    Three-Generation Stay

    We stayed here as three generations, traveling with my parents-in-law. Before our stay, I contacted the Accommodation twice to ask whether our Rooms could be on the same floor, whether we could dine in the same venue, and about meals for the children. Both times, the staff responded courteously, which made us feel at ease on the day of arrival. As this is a long-established Ryokan, the building is not new, but it has a calm atmosphere that suited my parents-in-law perfectly. Some wallpaper in parts of the Room was peeling, and perhaps due to a special type of wallpaper there was some fuzz that seemed to float around, but overall the Room was relatively clean. The meals were kaiseki-style and just the right amount; our family enjoyed them very much. The staff also explained each dish carefully, making it a truly pleasant dining experience. There was also an excellent selection of alcoholic drinks. When traveling with children we often end up choosing buffet-style dining elsewhere, so it was a great experience for them to enjoy kaiseki cuisine as well. In the lounge, perhaps because it is open to non-staying guests too, all seats were taken at first; once seats became available they called our Room via internal phone so we could use it. We were able to spend relaxing time together as a family. As for the Onsen, there is nothing to complain about—the water quality was wonderful and the large public bath was clean. Overall, I felt that the high level of hospitality from all staff members is what drives guest satisfaction here. The Facility itself may not stand out compared with other Ryokan in every respect, but their hospitality more than makes up for it. Thank you very much.

    It was a pleasantly traditional, high-quality Accommodation—better than expected.

    This was my first stay here. I knew you also put effort into music and the bar, so I had assumed—on my own—that the property might have been renovated in a more modern style. However, not only the exterior but also the interior preserves the character of a long-established Accommodation. Even where parts are older, everything is kept clean and is easy to use, and the newer updates blend in naturally. It felt like a tasteful, authentic continuation of tradition in the best way. I’m very sorry for my misunderstanding! The food was much the same: delicious at its core, with thoughtful touches that never feel gimmicky. Even wrapping the matcha shabu-shabu in nori works well because the vegetables are crisp root vegetables and mizuna; if you place them on the meat and wrap quickly, the nori doesn’t go limp. The ponzu was refreshing as well—you can tell it’s been carefully considered. At dinner, our attendant was young but responded cheerfully and appropriately even when we asked for advice about drinks, which was wonderful. And most importantly, the Onsen had that pleasantly silky texture typical of Ureshino—truly what you’d expect from a long-established place. If I may make two small requests: it would be helpful to have hair ties among the bath amenities for guests who forget theirs. Also, checkout was quite crowded. Perhaps you could introduce a system where guests place their room key in a box to receive a number ticket, then sit down with self-serve tea or coffee (which was delicious) while waiting for their number to be called. I ended up writing at length, but this has become an Accommodation I truly hope to return to again and again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    The best

    The Onsen gets you wonderfully warm and feels great. The in-room bath is also very relaxing. The Room layout is lovely, and in the morning sunlight pours in—on a clear day, you can enjoy the sunrise. The food is delicious, and you can enjoy local Ureshino sake. The rice is especially outstanding. The yudofu at breakfast was the best.

    An Accommodation of The Beatles, Music, and Warm Hospitality

    Before our first check-in, we waited in the music bar, where The Beatles were playing through incredible speakers. The atmosphere was wonderful, and the other guests sitting nearby looked very relaxed. The Room was old, but it also had a record player along with jazz CDs and LPs. In the bath, dedicated bath-time music was playing (apparently composed by someone from Quruli!). The skin-beautifying hot spring felt genuinely soothing—even for a middle-aged man like me. Each dish was carefully prepared, and the local sake went down smoothly. The young women who served us were polite, kind, and cheerful. After dinner, they played my favorite LPs in the music bar with superb sound quality and even made a cocktail I requested—an excellent evening drifted by. If I had to mention one drawback: my spouse and I slept together on one futon set in a Japanese-style Room. There wasn’t enough space to even turn over comfortably, which was pretty tough—though it can’t really be helped. So in the middle of the night, I went into the open-air bath attached to our guest room and looked straight up to see a round moon overhead. That view has become unforgettable for me so far. When I asked at checkout, they told me that the current owner is an avid Beatles fan, while the previous owner was a jazz collector—which explains why CDs, LPs, and music are everywhere throughout this Accommodation. It truly was an Accommodation where not only time but something wonderful flowed throughout our stay. Thank you very much.

    The thoughtful care ...

    The thoughtful care at check-in and the warm greetings when we went out for a walk made this a wonderful Ryokan. The Room was also very comfortable, and the river-view scenery was excellent.

    Enjoy an extraordinary escape.

    This was our first family Onsen trip in a long time—just the three of us, including our daughter who is now working. The building is old and there are some worn areas, but the Room had been renovated and felt clean, so we were able to spend our time very comfortably. The only thing that stood out was that the TV was in the bedroom rather than the living area. The in-room bath was also fed directly from the source (free-flowing), and it felt wonderful—we used it many times. They even cooled the water to a comfortable temperature based on our arrival time. Perhaps because of that, we rarely found ourselves sharing the large public bath with other guests. The water had a silky texture, and it seemed to help improve a family member’s rough skin. Although many of the staff were young, everyone was polite and wonderfully attentive, greeting us with lovely smiles. We enjoyed local specialties at dinner as well; everything was delicately seasoned and delicious. The portions were more than enough, and together with reasonably priced drinks, we left completely satisfied. Free coffee service is common elsewhere too, but the coffee we had in the Yukemuri Lounge was truly excellent—we were impressed. Spending a morning there in its calm interior with Beatles music playing felt incredibly relaxing compared to everyday life. Usually after staying at an Onsen Accommodation, we simply take a bath, eat breakfast, and check out—but this time we ended up taking things much more slowly than expected. Throughout the property—including the souvenir shop—there are fine furnishings, tasteful decor, and many small displays. Even so, there wasn’t any noticeable dust at all; everything is kept very clean. Next time I’d love to visit at night as well—the Yukemuri Lounge feels far too high-quality to be just an Onsen Accommodation bar.

    I’d love to make this my go-to Accommodation.

    It was an excellent Accommodation. The Onsen, Room, and meals were great, of course, but what truly set it apart was the attentive hospitality and service. There are too many examples to list, but they never entered the Room ahead of us, they politely stopped and stepped aside when passing in the hallway, and during meal service they presented each dish with the front of the bowl properly facing us (it reminded me of “marumae kaku-mukai” for the first time in a while). Many people may not even notice these details, but I felt that being able to handle such small things properly reflects—and elevates—the overall quality of service.

    An Accommodation with exceptional hospitality from the staff

    Nagasaki & Saga trip, third night. Since it was my birthday, we chose the Anniversary Plan. As soon as we arrived at the parking lot next to the Accommodation, a male staff member came out to guide us and quickly carried our suitcases for us, which was a big help. A female staff member then escorted us to our Room with great care. The Room had already been cooled down, and she served us chilled Ureshino tea—my sweat dried up instantly. The tub in the semi-open-air bath in the Room had already been filled with Onsen water, but the source temperature seemed very high. In the summer heat it was too hot to even touch at first, so we went to the large public bath instead. The large public bath has been renovated and felt new and comfortable. Since it’s a small Accommodation, we had it all to ourselves and could relax. There was an audio system in the Room, so if you bring your favorite CDs you can enjoy them there. They also had plenty of CDs available to borrow. Near the elevator they offered iced tea made from pesticide-free black tea leaves harvested in Ureshino—it was incredibly delicious, so we bought some tea leaves at the shop. Dinner was luxurious for both adults and children. Because it was an anniversary stay, there was also a dessert plate and a half bottle of sparkling wine. They also offered branded shochu and other drinks, which would be great for anyone who enjoys alcohol. The food was delicious and generous in portion size; above all, the freshly cooked rice was outstanding—our child asked for seconds. Our attendant was a foreign female staff member; she was very kind and wonderful. By bedtime, we managed to get the bath in our Room down to a comfortable temperature. I thought it might cool off by morning, but even then it stayed pleasantly warm—I was amazed at how hot Ureshino Onsen is. Our Room was at the very back of the building, so it was quiet and peaceful. Although it’s described as having a semi-open-air bath in the Room, unfortunately the window could not be opened (it remained closed), so it felt more like an indoor bath. Still, everyone’s hospitality here is exceptional—this is a wonderful Ryokan where you can truly feel classic Japanese hospitality from days gone by.

    Exceptional value for the price

    I was surprised by the car that picked us up at the station. It may be limited to sunny days, but we were able to enjoy the ride as well. The Accommodation building looks a bit old, but the interior layout and furnishings are stylish and cohesive, so we had a comfortable stay. In particular, I loved the in-Room open-air bath where you can soak while looking out over the river and greenery. Overall, it offers excellent value for money, and I think the meal portions are just right for women. The sweets provided as a membership perk were unexpectedly delicious, which made it feel like an even better deal.

    A lively, long-established Ryokan

    After visiting the official website, I was impressed by how thoughtfully the owner introduced ways to help enliven Ureshino Onsen as a whole. On our way home, we were able to stroll through the shopping street using those suggestions, and even though it was our first time, it felt strangely familiar—Ureshino Onsen felt very close to us. Once we stayed at the Ryokan, we could truly feel that same spirit reflected throughout the property. The Onsen water was gentle and soothing—from the private bath to the large public bath and even the in-Room bath—and it washed away our everyday fatigue. Dinner was creative Japanese cuisine, and even the final rice course made with Saga-grown rice was delicious. Since one of the desserts included an ingredient I’m not very fond of, I asked about it and they immediately replaced it with something else, which I really appreciated. Breakfast also had just the right number of dishes and portions. The famous onsen tofu had a mild, comforting flavor. Pleasant music played throughout the Ryokan, and the selection of souvenirs was stylish as well—wonderful overall. They even had slipper table tennis (laugh). With a view out the window of the murmuring river and its flow, we were able to spend a truly lovely time here.

    It was a nice, cozy Accommodation.

    On IKYU there were only a few Reviews and it was ranked as “Casual,” so I hesitated quite a bit before making a Reservation. However, my family is interested in audio equipment, and after reading on the website, “The speakers are JBL Olympus and the amplifier is McIntosh. In addition to CDs, you can also listen to around 3,000 analog records,” we decided to book. The Room with an indoor bath was spacious and separated into a Japanese-style room and a bedroom, with an engawa-style veranda as well—it had a very nice feel. That said, while the riverside Room felt open, I wouldn’t say the view was particularly good. For the Onsen, the outdoor bath in the women’s area was pleasantly lukewarm—exactly how I like it—but as I stayed in, the temperature rose, so it may have just been by chance (unfortunately). I had seen Reviews on other sites saying that only cold water came out of the shower; that didn’t happen in the women’s bath when I used it. However, my family said it did happen in the men’s bath. My family really liked the atmosphere of the lounge with the audio setup. The service wasn’t bad at all, but I did notice that one female staff member at the counter chatted continuously with someone who seemed to be a regular. The meals were neither particularly good nor bad—typical Ryokan fare. When we ordered a bottle of sparkling wine, it took so long that we ended up asking about it because we thought it had been forgotten; apparently they bring it up from the lounge downstairs. We’ve stayed at several Accommodations in Ureshino; this one was neither outstanding nor disappointing. Overall, it’s an Accommodation I might consider staying at again.

    It was a wonderful Accommodation with lovely hospitality that changed my idea of what an Onsen can be!

    The large public bath was a wonderful space in harmony with music, and the speaker décor was thoughtfully designed—absolutely fantastic. Even though the music had a Western rhythm, it matched the Onsen atmosphere perfectly, and for me it was an experience that completely changed my idea of an open-air bath. The view from our Room was also great, and we were able to relax deeply. Every dish was delicious, and the yudofu in particular was outstanding. It was also nice to enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace in the calm dining area. Above all, the service—clearly driven by a genuine desire for guests to truly enjoy their stay at this Accommodation—was exceptional. I would definitely like to stay again!

    I enjoyed an incredibly relaxing trip at a reasonable price.

    All the staff were pleasant and treated us with great care. Every dish was delicious. Even though there was plenty of food, it was a healthy meal with modest salt and calories. The music bar was wonderful, with lots of records, and they chose some at my husband’s request. This Accommodation is also recommended for music lovers. On the way out, they gave us candy in a bag that gets you 50% off the Onsen. The “side effect,” they say, is that it makes you want to come back to Omuraya—and it really did make me want to return, haha. I’m sure we’ll go again; the quality of the hot spring water was excellent too.
