding in the Room also felt like “magic futons” for us as a couple—so comfortable we didn’t want to leave (lol). Thank you to the owner and proprietress for your warm hospitality. Along with your wonderful personalities, the surroundings of the Accommodation reminded me of where I grew up as a child—it felt nostalgic and comforting, and it was a place where I could relax from the bottom of my heart. We chose this Kyushu trip thinking it might be our last chance to go there, but this has become one of those Accommodations that makes us want to return. I wanted to give all ratings 5 stars, but I gave 4 stars for in-room amenities because it would have been perfect if items like skincare lotion were individually packaged.

The most satisfying accommodation I have ever stayed at.

Thank you very much for your warm hospitality. From before our arrival, you took great care of us and welcomed us warmly. The room was spotless, and the onsen was incredibly relaxing. There were plenty of towels and yukatas provided, making it a truly comfortable accommodation. Additionally, the meals were absolutely delicious, and above all, the conversations with the host were delightful. We will definitely visit again, so please stay well until then. Thank you once again! From a guest who stayed at "Hanashinobu" from 11/27

An Accommodation That Feels Like Saying "I'm Home!"

The room includes a private open-air bath, and the level of comfort is exceptional, leaving no stress during the stay. The cuisine featured fresh ingredients representative of Aso, and the use of an irori (traditional Japanese hearth) for serving added an enjoyable touch to the dining experience. In my opinion, luxury accommodations either provide service with polite formality or maintain a friendly yet professional distance in communication—both executed at a high level. This accommodation fell into the latter category, offering a warm and approachable atmosphere while maintaining professionalism as service providers. It was incredibly relaxing. Rather than simply wanting to revisit, I felt like I wanted to "return home" again!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

Although I got a little lost on the way, I enjoyed plenty of delicious local ingredients in a nature-rich location and received very warm hospitality. The room's bath and stone sauna were excellent. Next time, I will take my time with a multiple night stay. It is an accommodation that warms the heart. Thank you to the hostess who saw me off until the end.

    Memorable Accommodation

Warm hospitality and the atmosphere of the accommodation made for a wonderful memory. The robatayaki dinner was a unique experience, allowing us to enjoy delicious local ingredients in an elegant setting. My favorite part was the stone sauna in the room. Relaxing and sweating it out, followed by a bath, was truly rejuvenating for both body and mind. The room was impeccably clean, which was impressive. I could feel the love and pride that the manager has for both the accommodation itself and each room. In addition to the Accommodation Fee at the time of reservation, extra charges such as Service Fees and seasonal fees must be paid in cash on-site. If you don't carefully read through all details during reservation, you might be surprised by unexpected costs. It would be appreciated if all fees were included in one total price displayed at the time of booking.

I felt relaxed in the traditional Japanese house.

In mid-June, after the rain, you can see fireflies at night. Enjoy a relaxing and delicious meal by the hearth paired with homemade doburoku by the hostess for a truly delightful evening. The Room features three baths and a stone sauna, perfect for relieving the fatigue of city life. Next time, I would love to stay longer!

    It was excellent!

The warm hospitality of the hostess, manager, and all the staff was truly wonderful, making our two-day stay incredibly comfortable! The room's bath was excellent! The meals were prepared with great attention to detail, and the Akaushi beef and dengaku were absolutely delicious. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches in the room, such as the beautifully arranged flowers and hanging scrolls. This is an accommodation we would love to visit again! Thank you so much for taking care of us.

Thank you for the excellent hospitality.

We had an amazing time. The detached room, relocated from a traditional Japanese house, retained its nostalgic charm while being clean and comfortable. There were two Onsen baths with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source—both the indoor bath and open-air bath were spacious and incredibly relaxing. The meals were absolutely delicious and exceptional! We were deeply touched by the warm hospitality of the staff, including the proprietress and manager, which made our stay very relaxing. We look forward to visiting again in a different season. Thank you very much!

    Wonderful!

I stayed for one night during my trip to Kumamoto. After much consideration, I chose Yamaboushi because the reviews were excellent. I'm so glad I made this choice! Everything was almost perfect. I gave 4 stars for customer service because I felt there could have been a bit more explanation during meals. However, it was still within the range of satisfaction, so it's not an issue at all (haha). The hospitality, food, bath, and location were all outstanding. It was a cozy and relaxing stay.

We were comforted by the kind hostess.

The heated table in the Japanese-style room was truly appreciated on a cold day. There was also a humidifier in the room, and I slept in the adjacent Japanese-style room. However, since I closed the sliding doors while sleeping, the air became dry, and I woke up at night with a sore throat (I should have left the doors open). After that, I unfortunately caught a cold. The bath was spacious, and the water temperature was just right and very pleasant. Multiple towels and yukata were provided, which was very helpful. As for meals, they were enjoyable but perhaps not as exceptional as expected. However, being charged 13,700 yen for two grilled yamame fish (900 yen), one bottle of sake (1,000 yen), one glass each of shochu with water and soda (which even my husband who is not much of a drinker found weak), and one serving of horse sashimi felt puzzling. While we paid it without issue at that time thinking it would be around 6-7 thousand yen total instead—what exactly made it so expensive remains unclear to us even now? Breakfast came generously portioned beyond what could finish eating; apologies again! The rice itself stood out deliciously chewy-textured quality-wise!

Discovered the Best Onsen Accommodation Ever!

We stayed here on the first night of our family trip to Kumamoto, and everything was absolutely perfect. The room featured a stone sauna, Goemon bath, open-air bath, and indoor bath. As if that wasn’t enough, dining in a private room with an irori (sunken hearth) was truly exceptional. Breakfast was meticulously prepared and incredibly delicious. The homemade rice was sweet and flavorful, with every dish showcasing the finest ingredients. During breakfast, the hostess personally came to greet us and had a lovely chat with us—she was so friendly and kind that our entire family instantly became her fans! (laughs) All the other staff members were equally wonderful. At checkout, they waved goodbye until we left; we promised to return again for sure. We are truly grateful to have discovered such an amazing Onsen accommodation. We will definitely visit again—thank you so much!

A charming Ryokan that evokes the nostalgia of a bygone hometown. Talking with the hostess felt heartwarming, reminiscent of a grandmother's kindness. The stream flowing from the majestic nature of Aso is said to be lively with fireflies in June. I would love to visit again during firefly season. They were also very kind to children.
