    Your First Visit to Yubara Onsen

    Because it was raining, we arrived earlier than planned. We were told you would keep our car key, so we handed it over, but no reason was explained. When I happened to look at the parking lot, our car had been moved, which made us feel very uncomfortable. This may depend on the guest, but we did not like it. We were told it was moved there because it is a small car, but if you had explained the reason at check-in, we would have understood—and we would have moved it ourselves. I don’t know how this may appear to others, but for us it is an important car and we do not want anyone else driving it; having it moved without explanation in the rain to a spot farther from the entrance made for a truly unpleasant start. The building is old, but we fully enjoyed the Onsen and the beautiful view. The food was truly delicious, and the proprietress provided warm and enjoyable hospitality. Thank you very much.

    Highly recommended Accommodation!

    Soaking in the gentle hot water was truly soothing, and the delicious cuisine (the broth was exceptionally good) was a delight. The riverside scenery, including the sand bath, was beautiful as well—an outstanding Accommodation. Above all, the hostess’s hospitality was exceptional. This is an Accommodation I highly recommend and would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    The warm hospitality from the young staff member at the front desk and the international staff was outstanding!

    Returning to Yubara Onsen for the first time in 30 years brought back memories of spending time there with my late father-in-law, sharing the Onsen together. This Ryokan, standing right in front of the famous Yubara Onsen Sunayu open-air bath on the west side, offered hospitality that fully lived up to my expectations. These days, many places can’t operate without relying on foreign workers, but everyone here seemed lively and cheerful, which left a very positive impression. In particular, a young woman who said she was working on a two-month contract responded with quick thinking and brisk efficiency—it was truly pleasant. The live-kitchen-style dining area made the food taste even better, and the morning rice topped with raw egg was outstanding; I couldn’t help but go back for seconds.

    We stayed in the Cig...

    We stayed in the Cigar Suite. Because my husband smokes, I’ve always struggled to choose an Accommodation when we travel… This time we decided to stay in Yubara Onsen, and while researching I found this Room. I couldn’t believe it had a smoking area inside the Room—and even a beer server—so I made a Reservation thinking this was the only choice for us. After actually staying there, it was wonderful to see my husband relaxing instead of constantly going in and out of the Room like he usually does. The proprietress also explained why she created this Room, and I felt it was designed so both smokers and non-smokers can enjoy their time together. The food was delicious, and we were able to see the famous Sunayu scenery as well, so we truly had a great time. All of the staff welcomed us with lovely smiles, which helped us relax and enjoy a peaceful stay.

    A wonderful Accommodation

    This was my second stay, and the warm, home-like atmosphere and wonderful hospitality were outstanding. The food and the Onsen were both excellent! It’s my favorite Ryokan, and I will definitely stay again.

    We’re extremely satisfied!

    We stayed here to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday. We were very satisfied last time, and this visit was just as wonderful and did not disappoint. The cuisine made the most of the ingredients, and both the portion size and quality were impeccable. Since our previous stay, a young head chef has taken over, but they have clearly carried on the tradition with great care. We are already looking forward to our next stay. The service was courteous and attentive, making us feel truly comfortable and cared for. Please continue to delight your guests for years to come. Thank you again so much!!!

    Charming Accommodation

    It felt like a traditional and historic Japanese accommodation full of charm. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were highly satisfying, especially the salt-grilled Amago fish, which was incredibly fluffy and moist—unlike anything I've ever tasted before. One downside was that the sink in the room only had cold water, which might be tough during winter. Perhaps higher-grade rooms have hot water as well; it would have been nice to know this at the time of reservation. The staff were all kind and made my stay very pleasant.

    The meals exceed 5-star quality.

    The Facility is old, and it would be great if the variety of bathroom amenities could be increased. However, the hostess's attentiveness is outstanding—truly No.1! The meals are always delicious. The perfectly grilled fish, the fluffy texture of the rolled omelet, and the gentle flavor of the broth... It's beyond 5 stars! Thank you very much!

    It was a very comfortable accommodation.

    This was the last accommodation of our trip, and it was the most comfortable. Dinner was kaiseki cuisine, and every dish was delicious. We enjoyed draft beer and a recommended local sake tasting set. Breakfast was also very satisfying. The overall atmosphere of the accommodation was soft, calm, and very comfortable. Having a massage chair in the room was a nice touch as well. With a checkout time of 11:00 AM, we had time to explore the surroundings after breakfast and spent our stay very leisurely. It’s an accommodation I would love to visit again.

    Not recommended due to hygiene, environment, and service.

    First, there was leftover toilet paper in the toilet bowl, possibly from a previous guest or cleaning. Since the toilet flushes automatically when standing up, it likely wasn't used paper, but it was unpleasant. Additionally, the trash bin contained used tissues and scraps of newspaper from a previous guest. Extremely unhygienic. While other areas appeared clean, there were concerns about hygiene overall. Meals at a place with such hygiene issues are not worth evaluating. Furthermore, on the day of stay, there was a local event across the river from the hotel with loud hip-hop music blasting from 3 PM check-in time until past 9 PM. Even with windows and curtains closed, the noise echoed throughout the room due to poor soundproofing. It was so disruptive that I checked and found out it was supposed to end by 9 PM; however, even after 10 minutes past that time, it continued. When I called reception to complain, they assured me they would stop it immediately; eventually it did stop after some time. However, managing such events should be handled properly by reception with consideration for guests. Being forced to listen to music I had no interest in while in my room was extremely unpleasant. The purpose of coming here—to relax in an Onsen while listening to soothing river sounds—was completely lost as no river sounds could be heard at all. There were no announcements about this event or loud noise on their website or through any prior communication like email—not even during check-in. Even after filing complaints during my stay, there were no apologies or follow-ups from reception at checkout. I deeply regret not choosing another accommodation instead and will never return nor recommend this place under any circumstances.

    You can enjoy the view of the charming "Sunayu".

    The car navigation directed us to a parking lot quite far from the Stays, but in reality, you can park near the Property. The Japanese staff provided courteous service. The guest room was along the Asahikawa River, offering a good view and ample space, though the amenities were simple. The Onsen included a sauna, but the interior was dark and not relaxing. On the other hand, the open-air bath was spacious and located where you could overlook the "Sunayu," a famous feature of Yubara Onsen. At night, the lit-up Sunayu had a charming atmosphere. Dinner was enjoyable with detailed explanations and good taste. Breakfast was also very good, with free refills of rice with egg. It is a charming Onsen Ryokan with a good location even in Yubara.

    Very satisfied.

    I stayed in a nice room to relax. The room was spacious, with a kotatsu, allowing for a leisurely stay. Although it was an old ryokan with some peeling floors and cracked lights, it had a unique charm that only old properties possess. Despite its age, the room was kept very clean, making for a pleasant stay. The large public bath was not too hot, and the bath in the room was slightly hotter, which was very warming and nice. The meals were of moderate quantity and had a gentle taste, which my elderly mother was very satisfied with. This ryokan is recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing time.

    It is not a luxury Ryokan, but

    The quality of the Onsen water was very good. The amount of food was also plentiful and good. Also, it was a nice place with a lot of greenery near the sand bath.

    I decided to stay on...

    I decided to stay on the day itself, and they were very accommodating with baby food, which was a great help. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were all very delicious. Looking at the notices inside the facility, I saw that there are different events and meals for each season, making me want to stay during each period. During our stay, all the staff were very kind to our child, and our child was very happy.
