    The joy of traveling with your beloved dog

    At most Hotels or Ryokans, there is little interaction with guests, but at this Hotel everyone is friendly, and greetings and conversations come naturally. It’s all thanks to the dogs. We had a wonderful time.

    Dog Paradise

    This was my fourth stay. This place is exceptionally well-equipped for dogs, and everything is comfortable. When it comes to Facilities where you can stay with your dog, owners often have to compromise on something, but here both the meals and the baths were completely satisfying. The Hotel staff are kind, and it’s simply a very welcoming place. We stayed during the Obon holiday period, but it was wonderfully cool, and our dog—who had been worn out by the summer heat of over 35°C every day—was full of energy again. It’s truly an ideal summer retreat.

    The changing area gets hot.

    There is no air conditioner in the changing room, so it gets hot. There is also no table or stand for dog care, which makes it difficult to dry them. We would also like to see more menu options for meals.

    Traveling with Your Dog Sisters

    Every year around this time, we travel with our sister dogs. Since we’re coming from the Kanto and Kansai regions, we chose this place as a convenient midway point. This time, we made Reservations for three Rooms. We’ve stayed at Wanwan Paradise in the Kinki area before. To be honest, we didn’t have high expectations for dinner and breakfast, but both were very satisfying. We enjoyed spending time in nature, and our dogs had plenty of fun running around in the spacious dog run—they seemed really happy too. The walking path was a little scary when thinking about bears, though... With so few Accommodations where you can stay with dogs, we were truly satisfied. The other guests were friendly as well, so we could relax without feeling self-conscious. We’d love to come back if we have the chance. Thank you very much for everything—it became a wonderful memory for us.

    Thank you very much.

    The Facility is a bit old, but it was very clean and made for a comfortable stay. Above all, the staff were kind, which we really appreciated. We were also very satisfied with the meals—there was more than we could finish. Our pet was very happy as well. Thank you very much. On the way there, due to a landslide, our navigation system guided us from a different direction. However, there is an alternate route for passenger cars, so future guests can travel there with peace of mind.

    If it’s Takayama, then.

    This was our first stay. In Takayama, it’s dog-friendly, the meals were delicious, and for this price it was more than satisfactory. You do need to go outside to reach the private open-air bath, but overall everything was great. We would love to stay again if we have the chance.

    Your First Wanpara Experience

    We stayed here during Golden Week. On the day of our stay it was raining, so we were disappointed that we couldn’t use the outdoor dog run we had been looking forward to, but the next day was cloudy and we were able to play in the dog run until just before check-out. The Hotel building is old, but it was thoroughly cleaned with no odors and felt very clean. The meals were also very delicious and we were satisfied. Everything being truly dog-first was wonderful. One thing I’d like improved: perhaps because of the rain, the small-dog dog run had a lot of dead branches and leaves, and every time our dog ran they would stick into their paws and hurt them—so we kept removing branches from their paws over and over again… We would appreciate it if the dead branches and leaves could be cleared away as well. This is a Hotel we would definitely like to use again.

    A Long-Awaited Journey

    The Hotel, meals, and bath were all excellent. If it were a bit closer, I would want to visit as many times as possible. I hope to use it again someday if I get the chance.

    Family Trip

    We stayed in a cottage with a terrace. This was our first accommodation experience with our dog, and the staff prioritized our dog's needs, providing excellent service. There is "Hirayu no Mori Onsen" nearby, and it also offers great access to Kamikochi, making it highly recommended.

    It was an enjoyable trip.

    The room exceeded our expectations! It was clean and well-maintained, with no odors often associated with pet-friendly accommodations, making it very comfortable. The meals and the staff's service were absolutely wonderful. We will definitely return. If I may make one suggestion, it would be great if the path from the main building to the onsen area could be made a bit easier to walk on. While the distance is not significant, walking after sunset felt a bit uneven.

    The reservation for ...

    The reservation for private baths and the information about the number of people in the large public bath were clear and helpful. Although it was a large public bath, I could relax and enjoy it. The meals were delicious, but during dinner, the service to the back seats was careless, which was disappointing. Additionally, I dropped my luggage at the entrance (outside at the top of the stairs), and unfortunately, there seemed to be dog urine there, which caused an unpleasant smell on my belongings.

    The meals were exceptionally delicious.

    This was my first stay at this accommodation. The facility is a bit old, and the room had a slight odor, but the onsen was excellent—it warmed my body and relieved my fatigue. The Japanese dinner exceeded expectations, featuring dishes made with Hida beef that were all incredibly delicious. For our dog’s dinner, we chose a dish with beef, which seemed very tasty as it was finished in no time. Although it’s a bit far from home and driving on mountain roads can be challenging, I think this is an accommodation worth considering for another visit.

    Dogs can stay comfortably too.

    There are multiple private family baths, each with a different atmosphere, ensuring high satisfaction. The accommodation itself has the ambiance of a luxury ryokan from the bubble era. Although it is old, it is well-maintained and offers high satisfaction. With facilities like a dog run and walking paths, it provides an environment where dogs can also enjoy themselves.

    A dog-friendly Hotel.

    It was our first trip with our dog, and everything needed for the dog was prepared in advance, making it very comfortable. Everyone else also had their dogs, so we could relax without any worries. At the dog run, for the first time, our dog didn’t want to leave and threw a tantrum. The dog run is separated for small and large dogs, so it’s safe. The Facility is slightly old but still a very good Hotel.

    Thank you for your hospitality once again! This is a great Hotel for guests with dogs. The Onsen and meals were very satisfying. This was our first time staying during the summer, and it was pleasantly cool and enjoyable.

    You can enjoy playin...

    You can enjoy playing in the river, which was one of the main reasons I wanted to visit. The water was clean and absolutely wonderful. With 10 baths available, I could enjoy a private and relaxing soak. The meals were also delicious. I stayed for two nights, but next time, I’d love to stay longer for an even more leisurely experience.

    Just one...

    Spacious Japanese-Western style room, very clean and well-maintained, delicious Hida beef course meal, and a lovely open-air bath! However, one issue. During breakfast time, it was quite crowded. We followed the instructions to write our name at the top of the list and waited in the pet salon as directed. However, we were not called for a long time. When we checked back, several groups who arrived after us had already been seated. Since we were a group of four (most others were groups of two or three), we thought perhaps there wasn’t enough space for us. But after waiting nearly 40 minutes, we finally asked a staff member and were immediately seated. It’s unclear why our name at the top was skipped... If there was any reason for this, it would have been nice to be informed with just a word or two. We had also reserved another bath session after breakfast but couldn’t enjoy it leisurely due to delays in timing—leaving us with some disappointment at the end of our stay. Other than that incident, everything else was excellent! We would love to stay again if given another opportunity. Thank you very much!

    We stayed with our family and two dogs. Although it was unfortunately rainy, the rain stopped during our walk, and we were able to play in the dog run. It was spacious, and I think it would have been even better if the weather had been nice. The meals included a variety of dishes such as fish, meat, fried foods, and more. They were delicious and very filling. There was also a menu for dogs, which was great. The bath was in a separate building but featured an onsen open-air bath that we enjoyed. We would love to visit again!

    The staff are wonder...

    The staff are wonderful. The Room is equipped with dog supplies, and each floor has trash bins for disposing of pet sheets, making it a Hotel where guests with dogs can stay comfortably. The meals were good, but it would be even better if more attention was given to the rice and bread. I would like to stay here again.

    Overall, I was satisfied.

    The hotel shows signs of aging in various areas, but it seems to be well-maintained. However, the shower pressure in the onsen's washing area was weak, which was inconvenient. Some faucets were also broken, and water leaked from both the shower and faucet simultaneously; this issue needs repair. Additionally, addressing the sewage odor in the washing area would be appreciated. The guest rooms have been renovated and feel clean. There is no designated space within the facility for shampooing or blow-drying pets, causing congestion at the foot-washing station near the entrance. There was a small platform suitable for small dogs but insufficient space for large dogs to wash their feet or brush them comfortably. Dinner was excellent, and the chiffon cake from the dog menu was very generous in portion size. However, alcohol prices are notably high—draft beer costs over 1,000 yen per glass. The pet accommodation fee is also expensive. It seems that while basic accommodation fees are set low, additional charges balance out overall costs. Guests should anticipate spending an extra 10,000 yen (for drinks for two people and pet-related expenses) on top of their accommodation fee. Lastly, there aren't many tourist facilities nearby that allow pets; traveling to Takayama City or Matsumoto City takes just over an hour by car and may feel slightly inconvenient.

    Gifu Travel with Your Dog

    This was my first stay. The staff were polite, and the Hotel and Room were well-maintained with no noticeable pet odors. Ordering meals online directly from the table and settling the bill there was smooth and convenient. Although the Onsen building is located a bit further away, they provided down coats to ensure guests stayed warm, showcasing their attentive service. I would love to stay here again.

    Third stay

    The first place we stayed after welcoming our small dog was Takayama. This is our third time. We have decided to stay here for our wedding anniversary and bring our pet along. The staff's attentiveness to pets is excellent and makes us feel good. Also, we are always very satisfied with the meals.

    Satisfaction

    I used Wanwan Paradise for the first time. Among the Wanwan Paradise locations across the whole country, I went to Takayama, which has good reviews. Correct choice! As the reviews said, the food and the staff's service were excellent. The facility felt a bit aged, but it was well cleaned. The old equipment of the facility adds a certain charm. All the guests seemed to treat their dogs like family, so they were all nice people. The staff petted our dog, and I felt truly comforted knowing that the staff are genuine dog lovers. Thank you very much. I am grateful. As a dog lover, I was happy to have my beloved dog praised and adored. I thought I would use another Wanwan Paradise next time.

    Everything was perfect except for the urine smell in the room.

    We visited for a 2-night, 3-day trip to celebrate our beloved dog's birthday. The room was very spacious, and our small dog enjoyed playing as if it were a dog run. However, the strong urine smell from the carpet, tatami, and sofa was quite concerning. The bed was the only place without the odor, so we stayed there most of the time. Other than that, the food was delicious, the bath was very pleasant, and the staff's service was truly wonderful, prioritizing our dog, which made us very satisfied. It's just a shame about the urine smell in the room. If the urine smell in the room is improved, it would be a hotel we'd definitely want to stay at again.
