    It was a great Accommodation, just as the Reviews said.

    We stayed at “Iroukan” during the Obon holidays. Since we were traveling with our dog, we chose Iroukan based on Reviews while searching for a pet-friendly Accommodation. The hospitality exceeded our expectations—the warmth and smiles from every staff member were truly wonderful. Of course, the food was just as highly rated: incredibly delicious and very generous in portion size. From the moment we arrived at the Accommodation’s parking lot, the staff’s kindness and attentiveness stood out—helping with our luggage, welcoming us at the entrance, and even greeting us with a charmingly retro Showa-era style that surprised us in the best way. Everyone clearly loves dogs, and our dog also seemed completely at ease throughout our three-day stay. The Onsen was also fantastic, with free-flowing natural hot spring water and both indoor and open-air baths to enjoy. It’s hard to sum up in just a few words how memorable the service was—and even the head chef’s unique personality gave us a good laugh. The building has an old-fashioned feel that reflects its history, but it’s exactly what you’d hope for in a classic Ryokan—an excellent place where you can truly relax. There is so much more I’d love to share, but if you’re going to Izu, please stay at Iroukan at least once. It’s absolutely worth experiencing. If we have another chance, this is definitely an Accommodation we would love to stay at again.

    A warm and welcoming atmosphere

    We stayed here after reading Reviews, as it is an Accommodation near Yumigahama where dogs can stay. Until now we had only used dog-only Accommodations, so this was our first time at a place where only some Rooms are dog-friendly. Even so, the staff were extremely friendly toward our dog. There were also seasonal part-time staff, but everyone was kind and the atmosphere of the Accommodation and workplace felt warm and relaxing. The meals, featuring mainly local ingredients, were excellent. We also requested S-grade turban shell on the day, and they contacted us several times about the size—something we truly appreciated. For in-room dining as well, each dish was brought freshly prepared every time, allowing us to fully enjoy one of the best parts of an Onsen inn’s in-room meals (they even told us our dog was welcome at the same table during dinner). There is a lovely walking path lined with cherry trees nearby, and it made us want to come back again during blossom season.

    It was just as described in the Review!

    We were very satisfied with both the meals and the Onsen! The meals were served in a dining hall, but we appreciated having partitions. When we left by car, the staff kindly came out to the street and waved us off—perhaps all together—which was truly moving.

    A pet-friendly accommodation where you can stay with your dog!

    I’d been searching for an Accommodation where dogs can stay too, with delicious meals, reasonable prices, and authentic Japanese cuisine (not a buffet). I’ve visited the Izu area several times, but “great food” often means “ridiculously expensive”! Of course, if it’s pricey it should be good—but there are also plenty of places where the price is outrageous and the food is… questionable. This time, though, the price was reasonable and the quality of the料理 absolutely makes me want to come back!!! I booked mainly for the food rather than the Onsen, and it was a great choice. The sauce was a little on the strong side, but everything was so tasty overall that it didn’t bother me at all. I usually don’t eat breakfast, but I decided to try it—and there were so many side dishes and they were all delicious. The rice in particular was excellent; before I knew it, I’d finished everything. I was so full that I skipped lunch and even ate dinner earlier than usual—completely satisfied and stuffed. The staff—everyone from the attendants to the manager—were extremely polite and attentive. Their thoughtful care truly surprised me. Because of work, my trip had to be just one night and two days—such a shame! After sightseeing around, we ended our trip by visiting Yaizu’s Nahe Shrine (known as a shrine for fishing), prayed there, bought an amulet, and headed home. The Accommodation was wonderful, so I’d like to visit again around the time you can see Kawazu cherry blossoms. Thank you very much for such truly delicious meals.

    Exceptional hospitality

    The staff were incredibly friendly and kind! The Onsen was amazing, but what impressed me most was the hospitality. And the kimbap was unbelievably delicious. On the second day they kindly served inari sushi, but I liked it so much I wanted to eat kimbap two days in a row!! The building is old, but it felt like visiting the countryside, and everything was thoroughly cleaned and spotless.

    A very kind and welcoming accommodation where you can stay with peace of mind

    We stayed for one night with my son and our dog, and we were very well taken care of. For dogs, they provided strollers in various sizes, and the amenities included a large crate and bowls. They also kindly told us it was fine to let our dog roam freely indoors, which made us feel at ease and enjoy our stay. When we arrived, my son wasn’t feeling well, so we came much earlier than the check-in time without doing any sightseeing. Even so, they gladly showed us to our Room and were very considerate. The bath was wonderful—the Onsen water kept flowing continuously and felt amazing. The indoor bath in the morning was especially relaxing with its pleasant woody scent. The food was also excellent: each person received a whole simmered golden eye snapper! The abalone was tender and outstanding as well. It was a bit disappointing that the air conditioning in the Room didn’t cool very well, and that the farm milk vending machine was out of order so we couldn’t buy any. However, we were happy with the wide variety at the juice bar after bathing. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us during our stay.

    The hospitality, meals, and Onsen were all wonderful!

    You remembered that my husband and I stayed here before with our beloved dog who has since passed away, and this time you asked our Papillon, “Are you XX?” using our late dog’s name. It made me so happy and truly warmed my heart. The meals we had been looking forward to were absolutely delicious. Personally, I especially loved the daikon mochi and the kamameshi. Above all, the staff member who served us was wonderful—our mischievous 1-year-old Papillon was spoken to kindly and looked so happy. Thank you very much. The Onsen was also incredibly relaxing. From the proprietress to everyone at this Ryokan, your hospitality is outstanding. We will visit again with our dog. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

    An inn that exceeds expectations in every way—Onsen, cuisine, and hospitality.

    I found this Accommodation by chance while looking for a place to stay with my dog during Golden Week—and it turned out to be the perfect choice! It’s rare to find an Accommodation where you can stay with your dog and be this satisfied with both the Room and the meals. For me, it’s the best place I’ve ever stayed. Thank you so much. From welcome to farewell, all staff were courteous and kind. It’s a charming, traditional Ryokan, and while some parts of the Facility show their age, everything was thoroughly cleaned down to every corner, and I never felt uncomfortable at all. The Onsen is free-flowing from the source, with a rich, silky texture that warmed me through in no time—truly wonderful water. The meals had great Reviews, so I arrived with high expectations—but they far exceeded them. Both dinner and breakfast were genuinely delicious! Dinner included three hot dishes cooked over flame—abalone, beef, and kamameshi—and the kinmedai poêlé (with beet sauce) was especially memorable: beautiful to look at as well as outstanding in flavor. Breakfast also offered an impressive variety. I usually end up having extra rice at a Ryokan breakfast, but there were simply too many dishes for that. Alongside dried horse mackerel, there was simmered kinmedai, the head chef’s special dashimaki tamago (rolled omelet), grilled tea soba noodles, and more—each item carefully prepared and truly delicious. Thinking “This chef is definitely the real deal,” I also bought the katsu maki sushi recommended at breakfast for lunch—and it exceeded expectations as well. The balance between the gently flavored tonkatsu and vinegared rice was perfect: light yet satisfying. Absolutely amazing! If I could make one request: since I usually sleep in a bed, I wasn’t fully used to sleeping on futon bedding on tatami mats. If possible, I would really appreciate a thicker mattress pad under the futon. As someone with lower back pain it felt a bit hard on my body, but soaking in the morning Onsen helped me recover well. I’ll definitely be back again—thank you in advance when I visit next time.

    The staff were wonderful.

    All the staff were wonderful. The food was delicious, and they were very welcoming to our dog as well. The temperature of the open-air bath was too hot to use when we arrived, but it was just right after dinner and after breakfast.

    Amazing skin-beautifying benefits! Your dog will be delighted too!

    The metasilicic acid level over 100, known for its skin-beautifying effects, really showed in how well my makeup went on the next morning! The kaiseki cuisine was also very delicious. If I had to say one thing, I wish the flavors had a bit more contrast. The portions were more than I could finish, and I still regret leaving some behind. Next time, it would be helpful if I could choose a meal Plan. My dog was also very relaxed thanks to the warm hospitality of the staff. This trip was truly enjoyable. Thank you very much.

    Pets and Relaxation

    We first visited during the COVID-19 pandemic to celebrate our dog’s 10th birthday, and everyone was so kind that we came back again. The staff and the Onsen are wonderful! Above all, the food is delicious! Minami-Izu is a bit far, but next time we’ll return to celebrate our dog’s 15th birthday.

    The meals are outstanding.

    While there are some downsides such as the age of the Facility, the location, and the view, we were satisfied with the free-flowing Onsen bath and the carefully prepared meals. This is an Accommodation where pets can stay, and there are still few Onsen Accommodations that offer traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine, so we hope you will keep up the good work.

    Even your beloved dog Ange will be amazed—soothing hot springs for beautifully smooth skin!

    We stayed with our dog, Anju, and thanks to the wonderful staff who showered her with so much affection, our whole family enjoyed the best holiday. The free-flowing Onsen from the source has an exceptional quality that feels instantly gentle on the skin. What surprised us most was that when we wiped Anju’s paw pads with a towel infused with the Onsen minerals, they became unbelievably smooth and soft! Of course it leaves human skin silky too, but we truly felt how high-quality this “beautifying bath” is—so moisturizing it even softened our dog’s paw pads. The meals were overflowing with seafood. The sake-steamed abalone in particular was tender, rich in flavor, and absolutely unforgettable. We also tried two recommended types of sake to pair with the dishes—both outstanding. With local delicacies and delicious drinks together, both our stomachs and hearts were completely satisfied. The staff’s service was perfectly timed—never intrusive, yet quick to assist whenever we needed something—which made our stay very comfortable. They were also kind to Anju, giving us peace of mind that even guests traveling with pets can relax without hesitation. This is an Accommodation that made us genuinely think: if we come to Minamiizu again, we want to stay here. We would love to return with Anju. Thank you very much!

    My spouse and I stay...

    My spouse and I stayed for one night with our small dog. We made a Reservation because in-room dining was especially appealing when traveling with a dog. As the Reviews said, the Facilities are old, but they are well maintained, so we felt at ease and could relax comfortably. Above all, we were truly impressed by the meals. It’s a small Accommodation, but the chef’s talent really shines through, and we were completely satisfied with both the quality and quantity. The young male staff member was also polite and pleasant, treated our dog kindly, and reminded us of what traditional Japanese hospitality used to feel like.\nWe would definitely like to visit again in summer. If I had one wish, it would be even better if guests were allowed to bring their own drinks for in-room dining!

    The Onsen is amazing, and the meals are even better.

    The Onsen is mildly alkaline (pH 7.4) with a pleasantly silky feel—better than expected in the best way. The cuisine is a creative kaiseki course; everything was unique, and the flavors were outstanding. This Accommodation is one we will definitely return to.

    First Onsen in Minami-Izu

    The Accommodation’s Facility is old, but the hospitality is excellent. The meals offered great value for money in both quantity and quality. The steamed dancing abalone is a classic, and there were also three dishes cooked over a flame (kamameshi rice, abalone, and beef). The local sake tasting set was also great. I heard that Minami-Izu still has relatively few inbound visitors. I may have chosen the wrong season. Next time, I’ll come in March during the rapeseed flower and cherry blossom season.

    Delicious meals that will leave you fully satisfied.

    We stayed with our family and our dog during the summer vacation. The staff at the ryokan provided very polite and kind hospitality, for which we are truly grateful. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the room, allowing us to relax and enjoy a variety of delicious dishes with excitement and joy. It exceeded our expectations, and we were extremely satisfied.     Exploring Izu Onsen.

    We visited this Onsen accommodation during our tour of pet-friendly accommodations in Izu. Although the building is old, it seemed to be well-cleaned. However, the outdoor bath on the left side had a very handmade feel, which was a bit disappointing when seen in daylight. The room could be improved with more comfortable chairs, and while the vanity table is rare nowadays, it felt a bit unsettling. The quality of the hot spring was average, and the meals were reasonably tasty.

    Great value for money with delicious cuisine.

    The building and facilities do show their age, but the room was clean and well-maintained. If I had to mention something, the sound of the air conditioner running at night was slightly noticeable. The onsen is a natural hot spring with free-flowing water, and soaking in the hot bath warmed me to my core. I appreciated the complimentary water and juice after bathing, and it was a delightful bonus that bottled milk from Daiki Dairy was available for purchase. What left the biggest impression on me was definitely the food! Both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, all incredibly delicious. Since I came to Izu hoping to enjoy fresh seafood, I was thrilled that both meals featured plenty of fish dishes. I also found it heartwarming when ducks being raised there came into the garden in front of my room. The staff provided warm and attentive service, making this accommodation truly wonderful. I would love to stay here again when visiting Shimogamo Onsen!

    What a waste!

    I stayed with my beloved dog. The service, bath, and meals were perfect, even exceeding the reviews. However, one thing that bothered me was the noise from the ventilation fan in the room with a private bath at night while sleeping. I understand it couldn't be turned off, but I feel a private bath might not be necessary. It was delightful to experience such excellent service after a long time. Thank you very much!

    Everything was perfect.

    Traveled with our beloved dog. The food was incredibly delicious and plentiful, leaving us completely satisfied. The onsen was amazing. The staff were dog lovers and their service was impeccable. Although it's in South Izu and might feel far, the journey from Kobe didn't seem long at all—it felt like we arrived in no time. Izu is truly a wonderful place. For those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, this is a must-visit destination. Even with a two-night, three-day stay, it felt like there wasn't enough time. Next time, we plan to visit during a season when Mount Fuji can be seen perfectly. Ishirokan has officially become our go-to accommodation!

    It was a truly wonderful accommodation!

    We stayed for one night on a family trip with our dog. We had certain expectations based on the good reviews, and everything—meals, the onsen, and hospitality—exceeded them! In particular, the young male staff member in charge of our room had excellent communication skills with dogs. Even our cautious dog quickly warmed up to him. On our way home, we visited a local confectionery shop recommended by the staff, and as suggested, it was absolutely delicious. All the accommodation staff were very kind and warm-hearted.     A highly satisfying accommodation for guests with their beloved dogs.

    I searched for "Accommodation where you can stay with your dog" on this site, looked for areas I could visit, and found "Irozakan." This time, I stayed here for the first time with my dog, and the service from the staff and attendants was absolutely wonderful. The plan included dinner and breakfast served in the room. The dinner had an incredible variety of dishes, all of which were delicious. I managed to finish everything, but there was a lot of food, so I recommend arriving hungry! Breakfast also offered a wide selection of delicious dishes. The dried fish served was so tasty that I asked an attendant about buying some as souvenirs. They kindly introduced me to a local shop where residents go to buy dried fish, and I stopped by on my way home to purchase some. For our room reservation, we chose a plan that allowed us to stay with our dog and included a private bath in the room. They even provided a mini bathtub for dogs so my pet could enjoy the onsen too! My dog has sensitive skin but experienced improved fur texture after bathing in the onsen; we enjoyed it both at night and in the morning. The large communal bath featured cloudy water with rich benefits that felt effective—I soaked multiple times during my stay. Since it was from Sunday to Monday when fewer guests were staying, it felt very spacious and luxurious. Above all else, their hospitality was outstanding—I definitely plan to return. While traveling before holidays might be challenging due to traffic congestion, weekday travel from Tokyo to "Irozakan" is more manageable than expected—highly recommended!

    Family Trip with Your Dog

    We stayed with my mother, brother, and our dog. Although we arrived in the evening due to my husband’s work on Saturday morning, we were warmly welcomed at the parking lot and had our luggage carried for us. The room was spacious and clean, and my mother and brother’s room was a large two-room space that was also very clean. The bath featured natural Onsen water that left our skin smooth and refreshed. There were three types of salt scrubs available, allowing us to enjoy lovely scents while enhancing the smoothness of our skin even more. We also used the outdoor bath for dogs—it was adorable to bathe while ducks swam nearby! Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, plentiful, and highly satisfying. The staff at the Ryokan were all kind-hearted people who provided exceptional hospitality. After breakfast when we returned to our room, we discovered that our dog had escaped from its cage and scratched up one of the sliding doors—this shocked us greatly! However, despite causing such trouble, they kindly reassured us by saying they would repair it somehow and invited us to visit again in the future. We are truly grateful for their understanding response. They even saw us off at the parking lot upon departure—it was such a wonderful Ryokan experience! We will definitely return with family again someday. Thank you so much for everything!
