The Best Accommodation
We stayed as a family of four (two elementary school children and a couple). <Check-in> We checked in after 2:00 PM after swimming at Hakoishi Beach. Although we had dried off with towels, we let them know in advance that we still had some seawater and sand on us. They kindly guided us through the staff entrance, across the Room’s garden, and into the Room via the private open-air bath. Being able to rinse off first before entering made things easy, and we were able to relax without worrying about making a mess. <Meals> Dinner on the first day was a luxurious course featuring seafood and beef. Both the quality and quantity were excellent. The children’s meal also included sashimi, a whole grilled nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), tempura, and more—good enough for adults as well. In addition to the course, we were told they had fresh kensaki squid that day, so we enjoyed it as sashimi and tempura made from the legs. Dinner on the second day was also seafood-focused but different from the first night, so it never felt repetitive. We ordered salt-crusted abalone that evening; it was perfectly tender and delicious. After dinner on the first night, one of our children mentioned they would have preferred a Western-style plate over seafood, and they kindly accommodated this for dinner on the second night—we really appreciated it. On both nights, they prepared several rice balls for us after dinner, which we enjoyed later as a late-night snack. There was also a good selection of drinks centered around local sake, along with house-made umeshu (plum wine), which paired nicely with the meals. I took some photos of our meals and will share them here. <Room> Meals are served at a sunken kotatsu-style table area next to where four futons are laid out side by side. Even with all four futons down, there was still plenty of space. There was also a water dispenser available at any time for both cold water and hot water. The veranda looked like a great place to relax while enjoying views of the beautiful garden. The bath setup includes one indoor bath plus another accessed by stepping out into the garden area; there is no outdoor washing area outside. Both baths were spacious enough for two adults. <Other> On our second day, when we mentioned going to Yuhigaura Beach, they provided Shuttle Service for us. The seats in what seemed like a small bus were covered with blue tarps as well, so even after swimming we could ride without hesitation. They also stopped by a nearby supermarket before heading to the beach so we could shop—this was very helpful. There was also a set of fireworks in our Room that we enjoyed with our kids after dinner. We often visit this area and expect to stay here again in the future.

Savor the Finest Wild Tiger Pufferfish
Winter crab, early-summer white squid, and the salt-kiln-grilled abalone we always request as an optional add-on. At Waraku, you can enjoy seasonal delicacies throughout the year, but this time we tried their limited-time wild tiger pufferfish course for the first time, available only around Golden Week. We were truly impressed by the depth of Yuhigaura’s seafood. The beautifully presented sashimi platter (tessa) had a pleasantly chewy texture and was so delicious it ranks No. 1 among all the meals we’ve had at accommodations! The grilled milt was also exceptionally large, plump, and rich—perfect with Waraku’s own-label Junmai Daiginjo sake. And in this season especially, the private garden by the detached guest room feels at its most beautiful, with blooming flowers and vivid green moss. Whenever we’re worn out from everyday life and want to relax and feel restored, we always visit Waraku to Clear our minds.

Crab
The food was incredibly delicious. Everything was easy to eat, and the chef’s skills were outstanding. I would love to try dishes other than crab as well. The Room and the bath were both clean. It was disappointing that the amenities were minimal.

The finest seafood awaits you.
Fresh squid to enjoy during this season. This is our third visit to Waraku since crab season. The cheerful hostess always welcomes us warmly, marking the start of a peaceful time in the detached accommodations. The staff are bright and friendly, promptly and pleasantly accommodating even detailed requests. For fresh seafood, I know no better accommodation than Waraku. The squid sashimi is so fresh that the suction cups on its legs cling inside your mouth, and the leftover tentacle tempura is simply irresistible. Additionally, I highly recommend the extra abalone salt-baked dish—its exquisite flavor needs no explanation! The onsen open-air bath with its refreshing water quality allows you to relax while gazing at each room's private garden. Although it would be more comfortable if there were air conditioning in the toilet reminiscent of a countryside home, it's something manageable. Once again, we enjoyed a leisurely holiday here!
