    間違えて部屋のスリッパで帰るところでした

    The Onsen and the meals were excellent.

    I stayed here with my daughter on a trip to Yamaguchi. We drove from Shin-Shimonoseki to the Ryokan by rental car. Right after arriving, we enjoyed the footbath, then the granite bath. After a walk around, we returned to the Ryokan for the open-air bath. After dinner, we used the bath in our Room. In the morning, we went to the hinoki-wood bath. After breakfast, we used the Room bath again. We really enjoyed all the Onsen. It may just have been how I felt, but when I woke up in the morning my fingers weren’t stiff like usual—maybe it was an Onsen effect. The food was delicious, the riverside scenery was beautiful, and there were few tourists, so it felt like a hidden gem. The staff at this Ryokan were also very welcoming and made it feel homey. The building showed its age, but that gave it character. The only disappointment was that the air conditioner in our Room didn’t cool well and it was uncomfortable. Maybe it’s an older unit? Also, there was a musty smell in the Room (different from sulfur) that bothered me. Still, I’d like to visit again if I have another chance, and if friends ask me for recommendations for a good Onsen getaway, this is an Accommodation I’d suggest.

    The bath was great.

    The open-air bath was wonderful. For dinner, we ate at Takase, a restaurant inside the Hotel known for kawara soba. The authentic kawara soba was delicious.

    A Gift for Parents

    I gifted my parents a stay at the accommodation. I joined them for the meal, and the natural and pleasant hospitality, as well as the clean interior and room, brought a sense of calm. The meal was visually stunning and absolutely delicious. Even my elderly parents with small appetites enjoyed their food, and perhaps thanks to some drinks, I was delighted to see them chatting happily. I am truly grateful. It reminded me of the importance of showing appreciation to our parents. I will definitely use this accommodation again!

    This was my first visit.

    The hospitality of the staff was excellent, and the private Onsen in the room was amazing, so I didn't even go to the public bath! (laughs) I would love to visit again. Thank you, everyone.

    I am satisfied, but...

    We expected the service mentioned in the reception guide, "Relax with a drink upon check-in before being shown to your Room," but there was no such service, and we had to carry our luggage to the Room ourselves. Additionally, we noticed a flyer for a firefly tour at reception and inquired about it, only to find out that we could join. However, if we hadn't noticed it ourselves, there would have been no guidance provided. This was disappointing. During the tour itself, the staff were very friendly and made our participation enjoyable. The meals were abundant and satisfying. The Miyazaki beef and abalone were tender and delicious. The female staff member who served us provided excellent service by pacing the dishes according to ours and showing great attentiveness. However, breakfast was disappointing as some items like sausages were cold, and the salmon lacked seasoning.

    Casual?!

    The faucet handle in the washroom came off, so I had to be cautious while using the water. The linens were rougher, thinner, and less comfortable compared to those at the Business Hotel I stayed at the day before. The matcha salt served with the meal was hard and required tapping with chopsticks to use. Clearing dishes was not done unless prompted, and there were no polite phrases like "Excuse me" or "May I clear this?"—it felt indifferent. The bath was also disappointing. Perhaps this is what they mean by casual... I don't think I'll ever stay here again.

    Stays at Chebus

    Unable to book at the Yamamura Annex, we stayed at Stays. It was a warm day that didn't feel like November, which was nice, but the long outdoor corridor and outdoor stairs to the room were inconvenient. The long outdoor stairs to the annex's large public bath were also inconvenient, and the facility was not worth the effort to visit. The meals at Stays were all delicious, and I was pleased that the bath in the room was an onsen.

    It was delicious.

    I stayed at Chefs for one night. The food was incredibly delicious. Each dish, like the grilled sweet sea bream with its rich flavor and fluffy texture, allowed the natural taste of the ingredients to shine through, while still being a satisfying culinary experience. I was thoroughly satisfied and thought, "Ah, because it's Chefs..." and felt oddly convinced. The staff were warm, and I enjoyed the Onsen in the Room, which was my main purpose, allowing me to relax. This time, I came to watch a soccer match, but there are so many great places in Yamaguchi, so I want to come back for sightseeing and stay here again. The table on the veranda of the Room was a sunken kotatsu, so I think it would be even more enjoyable if I came in winter.

    A Long-Awaited Onsen Accommodation

    I stayed here again after a long time. Last time, I stayed in a room with a bed that felt like a Business Hotel, but this time I stayed alone in a traditional Japanese-style Room with an Onsen accommodation atmosphere, which could accommodate 4-5 people. The tatami mats were new, the view was excellent, and I had a very pleasant stay. In the evening, I took a walk near the Hotel; the walking path was well-maintained and just the right distance for an after-Onsen stroll. The breakfast the next morning was also delicious. Thank you for your hospitality.

    I was very satisfied.

    The food was delicious and the Facility was impeccably clean. However, the best part was the smiles of all the staff. I will work hard every day so that I can visit again.
