Experience all the charm of a Japanese Ryokan!

Unusually for our family trips, we had dinner served in our Room and slept on futons laid out in a tatami-style Japanese Room, which reminded me again that Japan’s Ryokan culture is something to be proud of worldwide. Dinner was a course focused on carefully selected ingredients with modest portions, but it was more than enough for us—we were truly moved by the beautiful, delicious dishes. The deep-sea blackthroat seaperch (nodoguro) fried and topped with thickened sauce was especially outstanding. Breakfast was also a feast, charmingly arranged like a Shokado bento using local ingredients. At night, we lay down on the neatly made futons chatting, and before we knew it we had fallen asleep—when we realized it, it was morning. Does happiness get any better than this? The woman who looked after us—was she the proprietress or an attendant?—was wonderful. From explaining each dish and laying out the futons to helping us plan our itinerary and guiding us to the free Yasugi-bushi stage show (it was amazing—a must-see), explaining that the Onsen is free-flowing from the source, what the Onsen symbol means, and even soothing our baby—she felt like both a concierge and a dependable, knowledgeable mom. The bath was of course at just the right temperature and wonderfully open-air—we were completely satisfied. And despite all this, it was very reasonably priced. We would love to come again.

We had a very satisfying stay.

I stayed for one night with dinner and breakfast included. The meals used local ingredients and were lightly seasoned, letting the natural flavors shine—everything was delicious. The Onsen was fed directly from the source, and my skin still felt smooth the next day. Despite the homey atmosphere, I could really feel their hospitality. I also appreciated that they served our meal quickly so we could go see the fireflies.

    Hot Spring for Beautiful Skin

The Onsen water truly felt like a skin-beautifying bath. After soaking, my skin was so soft and supple that I didn’t need any lotion. I was very satisfied with this Accommodation offering free-flowing natural hot spring water.

    The Onsen was excellent.

The onsen was excellent, leaving my skin smooth and radiant as if I had visited a spa. The open-air bath with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source made my body warm and my mind refreshed, providing a very pleasant experience. Upon arrival, it was raining, but the staff immediately offered an umbrella and helped unload our luggage from the car. Everyone was very kind and attentive in their responses. One slightly disappointing aspect was that the room staff performed tasks such as explaining the room, serving meals, and laying out futons while standing without kneeling in the tatami room. It was also surprising to have meals served over our heads for the first time in my life. Although their responses were polite, this part felt unfortunate. However, everyone communicated well with us, making it a pleasant departure from the accommodation in the end.

    Satisfied!

Although we checked in a bit late, a staff member was at the entrance to guide us promptly. Regarding meals, we made a special request due to health reasons, and they kindly accommodated us, which was very helpful. The food was also delicious. The building is a historic accommodation, so there were some minor inconveniences, but all the staff members were friendly and welcoming with smiles, allowing us to relax during our stay. The flowing onsen left our skin feeling smooth. The well-maintained courtyard was beautiful with large and impressive koi swimming around—and upon closer look, even turtles! Thank you very much!

    The natural flow Ons...

The natural flow Onsen is excellent. The private bath is worth the additional fee. The room retains some older features like window frames but has been mostly renovated. However, the cleanliness of the room's toilet was insufficient, which was very disappointing (I had to clean it myself using disinfectant alcohol). I hope for improvement in this area.

    The food is satisfyi...

The food is satisfying. The Room is spacious, but there is no view from the window. You can't see any outside scenery (not even the backyard or the wall across). This was unexpected and disappointing!

    Meals

I think the portion size of the dinner is a bit too much. Also, most of the breakfast dishes were cold, and I would especially like the grilled fish to be served warm.

    The Onsen was wonder...

The Onsen was wonderful and I was able to relax. The meals were also very delicious. After checking out, my car was parked far from the Ryokan parking lot in the rain. I had to search for it, and I wish they had at least informed me where the car was. The Onsen and meals were excellent, so it was unfortunate that this was my last impression.

    The service is excellent.

The staff at the Ryokan are all very kind, warm, and enthusiastic. Even if there is a language barrier, they still provide detailed explanations and introductions. The dinner and breakfast are also very sumptuous, full of Japanese style.

    Good Stays

The meals and the Room were both very good. The tempura was crispy. It was fun to try a little bit of everything, including specialties like clams, crab, and nodoguro. There is an open-air bath. It's not very large, but it's not crowded, so it's relaxing. The building felt a bit old, but the plumbing and interior were new, so it was comfortable. Thank you for taking care of us.

    I was able to relax.

Is the source of Tamatsukuri Onsen colorless and transparent? The bath water is a clear and pure Onsen without any peculiarities. Both dinner and breakfast were satisfactory in content and quantity. There were so many dishes that it was a bit of a struggle to eat them all. Haha. Unfortunately, the building seemed to be an old one, and the entire structure was aged. The Room windows were all fixed, so we couldn't see the outside scenery at all.

    Best value for money

Chose Tamatsukuri Onsen with friends, attracted by the in-room dining. We opted for the upgraded Shimane gourmet plan, and it was a great choice! The quality was impeccable, the seasoning was excellent, and even we, with our big appetites, fell asleep as if we had fainted after the meal, haha. The building may be old, but the exceptional hospitality and wonderful meals more than made up for it. The only thing was the style of taking bath towels to the bath... It would be perfect if new towels were available in the changing room each time.

    Onsen is the best!

I stayed at the property in Matsue 33 years ago for business and visited for an evening onsen, which I really liked, so I stayed again this time. The onsen was just as good as it was 33 years ago. The food was also very delicious. I would like to come again.

    Meals are・・・・・・・

The meals were... To be honest, I think it would have been much better to go to a nearby izakaya. Despite being by the sea, the sashimi was not fresh, and although they used good beef, they boiled it in soy milk. They also served hard, cold rice balls with lukewarm broth. None of the dishes were delicious. Perhaps it's because the accommodation fee is cheap, but instead of making strange culinary experiments, wouldn't it be enough to serve simple dishes that make the most of the good ingredients available nearby?
