Highly satisfied
We stayed here to celebrate a birthday. During the dinner buffet, they served a fruit plate and more, which made us very happy!! The hospitality and service deserve more than five stars. This is the first time I’ve truly wanted to stay again.

You get what you pay for.
We stayed as a couple. The building is clean and impressive, with an on-site bakery, café, and Onsen manju workshop. The Room was also clean. However, the food overall was just so-so in taste. The seafood in particular was disappointing... If there had been something like unlimited salmon roe, we might have been able to enjoy a Hokkaido-like experience. We appreciated the lemon water and barley tea provided at the large public bath, but both dispensers were empty. When we asked the cleaning staff to refill them, there was no response. They were refilled after our bath, though. I think this Accommodation is well-suited for families or groups, but I may not recommend it as much for couples.

It must be a historic accommodation.
The large public bath was spacious and relaxing, but I noticed some areas where maintenance seemed lacking, such as peeling wallpaper in the Room.

The check-in process should be improved.
A few years ago, when my family of four stayed in the Onsen Room with a private bath, we had to wait a long time to check in. Even after speaking to the front desk, it seemed like they only noticed then and we were made to wait again. Although we informed you of our expected check-in time at the time of Reservation, the same thing happened this time as well, and it has not improved. The dinner setup and the Room were excellent, but the small service details were disappointing. If that becomes standard, it would be perfect.

Room with Onsen
It was, personally, the best Room for me. It was so comfortable that I wished I could stay for several nights and truly relax. When I asked if you could serve dinner a bit earlier due to my schedule, you kindly accommodated my request, and I am very grateful. All of the staff were wonderful, and I had a very pleasant stay. Since I met up with an acquaintance, it would have been even better if there had been a Facility like a lounge or café where we could sit and talk over coffee at night. That said, overall I was extremely satisfied and was able to unwind both physically and mentally. If I have the chance, I would definitely like to stay again.

First time staying here
This was my first stay, and it was excellent. The Hotel staff were very welcoming, and I had a truly enjoyable time. The buffet meals offered a wide variety of options and were delicious. I was especially happy to find rice balls and red bean rice at breakfast. Since I can’t drink cold milk, I was delighted that hot milk was available. The bread was also very good.

Using our service again after a long time
This was my first stay in about 10 years.
I stayed alone, and the single Room had been renovated and was very clean.
It felt like there were fewer food options than before.
For the Shuttle Service, I could book online and received a reply confirming whether it was accepted right away, which was very convenient.
It was also nice that I could settle the bill at the self-service machine in front of the counter.
I plan to stay again.

Take your time!
Six of us dads took a trip together! We were very satisfied with the Onsen and the meals! There were some international guests, so the bath area was a bit noisy. But I guess that can’t be helped due to cultural differences.

Bath
There were Japanese guests with tattoos in the public bath. Because they were in the open-air bath, I couldn’t use it. It was disappointing.

Somewhat critical, but overall satisfied.
I stayed on April 29, but there was no questionnaire in the guest room, so I’m writing this as a Review here. I assume any inconvenient content won’t be posted, but at the very least I want this conveyed to the Hotel management. I believe this is a long-established and popular Onsen Accommodation in Jozankei. This time, since it was the first day of Golden Week and there was an unusually affordable Plan available, I stayed for one night. The staff who welcomed us at the entrance (an older man and a younger man), the person who handled check-in at the front desk (a foreign female staff member), the person who guided us to our seats at the buffet venue (a slightly older woman), and the staff member who noticed and cleared away piled-up dishes in the dining hall (a foreign staff member) all provided pleasant service. I’m glad I stayed. However, it was almost ruined because of just a few people. At dinner buffet, when we sat down right as it opened and I went to get the featured beef steak right away, the person in charge of steak bluntly said, “It’s not cooked yet.” When I came back later, there was no greeting such as “Welcome” or “Thank you for waiting,” and even when I said “Two portions please,” they ignored me. When I asked, “Excuse me—can you hear me?” they replied with an annoyed “Yes.” What is that? Because our seat was close to the steak station, I could see that they cheerfully said things like “Welcome,” “Thank you for waiting,” and “Thank you” to other guests (or rather, once it got busy—almost demonstratively), but not once to me. Another issue: around 10 p.m., when I went down to the first floor to get a replacement yukata, there was a male front desk staff member near the yukata area who completely ignored me. Can’t you say something like “Please enjoy your stay” or “Good night”? It left me feeling awful—I wondered if he thought he’d seen a ghost. At breakfast buffet reception time, an older Japanese male staff member and a foreign staff member greeted us energetically. But two or three young Japanese men in the dining hall moved mechanically and didn’t leave much of an impression. The person making rolled omelets also just kept cooking with a scowl; if you’re going to do that without saying anything anyway, please cook quietly out of sight—it’s unpleasant. The food is delicious and the Onsen feels great, but these few people ruined it. I probably won’t use this Accommodation again. And I won’t recommend it to anyone either—there are plenty of other options.

It became a wonderful memory.
To celebrate my daughter’s graduation. We used the Shuttle Service, but it was quite full, so I recommend making a Reservation early. Right after we arrived, they handed out welcome sweets and face masks, which was a lovely touch. The Room was clean, the food was delicious, and we could truly relax—overall we were very satisfied. I wish I had asked what aroma they use in the hallway because it smelled wonderful, and I also regret not trying the freshly roasted coffee. The scent of the skincare items (like toner) was a bit strong for me, so that was a downside. Next time I’ll bring my own. We felt great throughout our stay and made wonderful memories. Next time I’d like to bring my parents as well. I would recommend this place to everyone.

The sauna is amazing!
This was my first stay in 10 years. I suddenly wanted to relax, but everywhere was expensive during peak season, and this place was reasonably priced. It was also my first time since the sauna renovation, and the löyly worked great—nice and hot. There were two cold baths: a newly added one around 14°C, and a spacious tub at about 22°C, so I could switch between them and go in many times. Overall, it still feels a bit old, but I think sauna lovers will be very satisfied! Breakfast was delicious too—adding a bit more effort into the sweets might make female guests even happier. Since we booked the cheapest Room, there was an old smell lingering, and I wished I had brought room spray... The dimness and age of the elevator hall also felt a little lonely. I wonder if the renovated floors look completely different? The first floor has also become a stylish, lovely space—definitely my taste. If improvements are made to the cheaper Rooms, I’d like to stay for one night again. Until then, I’ll use it for day trips—and someday I’d love to try a Room with a private sauna.

The sleeves of the happi coat…
When I tried to put on the hanten, the sleeve was puffed up, so I thought something was inside. When I turned it inside out, there was a large clump of hair and dust. Since it didn’t have pockets, I asked for a replacement in case guests might put keys or other items in the sleeves. However, the next hanten had an overpowering smell like miso and was not wearable. When I stepped into the hallway, even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking floor, it seemed someone had smoked several times—there was heavy smoke and a strong odor. I informed the front desk immediately and they deodorized and ventilated the area, but after a few hours it returned to the same condition. The food is delicious overall, but the seating is too close together to relax, and wherever you go there are lines just to get food... I came hoping to relieve my fatigue, but ended up going home stressed instead. It feels like such a waste because the hot springs are great and the food is tasty.

It seems there’s no need to switch the bath between men and women?
The meals were excellent, and we would like to stay again. My wife mentioned that the Onsen swap was something they hadn’t done in the past, and that there seemed to be fewer hair dryers and dressing tables in the men’s area than in the women’s area.

The meals were delicious!
This was our first visit since the dining area renovation. We had stayed here several times before, and once again, we were very satisfied with the trip as a family. The food was delicious, and the Onsen was very relaxing. The food has always been impressive, and this time there were even more dishes to choose from. Almost everything we tried was delicious, and we ended up eating quite a lot! The Onsen experience was enjoyable as well, especially with the shampoo bar that our kids had so much fun picking from. However, one small disappointment this time was during breakfast. It was free seating, and since we went during a busy time slot, it took us several rounds around the venue to find a table for our family of five among many four-person tables. Eventually, a staff member helped us find seats. It would have been helpful if there had been an initial notice or guidance like "If you can't find a seat..." Additionally, it wasn't very clear whether some tables were occupied or vacated based on their signs. Other than that point, our satisfaction level remains high overall. We would love to stay here again if given another opportunity. Thank you for your hospitality!

Stayed at Jozankei Onsen as it was particularly affordable. The lobby decorations were luxurious, while the elevator and guest rooms (Western-style) felt a bit like an older hotel. Despite its age, the facility was clean and well-equipped, but the air conditioning was difficult to adjust, making it uncomfortably warm even in winter. The dining area was very spacious with a variety of menu options, though it lacked a sense of Hokkaido's local flavor. The large public bath had various types of baths to enjoy; however, inconsistencies in shower and chair heights made them somewhat inconvenient to use. While accessible by local bus, using the shuttle bus that goes directly to Sapporo Station is recommended.

Izakaya Great Satisfaction
We chose to dine at the izakaya "Kita no Kuni" instead of the buffet this time. It opens at 4 PM, and we first tried a light meal for 500 yen, which was satisfying. Later, we went back for dinner before 10 PM and enjoyed fresh scallops, ruibe (frozen sashimi), fried yamame trout, yakitori, and more—completely satisfied. However, although the last order was until 11 PM, by around 10:30 PM some items were already unavailable, which was a bit disappointing. The room, facility, and Onsen were satisfactory. The manju sweets were also delicious. The parking lot is convenient as it’s sheltered from snow; however, there is some waiting time involved. We might consider checking out earlier next time to avoid this issue.

Good.
I was very satisfied as I was able to use IKYU at a reasonable price, and the Room on the valley side that I had hoped for was prepared.

It was excellent.
This was my first visit to Jozankei. The Hotel has an overall score of 4.04 on IKYU.com, but I believe it deserves an even higher rating. It exceeded my expectations. The newly renovated Room was spacious and clean, allowing us to relax comfortably. The private Onsen bath attached to the room was also large, and we could enjoy the beautiful scenery of Jozankei while soaking in the Onsen. Since we traveled with a small child, we appreciated the thoughtful provision of a child's yukata and step stool. However, although there were several trash bins in the room, they might have been a bit too small. We had both dinner and breakfast in a private dining room at Kuksa on the second floor, which greatly enhanced our satisfaction. The staff serving us were kind and attentive. The shop on the first floor offered a wide variety of souvenirs. In addition, my son enjoyed playing in the play area at the back with its selection of picture books and toys. We were extremely satisfied with our stay! If I visit Jozankei again, I will definitely choose this Hotel for another stay!

Good food, good Onsen, mediocre service.
The meals were all delicious. I was satisfied with the onsen as I could take a leisurely bath. Regarding customer service, while individual skills may vary, I would like at least a minimum level of greeting since it is a service industry. The front desk staff, the staff at the dinner venue (except for the chef?), the breakfast venue staff (the woman in charge of rice balls, the elderly person at the entrance, and the short-haired man who was restocking), the two men at the souvenir shop, and the cleaning lady in the guest room all greeted me pleasantly. Others ignored me even when passing in the hallway. Did my stay cause inconvenience? It makes me sad.

Is there a limit to the efforts on site?
The buffet was extremely crowded, and we waited for over 30 minutes. The staff were polite and apologetic, but I think there's a limit to how much they can handle on the ground. The food itself was delicious, so I hope the staff can work more comfortably.

The cost performance was good.
I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay for snowboarding. In the end, I couldn't go snowboarding and stayed at the Hotel. The buffet meals were delicious, but the dinner and breakfast on both days were almost the same. Since there was a single line for numerous hot meals, it resulted in a long queue, and I got tired of waiting, so I couldn't get many refills. I think it would be better to have separate lines for each meal to distribute the crowd. As a Multiple Night Stay perk, we were served oysters, but there were only two pieces for two people, which made me wish they hadn't served them at all. The Onsen had a sufficiently large bath, and both the sauna and cold bath were authentic and excellent. Overall, the Facility was aging, but it was well-maintained despite the large number of foreign guests. Although Jozankei (Jozankei) itself is difficult to access, the shuttle bus was also full, and I couldn't make a Reservation, so I used local buses and taxis to get around. I struggled quite a bit with transportation, so I wish they would increase the number of services a little more.

Snowboarding
The powder at Sapporo Kokusai was great, and of course, Milione was also good. This time, the temperature of the Onsen was higher, which was perfect for warming up my body chilled from snowboarding. The friendly service at the front desk and the restaurant's response and selection were excellent. If I may be greedy, I would like the bus to Sapporo Kokusai to arrive 30 minutes before the gondola starts and to operate throughout January.

The creative seasonal kaiseki meal offers a high level of satisfaction.
The hotel and the multi-story parking lot show signs of aging, but this is unavoidable. Guests staying in a Western-style room with an onsen view bath can check in at the dedicated concierge desk on the first floor "Birch Terrace Bakery & Cafe~", but there was a long wait, possibly due to only one staff member being in charge. This needs to be addressed. Guests carry their own luggage to the room. Vending machines are conveniently located in the elevator hall on each floor. The autumn leaves visible from the room window were soothing. The room's onsen view bath was spacious and clean. The washbasin and dressing area were also spacious and nice, but it was already cold during the autumn foliage season. The large public bath on the third floor, used late at night, was comfortable as there were few users, and it was spacious and relaxing. Dinner was at Kuksa on the second floor. It was a semi-private room, and it was quiet and pleasant as there were few guests that day. The creative seasonal kaiseki meal was very filling, and the staff's service was excellent. Breakfast was in the same semi-private room as dinner. Satisfaction was high, just like dinner. The usual checkout time is 10 a.m., but guests in a Western-style room with an onsen view bath can check out at 11 a.m., allowing for a slightly more relaxed departure.

Highly recommended if you are staying in Jozankei.
The free shuttle service was incredibly helpful. The variety of dinner options was extremely rich, so if you're staying, adding dinner is a must. The salmon in the miso soup and the salmon sushi were delicious, truly living up to Hokkaido's reputation! It really enhanced the travel experience. The steak was also delicious, and I lost count of how many times I went back for more. You can enjoy the hotel itself with features like banquet halls and terraces with foot baths, so even if the weather is bad during your much-anticipated Jozankei sightseeing, you can still have a good time. I stayed in late October when most of the leaves had fallen, but if I have another chance, I'd like to stay during the peak season.

It was exactly as the reviews said, for better or worse.
The day I stayed, there were many group guests, and although I had seen reviews indicating that this is the kind of hotel it is, I thought, "as expected." There was a long line for check-in, the front desk was hard to reach by phone, and I got the impression that things weren't running smoothly due to frequent waiting. I chose a special room this time and opted for a meal in a private room, but the guidance to the room, explanations of each dish, and the way the food was served were, how should I say, sloppy. They kindly informed me that the rice was new from Hokkaido, so I asked which brand it was, but they didn't know. Disappointing. Drinks were ordered via a touch panel, but most were sold out. The selection was very poor. I reflected that if I was going to pay this amount, I could have chosen a higher-level inn. It was just as the reviews said, for better or worse. My honest impression was that it's not a hotel for individual travelers.

Very good
I used it for the first time. The staff were very kind. We were able to enjoy the pool a lot as it was practically private. The bath was also clean and we had a very pleasant time. The parking attendant recommended the Chitose roadside station, and it was very nice when we visited. I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity.
