    The Onsen was incred...

    The Onsen was incredibly relaxing, and I was able to unwind and enjoy a peaceful stay. I also appreciated that it is free-flowing from the source and available 24 hours a day. The water temperature was just right, and it left my skin feeling silky smooth. We had dinner on a riverside dining platform, and it was wonderful to enjoy the scenery and the sound of the flowing river while eating. The meal was delicious and had a great seasonal feel. The staff were courteous, which made the stay very comfortable. I would love to return if I have the chance.

    His Birthday Trip

    We stayed at an Onsen accommodation for his birthday trip. The snow was incredible, as expected in the Aizu region. Upon arrival, the front desk staff immediately noticed us and guided us to our room. We stayed in a room with a private bath offering a scenic view. The snowy landscape from the room was stunning. It was a corner room, very quiet, and we enjoyed multiple baths in the private onsen within the room. The changing area surprised us—it was so spacious! It was almost as large as the bath itself. There was even a massage chair, which he absolutely loved. The bathtub was so big that it easily fit both of us comfortably. We ended up extending our stay with late check-out for the next day. For dinner, we had sukiyaki along with a half-buffet style meal. There were many varieties of dishes to enjoy, and we ate plenty! Thank you for the dessert plate—it was delicious. Breakfast was buffet-style as well. Aizu's rice had such sweetness and tasted amazing. The public bath felt like an open-air or semi-open-air onsen by a mountain stream—very atmospheric. The water temperature was perfect and left our skin feeling smooth. We would love to stay again in one of your rooms with a private scenic bath. Thank you very much!

    There are four types of private Onsen, and they were excellent. Next time, I would like to stay in a Room with an open-air bath.

    The indoor onsen bath is spacious and impressive.

    The room was spacious and comfortable. The refrigerator only had water, but the kettle was stocked with tea, coffee, and more. The highlight was the large private bath in the room—it felt very luxurious. The windows were big with an amazing view, including a waterfall. The staff were pleasant, and the French cuisine was delicious. However, there was no lounge service in the lobby; at most, there were small tastings of sake available. While enjoying the indoor onsen in our room, it would have been nice to cool off afterward—but since none of the windows could open, it wasn’t possible to take a long soak comfortably. The inability to open any windows gave a sense of confinement. Since there’s no balcony either, having at least one window with a screen for ventilation would have been appreciated. Considering this is an upgraded room category, it would be nice if beer or similar beverages were provided in the refrigerator as part of the service—though I ended up buying some from a vending machine. Additionally, not having fresh flowers anywhere made things feel less warm or welcoming; even at reception, only artificial flowers were displayed. Even older ryokans often display at least one fresh flower as a gesture of hospitality—it makes all the difference. A ryokan I stayed at recently even included notes about each flower’s meaning alongside their arrangements!

    Is it acceptable because it's cheap?

    The Facility amenities are minimal. Disappointed to find no towels in the washroom. The food is not bad, but if it's a buffet, I would like fruits and salad included. It was my first time experiencing a Japanese-style buffet. Everything seems focused on cost-cutting. I will not visit again.

    It was a delightful stay.

    I stayed at the accommodation as a gift from my husband for my birthday. The well-maintained facilities, the warm and attentive service from the staff, and the breathtaking view from the open-air bath were all incredibly relaxing. As for the meals, I initially wondered what a "half buffet" would be like, but both options turned out to be absolutely delicious. Considering the flexibility and portion sizes, it was perfect for us—we enjoyed everything without any leftovers. After checking out, I had to use the lounge for a while due to work-related issues, but I was allowed to stay without any discomfort or inconvenience. I truly appreciated this kindness. When we visit Aizuwakamatsu again, we will definitely choose this accommodation and look forward to soaking in that wonderful open-air bath once more. Thank you very much!

    It was a very nice accommodation.

    A room with a semi-open-air bath, surrounded by greenery, provided a relaxing experience. Meals were a French full-course at the chef's table, where you could watch the cooking through the glass-walled kitchen. French cuisine at an Onsen accommodation is innovative. The large public bath was spacious and enjoyable as well.

    While enjoying the upstream river flow, the sound of waterfalls and cicadas, and the lush green trees before your eyes, you can relax in our high-quality natural hot spring baths to ease your travel fatigue. The staff's attentive hospitality until the very end made me want to visit again. The breakfast was also incredibly delicious. Thank you very much!

    Perfect

    I stayed for 3 nights, and it was a perfect accommodation. Dinner was a French course meal for all three days, with explanations from the head chef, making it a slightly luxurious experience. Breakfast was also served in the French restaurant and felt indulgent. The stone-built room's bath was impressive as well. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again and again.

    A bit disappointing.

    This time, I chose to reserve a Japanese-Western style room, but the room felt smaller than expected, and the entrance was extremely narrow—when four people took off their shoes, the door couldn't close. The food was delicious, but other aspects were a bit disappointing. Considering it was priced the same as special rooms at other Ryokans, it felt unfortunate.

    The staff were very courteous, and the meals were delicious.

    The exterior of the building looks old, but once inside, it has been renovated, and the Room was very clean with a lovely semi-open-air bath. Both dinner and breakfast were served fresh by the chef visible through the glass, with detailed explanations for each dish. The portions were just right, leaving us fully satisfied. The staff members were all very polite and welcoming with their smiles, making it a truly relaxing trip. One small disappointment was that although we were told to help ourselves to drinks in the Room, there were only two bottles of water in the refrigerator. After arriving at the Ryokan and wanting to relax with a beer first thing, I had no choice but to go down to the lobby to buy one from the shop. However, I couldn’t find any beer there and eventually discovered that alcohol was sold only at a single vending machine located far beyond the shop. Since I didn’t have cash on me at that moment, I had to return to my Room for money before purchasing it from there. It would have been appreciated if alcohol or tea could be stocked in the refrigerator even as paid options!

    The half-buffet was very satisfying. The large public bath had a high temperature and was slightly hot, but it felt great. Although there may be some signs of aging, it was a satisfying one-night stay.

    The meals were delicious.

    It was a last-minute decision to book this accommodation for our Golden Week trip, but the meals were incredibly delicious, especially the horse sashimi which was exceptional. The half-buffet allowed us to enjoy local dishes and desserts, leaving us full and very satisfied. The male staff at the shop kindly shared many recommendations for sightseeing spots and dining places. Although we had no specific plans for the next day, we visited the suggested spots and thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Aizu. From our room, we could admire the fresh greenery, and the onsen was very relaxing. We would love to visit again if given another opportunity. Thank you so much!

    I realized that I surprisingly didn't know much about places to stay near where I live, so I made a reservation. I was satisfied with the onsen quality at Higashiyama Onsen, as it suited my preferences. The food was also carefully prepared, and I enjoyed having it at the buffet, making me want to visit again.

    One night stay in a Japanese-style room with bath and toilet, including dinner and breakfast. Higashiyama Onsen is conveniently located near Aizuwakamatsu Station, yet it is a quiet onsen area with rivers and waterfalls, making it a very nice place. The Ryokan was not too large, and the renovations are gradually progressing, creating a very comfortable atmosphere with a mix of old and new. The staff were very pleasant and warm. There are four clean and spacious private open-air baths, each with a different ambiance, and they were very comfortable, so we used them multiple times. The meals were in a semi-buffet style, which has been increasing recently, allowing guests to adjust the amount they eat individually, which was helpful. The variety and taste of the menu were satisfying. The dining area was also renovated into semi-private rooms, creating a calm atmosphere. Although it was only a one-night stay, the quality of the onsen's natural hot spring water was very good, allowing us to relax and refresh. It became a Ryokan that I would like to stay at again. Thank you very much.

    It was excellent.

    We stayed in a room with an onsen for our wedding anniversary. The bath was much larger than we expected. The water was smooth, but it warmed us to the core. We indulged in the luxury of soaking multiple times. The meals were delicious, and the staff were very pleasant, making it a very satisfying trip. Thank you very much.     Wonderful welcome drink!

    The building is old as expected from a long-established property, but there was ingenuity in the way the meals were served. Only the minimum dishes that the property wants to offer are placed on the table, and any additional side dishes can be taken as much as you like in a buffet style. This system prevents food waste and ensures you don't have to eat anything you don't like, making it a very rational and good system. The same system applies to both dinner and breakfast. For those who will be staying and enjoy drinking, I recommend the welcome drink held every night on the 1st floor before meals. You can enjoy local ginjo sake and seishu. Heading to dinner with a slight buzz from the drinks makes the meal very delicious and economical. If I had to point out a drawback, it would be that you have to walk a little to the parking lot (just a few minutes though). Other than that, it was a good property, including the onsen.

    I chose to stay here while searching for a property with a natural hot spring. It was a bit disappointing that the autumn leaves hadn't started yet, but the windows of the ryokan were filled with greenery everywhere. The onsen had spacious bathtubs, and I could enjoy a relaxing bath without it being too crowded. The room had double windows, and closing the inner door blocked out the outside light, allowing for a good night's sleep with sound and light insulation. The water facilities were well-maintained, making for a pleasant stay. At first, the rattan chair and mini table in the corner of the Japanese-style room felt out of place, but they turned out to be very convenient. It was extremely helpful for sitting down or placing items when changing clothes. The dining area seemed to have been recently renovated, exuding a sense of luxury. (It lifts your spirits!) Initially, the table was set up like a Japanese set meal, and then you could choose from a wide variety of buffet options. There were also many desserts, which is great for those who love sweets. Overall, my impression is that it's a nice property where you can spend a calm and relaxing time. I hope to visit again.

    Excellent service.

    This time, I used the service for the first time. The autumn leaves were about a week early, which was a bit disappointing, but every staff member at the Stays provided excellent service, making my stay very pleasant. The sashimi and grilled fish were all delicious, and the mushroom rice was superb. The raw egg in the morning was rich and tasty. It is a Property I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity.

    Neither too close nor too distant

    I referred to the reviews on the site, but I felt it was a bit different from the evaluation. The rooms overall have an old feel, and the door opening and closing sounds are noticeable. I would have liked to have lotion and emulsion in the wash area if possible. The dining area was semi-private, and the service was neither too close nor too distant, which was good, but I would have been happier with a few more items in the half-buffet.

    Honestly... is this all there is?

    The front desk service is sloppy. The welcome drink is incredibly stingy. Only lemon water and two types of sake are available from 4 PM to 7 PM (of course, with no guidance from the front desk). Cute yukata (500 yen rental) and private baths (2000 yen rental) are all charged! Is it inevitable? The shop only has souvenirs. Other than that, there are vending machines. For dinner, there are raw items and a few processed items in a box like an appetizer set. The rest you choose from the buffet. The pickles were delicious. There's nothing else noteworthy. For breakfast, there's cold grilled fish and a hot pot, and you choose other side dishes from the buffet. The rolled omelet was delicious. There's nothing else noteworthy (maybe it's okay since it's breakfast). If you come here with high expectations, you'll be disappointed. Let's come without expecting too much! The price was about 50,000 yen for one night with two meals. Good luck.
