    A welcoming Facility that’s perfect for swimming at the beach.

    We stayed again this year, following last year’s visit. This time, it was a 2-night, 3-day beach trip for three of us: an elderly couple and our granddaughter (first grade). Both on arrival and departure, the staff guided us in the parking lot, helped carry our luggage, and spoke to us kindly—this was extremely helpful. Working in this heat must be tough; thank you for all your hard work. The building was very clean, and the Room cleaning was thorough. The meals were delicious, and we enjoyed dinner both nights while watching beautiful sunsets. The dinner style differed between the first and second nights: on the first night we had a kaiseki course featuring Murakami beef shabu-shabu as the main dish, and on the second night we had a seafood kaiseki course. Both the Murakami beef on day one and the crab on day two were excellent—our granddaughter finished her crab within minutes of starting dinner. If I had to ask for one thing, I would have loved even a small portion of Murakami beef on the second night as well, since it’s something you can only eat when visiting this area (though we do make use of hometown tax donations). We were originally told that dinner would be at “Kaiou” on both nights, but about 15 minutes before dinner on the second night we suddenly received notice of a venue change. The staff member apologized repeatedly; however, in a Hotel that accommodates so many guests, it actually reassured me that careful checks are being done in advance. Buffet-style dining isn’t bad, but for an elderly couple like us, having kaiseki served at just the right timing is much easier. I sincerely hope you will continue offering it. It’s also wonderful that right behind the Hotel is a beach with excellent access: after leaving the beach we could rinse off sand at the outdoor showers and head straight to the Onsen. There was even a washing machine available to rinse swimsuits—truly convenient. After soaking in the Onsen, all three of us relaxed in the lobby while enjoying complimentary Momotaro ice pops. On day two, when we asked at reception for advice so we could enjoy swimming at Sasagawa Nagare Beachline area more fully—including which beach and where to park—they kindly helped us with great care. There was also plenty of information we couldn’t get from checking with AI beforehand; combining both made our trip even more enjoyable. Local knowledge really is invaluable. On our final day as well—at our granddaughter’s request—we enjoyed swimming until mid-afternoon before rinsing off sand in the shower and saltiness in the Onsen prior to heading home. Driving back to Tokyo after swimming was tiring, but it became a fulfilling trip full of wonderful memories. If my stamina holds up, I’d love to come again next year. Thank you very much.

    The reviews are too good.

    The Reviews are rated too highly. The meals were average. The in-room open-air bath was too hot to use; when I diluted it with water, it became a constant flow of cold water. Some of the food items made me wonder if they were not cooked in the Hotel kitchen but sourced from an outside vendor. The large public bath’s open-air bath was spacious and nice. Overall, the Hotel felt old.

    Highly recommended Accommodation.

    We stayed in a barrier-free twin Room. By chance, it was on the second floor where the front desk is located, close to reception and with easy access to dining and the large public bath, which was very convenient. What stood out most was the view from the Hotel—nothing blocked the horizon, and the sunset was spectacular. We made a Reservation for a small gourmet course, and we were extremely satisfied with both the portion size and quality. We were also able to use a private bath that is usually paid for at no charge; both the open-air and indoor baths were spacious and high quality, highly recommended. The bed and Room were comfortable, but above all, we felt that the staff’s attentiveness and high level of service are this place’s greatest strength.

    The sunset is breathtaking, and dinner is outstanding.

    The sunset views are spectacular from both the Room and the dining area. Breakfast was also delicious, especially the seafood. The hot spring water is clear and colorless. The freshly cooked rice in a pot at dinner was excellent, and I ate more than usual.

    For your trip to Niigata

    It was a clean and nice Hotel. The bath was also large and comfortable. Because the futon was thin, I slept with the heater turned up. The meals were delicious, so I thought it would be nice to have refills of rice. The whole Room was vibrating, and I wondered if an engine was running, but I decided not to worry about it and just think of it as being on a ship. Thank you.

    We enjoyed a stunning sunset over the Sea of Japan.

    We stayed in the top-floor Kairo. The views were outstanding from the spacious Room and from the private open-air bath in the Room (it was not an Onsen), and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. We also enjoyed chatting with the staff member who served our in-room meal; everything was presented with great care. We thoroughly enjoyed the Murakami beef shabu-shabu, seafood, and more—especially the Iwafune-grown Koshihikari rice cooked in a pot, which was exceptionally delicious. At breakfast, we highly recommend the fresh flounder and sea bream sashimi at the buffet. As it was a Japanese-Western style Room with beds, it was easy on our legs and back. Next time, we would like to watch the sunset from the large public bath Onsen.

    It was incredibly relaxing.

    We stayed in a Japanese-Western style Room on the top floor of Soyokaze-kan. The view from the Room was excellent, and the bed was very comfortable—we slept soundly. The meals at the restaurant were also delicious. For dinner, the Murakami beef teppanyaki and noppe soup stood out, and for breakfast, the sashimi and salad as well as the Murakami beef curry rice were especially memorable. The Onsen was spacious, and we could relax while soaking with a view of the sea. In particular, it was nice that the men’s bath has separate tubs for lukewarm and hot water. We also received free drink tickets and tasting tickets for a nearby liquor shop, and overall the services are well provided—excellent in every way. If I had to mention anything, I felt the jelly in the in-room refrigerator wasn’t really necessary. Also regarding dessert at dinner—this may simply be a matter of personal taste—but I thought something simpler with more fruit would have been fine rather than an elaborate dessert. (That said, it was a positive point that we could see thoughtful touches reflecting the season.) Even so, this is an Accommodation that truly made us feel “we’re glad we stayed—it was wonderful.” We would love to stay again.

    A charming Showa-era retro Accommodation

    Although some time has passed, I stayed here in mid-January. On the second day of my 3-night, 4-day winter trip to Niigata, I stayed at this Accommodation. I had originally made a Reservation elsewhere, but changed it to this one at the last minute and was lucky enough to get a Japanese-style Room with beds on the “Kaitenro Floor,” which happened to be available. The Room offered a full view of the Sea of Japan through large glass windows, had been renovated and was very clean—and on top of that, it was extremely reasonably priced. The large public bath features a spacious open-air bath facing the Sea of Japan, and the location is outstanding. (A low-pressure system was approaching and there were occasional strong winds with snow mixed in.) Even so, it was incredibly refreshing—wonderful. Dinner was served in a dining venue, and that turned out to be great. The music playing in the hall included Paul Mauriat’s “Love Is Blue,” creating a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere that brought back memories of Onsen Accommodations I visited with my late parents—something I truly appreciated. The food was also delicious beyond what you’d expect for the price (in a good way), starting with grilled blackthroat seaperch. The breakfast buffet offered an excellent variety as well—I ended up eating too much again. Staying at Taikanso this time, everything exceeded expectations: the Room, meals, Onsen—and of course great value for money—but above all else, the staff were outstanding. Their courteous service surpasses even many high-end Accommodations. This is definitely an Accommodation I want to visit again. It’s a bit far for me, but I’d love to return in another season. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

    The service and meal...

    The service and meals were excellent, and we had a very comfortable stay. We could easily walk down to the beach from the Hotel and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. The Onsen had both indoor and open-air baths, so we were able to enjoy the open-air bath as well. It became a wonderful memory.

    A Friendly Accommodation Where Everyone Is Kind

    My friend and I stayed for two nights. This is my first time writing a Review, but it was such a wonderful Accommodation that I wanted to share my thanks as well… Traveling with two very young children was tough, but the breathtaking view of the Sea of Japan as soon as we arrived and the truly satisfying meals made it all worthwhile. Above all, every staff member was kind, and it was a time that soothed both body and mind. The Onsen was spacious, and we used it many times during our stay. Next time, I will definitely come back with my husband. Thank you very much.

    The property was spotless throughout, and the staff were very friendly and professional. The sunset view from the Room was beautiful. The meals were very luxurious, and everything was delicious. The sauna temperature in the bath area was too low and not quite satisfying.

    This Accommodation offers great value for money.

    It was such a reasonably priced Plan that, to be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect—but just as other guests’ Reviews said, it was a wonderful Accommodation. The moment I entered the Room, there was an ocean view filling the entire window. I had been looking forward to the sunset; it was partly hidden behind clouds, but I still got to fully enjoy the winter Sea of Japan. Since it happened to be during the Olympics, it was especially comfortable relaxing in the clean, spacious Room—watching on a large-screen TV while enjoying the complimentary ice cream (made with Yasuda Yogurt) and having some tea. The meals were served at just the right pace, and everything—from fresh sashimi to Murakami beef shabu-shabu—was delicious. And as expected from Niigata, they cooked the rice right in front of us; I ended up finishing all of it even though I usually leave some (laugh). And above all, the Onsen. The open-air bath is impressively spacious. Soaking slowly with the sea right in front of me… it was truly amazing. Maybe because it was a weekday in winter, but I honestly wondered if this price was really okay—an Accommodation with outstanding value for money. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

    Warm, heartfelt hospitality

    All staff provided heartfelt hospitality and attentive service, making this a very comfortable Accommodation. The Room shows some signs of age, but with the sea right in front of you, the sunset and open view were wonderful. The spacious open-air bath was also excellent!

    We stayed here to create wonderful memories during our winter vacation.

    We stayed at this accommodation with a private Onsen bath for the last three days of winter break, as nearby facilities were either fully booked or too expensive. The interior design felt like it was from the Heisei era, but everything was clean, and there was even a welcome drink available from a vending machine, which was helpful. Facing the wild Sea of Japan added an extraordinary sense of escape. The staff were all kind (though one restaurant employee could have been more polite), and they treated our children warmly. The room was clean and included thoughtful touches like a water pitcher, welcome jelly, and snacks that delighted the kids. The beds had mattresses with bases and were as comfortable as those in major city hotels. While opening the shoji screens let in some cold air, closing them kept the room warm enough. Meals featured local delicacies such as Murakami beef along with fresh seafood, which were delicious and enjoyed by our children. Breakfast was buffet-style with sufficient variety and quantity considering the price. The large public bath had just the right temperature while the private Onsen bath was slightly hotter. Unlike thick-textured waters like Tsukioka Onsen's, this sodium-chloride spring allowed for multiple soaks without feeling overwhelming. Though its warmth didn’t last long after bathing, combined with stunning views it had an inexplicable charm that made us want to keep returning. On our way back home we stopped by a salmon shop and tried glass-making experiences. Although it's quite far from Niigata City or Shibata City making access challenging at times, you can enjoy exploring old townscapes and experiencing salmon culture here. We highly recommend visiting this unique accommodation where you can enjoy both extraordinary moments and relaxation!

    The meals and Onsen were excellent.

    Stayed for 3 nights over the New Year holidays and thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meals, with a variety of creative menus each evening that never felt repetitive. On New Year's Day, we were delighted to have mochi as well. The baths were spacious, and the temperature of the outdoor onsen was just right. The only minor issue was that the interior felt a bit chilly, likely due to the cold wave at the time. The staff were kind and attentive, making our stay very relaxing. Thank you!

    Casual

    I was unsure whether to choose a Ryokan or a Hotel, but I decided on this Hotel because of the ocean view. Although I couldn't see the sunset due to rain, the morning view was stunning and very satisfying. Perhaps because it is a Hotel, it felt a bit casual, which was slightly disappointing. I also wished for an infinity bath. However, both dinner and breakfast were served with an ocean view, providing a sense of openness that was satisfying. The meals included Murakami beef, abalone, and nodoguro fish; however, I felt they could have been slightly more luxurious. Overall, it was an Accommodation where you can enjoy beautiful ocean views for relaxation and unwind in the bath at your leisure.

    I stayed for two nights during the autumn foliage season. The location is absolutely stunning, offering a panoramic view of the sunset over the Sea of Japan from the lobby and spacious baths. What stands out most is the subtle attentiveness and thoughtfulness of the staff. From their quick and precise responses before my stay to the considerate words from everyone, including shuttle service drivers, front desk staff, dining hall attendants, and cleaning staff—it all made for a stress-free experience. This accommodation provides a calm and warm atmosphere, and I would love to stay here again.

    I had a pleasant and relaxing time.

    Upon arriving at the ryokan, everything from the parking guidance to the front desk and room staff was well-trained, allowing us to truly feel genuine hospitality. Our tired bodies were rejuvenated with a relaxing atmosphere and a soothing bath, providing both physical and mental healing. The meals included local dishes and sashimi, and we enjoyed talking about how Niigata rice is sweet and delicious while savoring freshly cooked white rice made in an individual pot. The bath with an ocean view was exceptional. This has become an onsen accommodation we would love to visit again.

    Room with an open-air bath where you can hear the sound of waves offers the ultimate relaxation.

    This time, we stayed in the Daikan Wing with an open-air bath. The accommodation is not new, but it was clean and well-maintained. The sunny weather allowed us to enjoy a spacious room with a window view of the sparkling sea, making our stay very pleasant. To access the large public bath, you need to go down to the first floor and walk through a long corridor. The bath offers a view of the sea while soaking, creating an open and relaxing atmosphere that makes you want to stay forever. In the evening, we used the ceramic open-air bath attached to our room. It provided privacy for relaxation while listening to the sound of waves and watching the setting sun glow—a perfect moment of healing. Dinner featured local ingredients from Murakami with dishes rich in regional flavors—it was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed shabu-shabu made with Murakami beef and straw-grilled nodoguro fish. The sashimi we ordered separately was fresh and sweet, while noppe soup had crunchy kuwai as an excellent accent—an impressive use of ingredients! The staff's explanations were gentle and kind; they frequently checked on us regarding serving times for each dish, allowing us to dine comfortably. The presentation on plates was beautiful—visually delightful as well! And most importantly—the rice was amazing! From our dining area, we could also see a stunning sunset—a feast for both taste buds and eyes. Falling asleep listening to ocean waves after so long reminded me how wonderful it is by the sea. Breakfast offered luxurious Japanese-style dishes featuring delicious white rice—it truly stood out! Although this trip was decided on short notice, it turned out incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. We would love to visit this accommodation again when it gets warmer. Thank you very much!

    The private open-air bath was too hot, but the view was amazing!

    Reserved a room with an open-air bath and arrived at the facility excited. The staff at reception provided clear and efficient explanations, and the view of the Sea of Japan was breathtaking. Dinner was also exceptional—my husband commented that the food here is authentic. However, the open-air bath was too hot. Although there was a hose to adjust the temperature, it was disappointing as I couldn't enjoy it properly. As someone who loves open-air baths, I gave up after just one try. Please consider this for improvement. P.S.: The rainbow on Monday morning was spectacular!

    Stayed in mid-October with three generations of family. Elderly parents stayed in a Japanese-style room with an open-air bath, while we stayed in a Western-style room with a private bath, using two separate rooms. Both rooms were clean, spacious, and excellent. The open-air bath in the room had plenty of mineral deposits floating, which was exciting. The scent was a mix of oil-like aroma, sea breeze, and various Onsen fragrances. The meals were delightful with fresh rice and fish; everything was delicious. For dinner drinks, we chose the female staff's recommendation for alcohol—it was very smooth and tasty. This is a hotel where three generations can enjoy together. On our way back, we wanted to buy sake and freshly harvested Koshihikari rice. When we asked the staff about it, they kindly directed us to a nearby shop where we could purchase them.

    When we were trying to take a group selfie, someone kindly offered, "Shall I take it for you?" which made us very happy. The group photo became a wonderful memory. The staff's warm gestures and thoughtful interactions, not just with photos, made us feel at ease. We had a very pleasant stay!

    Wonderful views from the Room and heartfelt service

    The ocean view is absolutely stunning. You can enjoy the open sea view from the lobby, room, and dining area. Above all, the open-air Onsen is exceptional. The service is also warm and welcoming. The town of Murakami is very charming as well. However, the meals were somewhat underwhelming. While there were many dishes for both breakfast and dinner, only a few stood out as truly delicious. For dinner, the sashimi and rice were excellent, and the shabu-shabu was decent. The rest, unfortunately, was not as impressive. Surprisingly, the chocolate croissant at breakfast was quite tasty. It might be best to stick to a simple combination of rice, miso soup, Onsen egg, and pickles. Fewer but more refined dishes would be appreciated. Additionally, the music in the restaurant felt like something from a supermarket in the 1970s. It wasn’t nostalgic but rather reminiscent of shopping for groceries back then. Perhaps this is a common issue in rural areas? Still, this Ryokan offers great value for money, and I’d love to visit again with my wife and daughter next time.

    After visiting my mother's family grave for the first time in over a decade, we stayed overnight as a parent-child pair. The staff provided very courteous service, leaving a great impression. Our Room was a Japanese-style room with beds. It was spacious and clean, and when we opened the window, we were greeted by an expansive view of the sea with Awashima and Sado Island visible in the distance—we spent some time just admiring it. The welcome sweets were also delicious. We enjoyed the large public bath upon arrival and later used the private bath at night. The open-air bath with views of the sea was absolutely fantastic! The amenities were well-stocked and excellent; my mother particularly liked the BB cream so much that she purchased it at the gift shop before leaving. Breakfast was served buffet-style, offering delicious dishes that left us fully satisfied. Before coming here, my mother had said this might be her "last visit to our family grave," but thanks to how wonderful Daikanso is, she mentioned wanting to come back again someday! I would give everything five stars if I could—haha! One suggestion: having a nightlight or footlight in the Room would be helpful. While I prefer complete darkness when sleeping, my elderly mother needed to get up during the night for trips to the restroom; having just a small light would have been convenient for her. Since bedside lights were too bright, we ended up using only light from the bathroom overnight instead.

    You can enjoy a stunning sunset over the horizon from the large window in the Room. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, leaving you fully satisfied in the morning. It was excellent, and I would love to stay again.

    Accommodation you'd want to visit again with your family

    This accommodation, chosen for its natural hot spring and proximity to the sea, was perfect for a family trip with my daughter. Although I was initially concerned about the building's age as we approached, I was immediately impressed by the stunning ocean view from the lobby upon entering. The room offered a breathtaking view of the Sea of Japan, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Additionally, being able to access the beach directly from the accommodation and head straight to the large public bath afterward made it easy to fully enjoy swimming in the sea instead of just dipping our feet as planned. The large public bath had an abundant supply of hot water, and the view from the open-air bath was exceptional. Meals were well-balanced in flavor and portion size, and staff provided warm service that left us completely satisfied. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious options, allowing us to relax while enjoying our meal with views of the morning beach. Thank you very much! My entire family agrees—we would love to come back here again!
