  Enjoy breathtaking views from the observation deck

  Although the weather felt like the rainy season had returned, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the observation room (Gekko). Because the building is located on a hill, we had a clear view of the Shimanto River and the surrounding mountains. The Onsen water was excellent, with a slightly silky texture. For dinner we chose Sawachi cuisine featuring local dishes, and this time it was served as individual small plates rather than one large platter. Overall, I think it was a truly wonderful Accommodation. However, please drive carefully—the Accommodation is reached only after an extremely winding mountain road (narrow roads). Also, although it looks like it’s only about 5 minutes to town (convenience stores, etc.) on the map, as mentioned above it’s up in the mountains, so at night it’s pitch-dark and very dangerous! If you want to bring alcohol or cigarettes (the smoking area is outside the building), I recommend buying them before check-in. One more thing: they lend you samue loungewear, and it was made from incredibly comfortable fabric—perfect to wear. (If they sold it, I definitely would have bought it! It really was that comfortable.) I’ve stayed at several places near the Shimanto River before, and I can genuinely recommend this one. Lastly, thank you very much to all of the staff.

  Thank you very much for staying with us the other day. Although our Accommodation is located near the city center, it is a secluded, tranquil retreat as a single inn perched at the top of Shiroyama, away from the bustle of town. Surrounded by forest, it is not an area where you can easily pop out for shopping, so we recommend purchasing any necessities before check-in. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. The Shin-Anami Onsen, owned by Shimanto City, features a richly silky spring source and has been very well received. As we do not accept day-use bathing guests, we hope you were able to enjoy it at your leisure. If you have another opportunity to visit Shimanto, we would be delighted to welcome you again.

  Room for improvement in breakfast, staff service, and the bath facilities.

  The stay was somewhat disappointing, possibly due to the lack of accommodations in the area. (1) There was no staff to greet or see us off, (2) there were large insects in the shared bath, and (3) breakfast was quite poor. The cost-to-satisfaction ratio felt low. In particular, regarding (2), there were centipedes and bees present, which seemed rather dangerous. We even had to run around trying to avoid them in the bath area. I hope the services can be improved to better match the accommodation fees. Considering that I have stayed at many high-quality all-inclusive accommodations within a similar price range before, this experience was disappointing by comparison.

  Thank you very much for staying at our accommodation recently. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused at the onsen bath. Located atop Shiroyama and surrounded by forest, our environment offers encounters with charming insects like fireflies and bell crickets, but unfortunately, it is also possible to come across less welcome ones. Due to our location, it is impossible to completely eliminate such occurrences, and we kindly ask for your understanding. Please do not hesitate to call us if needed; we are well-prepared to handle such situations promptly. As a small-scale accommodation like ours, we regret that we cannot provide outdoor greetings or assistance with luggage as larger accommodations with parking attendants might offer. Instead, we welcome guests at the entrance where necessary assistance can be provided and bid farewell from there during check-out due to limited staffing availability. We apologize again for not meeting your expectations in this regard. We deeply regret that your stay left you dissatisfied in any way. Moving forward, we will continue striving to ensure a comfortable experience for all of our guests.

  I felt uneasy drivin...

  I felt uneasy driving up the narrow steep slope, but upon arrival, I felt a sense of nostalgia. We encountered a trouble with a power outage in Shikoku, but I am grateful for the thoughtfulness of the busy staff. I was able to bathe safely and was soothed by the thick, smooth water. This is a property I would like to visit again someday.

  Thank you very much for using our inn the other day. This time, you chose a plan without dinner and went out to a local restaurant, where you encountered a large-scale power outage, which must have been quite a surprise. Fortunately, it was after you had finished your meal and left the restaurant, so we are glad that nothing happened. The power outage was restored in about 40 minutes, allowing you to enjoy the Onsen. Despite the situation, we are relieved that our guests were able to stay without any major inconveniences. If you have another opportunity, we would be delighted if you could try our inn's proud dinner plan. We look forward to welcoming you again.

  The quality of the hot spring water was excellent.

  The facility is generally old. There were a few insects floating in the hot spring, but the amenities were good, and the quality of the spring water was excellent. The meals were all delicious, especially the fish (bonito, sea bream, sweetfish) which were outstanding. The road is narrow, but it's located on a hill, so it's safe even if a tsunami comes ( ´∀｀)

  Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us the other day. Our inn is a small accommodation with only nine rooms, and we do not accept preschool children or guests who only wish to use the bath, so we hope you were able to enjoy the hot springs at your leisure. The Shimanami Onsen, owned by the city of Shimanto, is characterized by its smooth texture, and we receive many requests for day-use bathing. However, we refrain from offering it to ensure that our staying guests can enjoy it without crowding. When you have to be considerate of others, you can't fully relax and enjoy the bath both physically and mentally. We are glad to hear that the meals suited your taste. Although we are located in a remote area at the far end of Shikoku, we hope you will consider staying with us again if you have the opportunity.
