I will definitely stay here again.

My wife was extremely satisfied—this Accommodation was truly relaxing. We definitely want to stay again. Because: 1) The meals were exceptionally delicious. In addition to the classic salt-grilled ayu, we also had ayu sashimi (my first time) and uruka (a salted delicacy made from ayu innards), which were outstanding—I ended up ordering some local sake without thinking twice. 2) The Onsen was spacious and relaxing, with gentle water that felt kind to the skin, as if my fatigue was melting away. 3) The quiet Room with a view of the Nakagawa River was perfect for unwinding. I fell asleep early after enjoying the food and drinks, so I missed my plan to soak in the Onsen again at night—but I woke up early and fully enjoyed a morning bath instead.

    The meals are delicious.

I travel out many times throughout the year. I was truly won over by how delicious the food was here. The rice was cooked perfectly! Ayu sashimi (my first time), salt-grilled ayu (the seasoning, grilling, and timing of service), and even the soup—everything was flawless. From now on, your salt-grilled ayu will likely be my benchmark for taste. This may sound presumptuous, but I believe it’s simple dishes that really show a chef’s skill. The yukata in the Room were crisp and nicely starched, so even someone like me who doesn’t usually like yukata could wear it comfortably. I also appreciated the detox water after bathing.

It was a quiet, relaxing accommodation for a small group.

Every meal was delicious. Perhaps because of the season, there were many sweetfish dishes, which made me very happy as a sweetfish lover! Also, since we chose the Plan with wild boar and Wagyu beef, we were able to enjoy the meat as well. They also had a selection of local sake, which was great. After dinner, we enjoyed roasted marshmallows by the irori hearth and some fruit liqueur. There was both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and we enjoyed both. The open-air bath faces the river, and in the morning we soaked while watching dragonflies through the netting. It had a wonderful atmosphere. I’d love to visit again.

    I truly enjoyed the ...

I truly enjoyed the rare culinary experience—game meat, river fish, a variety of homemade dishes, herbal liqueurs, and more—things you simply can’t taste at home. The unpretentious, rustic atmosphere was also wonderful. I even bought some of the incredibly delicious rice as a souvenir, and I’m still savoring the memories after returning home.

A thoughtfully attentive Accommodation with just the right level of care

The Accommodation was impeccably clean, the food was delicious in small portions, and the view from the second-floor Room made it a wonderfully relaxing stay. However, what left the best impression was the perfectly balanced attentiveness and help from all the staff. Their friendly service combined a casual atmosphere with good manners, and thanks to them we were able to relax throughout our stay. I wholeheartedly recommend this Accommodation to anyone as a place I would definitely like to visit again.

    From arrival to depa...

From arrival to departure, this Ryokan exceeded our expectations in every way—its facilities, hospitality, Onsen, meals, and the view from the window. We would love to return as repeat guests.

    This quiet riverside...

This quiet riverside Accommodation was very relaxing; our Japanese-style Room had a sofa, and we could occasionally hear the song of bush warblers. Both the indoor bath and the open-air bath were pleasant, with excellent hot water. The meals made great use of local ingredients and were delicious. We would like to stay again when the season changes.

    Healing Accommodation

Isami-kan is an accommodation that has been relocated from an old traditional house. While the interior of the building is old, it is well-cleaned and provides a comfortable stay. The staff's warm hospitality was very touching and healing. When I mistakenly booked a plan without breakfast, they quickly accommodated my request, allowing me to enjoy a delicious breakfast. Although dinner was not very impressive, the breakfast was excellent. It’s an accommodation I would like to visit again.

    The staff are friendly, but

Being a Saturday, the price was close to 50,000 yen, but I felt the cost performance was quite poor (based on my personal experience). I chose the upgraded meal course, but it felt underwhelming compared to the price. The photos on IKYU seemed different from reality. At check-in, when they realized one person in our group was a minor, they said they would replace the pre-dinner drink with juice. However, plum wine was served as usual and replacing it took a very long time. The sink in the Room barely produced hot water (it came out very slowly and took a long time to heat up). Someone who came to check mentioned it might be due to winter conditions—but isn’t hot water especially necessary during winter? The indoor bath had a chlorine smell—does this Onsen naturally have such an odor? The open-air bath did not have this chlorine smell. Both the indoor and open-air baths were much smaller than what I expected based on the photos; this made me realize how important it is to carefully review posted images. Most of the staff members were pleasant and friendly.

The Onsen I've always wanted to visit

This is an Onsen I have wanted to visit for a long time. It was hard to align my family's schedules, but we finally made it. The simple yet high-quality breakfast was also satisfying. We will visit again.

We enjoyed ayu fish as well.

Both dinner and breakfast were truly delicious. We had chosen the course with grilled meat on a ceramic plate, so honestly, we didn’t have high expectations for fish. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find ayu sashimi and salt-grilled ayu on the menu. Both dishes were exceptionally tasty, making us feel as though ayu was the main highlight of the meal. Of course, the ceramic plate-grilled meat was also excellent, but being able to enjoy seasonal delicacies unique to this summer season made it an incredibly satisfying experience.

    I had a relaxing stay!

It was my first time visiting Bato Onsen. The weather was great, and the view from the room and the Onsen was beautiful! My husband loved the high ceilings, which gave a sense of openness. The Onsen had a simple indoor and outdoor design, and since there were few guests, we could relax and soak at our own pace. The water quality was excellent and very soothing. The meals had a nostalgic simplicity in flavor, with just the right portions to leave us satisfied! It was my first time trying ayu sashimi; it was light and delicious. I especially enjoyed the bamboo shoots topped with shrimp paste and salted ayu! The staff maintained an appropriate distance, allowing us to enjoy a comfortable stay.

    The accommodation by...

The accommodation by the river offers rooms with a scenic view of nature, providing a relaxing atmosphere. Meals were prepared with fresh ingredients and were delicious. During dinner, it felt a bit hectic due to the number of guests, and the serving order was occasionally mixed up. However, enjoyable services like roasting marshmallows by the hearth and tasting herbal liquor added thoughtful touches to the experience.

    A Relaxing Accommodation

Warm hospitality, delicious cuisine, and a relaxing accommodation. The bath is not large but usually private, so it’s not an issue, and the onsen is excellent.

    I am a repeat customer!

This is my second stay. "It is a very comfortable Stays." It is a very relaxing space with a traditional hearth. The food is also very delicious, focusing on local ingredients, and there is also a service of medicinal liquor, which is very satisfying. Of course, the Onsen is also excellent. Although it is old, the Property is kept clean, and all the staff are kind. It is definitely one of the Stays I would repeat.

    Thank you very much.

I chose this place seeking a quiet hot spring without young people or families. The bath was mostly private, and even when I met other guests, I could spend my time quietly and calmly. There were face towels in the changing room, so it was nice to be able to go to the bath without carrying anything. I wasn't sure if the difference in operating hours between the open-air bath and the indoor bath was necessary. I thought it might be fine if they were the same. The food was also delicious. The marshmallows by the hearth and the rice balls for a late-night snack were tasty. If I were to make a request, since I was full from dinner, I think non-alcoholic guests would appreciate a coffee or soft drink service more than a late-night snack service. I was a bit down because there were bugs in the room, but I think the place is generally kept clean despite being old. I look forward to visiting again if I have the chance. Thank you very much.

    I was satisfied.

I chose this place because of its high reviews and booked at the last minute, so only the second floor was available. I hesitated because we have an elderly person with leg issues, but since there was an elevator, we decided to visit Batou Onsen for the first time. The bath was small but non-slippery, clean, and we enjoyed it in a private setting. The innkeeper's thoughtfulness was felt everywhere, and although the building shows its age, there was no mustiness or humidity, making it comfortable. Next time, I would like to see the wood stove lit. The meals were delicious, and there was a guide on how to debone the grilled sweetfish, which allowed me to succeed for the first time and eat it neatly. It was my first time trying sturgeon sashimi, and it was white, non-fishy, and delicious. The boar meat sausage at breakfast was exquisite, and I want to have it again. The teppanyaki of wagyu, boar, and pork at dinner was fatty but not heavy, allowing me to sleep well without any stomach discomfort. I will save the horse meat for next time. The ginger-flavored porridge at breakfast was delicious. The overnight-dried sweetfish is usually hard and not tasty when served grilled, but since I could grill it myself, it was warm, soft, and perfect. Thank you to all the staff for their cheerful and courteous service. I bought the shampoo and conditioner used in the bath because they were good, but I also wanted the cleansing product. Unfortunately, I couldn't identify the manufacturer due to my presbyopia. The view from the room's window was superb. I never expected to see the Naka River so closely, as I usually just pass by it in a car.
