    I’ll definitely be back.

This was my first time using IKYU. We decided on short notice to take an Onsen trip three days later (on a weekday), and an AI recommended IKYU, so I installed the app and searched. The last-minute deal that came up was an accommodation in Izu (Koyu-ro Ikawa). Let me say this upfront: I will definitely return. It was that wonderful. I believe it’s an older Ryokan that has been renovated, and I was truly impressed by the concept. It’s a triumph of spatial design. The entire building is kept softly dim, with skillful lighting creating a luxurious atmosphere, and carefully selected sofas placed in the lobby. Together, these elements gently conceal the age of the building and create a gorgeous space where you can completely relax. It was also clear that every service and facility—such as welcome drinks and the after-meal dessert buffet—has been thoughtfully planned and provided. What I especially want to highlight is the private open-air bath in a separate annex on the first floor. You can soak in an indescribably wonderful space, and that time left a powerful impression on me. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. There is only one thing I regret: while almost all staff were perfect (100/100), when we arrived about an hour before check-in at 3:00 p.m., the young female staff member who came out from the back to assist us at reception was extremely disappointing. Her language wasn’t polite, and it made me feel as if we were being pushed out of the property. We pulled ourselves together and returned before 3:00 p.m., but everyone else was outstanding.

    Take it easy.

Overall, the property felt a bit dated, but I could also see the effort being made. The private bath and the Room were spacious and nice. The meals were decent. All of the staff were pleasant and welcoming.

The hot spring water quality is excellent, but the overall atmosphere feels dark.

We stayed in the 5th-floor Hollywood twin room “Natsu.” A previous guest’s socks were found under the bed. There are no handrails in the private bath or in the large public bath (both indoor and open-air), which felt unsafe. The open-air bath at night is dark underfoot, and there are protruding stones near the tub—please be careful. I tripped. The meals were good. However, it would be nice if regular beer were available as an option.

The day before, I suddenly felt like going to an Onsen, so I looked for a nearby Accommodation with two meals included and found this place. Even though we arrived early, a female staff member greeted us outside and kindly guided us to the parking lot and helped carry our suitcases, which was very helpful. I had a few thoughts: I’d really like handrails added at the large public bath on the 7th floor; I wanted the dining area brighter during dinner; I wished there were a small table by the bed to place a phone or glasses (an outlet there would be even better); and since the platform used in place of a bed didn’t match the mattress size, I hit my shin on the part that stuck out—so please be careful. That said, both the Room and baths were kept very clean, and the food and desserts were delicious. Maybe because it was a weekday, I had the large bath and open-air bath all to myself all four times. The private bath was also very clean, and the incense was nice as well. With a last-minute discount we stayed at a great price, and one of the perks was checkout until 11:00, so we could relax. The value for money is excellent. I’d like to visit again.

Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

From the moment we stepped through the entrance door, the atmosphere was calm, welcoming, and relaxing. The private bath also had a great ambiance and allowed us to unwind at our own pace, and the large public bath and open-air bath on the top floor offered wonderful views. The Room felt a bit dated, but it was comfortable, and the late check-out was very helpful. This has become one of the Hotels we would like to stay at again.

I booked the student discount Plan, and for about JPY 12,000 per person it included plenty of great perks—assorted sashimi served on a boat platter, a private bath, and colorful yukata rental—so it was excellent value and we had a wonderful time. Thank you very much!

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary.

This was my first time staying here! There were staff in the parking lot who guided us inside, and at check-in they kindly explained everything, including where the dining area and the Onsen are located.\nWe stayed in the Room “Aki” on the 4th floor. It was very spacious and clean! It was a smoking floor, but the smell of cigarettes didn’t bother me too much.\nMy first-ever private bath was incredibly relaxing, and my husband was very happy as well. The open-air bath in the large public bath was also amazing!\nDinner—especially the pie-wrapped dish, roast beef, and sashimi—was delicious. Breakfast was also excellent, especially the minced horse mackerel (aji namero) and dried horse mackerel (aji himono).

    It was a pleasant stay.

From check-in to check-out, the service was attentive, and the staff were very friendly and kind. I left something behind and contacted them after leaving the Accommodation, and they found it right away and helped me promptly. The meals were healthy, and I felt the menu was thoughtfully designed with wellness in mind. The private bath included as a perk was excellent! I would love to stay again.

The meals and service were satisfying.

The staff were very kind and attentive. The Room clearly showed the renovation style. The bed was on a raised platform near what used to be the window side, and I hit my head on a beam three times, which was quite painful—this was the only drawback. (I’m 176 cm, an average height.) To reduce staffing, there is a self-serve system for miso soup and rice, but that didn’t bother me. Perhaps they emphasize background music, but it was extremely loud during meals, so it may not suit guests who want to talk quietly and relax. It felt a bit too loud for us, so I asked the staff to turn it down. I was happy they agreed without hesitation and lowered the volume. The open-air bath was very cold, so my partner didn’t go in because it was too chilly, which was disappointing—but we would like to visit again in a warmer season.

    The meals, bath, and...

The meals, bath, and lounge were excellent. We also used the private bath, which had a special atmosphere and is highly recommended. There is also a facility like a bar where you can enjoy a footbath, which we recommend as well. A ping-pong table was available, and we had fun using it. However, the front desk staff at check-in spoke very quickly and seemed unfriendly, leaving a less favorable first impression. Additionally, during dinner, I noticed staff near the entrance crossing their arms, which was concerning. Other than that, it was an excellent accommodation overall; just those points were slightly disappointing.

The details are not quite satisfactory.

The lock on the changing room door of the top-floor bath is broken and does not close. The combined container for face wash and shaving foam produces weak lather, causing razor burn during shaving. The remote controls for the room's lighting and CD player do not work, possibly due to dead batteries, although the devices themselves are functional. While aiming for a healing atmosphere with dimmed lighting and pleasant scents in the facility, improving overall cleanliness in areas like the bathroom would enhance guest satisfaction. Please clean any dirt on shower hoses promptly!

The meals were disappointing and lacked flavor. The steamed egg custard and the dish with pastry wrapping were also served cold. Additionally, the shower in the bath had low water pressure, which was unsatisfactory.

    It was a wonderful trip.

We stayed for two nights and three days. We chose an economical room and upgraded the meals. The room had a slightly old-fashioned feel, but it was thoroughly cleaned and very comfortable. Since my partner smokes, we appreciated that smoking was allowed in the room. There was no noticeable smell of smoke in the room, so even non-smokers should be fine staying here. The meals were all delicious, with different dishes served on the first and second days for both dinner and breakfast. The portions were generous, leaving us completely satisfied even as people in our 20s with big appetites. The private Onsen had a wonderful atmosphere, and while we initially thought we could only use it once during our stay, we were delighted to enjoy different private Onsens on both the first and second days. If I have another chance to visit Izu Nagaoka, I would love to stay at this accommodation again!

    It was very disappointing.

We stayed as a family. The photos and reviews were not bad, so we had high expectations, but honestly, we were disappointed. The meals seemed to focus on presentation for social media appeal, but the taste was neither bad nor particularly good. The dining area was a former banquet hall, and when we arrived, almost everything except one dish was already set on the tables. Additionally, rice, miso soup, tea, and water had to be fetched by ourselves from the stage area of the hall... Alcohol was delivered by a serving robot—felt like being at a family restaurant! The Room had been renovated but still showed its age; walking on the tatami made quite a creaking noise. Even when I tried to walk quietly at night to avoid waking my family while going to the restroom, it creaked continuously. The private bath seemed newly built and was nice; however, the public bath was disappointing as it wasn’t well-cleaned. The outdoor rock bath had moss growing all over it. We won’t be returning again.

The Room was clean and spacious, and the private open-air bath, as well as the footbath, were wonderful. The meals were more than sufficient for the price. However, one disappointing aspect was that there were many children running around noisily in the dining area and making a commotion in the lobby. Since the Hotel has a calm atmosphere, this was quite unfortunate. It would be nice if there could be some consideration, such as separating families with children in the dining area.

    Like a secret base.

The accommodation had a pleasant fragrance. Meals were convenient as side dishes were provided, and guests could serve themselves rice, miso soup, tea, and water. This was especially helpful for us since we don't drink alcohol. After the meal, we went to the first floor for dessert. Coffee was also available on a self-serve basis. The private "Pesu no Yu" bath was spacious and very relaxing. The large public bath and open-air bath offered a great sense of openness as well. However, due to the nature of the water or tiles in the large public bath, they were slightly slippery—something to be cautious about if you have children with you. One concern unrelated to the accommodation itself was that a child who was there grabbed some nameko mushrooms from the miso soup with their hands and put them back into the pot—it felt unhygienic. At night, there is a footbath bar where soft drinks seem to be free of charge; although we didn’t go ourselves, it’s worth noting. Overall, it was a relaxing stay!

    The Onsen was wonderful!

First, my husband forgot his important notebook at the Hotel, but when we contacted them, they sent it to us immediately. We are so grateful. Thank you very much. When we arrived at the Hotel, there was a welcome drink bar with white wine available as an alcoholic option. After dinner, a dessert bar was added with treats like petit cakes and cream puffs. The meals were delicious for both breakfast and dinner. The dried fish at breakfast was especially tasty. Dinner had so many dishes that I couldn’t finish everything! The Onsen was truly wonderful—not too hot, allowing for a long and relaxing soak while leaving my skin smooth and soft. We also rented a private Onsen; it was spacious and luxurious, providing an indulgent experience. Overall, it’s a stylish Hotel with a warm atmosphere. I’d love to visit again!

    A Moment of Relaxation

We spent a relaxing vacation as a couple. Time passed slowly, and we had a very peaceful experience. Although the overall atmosphere felt slightly dim, we were able to fully relax and rejuvenate, leaving us satisfied. The Hotel staff were attentive and made our stay even more comforting. We would love to visit again in the future.

Despite being a same-day Reservation, the service was excellent.

We decided to take a sudden break and searched for a nearby Onsen Ryokan. We stopped by the Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace before heading there. It was our first time visiting Kona Onsen, even though it’s so close. From the website, we learned that it is a Ryokan with a rich history. At this price, we were even upgraded to a better room. We had an incredibly comfortable stay. The meal centered around pork shabu-shabu, and both the meat and broth were delicious with plenty of volume. The bagna càuda sauce was also very tasty, though I thought having more vegetables would have been nice. The private Onsen was relaxing, and the public bath was spacious and enjoyable as well. The complimentary massage chairs were of excellent quality. I would definitely like to visit again!

    Thank you for your patronage.

I like this Onsen accommodation for its casual and easy access. However, the sashimi always has a fishy smell. I've mentioned this several times, but is there any way to improve it? Why hasn't it changed at all? Please, I want to enjoy delicious food. Keep up the good work. Thank you very much.

    Great value for money!

This time, we stayed for the first time with two people, and I can only say that the quality at just over 10,000 yen per person on a weekday is amazing. Good Points - Room upgrade (Thank you!) - Welcome drink (The grapefruit water was delicious. If I may be indulgent, it would have been nice to have coffee available from this time... haha) - Private Onsen (We had a reservation from 6 PM and actually received contact around 5:45 PM and finished around 6:30 PM. I was simply curious about how long we could stay in this case.) - Dinner (Appetizers, sashimi, shabu-shabu, grilled abalone dance style, ochazuke to finish; both taste and quantity were very satisfying) - Dessert buffet (We were so full from dinner that we took it to our room and enjoyed it there) - Footbath salon (There were no new glasses available so when I asked the front staff they immediately provided them. Moreover, after washing the used glassware they thanked me for saying "thank you," which made me happy) Disappointing Points - The herbal tea in the room had a unique taste (personal opinion) - The amenities' razor did not suit me - While watching a soccer program on one channel (8) on TV, the video or audio would cut out occasionally which was concerning - During dinner when we finished eating appetizers about 10 minutes after starting to eat someone came immediately to clear away plates which made me think "hmm?" Overall these are personal impressions but even what little disappointment there was didn't bother us much at all; truly impressed by how cost-effective everything felt! I hope to come again if I feel like enjoying an Onsen. Thank you very much.

We offered foot baths, private baths, and various ways to enjoy the hot springs.

It was a New Year's trip with my elderly father, and he was very satisfied with the luxurious sashimi boat and the New Year's breakfast. Especially, enjoying a beer while soaking in the foot bath was a first-time experience and very relaxing. I think it is a property with high cost performance. If I were to make some requests: - The private bath has a large tub, so if you could increase the number of faucets from just one, a few more people could enter together. - The toilets are half Japanese-style and half Western-style, but it would be nice if the proportion of Western-style could be increased. - There was a woman with multiple lip piercings in charge of customer service, and while we intended to be soothed, it felt painful, and everyone's attention was drawn only to her lips.

    New Year's Family Trip

The staff was very pleasant. The Room was clean. When I took out a cushion to use, it had noticeable food stains, which made me think it wasn't checked each time, so I couldn't use it. The food was plentiful and all delicious. However, it was a bit inconvenient to go and get rice and other items. The dessert after the meal was in a different location, but there were too few seats, so I couldn't sit and had to take it to the Room to eat. The dessert tasted good, so it would have been great to eat it at the dining area. There was no set time for breakfast, but it was a bit disappointing to have to wait about 10 minutes upon arrival. The bath was fewer than I expected, so personally, I would have liked more variety, and there were only two hairdryers, so I couldn't wait for others to finish using them and dried my hair in the Room. Having a play area was great since we had a 3-year-old child.

Always the best, no matter when you come!

I think this is my fourth stay. I have been to other places, but Koutourou-san is the best! The food, the onsen, the room, everything is wonderful!! This time, I used it with a friend who came from Kagoshima, and they were very satisfied. I will visit again!

Looking for a Ryokan where smoking is allowed.

Searched for a room that allows smoking indoors, an onsen ryokan, relatively reasonable, and if possible, a modern room. I am satisfied with the above. When I entered the hotel's entrance and room, I felt good and my spirits were lifted. The bath, especially the private bath and foot bath, was particularly good. The large public bath was ordinary, but it was nice that there was no interval at night. However, the customer service felt modern in a bad way. The staff who came to greet us in the parking lot had two large lip piercings, which was quite surprising. No one to carry the luggage. The front desk receptionist had flashy nails. No guidance or explanation to the room. You could choose between a yukata or samue for the in-house wear, but the samue had frayed threads and pilling, giving off a super sento vibe. There were only towels in the room, with none provided in the bathroom. For meals, all the dishes were pre-set on the table, and you had to serve your own rice, miso soup, water, and tea. A young staff member, with a templated speech, told us to read the description of the dishes there, and I lit the candle myself with a lighter that was also there. When I forgot the breakfast venue and inquired at the front desk around 9 PM, I received the unexpected response, "I don't know because it's the night shift." Thus, I caught a glimpse of the reason for the reasonable price. Even though it's reasonable, it still costs a fair amount, but it feels like they focused entirely on the entrance, room, and private bath. If you're expecting the classic ryokan service, you might be disappointed. This time, I was satisfied because it's rare to find a ryokan with a stylish room that allows smoking these days (even if there are, they are either super luxury ryokans or have few rooms, making it hard to get a reservation). I might repeat, but I think I would opt for no meals next time.
