  Senior-friendly Accommodation

  I booked this Accommodation for my elderly parents, with the condition that the Room had a private Onsen. Meals were served at table seating, with handrails throughout, and indoors they even lent us floor chairs and a cane. The meals also felt enjoyable for seniors. The insects were a little concerning, but it was truly an elderly-friendly Accommodation and very helpful.

  We had a truly luxurious stay.

  On our first family trip in a while, we came from central Honshu and didn’t know the area well. We chose Kurokawa Onsen, but since this Accommodation is away from the main Onsen town, we couldn’t tell where it was at first and felt a bit uneasy. In fact, it felt more like a secluded hot-spring retreat tucked into the mountains. Our Room was in a separate annex with an open-air bath. It faces the river and, although there is a roof, it truly feels outdoors. The water is 100% free-flowing straight from the source, with clear water running 24 hours a day—an incredibly luxurious bath. The Room is traditional Japanese architecture; for someone like me who loves old and well-made things, it was perfect. Even in this season, we stayed warm and rested well thanks to the air conditioning and twin beds. Dinner was sukiyaki, and breakfast was also Japanese-style with plenty of variety. All staff were friendly and smiling, and they answered our questions carefully. Thank you very much.

We understand that first-time visitors may feel some concern about our location, but we were delighted to hear that you enjoyed the quiet mountain setting, the detached Room facing the river, and the free-flowing open-air bath with natural hot spring water. We are also pleased that you found our traditional Japanese architecture, Room furnishings, bedding, and air conditioning comfortable.   Thank you for your patronage.

  We stayed as four families and everyone mentioned that they had a wonderful time together. The meals and the room's open-air bath were excellent, and we truly appreciated your hospitality. However, some of us got lost on the way to the ryokan as the guidance signs on the road leading from the main route were difficult to understand. We hope this can be improved in the future.

  Onsen Lover

  There were a few concerns, but overall it was good. However, I think the toilet slippers should be replaced with new ones.
