    Second stay

    Because we had a great stay three years ago when I brought my mother-in-law, I came again this time with my mother. However, the service was worse than last time, and although the Onsen and meals were good, it was very disappointing.

    It was very relaxing.

    Although our trip was rainy, the staff kindly came to the parking lot with an umbrella to welcome us as soon as we arrived at the Accommodation. After that, everyone continued to treat us gently with warm smiles at all times, making it one of our favorite travel memories. The Onsen temperature was just right, and I ended up soaking for about an hour... Dinner was delicious, but breakfast was even better—an amazing variety and great flavors. We felt happy and completely full from the morning! It’s an Accommodation we would definitely love to visit again!

    The room size was very comfortable.

    The guest rooms and all the Hotel Facilities were spacious, and I was able to enjoy a luxurious stay. Dinner was also lightly seasoned and delicious. I would be happy if there were a few more in-room amenities. Although I stayed alone, I felt very refreshed.

    Fujiya Hotel: 1-night stay with breakfast and dinner

    I mentioned my allergies when making the Reservation, and I knew it must have been difficult to accommodate my meals. Thank you very much for your thoughtful care and consideration during dinner. Thanks to you, I was able to enjoy a wonderful trip, and I sincerely wish you all the best. The Onsen is said to be fed by a natural hot spring source, and for the first time in a while I was able to relax while surrounded by the scent of sulfur. The Room was spacious and very clean, and since it has been renovated, it felt comfortable and relaxing. Lastly, the service was excellent as well, and I think this place deserves high ratings.

    If you have a digital scale.

    The front desk staff were welcoming, and the Facilities were well maintained, so I was able to enjoy a comfortable stay. With Yumeya as a sister property, the breakfast buffet was a level above other Onsen Accommodations. The chirimen sansho, local kiriae, and karashi-maki were especially outstanding. However, the scale in the large public bath is an old-style analog type like those found in traditional public bathhouses and is difficult to use; I would appreciate it if a digital scale could be installed.

    Stay with Grandma and Family

    Dinner was served in a private room, allowing us to enjoy a relaxed conversation, and our child comfortably read books or relaxed in the corner. Although it is an old Ryokan, it was well-cleaned, and the staff's kind hospitality was greatly appreciated. It would be helpful if breakfast could also be served in a private room for an additional fee, especially when traveling with elderly family members. It would be perfect if light alcoholic beverages were available for purchase at the lounge before dinner or after a bath.

    The staff's thoughtf...

    The staff's thoughtful hospitality made for a pleasant stay. We enjoyed the luxury of the Onsen while admiring the autumn leaves. Every meal was delicious. Thank you for seeing us off warmly despite the cold weather.

    The service was excellent, but...

    A Ryokan with an Onsen located near Yahiko, ideal for sightseeing. The staff were cheerful and pleasant. The meals were meticulously prepared, the aroma of incense filled the facility, the koi fish and autumn leaves in the garden were beautiful, and their attentive response to prior requests was commendable. However, my rating is lower due to the following reasons: 1. Karaoke singing and noise from the first floor echoed into second-floor guest rooms until around 10 PM, causing significant disturbance. 2. Intoxicated guests attempted to forcefully enter elevators or spoke loudly in hallways, making it uncomfortable to walk around inside. 3. The futons were thinner than household ones, the toilet was outdated, and opening/closing doors was difficult. 4. For a price of nearly 30,000 yen per person, it lacked a sense of luxury or awe-inspiring experience. I hope this accommodation will become even more wonderful someday!

    Both the Onsen and the food were excellent!

    The hot spring quality was excellent and worked well for my chronic skin condition. Dinner was outstanding, especially the appetizers and sashimi. The "noppe" dish had a gentle flavor that I really enjoyed. Breakfast was pre-portioned into small bowls, making it easy to serve, and the seasoning was mild—perfect for us in our 60s. My wife and I couldn't resist having seconds. The staff provided attentive service throughout, which made the experience even better. The amazake service had a refined taste that we loved as well. We would love to stay here again!

    With my sister, visited Yahiko Shrine and stayed at Iwamuro Onsen.

    We stayed at Iwamuro Onsen Fujiya while visiting relatives in Niigata, my parents' hometown, and decided to visit Yahiko Shrine, which my mother had told me about. Although the weather was not ideal, the autumn foliage in the garden was beautiful, and we received thoughtful hospitality that left nothing lacking. The dinner was delicious with generous portions that were almost too much to finish. For breakfast, I especially enjoyed the rice and koji pickles. The mini-sized steamed bread was also delightful and comforting. The onsen had a wonderful water quality that kept us warm for a long time without feeling chilled afterward. If I could make one request, it would be for slightly softer futons for sleeping comfort... The next day, we were kindly taken to Yahiko Shrine as well—thank you very much!

    For family trips

    We stayed at the accommodation for a family trip with our 2-year-old child. The kid-friendly atmosphere was greatly appreciated, with services such as a kids' play area, diaper bins in the room, humidifiers, thermometers, toy rentals, and even water toys available in the large public bath. We also enjoyed using the family bath by reservation and had a wonderful time together as a family. While dinner did not have anything particularly outstanding, both the quantity and quality were more than satisfactory. The buffet-style breakfast was especially convenient for families with small children. The staff's hospitality was excellent, making this accommodation an overall very satisfying experience.

    Celebration for the 88th Birthday

    We stayed here as a family to celebrate my father's 88th birthday. Thank you so much for your thoughtful hospitality. It became a truly memorable celebration, and my father was very pleased. We thoroughly enjoyed the private Onsen with natural flowing hot spring water. The sulfur aroma added an authentic touch to the experience. The fresh sashimi, local sake, rice, and seasonal edamame were all unique flavors of Niigata and absolutely delicious. The chilled amazake and breakfast pickles made with koji were also delightful. We were blessed with good weather, allowing us to enjoy the view of the lush Echigo Plain and even catch a glimpse of the sunrise. Despite the summer heat, the breeze in the rooftop open-air bath overlooking Mount Yahiko was refreshing. Being close to the sea was another highlight; we could clearly see Sado Island from Kakudahama Beach. We would love to visit again!

    Will it leave a lasting impression for years to come?

    I visited Yahiko Shrine for the first time. The location is close to Yahiko Shrine, and the quality of the onsen water is excellent, making it a very nice place. The ryokan, including shared spaces like the lobby, is clean and spacious, which was very pleasant. I understood that the onsen water is sulfur-based, but since there was an open-air bath attached to the room, the smell of sulfur filled the room, which was challenging. While the onsen felt great for my body and everything was generally good, I didn't find anything particularly outstanding about this accommodation.

    When I returned late...

    When I returned late and missed dinner, I found rice balls placed on the table, which truly warmed my heart. They were also very delicious. Thank you so much. The staff members were all wonderful, and talking with them naturally brought a smile to my face. Since I couldn't enjoy dinner or the Onsen this time, I hope to visit again when I'm in Niigata.

    I had a great impression from my stay last year, so I decided to book here again this year. Both the service and meals were excellent. The breakfast, in particular, was delicious, and my whole family enjoyed it thoroughly.

    The Onsen was great, but the meals...

    I chose this place because the reviews for Iwamuro Onsen were good. However, the meals were very disappointing. When we sat down, the food was already prepared and had dried out due to the heating. I'm not sure how long it had been sitting there, but we arrived at our scheduled time. There was a small pot on the right and steamed dishes on the left, but sashimi was placed in between them, making it likely to warm up from the heat. I wondered if this might be due to staff shortages, but if meals are not served sequentially, perhaps a menu that considers this would be better. The onsen was great.

    The best accommodation for your third visit to Iwamuro Onsen.

    This was my third stay at Iwamuro Onsen, and it is the best accommodation. - The breakfast buffet was excellent, featuring many local dishes that were enjoyable and very delicious. However, the dinner could use a bit more creativity (it seemed like there were many simple dishes, though they were tasty). - The bath had great water quality and felt wonderful. There was also a sauna to warm up in. I found it curious that the bathwater was white this time; during my previous two visits, it had a reddish hue. I would like to know if this is due to the source or additives. - Lastly, I was impressed by how polite and attentive the staff at the accommodation were. Overall, this is an accommodation I'd love to stay at again!

    It was truly exceptional hospitality.

    As expected, the property at Iwamuro Onsen, which won first place in the hospitality category of the 2024 Onsen General Election! We received extremely pleasant hospitality. I won't write about each detail, but every interaction from shuttle service to stay to shuttle service was so pleasant that it made us feel humbled. We stayed in a room with an open-air bath, and this onsen was wonderful. Our skin felt smooth, and our bodies were warm. It was truly pleasant. The temperature was just right for us, who are not fond of hot onsens, and we ended up taking a long bath (laughs). The smell of sulfur further enhanced the onsen experience. We have become such fans of Fujiya-san that we definitely want to visit again! Thank you very much for taking great care of us.

    I stayed again.

    I was so impressed with my stay at the end of last year that I made another reservation. All the meals were delicious, and the shuttle service was very pleasant and accommodating, which was delightful. I have stayed at many onsen properties within the prefecture, but Fujiya is my favorite. Please let me visit again.

    It was a satisfactory Ryokan.

    The attentive service was excellent, and my 94-year-old mother was very satisfied. She said she would definitely like to visit again. The proprietress saw us off in the rain, making it a heartwarming end to our trip.

    A heartfelt inn

    The hospitality of the inn's staff, including the proprietress, was pleasant. Both dinner and breakfast had a wide variety of dishes, were delicious, and left us feeling full. The hot spring water made our skin smooth, and it was the kind of water we wished we could soak in for a few more days. Staying the night before the Mid-Autumn Festival, we were very lucky to be able to gaze at the large, bright moon while soaking in the open-air bath.
