    The meals were not very good.

    The bath, service, and cleanliness of the Room were excellent, but unfortunately the meals were disappointing. Both breakfast and dinner portions were clearly small, and the quality of each dish was not particularly high. It didn’t feel like we enjoyed delicious cuisine; rather, it came across as a rushed menu put together with whatever was on hand. I believe an Onsen Ryokan should provide satisfaction with both the bath and the meals, so this was very disappointing.

    The meals did not meet my expectations.

    The facilities—such as the lobby, lounge, dining area, and baths—and the service are good, but the meals, especially dinner, were disappointing. They did not feel like dishes meant to welcome guests and were not even at a level where a menu could be presented. Whether this is due to the head chef’s skills or management issues, as it stands there will likely be no repeat guests. In the dining area as well, everyone seemed disappointed and it was completely quiet—no smiles or laughter. The Facility is excellent, which makes the food all the more regrettable. This was an Accommodation that could attract guests if only the food improved.

    Wonderful Accommodation

    As guests born in the Showa era, we found this wonderful Showa bubble–style Accommodation to be the best. It was spotlessly clean, and both the hot water and the meals were excellent. It was quiet, and we could relax at a leisurely pace. We will visit again together with trips to Oze and Fukiware Falls.

    Satisfaction guaranteed!

    The New Year's cuisine was delicious, and the hot spring bath with natural flowing water was excellent. This time, it snowed, and the atmosphere of watching the snow accumulate in the garden from the open-air bath was absolutely wonderful!

    I was satisfied.

    Overall, I was satisfied. Surprisingly, the meals were delicious. The use of ceramic dishes was impressive and unexpected in this day and age. Hot dishes were served hot, and cold ones cold, with thoughtful preparation. Several staff members were always on standby to provide attentive service. The accommodation showed some signs of aging but was not unclean or unpleasant in any way. At night, I enjoyed watching the torches lit in the courtyard from the lobby. The spacious design of the building had a nostalgic bubble-era feel, and it was fun to see features like waterfalls and goldfish in the courtyard. After my stay, my skin felt smooth thanks to the onsen—it was excellent! Although there were some negative reviews online that lowered my expectations beforehand (which might have worked out for me), there were still minor issues worth mentioning: for example, while there was a tray for sweets in our room, no actual sweets were provided; also, upon arrival, our room felt dark and cold. One positive aspect was that they asked whether we wanted our futon laid out during dinner—this service stood out as thoughtful—but I did feel that certain aspects of room preparation seemed cost-cutting measures. Additionally, there wasn’t a heater in our room; only an air conditioner served as heating equipment. Unfortunately, its noise level made it hard to sleep even after drinking alcohol—my companion ended up turning it off at night due to its loudness. I personally kept warm by taking multiple baths throughout my stay (leaving me feeling cozy with smooth skin), but my companion—who usually bathes only once—ended up taking another bath in the morning due to feeling slightly chilled overnight. That said, hallways had kerosene heaters warming them up nicely; dining areas also ensured guests stayed comfortable wearing yukata robes with haori jackets and tabi socks—a considerate touch by the accommodation. I realized this is a place best enjoyed by arriving early and indulging repeatedly in onsen baths for a therapeutic experience—I’d love to return under such circumstances! One disappointing aspect unrelated to management: during meals shared spaces included families where certain adults displayed surprisingly low manners—it’s unfortunate but not something within control of staff or policies targeting mature clientele aged 50+. Ideally though respectful guests could coexist harmoniously here moving forward! On another note regarding dining arrangements: groups including small children appeared separated from others which suggests thoughtful planning behind seating assignments too—a commendable effort indeed! Taking everything into account overall makes clear why this remains such good-quality accommodation deserving repeat visits!

    Exceptionally well-trained

    When I called the staff because the teapot was empty, they brought a full pot and even poured tea for both me and my wife without being asked! When I peeked at the Joshu beef sukiyaki hot pot out of hunger, they quickly came over and opened the lid, saying it would be ready soon. Since I was drinking beer, they also served me just a small portion of rice—perfect service! This is true hospitality! And all of this was provided by foreign staff. The only downside was that a neighbor's dog barked during the night... Can't something be done about this? While people have the right to own dogs, they don't have the right to let them bark at night! Of course, this isn't the Ryokan's fault...

    The room is spacious, and the Onsen is great.

    There are two types of open-air baths, and the autumn leaves and snow-capped scenery were very beautiful. The Onsen was clean and enjoyable. On the way back, we went apple picking as recommended by the staff, enjoyed delicious apples, and were very satisfied with this small autumn trip.

    The meals are excellent!

    Both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious! The staff provided very polite and attentive service. The building has a retro Showa-era vibe, but despite its age, the guest rooms were thoroughly cleaned and felt very clean. As noted in the description, the private open-air bath in the guest room is not an Onsen, which felt like a bit of a missed opportunity. The public bath had excellent water quality and was very relaxing. Traditional yukata sleepwear was quite uncomfortable for sleeping—stiff and prone to coming undone. Modern two-piece sleepwear might be more relaxing for some guests. If you’re not comfortable with yukata, bringing your own nightwear could make your stay more enjoyable. While it’s not brand-new or shiny, we had a truly wonderful stay at this accommodation. Thank you!

    The service and meals were excellent.

    I think this is a very good Ryokan. The staff, mostly from overseas, provided exceptionally polite and wonderful service. It felt like they were well-trained in hospitality. The meals were excellent, especially the Joshu beef sukiyaki. The dish was filled with plenty of meat, which made me very happy as someone with a big appetite, and the quality of the food was outstanding. The Joshu beef was well-prepared with no toughness or excessive greasiness, making it truly delicious. This Ryokan genuinely considers its guests' needs and provides thoughtful service.

    Family Two-Generation Trip

    This was our second visit with my father, who has difficulty walking. The room and dining area were conveniently located near the elevator, and the barrier-free bath made it comfortable for my father to enjoy his stay. The 60+ Plan offered great value with delicious meals and natural flowing Onsen. The meals featured locally sourced ingredients, were thoughtfully prepared, and tasted excellent. Amenities were well-stocked, and the towels had a luxurious texture that felt great on the skin. I would love to visit again. However, I considered trying an esthetic or massage service but hesitated as it was performed in-room on futons. Additionally, when I inquired at the front desk about oil massages, their response was unclear, so I decided against it.

    Onsen After Visiting Oze

    Stayed at the Onsen accommodation in Oigami for the first time after visiting Oze. The Hotel was more impressive than expected, with a wide variety of dishes for both breakfast and dinner, featuring local ingredients served on beautiful tableware—delicious and satisfying. Also, the early morning market starting at 6 AM offered great souvenirs. However, without a car, there were no lunch options available either at the Hotel or nearby. Ended up buying food from a Seven-Eleven about 30 minutes away and enjoyed it picnic-style. Proper research beforehand is recommended.

    I had a relaxing time.

    We stayed for one night with two meals included. The meals and the bath were satisfying. There is one open-air bath for men and one for women, as well as a large open-air bath that alternates between men and women. The staff during the meal service were mostly young individuals from Southeast Asia, and their dedication was impressive. As mentioned in previous reviews, the ventilation fan noise in the room we used was noticeable, so we hope this can be addressed. Nearby Recommendation: Fukiware Falls, about a 10-minute drive away, is quite impressive and highly recommended to visit.

    Same-day morning Reservation

    Checked the weather forecast for the next day and made a reservation in the morning. Stayed here as a pre-night before exploring Oze. The building is old, with bird droppings on the windows and dust accumulated on the sashes. However, I enjoyed soaking in the onsen (since there was no meal included, it was quiet during other guests' dinner time) and went to bed early. Woke up feeling refreshed in the morning. Satisfied with this experience at a price comparable to a business hotel. The quality of the onsen water is excellent! Although Ogami Onsen seems to be gradually declining, I hope they can keep going because of their great hot springs. By the way, there was blasting noise outside throughout midnight—perhaps to deter animals? It could disturb sleep quite a bit; I couldn’t stop wondering about it until I fell asleep. What was that? I hope for improvement (though it's not an issue caused by this accommodation).

    The Onsen was very relaxing.

    Ogami Onsen had always caught my interest. Although it was a sudden reservation, we stayed as a group of three. The room was on the top floor and was neither particularly good nor bad, but the creaking at the tatami border near the entrance bothered me. The onsen had a hot outdoor bath and a lukewarm indoor bath (almost too cool), which made it easy to choose based on preference. While it is said to be free-flowing from the source, it seemed slightly diluted with water. I liked the type of water, and my wife was delighted as she found it gentle on her skin. I enjoyed bathing three times during our stay. Being able to use the baths 24 hours (except during cleaning) was truly satisfying. The meals were well-balanced overall, and the sukiyaki with Joshu beef was delicious. Breakfast also had generous portions; the salmon piece was large and satisfying! I’d love to visit again in winter!

    A bit disappointing

    During meals, the staff were all foreigners with no Japanese support, which required repeating the same instructions multiple times, causing some frustration. At breakfast, there was a grilled mushroom dish served in a pot with a lid that wouldn’t open. The staff struggled at the dining table by hitting it with their palm and creating some commotion. It might be better to handle such issues back in the kitchen instead.

    The bath temperature...

    The bath temperature was slightly low, so it would have been better if it were a bit higher. Also, the Wifi connection felt a bit slow, but this might depend on the number of guests, connected devices, and network load. Overall, I am satisfied.

    We had a difficult experience - this is a cautionary notice.

    This was my second stay, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. I booked a plan with beef as the main dish, just like my first visit. However, pork was served instead. When I pointed this out, I was told that the reservation site had made an error and that it was actually a pork plan. Even after showing the confirmation screen from the reservation site clearly stating "beef," no resolution came immediately. Eventually, my meal had to be interrupted and later replaced with beef after some time. The response from the staff was extremely poor and unprofessional. Initially blaming the reservation site for the mistake, they later admitted in the morning that it was an error on their part at the ryokan itself. To add to this confusion, there wasn’t even any mention of a pork plan on their reservation page in the first place. Despite pointing out these discrepancies during dinner service, they were dismissive and insisted it wasn’t their fault until finally admitting otherwise later on. This experience left me feeling very uncomfortable and dissatisfied with my stay here. Although I would rate this lower if possible due to how unpleasant everything turned out to be—especially regarding customer service—I am giving 1 point across all categories as there is no option for less than that. I do not intend to return here again based on such treatment during what should have been an enjoyable trip. I hope no one else has such an upsetting experience in future stays at this ryokan; hence why I felt compelled enough write about mine through this review today!

    Everyone was kind.

    Thank you for providing us with a wonderful Room. The sukiyaki meat served at dinner was plentiful and very satisfying. The Room was conveniently close to the large public bath, making it easy to access. With no stairs, it is also accessible for elderly guests. The bath was spacious and refreshing, and I enjoyed the open-air bath as well. The variety of beauty amenities available made it fun to try different products. I was impressed by the thoughtful design of the women's changing room baskets that kept their contents private—I particularly enjoyed using ones with cat or fish patterns! (laughs) I look forward to staying again in the future; thank you in advance for your hospitality!

    A Long-Awaited Family Trip

    We stayed for one night during a long-awaited family trip. Although the staff seemed minimal, they were pleasant, and we had a calm and relaxing stay. The meals were exactly what we hoped for; both dinner and breakfast were delicious and very satisfying. The Facility itself felt old, with creaky floors that caught our attention, but it was kept clean, allowing us to use it with peace of mind. Thank you very much!

    I was soothed by delicious meals and a snow-viewing bath.

    I stayed alone on a weekday. The room was a single and small, but sufficient for one person. The shuttle service staff and front desk staff were kind, and the customer service was excellent. The meals were delicious and the portions were just right for someone my age, making me very satisfied. I entered the onsen three times, enjoyed the snow-viewing bath I aimed for, and it became a good memory of my solo trip. Next time, I think I'll invite friends to come along.

    It was our first gro...

    It was our first group trip in several years since the corona pandemic. Since most of us are elderly, we chose a place with a Shuttle Service from the station as our top priority, which was very helpful. Everyone was satisfied with the relaxing Onsen and the delicious meals. Perhaps due to the small number of staff, the service was minimal and not overly attentive, but everyone was kind, and we had a pleasant stay. Both dinner and breakfast were served in such large portions that we couldn't finish them, and every dish was delicious. If I may be greedy, I would have been happy if the checkout time was one hour later.
