It was a long-established culinary Ryokan.

I stayed overnight in Shimonoseki and was looking for an Accommodation where I could truly look forward to the meals. Since there was a Plan that included both fugu and beef, I made a Reservation right away. The building is a long-established culinary Ryokan with a sense of history, and I heard that locals use it for weddings and funerals as well as to enjoy seasonal fish dishes. The fugu was served as tessa (a Kansai term), with thick slices and an exceptional sweetness. The Miyazaki beef was also tender, and the combination was easy to enjoy. The dishes may look simple at first glance, but each one is carefully crafted—far beyond anything an amateur can judge. The staff were polite yet relaxed, offering thoughtful, unobtrusive service that made my stay very comfortable. That said, I wouldn’t recommend it to travelers whose main priority is the Facility. As a long-established Ryokan, the building clearly shows its age in a good way, and you can tell it has been carefully maintained. This was my first stay here, but I would definitely like to return the next time I visit Shimonoseki. Thank you very much.

    旅行、大好き

The Fuku-zukushi kaiseki course was outstanding.

The Kanmon Bridge was right in front of us, and after check-in we were able to walk out for sightseeing. The fugu kaiseki course was amazing—we were surprised by how generous the fugu sashimi portion was, and of course it tasted excellent. They even taught us a truly luxurious way to enjoy it: dipping fugu shabu-shabu into fin sake. From the rice porridge to dessert, we left completely full. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

Enjoy a Fuku Kaiseki meal with your family in private.

My daughter and I stayed at this Accommodation because we wanted to enjoy fuku, and it was absolutely the right choice! The food was truly delicious and wonderful—we were completely satisfied. The fuku kaiseki included a very generous portion of fugu sashimi, which felt wonderfully indulgent. All of the staff spoke in such a calm, gentle manner that it made us feel at ease. The proprietress also gave us clear sightseeing guidance with a lovely smile at checkout, which made us very happy! My daughter and I said we’d love to come back here every year at the start of the New Year. This time we made our Reservation for the last available Room, so next time we’ll book earlier—if we can get a higher floor, we may be able to enjoy an even better view of the Kanmon Straits. If I had one request, I would be happy if the corridor from the front desk to the Room were just a little brighter. Other than that, we were able to relax in the private open-air bath with its retro feel, and overall it’s a charming Accommodation full of atmosphere.

    Exquisite Blowfish

The Facility was old but well-maintained and clean. The historic gate at the entrance was impressive. The meal was a pufferfish course, and the pufferfish sashimi was the best I've ever had. The deep-fried pufferfish was also tender and delicious.

    Convenient for sightseeing

The meals for dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and delicious, and the Ryokan featured charming private open-air baths and rock baths. The night view of the illuminated Kanmon Bridge from the Room's window was stunning. Just a short walk from the Ryokan, there is an underground passage to walk across the Kanmon Strait, as well as statues commemorating the Battle of Dan-no-ura between Genji and Heike clans, making it perfect for sightseeing.

The meals are delicious at this Stays.

The meals were very delicious. The pufferfish course for dinner was excellent, and the breakfast was also wonderful and very tasty. The Facility itself is old, but it was kept very clean. The service was pleasant and satisfying. However, perhaps because it was a cold day when I stayed, even with the Room's air conditioning set to maximum heating, it was quite cold and not comfortable to stay (I even woke up from the cold while sleeping...). The washroom and toilet were particularly cold and harsh. I think it would have made a big difference if a stationary heater or something similar had been installed.

    I was able to relax.

Although it is an old Stays, it was clean, and we were able to relax without encountering other guests during meals or in the private bath. The fugu course meal was delicious, especially the beautifully arranged tessa, which was plentiful and tasty. Since we had my 94-year-old mother with us, I thought it would have been nice to have a tatami chair in the Japanese-style room. The sweets placed as a tea accompaniment were delicious, and I wanted to buy some, but I couldn't find the shop.
