    Wonderful

This was my first stay here. The staff’s hospitality and attentiveness, the well-kept garden, the delicious meals, the atmosphere of the open-air bath, and even the adorable cats made it truly special. Everything was outstanding. I would love to visit again.

    Thank you very much.

We stayed as a family of four, including our two elementary-school-aged daughters. When making the Reservation, I casually noted in the comments that our older daughter likes fish and our younger daughter likes meat, and we were truly amazed by the quality of the meals prepared to match each of their preferences. Including meals for us as well, it was no exaggeration to say they were the best we have ever had during any stay. The in-room bath, open-air bath, and large public bath were all wonderfully relaxing, and all staff members were very kind. It was a fantastic trip. We would love to visit again as a family.

    Healing Accommodation

This was our second stay. The standout is the drinkable hot spring water—like a salty soda. When you drink it, it feels like it soaks into your whole body and gives you energy. The pork shabu-shabu served with vegetables using the spring water was wonderfully tender, and the famous breakfast rice porridge was also outstanding. We really appreciated how thoroughly local ingredients are used. My husband, who loves a drink, was impressed by how well the selection is curated for people who enjoy alcohol. We also enjoyed the delicious limited-edition beer that can only be had here. The charming, historic atmosphere of the property is soothing as well. Next time, we’d like to visit in autumn when the fiery fall colors are at their peak. Thank you for telling us about a nearby lotus flower spot that’s only open this season—we were able to see truly beautiful scenery. Thank you very much for everything. Meeting Nyan, the cat manager, was also the best!

    It’s been renovated, but…

The Room’s hinoki bath was new and very pleasant. However, the floor of the open-air private family bath was slippery, which made me question the cleanliness. It was also disappointing that there was no coffee provided in the Room. I understand that pork shabu-shabu was the main dish for dinner, but I would have preferred to enjoy more traditional dishes.

    This was a Ryokan th...

This was a Ryokan that continues to preserve the best of traditional Japanese culture. While many Ryokan these days are becoming more like overseas Hotels, the staff, dressed in happi coats, welcomed us with warm smiles and made us feel truly comfortable. The cuisine was beautifully presented and generously featured locally sourced ingredients, leaving our whole family very satisfied. The bath was surrounded by lovely fresh greenery, and we were able to relax at a leisurely pace. From our Room, we enjoyed a soothing view of greenery and a pond. We would love to return again in a different season.

    The food was absolutely delicious.

Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Each dish was thoughtfully and carefully prepared, reflecting the chef’s warm personality. I would love to come back just to enjoy this cuisine again. I stayed in a first-floor Room on the pond side on a very cold day, and I think it would be much more comfortable in summer. The Onsen was very relaxing.

    We had a relaxing stay.

The autumn foliage in 2025 was underwhelming, and the garden leaves seen from the Room felt a bit sparse. This was due to the weather, so it couldn’t be helped. The Room was spacious and comfortable, and the bath was relaxing and very pleasant. For meals, Tsubakikan Kaiseki wasn’t available as an option so we had the standard course, but it was still very delicious. When I stayed previously in Yushō-no-Ma it wasn’t like this, but this time everything in the refrigerator was complimentary. It would have been nice to have a Bluetooth speaker. I’d like to stay again.

A nostalgic accommodation with delicious meals

The meals were excellent. My wife mentioned that the food felt gentle on the body, and I completely agree. Each ingredient was of high quality, and the seasoning was mild and comforting. The accommodation as a whole was well-maintained, clean, and comfortable while also offering a nostalgic Showa-era charm. When we arrived by car, the staff promptly greeted us and helped with our luggage, which we greatly appreciated. However, perhaps due to its Showa-style influence, there seemed to be no shoe lockers at the large public bath? Leaving shoes near the entrance made me worry they might get mixed up or taken by mistake. Additionally, when heading to the outdoor open-air bath, you need to switch from indoor slippers to outdoor ones; however, those slippers were not in great condition. Honestly speaking, I would prefer not to use slippers that others have worn before. While this may have been common in past eras like Showa times, I feel such considerations or improvements are necessary in today's age. That said, it’s easy to understand why this "Ryokan," which preserves valuable traditions into Reiwa times, has such high review scores. I hope it continues being loved by many people moving forward—and personally wish to support it as well!

    Satisfied

This was my several-time visit. The property seems to have undergone renovations, with a refreshed exterior. The Room's Onsen bath has been beautifully updated while maintaining its semi-open-air ambiance, allowing us to enjoy it 24 hours a day. It was relaxing even during late nights and early mornings. Meals were served in a kaiseki-style menu and were delicious, as was the breakfast. The selection of sake, wine, and sparkling options was extensive; this time, I enjoyed sake and sparkling wine. It seems you can bring your own wine for an additional fee, so I plan to bring my favorite wine next time. Located slightly away from the main street in a forested area, we also enjoyed strolling around the surroundings. I look forward to visiting again!

    A Ryokan with traditional charm

Famous tourist spots are, of course, crowded with foreigners everywhere you go—both tourists and staff. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle for a relaxing time, this place offers a different experience. It still retains its charm, allowing me to truly unwind for the first time. A Ryokan that feels like a true Ryokan, with delicious dinner that I might have overindulged in just a bit!

    It became a wonderful memory.

It was my first visit to Shiota Onsen, and the water made my skin smooth and is even said to be drinkable. The onsen was truly wonderful. Above all, the warm hospitality of the accommodation staff left a lasting impression with their subtle yet heartfelt care, making it an unforgettable trip. Thank you very much!

    Relax and unwind

I had a relaxing time in a quiet room. Plenty of hand towels were prepared before the onsen, and the well-equipped amenities showed thoughtful care. I chose sukiyaki, and the Tajima beef was delicious. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again.

It was a very nice accommodation.

Stayed with four female friends. Although it was nearly fully booked on Saturday, the separate annex buildings ensured complete tranquility without hearing other guests, allowing us to relax. The Facility has a retro Showa-era charm but is clean, with soft hot water and surrounded by beautiful nature. It was an excellent stay at a very reasonable price. Meals were delicious and well-portioned, with the breakfast rice porridge being particularly delightful. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. While the location is a bit far from the station, they provided a bus service for transportation. I would love to visit again. Thank you!

A serene and luxurious Onsen Ryokan surrounded by nature

A luxurious Onsen Ryokan nestled in lush mountains, where we were warmly welcomed from the start. We stayed in a room in the main building with an open-air bath. The outdoor bath at the back, surrounded by maple and pieris trees, offered a rustic charm with perfectly warm water for a relaxing soak. The meals were kaiseki-style, featuring steamed local vegetables, tempura, grilled river fish (Amame) with salt, and pork hot pot—all incredibly delicious. The portions were just right; however, everything was so tasty that we ordered an additional Tajima beef steak on a ceramic plate while enjoying some alcohol. For breakfast, we had rice porridge cooked using the original Onsen source water—it had a slightly salty flavor and was absolutely delightful. Our room was newly renovated—spacious and impeccably clean—and before departing in the morning, we enjoyed another soak in our private open-air bath. My spouse and I had a peaceful weekday stay together. We also had pleasant conversations with tourists visiting from America during our time there—it made for such an enjoyable experience! We look forward to returning during autumn to see the beautiful fall foliage again. Thank you for your warm hospitality!

    It was great.

We apologize for leaving food uneaten as my husband was unwell and couldn't enjoy the meals. The room was comfortable overall, though the air conditioner or ventilation fan above the bed was a bit noisy. It was nice to have a sufficient amount of coffee beans provided, which we could grind and brew ourselves. The Bluetooth speaker allowed us to enjoy music from our smartphones. The Onsen was very relaxing, and the staff's hospitality was excellent. Since my husband wasn't feeling well this time, the room with a bed was perfect for resting. Next time, we'd love to stay in one of your renovated Japanese-style rooms with a private bath. Thank you very much!

    Family trip

The pick-up service from the station after finishing the Himeji Marathon was very much appreciated for my tired body. The dinner in the large private room was shabu-shabu with meat and vegetables that were so plentiful and delicious, it was hard to believe it was meant for four people, leaving us very satisfied. I had pre-ordered a cake for a family member's birthday, and it turned into a wonderful surprise birthday party with the staff singing while lighting candles on the cake in a completely darkened room. They even took family photos around the cake, making it a great memory. When we returned to our room, we were pleasantly surprised by their thoughtfulness as they had placed yukata and towels at our door in case we were concerned about food smells on our yukata. The staff member who attended to us during dinner provided such excellent service that I would like to use this ryokan again when visiting Himeji. It was a very nice ryokan where you can enjoy peace and leisure time. Thank you very much.

Used for a family trip at the end of the year.

We stayed as a family of four. The building has an old charm, and the room was beautifully renovated, allowing us to stay comfortably. We had our meals in the room both in the morning and evening, and there were no cold dishes; everything was delicious and very satisfying. It was a property we would like to use again.

    A pleasant traditional Ryokan

We stayed with our son and his wife, bringing along our 3-month-old grandchild. The building has a historical charm, and including the spacious garden, it was well-maintained and pleasant. The room we requested for in-room dining was renovated, and the bath facing the garden was filled with the scent of cypress when the door was opened. We enjoyed the open-air bath and the large public bath. The meals were all delicious, and the additional meat we ordered was, of course, tasty, and we were able to enjoy a lot of cost-effective sake. The young proprietress who attended to us was very attentive and enjoyable, and I felt that her conversation and smile were part of the delicious meal. The breakfast porridge was also delicious, and the coffee after the meal was brought in a siphon, which was a delight for coffee lovers. From the welcome to the farewell, the attentiveness of the staff, who were not many in number, was wonderful. They were considerate even to the baby, allowing us to enjoy the meals and baths at a leisurely pace. The spacious garden and the open-air bath are filled with maple trees, so I wonder how wonderful the view will be in autumn. It is a property I would definitely like to visit again during the fall foliage season.

    An amazing hot spring, anyway.

This ancient hot spring is simply wonderful. I enjoyed the spring water and spring porridge, both were delicious. The dinner and breakfast were also very delicious. I think maintaining the vast garden must be quite a task. I believe it takes a lot of cost to run it for a long time. However, I thought that saving on amenities, which are usually provided in the bathrooms of inns considered good, might lead to some inconvenience. I prefer hot springs where you can enter empty-handed. I would like to visit again in a different season. Thank you very much.
