The hospitality was wonderful, and it was great to be able to relax and enjoy in-room dining. We were very satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. What especially stayed with us was the charming atmosphere created by the torii gate in the courtyard. The renovated private bath was outstanding—both the space and the Onsen were excellent. It’s a private bath we would highly recommend to anyone staying here!

    We had a relaxing stay.

Because I was traveling with my elderly mother (in her 80s, with lower back pain), I consulted in advance, and they provided a rollaway bed in our Room and also brought in a table for in-room dining. Instead of taking the garden path with stairs to the entrance as usual, a staff member picked us up by car at the parking lot, and we entered through the rear entrance on the 4th floor. Since our Room had a private bath, my mother felt at ease and was able to soak comfortably. Even when the water was hot, she could adjust it with cold water and enjoy several baths. The meals were on the Standard Plan, but every dish was easy to eat, delicious, and more than enough in quantity. The trainee also explained each dish carefully and kindly offered to take photos for us. We were able to relax very peacefully during our stay. Just one thing: because there was a step down at the toilet entrance, I felt it might be a little unsafe for elderly guests; it would be better if it were flat or had a ramp. This time we spent most of our time in the Room, but if we have another opportunity to stay again, we would like to enjoy the garden and the open-air bath as well.

    A relaxing Ryokan.

My husband, his older sister, and her grandchild—three seniors—visited with our first-year junior high school son. My husband and I also stayed here seven years ago. The weather looked uncertain that day, so we moved our ropeway plans to the next day and arrived early. We were able to use the Onsen and relax until check-in, enjoying the Onsen at a leisurely pace. The food was beautifully prepared, and everyone was impressed. My koji class instructor uses the phrase “food that feels good on your stomach,” and this was exactly that. My sister-in-law is 83 and kept saying how delicious everything was; even though she said she couldn’t possibly eat that much, she finished it all. Breakfast was also enjoyable with both a bento option and a buffet. Our Room had been renovated and was very clean. All of the staff were young, energetic, and refreshing. Their language was polite as well, and we had a very pleasant two-day stay. I mentioned this while chatting with the staff—and then carelessly added that “everyone is cute,” which I now regret as an inappropriate comment about appearance.

    It was great.

We chose this Accommodation because of the good Reviews. When we were told there were 30–40 steps from the parking lot to the entrance, I worried because my mother has difficulty walking, but they provided a Shuttle Service by car to the 4th-floor entrance, which was reassuring. Although the Ryokan itself is old, it is well maintained and clean, and we had a pleasant stay. The staff at the Ryokan were kind and courteous. The large public bath is not very spacious, but it was clean, and the open-air bath felt cool and comfortable despite the heat. The meals were generous in portion size, and everything—including Matsusaka beef—was delicious. Since dinner was served in our Room, I did notice some lingering odors afterward, but overall we were satisfied. Thank you very much.

    Highly rated accommodation

It was a highly satisfying Accommodation. Not only were the Room spotless and the staff wonderful, but every dish at dinner was delicious, leaving us with the strong impression that we stayed at a truly great place. With this level of satisfaction at this price, we didn’t mind that the building is older. If we visit Yunoyama Onsen again, we would sincerely love to stay at this Accommodation again. Many thanks to all the staff.

A relaxing stay at the historic Accommodation “Jutei”

Our family of four stayed at Yunoyama Onsen Kotobukitei in Mie Prefecture for two nights and three days, and enjoyed a truly relaxing getaway. Kotobukitei’s greatest appeal is its historic building, designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. The moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by an atmosphere that feels like traveling back to a bygone era. What impressed us most during our stay was the dining service. As vegetarians, we were delighted that the head chef thoughtfully prepared special breakfasts and dinners just for us. Each dish was beautifully presented like a work of art, with delicate flavors that reflected true craftsmanship and heartfelt care. This is a wonderful Accommodation, but there is one thing to note: it’s best suited for light travel. Due to the historic architectural layout, carrying two or more large suitcases may feel slightly inconvenient when moving around. Traveling with lighter luggage will make it easier to fully enjoy the Onsen ambiance. Our family of four spent three days and two nights at Yunoyama Onsen Kotobukitei in Mie Prefecture, enjoying a soothing holiday. Kotobukitei’s biggest charm is that it is designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. The building itself has a rich sense of history—step inside and it feels as if you’ve traveled back in time. What moved us most on this trip was the dining service. Because one of us follows a vegetarian diet, the chef thoughtfully prepared dedicated breakfasts and dinners for us. Every dish was refined like an artwork, with layered flavors that conveyed genuine craftsmanship and sincerity. Although everything here is excellent overall, there is one small point to keep in mind: this place is best for light travel. Since the building preserves its original historic structure, bringing two or more large suitcases may make carrying luggage and getting around somewhat inconvenient. We recommend packing light so you can enjoy your Onsen stay even more comfortably!

    Dinner was absolutely delicious!

We stayed for one night! Dinner was incredibly delicious. We visit various Ryokan, but we were truly impressed by the care put into the meal—the flavor balance and portion size were both very satisfying. It was so good that we got excited and even ordered extra venison game meat and Matsusaka pork ginger stir-fry, and ended up completely full, but very happy. I’d love to bring my mother and grandmother next time. If possible, it would be great to have dinner at a table, as they have trouble with their legs and back. We’ll definitely visit again!!

    Maternity Trip

Thinking we wouldn’t be able to travel for a while after the baby is born, I stayed here with my 4-year-old son. Because of the snow, they kindly came to pick us up from another parking lot, which I really appreciated. As we climbed up the mountain, the scenery opened up like a true snowy region, and it was very exciting. Just as many Reviews mention, everyone—starting with the bus driver—was extremely polite and attentive. When borrowing toys, they were also very kind to my son, which made me happy. Dinner was served in our Room, so we could eat without worrying about others and relax at our own pace. Every dish was carefully prepared and delicious. Even my husband, who usually eats a lot, was completely full—the amount of food was more than enough and we were very satisfied. Since I’m pregnant, they also took care with ingredients such as raw foods—thank you very much. At breakfast there was a kids’ buffet corner, and my son was thrilled. We reserved a private bath (hinoki cypress), and it was such a wonderful space that felt truly luxurious. I was also glad that the shower head and hair dryer were all ReFa products. They had plenty of baby items available for loan as well, so once things settle down after childbirth, I’d love to stay at this Accommodation again. Thank you very much.

    The starry sky was beautiful.

I visited a few years ago, and it felt like the central courtyard in the middle of the building had been beautifully renovated. Luckily, it was clear and the starry sky was stunning. Being up in the mountains with so little surrounding light is wonderful. I’m also glad we could see the night view of Yokkaichi. There are also gourmet luxury auberges at the foot of Yunoyama Onsen, but in the end, the view really matters. Dinner was delicious, but breakfast was even more impressive: as shown in the photos, a 12-item platter plus an additional buffet corner. There’s an Onsen called Hirugami Onsen known for a 31-item breakfast set called “Tanka-zen,” and we joked that this one—with hot pot, grilled dishes, and chawanmushi—would be “Haiku-zen” if you add rice and miso soup. The buffet even had ramen; adding that would throw off the syllable count. I couldn’t manage to eat that much anyway. The attendant at breakfast was also very charming, so overall it was a great Accommodation.

A tranquil Onsen with a relaxing atmosphere in Mie’s secluded retreat area

I stayed here in August. I came from Yokkaichi on the Kintetsu Yunoyama Line. They picked me up at the station, and we headed into the mountains more quickly than I expected; the Accommodation was on a slightly elevated spot. I entered after passing through a charming Japanese garden. First, I soaked in the Onsen, and while enjoying the view from the open-air bath, I realized I was at a higher altitude than I had thought. Dinner was served in my Room. The local ingredients were delicious. On my way back, they also drove me to the station. The driver was polite and entertaining, which made it even better.

This Accommodation was even better than expected!

I often stopped by Yunoyama Onsen for a day trip bath after hiking. I had an old-fashioned impression of Yunoyama Onsen, but this was my first time staying overnight. Jutei does feel a bit dated, but what immediately catches your eye is the garden you walk through on the way to your Room. You can enter the building through a truly lovely garden. Dinner was served in the Room, so we could relax and enjoy it at our own pace. We were traveling with our 2-year-old grandchild, so having dinner in the Room was especially appreciated. There were many other families with small children as well, and I felt this Accommodation is very welcoming to young kids. The staff member who served our in-room dinner was also very kind. Breakfast was served at the dining venue, and it was excellent too. There were plenty of amenities near the baths, which was great. All of the staff were kind, making this a comfortable and pleasant Accommodation. The only downside was that I noticed an odor in the Room. However, overall satisfaction was so high that by the time we left, I had gotten used to it (laugh). Thank you for taking such good care of us.

    The meals are excellent!

My son stayed here last summer, and he told me how wonderful the meals were, making great use of local ingredients. So I visited soon after with my elderly parents. As expected, the food was truly outstanding. We would love to visit again in a different season. Thank you very much for your thoughtful help, including preparing an extra bed. However, my father had been looking forward to enjoying the garden at the entrance, but we decided not to because we were worried about the steps and footing there. It also poured with rain at check-in, so you kindly guided us to use the back entrance and arranged a bus at short notice, but we still ended up completely soaked. Since we had consulted with you in advance about my elderly parents’ stay, I feel that if we had been informed beforehand about the steps at the main entrance, check-in could have gone more smoothly.

The meals for children felt like frozen food. For adults, while there were many dishes, the seasoning seemed somewhat inconsistent. It was appreciated that the young staff members were friendly and interacted kindly with the children. The Onsen in the room was very relaxing!

    That's unfortunate.

The building and facilities are outdated, with an unpleasant smell, and the room door was shocking. It felt like arriving at an apartment complex, which was quite surprising. The staff were doing their best, but the meals were average, and this accommodation was so different from the reviews—it was a first for me. Honestly, I wanted to go back home. The photos mostly featured private baths with additional charges, which felt misleading.

    A Moment of Relaxation

Stayed for one night on August 14th. It was my first time at a Ryokan, and I was extremely satisfied. The private baths were absolutely amazing! I used one in the evening and another in the morning. Both the bathing areas and dressing rooms were spacious and comfortable. Plus, you can enjoy them for a full hour, allowing complete relaxation to the core of your body. For dinner, I chose the tasting of three premium beef varieties, which was incredibly delicious. There was a minor issue during my stay, but several staff members showed such thoughtful care that I felt truly humbled by their kindness. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality! I will definitely visit again without fail. Much appreciated!

We stayed at this accommodation during a visit to my son, who is currently stationed locally. The high-quality atmosphere unique to a traditional ryokan, the stunning view from the guest room, and the exceptional taste of the meals were all impressive. Despite its older facilities, everything was well-maintained and beautifully utilized, making it an excellent value for a luxury ryokan. It was such a wonderful onsen accommodation that I would love to stay here again.

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

We stayed as a group of four, including two children. From the parking guidance to the farewell after checkout, every staff member greeted us with a smile. The staff in charge of our room was especially kind, speaking warmly to our younger child even when they were feeling fussy, which we greatly appreciated. Both the private and public baths were clean and relaxing, even for families with children. The meals were excellent for both dinner and breakfast, but I was particularly impressed by breakfast. The combination of a set meal with side dishes and a half-buffet style offered the perfect balance of variety, portion size, and taste—simply outstanding. There were also mini-games for children to enjoy and an elegant courtyard to explore... there are so many wonderful aspects that I can't list them all here! We had such a pleasant time during our stay. I would love to visit again!

    Celebrating My Father's 90th Birthday

To celebrate my father's 90th birthday, we decided on Jyutei after he expressed his wish to visit Yunoyama. To prepare, we visited the area in advance and even checked YouTube thoroughly. Yunoyama had a slightly nostalgic feel, but fulfilling my father's wish was the priority. Off to Jyutei! Although stairs were impossible for my elderly father, the staff kindly arranged a shuttle service for an easy check-in. The room offered a stunning view of the ropeway, which delighted my father immensely. The meal was already sufficient without additional orders, but since it was a special celebration, we added more dishes anyway. The abundance of food left my father completely satisfied and happy. The staff's cheerful hospitality was much appreciated as well. It was truly a charming accommodation with historical charm. When my father expressed his desire to ride the ropeway, they kindly provided shuttle service to the entrance—thank you again! It turned out to be such a wonderful celebration for his 90th birthday!

    Thank you for your patronage.

I stayed for the Onsen and the ropeway. The ropeway parking was paid, so it was convenient to use the discount ticket and parking provided by the Hotel. The Room was in a slightly older building with many stairs, but during checkout, they kindly carried my luggage to the distant parking lot. Thank you very much!

    I had a relaxing stay.

The shuttle service to the station was very kind, raising our expectations even before entering the accommodation. From the entrance of the ryokan to the front desk and room, we were guided with great care and hospitality. The private bath in the evening was new, clean, and provided a relaxing experience. Dinner was served in-room, featuring a variety of beautifully crafted and delicious dishes accompanied by warm and attentive service that made for an enjoyable meal. The private bath at night was different from the one in the evening but equally relaxing. Most impressively, the room was incredibly quiet with no noise at all—a pleasant surprise. The stunning view of Mount Gozaisho Ropeway from our room is also worth mentioning. This ryokan exceeded our expectations in every way. Thank you to all staff members for your heartfelt hospitality!

    Satisfaction for all four generations!

Thank you very much for your hospitality. We traveled as a four-generation family, including my mother in her 90s and children aged 1 to 5. Special care was taken for my elderly mother, and we were guided to an entrance with minimal steps. The meals were all delicious, elegant, and easy to eat for both the elderly and young children, leaving everyone fully satisfied. Everyone had a comfortable stay. Thank you so much!

It was a quiet accommodation located in the mountains. The meals were delicious. It was a bit disappointing that there was so much food in the morning that I couldn't finish it. The private bath was luxurious. It would be nice if the price for the private bath were a bit more reasonable.

    The cuisine, service...

The cuisine, service, atmosphere, and onsen were all absolutely satisfying! The building has a historical feel—while it may be considered old by some, this added to its charm and made it even more wonderful. Despite its age, the accommodation was impeccably clean, allowing for a very comfortable stay. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious! We used the private onsen during sunrise; both the changing room and bath had a pleasant wooden aroma that enhanced the atmosphere. The onsen itself was excellent, and we appreciated having ReFa showerheads & hairdryers available. Many of the staff members were young or from overseas, but everyone provided polite and exceptional service. On our way home, my partner and I talked about how much we’d love to stay here again—it truly was an unforgettable experience. Thank you so much!

I have visited 6 times already.

This is my favorite Ryokan that I visit almost every year. The food is delicious, and having meals served in the Room creates a very relaxing atmosphere. We rented a private bath called "Tsuru-Kame no Yu," and I was delighted to find that the hairdryer and showerhead were from ReFa. The staff were kind and helpful—thank you very much. I look forward to visiting again next year.

Not suitable accommodation for those with mobility issues.

The room had a private Onsen, but...

I stayed in a room with an onsen bath at this long-established accommodation in Yunoyama Onsen. The food was delicious, and the service from the staff in charge of the room was excellent, making it a very comfortable stay overall. However, one downside was the strong chlorine-like smell from the onsen. The smell was particularly strong in the room's bath, which somewhat diminished the value of having an onsen bath attached to the room. That said, it was still a wonderful accommodation overall. *We understand this may be necessary for hygiene purposes.*

Delighted with the cuisine and service!

I was looking for an Onsen near Nagoya and found this place. We chose a plan with a private bath. For dinner, we added Matsusaka beef. The Onsen and private bath were relaxing and enjoyable. Dinner exceeded expectations for the price, and we were very satisfied with the content. The Matsusaka beef steak was delicious. We especially loved the Usui Nabe; it had a unique flavor we hadn't tried before, very gentle and comforting. The Basque cheesecake dessert was also delightful! We also added venison tataki, so we ended up eating too much! The breakfast buffet had plenty of variety, leaving us full and completely satisfied. The shuttle service was very convenient and much appreciated. They even dropped us off at Forest Adventure on our way back, which was incredibly helpful—thank you so much! All the staff provided excellent service that made us feel great throughout our stay. Both my spouse and I were extremely happy with the hospitality, food, and overall experience! We would love to visit again if given another opportunity!
