    We had a wonderful s...

    We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Yakushima. The standout was the exceptional service, both before arrival and during our stay. The team went above and beyond to help arrange airport transfers, a rental car, restaurant reservations, and a sea turtle tour, making everything seamless and stress-free. The rooms in the Namioto Biyori annex are fantastic, with breathtaking ocean views and a peaceful atmosphere. Waking up overlooking the sea was a highlight of our visit. The only drawback is that dinner options can be limited without advance reservations, which reduces flexibility for more spontaneous plans. However, the hotel staff were extremely helpful in securing bookings whenever possible. Overall, a fantastic hotel with outstanding hospitality, beautiful accommodations, and an unforgettable Yakushima experience. We would happily stay again.

    Generally satisfied

    The food was delicious, and the lobby café was nice. The bath and sauna were also great. However, the front desk service was not very good. Even though the route to the lobby isn’t very straightforward, there was no greeting, and despite it being check-in time, there were too few staff at the front desk. For a service business, it felt a bit cold. It would be fine for a Business Hotel, but arriving at the Hotel was disappointing. Still, everything else was good, so I’d rate it 4.

    First night in Yakushima

    My friend and I stayed for one night and two days. We arrived at Yakushima Airport at 18:25 and headed to the Hotel, and since the Shuttle Service for the sea turtle nesting observation tour was scheduled to arrive at 19:30, we were wondering what to do about dinner. They kindly prepared dinner as an easy-to-eat bento-style meal, and even offered to bring anything we couldn’t finish up to our Room—such a flexible and thoughtful response, which we truly appreciated. Also, both the view from the restaurant and from our Room were a beautiful ocean view—so stunning that we could have watched it forever if we’d had more time. It was my first time visiting Yakushima, but I was very satisfied to stay at such a wonderful Accommodation full of kindness from the very first night. I’d love to come again, and next time I’d like to stay longer and take it easy.

    The facilities, meals, and hiking support were excellent. However, the service at the end was very disappointing.

    The Room was very modern and spotless, with a wonderful view, and we were extremely satisfied with our stay. The view from the bath was also excellent, and the spacious balcony was very comfortable, allowing us to relax and truly enjoy our time on Yakushima. Breakfast was delicious, especially with a wide variety of seafood, making it highly satisfying. The rental items needed for hiking Jomon Sugi—such as jackets, shoes, and backpacks—were also well stocked, which made it reassuring and comfortable even when traveling almost empty-handed. The staff were generally kind as well, so we felt pleasant throughout most of our stay. However, we were very disappointed with the service at checkout. When I called to ask if someone could help carry our luggage from the Room to the front desk, I received a response along the lines of “Is it not an amount you can carry by hand?” which made me feel very uncomfortable. Since other hotels often handle this request pleasantly, it felt even more disappointing. In addition, when we were about to get into the elevator to go to the lobby and the doors were about to close, a staff member came in carrying luggage and rode together with us after asking “May I ride with you?” As a Hotel providing guest services, I would have appreciated more consideration. We also asked if our luggage could be placed near the entrance so we could load it into our car later, but we were told “We can’t do that,” and it was left near the lobby in a way that felt somewhat careless. It left us feeling upset at the very end of our stay and significantly diminished what had otherwise been an excellent experience. The Room quality, views, meals, and hiking support were truly outstanding—so it is especially disappointing that the customer service at checkout fell short. If the final interaction had been better, this would have been a Hotel we would gladly want to visit again.

    Sea Turtle Watching ...

    Sea Turtle Watching For trekking in Shiratani Unsuikyo Gorge, and because Shuttle Service and mountain guide pick-up/drop-off were available, I stayed for two nights as I was interested in an ocean-side Room. The view was decent, and the front desk staff were very kind. I thought it would be a perfect stay, but on the last day, while we were waiting in line at the breakfast venue, an overseas man cut ahead of more than ten people and went inside. It left me feeling very upset; everyone looked stunned, and it turned into the worst breakfast experience. Also, due to a Shuttle Service mistake, I barely made my flight. Aside from those issues, it would be a perfect score—and I would like to use this Hotel again.

    An Accommodation to Elevate Your Yakushima Trip

    We stayed here for the purpose of hiking Jomon Sugi. With so many Accommodations to choose from, we weren’t sure at first, but we’re really glad we chose this one. Even if you don’t bring your own hiking gear, the rental selection is excellent and can cover almost everything. On the morning of your hike, breakfast can be changed to a boxed meal, and they will also prepare lunch if you request it. They also work with partner guide companies, so arrangements can be made smoothly. We stayed in the Room “Namioto Biyori,” and the location was outstanding—so comfortable that we wanted to stay in the Room all day. Above all, dinner was amazing. Even after being tired from the hike, every dish was irresistible, and we were completely satisfied. We would definitely like to stay again next time.

    A convenient place with great views.

    It’s very convenient, as it’s just a 5-minute walk from the port. The view from the Hotel was wonderful, and I was very satisfied. I had to request a change to my stay due to some circumstances, and the staff were extremely helpful. Thank you very much.

    A Hotel with Facilities and Relaxation

    This was my first time staying here, and the driver who was waiting for me right after I arrived at the airport was wonderful. On the roughly 20-minute ride to the Hotel, I received helpful guidance and great money-saving tips, which was really nice. The Hotel’s meals, Facility, and the staff’s warm hospitality were all excellent, and everything I wanted was provided. I had a very comfortable stay. When I visit Yakushima again, this is definitely a Hotel I’d like to return to. Thank you very much.

    Great view

    In the off-season of January, the view from the Room was fantastic, and the meals were delicious. Due to a sudden flight cancellation, it turned into a 3-night stay, but it became a trip where we felt the warm support of the staff. We requested a guide for Shiratani Unsuikyo and were introduced to a kind and attentive guide. Next time, we’d love to visit Jomon Sugi in summer!

    Stayed at the annex!

    Stayed at the annex! The location from the Room was excellent, and I especially loved the ocean view from the bath! The Room was very clean, and the staff were very kind! The only downside was that the shower pressure was a bit weak.

    Accommodation I Want to Visit Again

    Considering the Accommodation Fee, it was excellent with no complaints, except for one issue. I wanted to have coffee and tried using the provided Nespresso machine... Just to be safe, I ran plain "hot water" through it first, but what came out was a thin brownish murky "water." To make matters worse, there were coffee grounds at the bottom of the cup! Thinking this wouldn't do, I tried again—same result—and even more coffee grounds than before! The third time... still the same!!! I gave up drinking it!!!!!! Other than this, everything else was excellent, which is unfortunate. If that's the case, they could have just provided instant coffee from the start... There were tea bags for tea (though I didn't use them).

    I want to visit again.

    Everyone was kind, and I had a comfortable time. I stayed in a sea-facing Room in the annex. The Plan included breakfast and dinner, both of which were luxurious meals made with plenty of delicious ingredients from Kagoshima, including Yakushima.

    I want to repeat.

    The annex (Namioto Biyori) was excellent. The only downsides were that it does not have an Onsen and that cotton swabs and cotton pads were packaged together in the amenities, which led to wasting the cotton pads as I did not use them. The service was great, and I had a pleasant stay. It’s a Hotel I would like to visit again.

    Hotel with Stunning Views and Excellent Dining

    I stayed at the Hotel at the end of Golden Week. I enjoyed a beautifully designed Room with a stunning ocean view, just as shown in the photos. The hospitality of the Hotel's front desk staff was excellent, and their proactive assistance was greatly appreciated. If I were to point out one area for improvement, it would be having to bring Room towels to the public bath. However, considering this is an eco-friendly island, it might not bother some guests. The meals were both visually appealing and delicious. You can also order breakfast and lunch bento boxes for the Jomon Cedar course and purchase bus tickets directly from the Hotel. I would love to visit this Hotel again!

    Please follow infection prevention measures.

    Thank you for the hospitality. The meals were delicious, and the staff were well-trained and pleasant. The Room was clean, had a great view, and we were able to relax. However, one thing that was unacceptable was that the duvet cover was not fully enclosed; it was just a sheet placed under the duvet. During sleep, it inevitably shifted, causing parts of the duvet without a cover to touch our faces. My husband even ended up sleeping directly on top of the sheet covering the duvet. The duvets are not washed after every use, are they? If someone who stayed before us had an illness, it could be transmitted this way (though we believe we do not carry any illnesses that could affect future guests). In these times, I hope infection control measures can be improved further. If this issue is addressed, I would definitely consider becoming a repeat guest.

    It was comfortable.

    Overall, it was clean and comfortable. The room was a Japanese-style room and had ordinary cleanliness. Perhaps I should have tried a bit harder to upgrade the room rank... The bath was spacious and clean, the meals at the restaurant were delicious, and breakfast was buffet style with both quantity and quality being very satisfying. Dinner was served as a course meal and it was delicious. If I visit Yakushima again, I would like to stay at this hotel. However, on the day we went, there were strong winds which made climbing the slope in front of the hotel tough. Other than that, it was a very satisfying property.

    Dinner, amazing!

    We stayed for two nights from February 6th. The dinner was very delicious! It was plentiful and filled with happiness. Thank you to the staff for your kind attention and assistance, especially concerning the flight in bad weather.

    In the bath, school trip students...

    The room was excellent after the renovation. The bath and water temperature were good, and I was enjoying a pleasant bath, but then 6-7 students on a school trip started bathing, causing a big commotion and noise! It ruined the experience and left me feeling terrible. I was bathing with an inbound high school student, and she also said it was the worst manners. As a Japanese person, I was teaching her Japanese manners, including those for communal baths! Yet, I was embarrassed that the same Japanese high school students were violating manners. I also pointed it out to the school teacher, but I wished the hotel had made considerations such as separating the bathing times for general guests. All the general bathers present were frowning and watching the high school girls. Since the last stay, the hotel had improved even more after the renovation, so this incident was very disappointing. Other than that, everything was great.

    First Landing on Yakushima

    I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. The front desk staff and the shop staff were all kind and provided courteous service. The Room was clean. The starry sky seen from the Room was very beautiful, and I could also see the sunrise. The only disappointment was the yukata. I wish I could have chosen between a yukata and pajamas. Overall, the people on the island left a kind impression.
