    The TV wouldn’t turn...

    The TV wouldn’t turn on, so I contacted the front desk and a staff member came to check it, but it wasn’t fixed. Up to that point was fine, but there was no follow-up afterward, which I found very disappointing. Also, I ordered an item by phone, but they hung up before confirming the flavor, and as a result I received the wrong one. The Onsen was also small and not very impressive. I visit Bandai-Atami often, but I will never stay at this Ryokan again.

    We stayed for 2 nigh...

    We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Overall, it was comfortable. The bath on the 7th floor had a fairly lukewarm tub, which was great because soaking in it after the hotter tub let us enjoy a longer time without overheating. On the other hand, the bath on the 1st floor has only four washing stations. While there are multiple tubs, most are so small that they barely fit one or two people, so I wouldn’t really recommend it unless you visit on a quiet day or specifically want to try several small baths. Meals (both breakfast and dinner) changed between the first and second night, so even with a Multiple Night Stay we didn’t get bored. You can enjoy many different dishes in small portions, and there’s also a special, creative feel to them. Everything was tasty, but not so impressive that it’s worth setting your expectations too high. The fish dishes were average; the meat dishes were very good. It was also nice that you can order Fukushima sake and other drinks for an additional fee. All staff were warm and welcoming. The Room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. We could see nature through large windows, and the amenities/Facility were well equipped: a large desk with a sturdy chair, a powerful hair dryer, a full-length mirror (stand mirror), tea and coffee, etc. However, it was disappointing that the desk drawer hit the chair armrests making it hard to pull up close to the desk, and that the light on the stand mirror had dead batteries. Since we stayed during Obon season there were many families with children, so it may not suit those looking for a quiet adults-only atmosphere. Also, since it said “no cleaning unless requested” for Multiple Night Stay guests we didn’t ask for anything—but staff still entered our Room to replace amenities without warning us first. This part of their guidance is unclear. There are hardly any shops nearby such as convenience stores, so it’s not ideal if you plan to sightsee only in the immediate area. It seems better suited either for going out toward the station area or for relaxing at this Accommodation. We didn’t use it ourselves, but they also appear to offer a free Shuttle Service bus to another affiliated Onsen.

    It was a return visit.

    I revisited Eirakukan in Bandai-Atami for the first time in a while. I heard it was renovated last year. Since this was a last-minute decision and it was Golden Week, I made a Reservation for the one Room that was still available. Unfortunately, we stayed two nights in a north-facing Room that has not been renovated. The Japanese-style paper lamps were torn and damaged, making the Room quite dark. The ceiling lighting was limited to spotlights, which made it difficult to read. The TV was an older model and the screen had become dim as well. For a dark, north-facing Room, I hope at least the lighting can be replaced; it may be unsafe for guests with low vision. The large public bath on the 7th floor had been nicely renovated and was very comfortable to use—excellent overall. For meals, they kindly arranged different menus for both breakfast and dinner over our two-night stay, and everything was delicious. We enjoyed our meals at a relaxed pace in the spacious dining area. As for all staff members and services within the property, responses were quick with no waiting time—accurate and outstanding. Both the younger team members who will carry Eirakukan forward and the experienced staff worked with great energy and professionalism.

    Private room

    It was very good. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, so we didn’t use the large public bath, but the in-Room bath was also excellent. There were chairs in the Room, but it would have been nice to have a sofa. The meals were delicious as well. I’d like to visit again.

    Disappointing!!

    The check-in was extremely impersonal. The staff spoke very fast and only at their own pace, to the point that it was hard to fully understand what was being said. After finishing their explanation, they simply pointed out where the elevator was and that was it—basically “please go on your own.” I ended up dragging my luggage around to find my Room. When I entered the Room, I was surprised to see a paper cup provided at the washbasin. Dinner was served in two seatings; I chose 5:45 PM. At many Accommodations, you receive a call 10–5 minutes beforehand saying, “We are ready for you; please come to the dining venue,” so I went there five minutes early. However, we were not allowed in and there was a sign saying “Please wait for a while.” I thought it couldn’t be helped if they were sticking strictly to the time, so I waited in the hallway with other guests—but even when it reached the scheduled time, they still didn’t open. When I tried opening the door, I was told rather firmly to “please wait.” In the end, we were kept waiting in a cold hallway until five minutes past our reservation time. At checkout as well, there was no send-off and of course no help with luggage out to the parking lot. Two younger staff members were standing at the entrance but only said “Thank you.” I was astonished by how little hospitality there was for what we paid.

    A Hotel that is renovated every time you visit.

    This was my third stay, and each time I visit, the Facility has been renovated, making it even more comfortable. Last time, the dining area had been renewed, and this time the baths were on the 1st and 7th floors. I was happy to find two large public baths, both clean and comfortable, each with a different atmosphere. I booked a Plan with breakfast only, but the rice was so delicious that I had seconds with a large serving. All of the staff welcomed us with wonderful smiles and great service, which I truly appreciated. One thing I noticed: this time I stayed in a Japanese-style Room on the 6th floor, but the lock on the entrance door did not work smoothly and it was difficult to turn the cylinder. It turns easily when unlocking, but when locking it often would not turn at all, which became quite stressful.

    It was all the more disappointing because it was otherwise wonderful...

    The open-air bath in the Room, the meals, the large public bath, and the lounge were all wonderful, so it was disappointing that there was just one issue... There was a fairly loud noise all day long—possibly from a pump or compressor drawing Onsen water from the source. During the daytime and in the morning it didn’t bother me much, but at night when trying to sleep, it kept me awake. It also happened at irregular intervals, so just as I started to doze off, I’d hear “Grrr-grrr-grrr... whoooom.” In the end, it continued until morning. Since my Room was on the first floor with an open-air bath, it might not be noticeable on higher floors. Next time, I’d like to stay in a different Room.

    It feels lacking in energy.

    Room amenities (such as toothbrushes) were not provided. Both dinner and breakfast felt quite simple, with no dishes warmed using solid fuel or similar. The tableware was also rather plain. There were few small side dishes, and many of the items seemed like they could be prepared in advance, which made me feel the property may have been short-staffed overall. Cooking, serving, explanations, washing up, etc.—everything seemed streamlined to save labor, which left me feeling unsatisfied.

    Meals Featuring Ingredients from Fukushima Prefecture

    I had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I appreciated the welcome drink available next to the lobby, and the complimentary draft beer after a bath before dinner was a nice touch. The meals focused on ingredients from Fukushima Prefecture, with delicious sashimi from Joban and fresh vegetables. The Aizu Beko Milk Yogurt served at breakfast was also outstanding! However, I noticed an empty can left behind near the seating area by the vending machines on the first floor. It was unfortunate that it wasn’t cleaned up, especially since staff members passed by that spot frequently—though of course, the fault lies with those who left it there.

    Hope you had a wonderful New Year!

    I searched for an accommodation for my elderly mother and her friend's final trip together. I wanted a place close to the station with excellent meals. I gave them a map from the station, but they said they could spot the ryokan's name immediately upon looking up after getting off! The room was lovely (the garden covered in snow was beautiful), and they were thrilled with how incredibly delicious the meals were! The onsen was, of course, wonderful as well. They returned home completely satisfied, saying it was great that I chose this place!

    First Time at Eirakukan

    We stayed as a group of four, including my mother, aunt, and cousin. My mother and aunt are elderly, so we requested a Room with beds. The Room was spacious enough and very comfortable. The meals were excellent; dinner was a seated kaiseki course that was both delicious and enjoyable as we chatted together. The portions were generous, leaving us fully satisfied. Breakfast was also served seated and tasted wonderful. The staff were efficient, friendly, and attentive, making us want to stay here again in the future.

    I had a relaxing stay again.

    I was delighted to return as I had a wonderful experience staying in the same room last year. The large bath on the 7th floor has transformed into a stunning spa, which was very exciting. The other "Yuujiro no Yu" bath with gender rotation is quite small, so it was difficult to relax when it got crowded. The panoramic bath on the 7th floor is definitely recommended. The meals were delicious this time as well. The futon was very comfortable. The hot spring water of Bandai Atami Onsen seems to help balance the autonomic nervous system, allowing for a deep and restful sleep, which I truly appreciated. Thank you very much!

    The bathroom is small.

    Despite the decent size and number of Rooms, the public bath was very small with only six shower stations. During a busy weekend stay, it was difficult to find an available spot, and with others waiting as well, I couldn't relax properly. The dining hall staff seemed inexperienced and were unable to adequately answer questions about the meals or drinks. For the price paid, it felt like proper training might be lacking. The food itself was good.

    The meals are delicious.

    The Onsen was smaller than expected for its scale. However, it was convenient to check the crowd status via smartphone. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi connection in the Room was almost non-existent. There is a shuttle bus available to use the baths at a sister facility, which is recommended. The large public bath has been renovated and was very clean. Both dinner and breakfast were extremely delicious.

    The TV was large.

    Due to the two-shift system, meal times for both dinner and breakfast are either too early or too late. On days with fewer guests, it would be appreciated to have more convenient meal times. The alternating baths were disappointing as the time I wanted to use them only the smaller bath was available. The Room was renovated and clean. The TV was large, and it was great to watch Netflix.

    Amazing private Room bath with natural hot spring water!

    This was my first time staying here. Among the accommodations, the room named "Toyomi Luxe" exuded a luxurious atmosphere. The private open-air hot spring bath attached to the room was absolutely amazing. I don't know why, but I could stay in it forever. It wasn't lukewarm; it was just perfectly comfortable, and I ended up soaking for a long time. The food was also outstanding. The meat was high-quality, and the vegetables were fresh and delicious! It felt healthy yet incredibly satisfying. Both my husband and I felt thoroughly detoxed after our stay. Even breakfast was delightful... Fukushima is truly wonderful—I already want to come back again!

    Onsen under renovation

    I occasionally visit this accommodation. This time, I stayed with my elderly mother and a small child. In March, I noticed there were no private baths available. This time, the large public bath and the area that used to be a private bath alternated between morning and evening use. There was renovation work on the baths, and I only learned right before leaving that guests could use Hana no Yu nearby via shuttle service. Since traveling was difficult, we used the onsen within the facility instead, which was relaxing both at night and in the morning. I realized it’s important to gather information not only from reservation sites but also from the accommodation's official website beforehand—especially for repeat visits—to ensure everything is checked properly.

    It was comfortable.

    It was my first stay. Upon arrival, I immediately went to the Onsen at the affiliated hotel. Not knowing the layout, I only used one bath, but later found out there were many more baths further inside, which was a bit disappointing. However, my sons seemed happy as they got to enjoy several baths. After returning to this hotel and taking a bath after dinner, I felt satisfied. I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more next time. The room was clean and comfortable to stay in. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Being able to get seconds for breakfast by myself was also a nice touch. It was a calm and relaxing hotel atmosphere. Thank you for your hospitality!

    I thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing time at the Onsen.

    My husband found relief from his frozen shoulder at this Onsen, so we visited again. It was indeed very relaxing. The room was spacious, and the meals were absolutely delicious. The coffee after the meal was also delightful and made us happy. We look forward to visiting again next time!

    The meals were delicious.

    The Room, newly built in 2024, was incredibly clean and featured a Simmons bed that provided excellent comfort, perfect for relieving travel fatigue. However, due to COVID-19 measures, there was no guidance to the Room, and the in-room amenities were somewhat limited. The private open-air bath in the guest room was great, but considering the service level, it felt slightly overpriced. Dinner was served hot dish by dish and was absolutely delicious—overall, staying here was a great experience!

    If you want to enjoy an Onsen at a reasonable price

    It was great to enjoy the onsen hopping at Hana no Yu. Perhaps due to the difference in accommodation costs, there might be a noticeable difference in the large public baths. If you're looking for an affordable onsen accommodation including meals, I think it is worth the price.

    Despite making a same-day reservation and changing the arrival time, the staff responded very politely and kindly. The facility was clean, and the view from the window was beautiful, which helped relieve my travel fatigue. I plan to use this place again when I am in the area.

Perhaps as an apology for the renovation, draft beer was also available for free at the self-serve drink station with coffee and other beverages. The staff at the front desk and dining area were very attentive, making for a highly satisfying and enjoyable stay.

    Change of seasons

    This was my first visit. It is a convenient location, just 15 minutes by train from Koriyama and close to the station. The Hotel staff warmly welcomed us by coming outside to greet us in the cold weather, which made us feel very warm inside. Both the interior of the building and our room were clean and comfortable, allowing us to enjoy a pleasant one-night stay. The welcome drink, small snacks, and amenities were also well-prepared. Perhaps due to the low outside temperature, the open-air bath felt hot, but the indoor bath was just right. The meals offered a wide variety of dishes and we were very satisfied. Since there was still snow remaining and we couldn't explore the surroundings, I would like to visit again in a different season.

    I made a reservation...

    I made a reservation to go to an onsen for a 2-day, 1-night stay on short notice. It was my first time visiting a place called Bandai Atami, and since I used JR, I chose it for its proximity to the station. I enjoyed the delicious meals, the onsen, and the quiet location where I could relax. The guest room was a renovated room, so the water facilities were clean. The daybed by the window was also nice. The customer service was impeccable, but I would have appreciated a bit more guidance (e.g., whether the water and mini cup noodles provided in the room were complimentary (they seemed to be), whether there were lockers for valuables at the onsen (there were lockers with keys, but there was a note in the bath area to use the room's safety box), and whether rackets for table tennis could be borrowed at the front desk (it seemed necessary to inquire at the front desk)). The onsen and bath had a slightly old feel, but they were thoroughly cleaned, and I felt a sense of cleanliness. The meals were delicious, featuring both Western and Japanese dishes using ingredients from Fukushima. Since I arrived around 15:45, the only option for dinner time was 19:15-19:35, so for those who prefer an earlier dinner, it might be better to check with the property in advance about early check-in or reservation options. Overall, I had a very satisfying stay. Thank you very much.
