    The food is outstanding!

Thank you for taking care of us again after two years. Once again, the food was very delicious. The Onsen was flawless as well. We will visit again, and we look forward to seeing you then.

    We had a relaxing stay!

The private family bath was spacious and even had a waterfall feature, with the water at just the right temperature, so we could soak and relax. The atmosphere of the large public bath was also wonderful. The meals featured local ingredients, the portions were just right, and we were very satisfied! If you have mobility issues, going up and down to the first floor may be difficult, but it was a quiet place to spend time. We’d love to visit again after a hike in the mountains.

    It was very relaxing.

The food was absolutely delicious. We were also very satisfied that the private Onsen bath was available 24 hours a day. The hostess kindly told us about nearby sightseeing spots, which made our trip even more enjoyable. We would love to visit again with my husband.

It was a long-awaited return visit.

I had a great first impression on my initial visit, so I wanted to come back. The friendly service makes it easy to relax. I enjoyed soaking at a leisurely pace in the open-air bath, the private bath, and the nearby waterfall-style bath. The meal was from a smaller-portion Plan, but it was more than enough and very delicious. This Accommodation suits me well.

    Thank you for taking...

Thank you for taking care of us during this season of beautiful fresh greenery. Despite the high ratings, the price was reasonable, and the online Facility information only mentioned the Room and baths—there was no description of the meals, which are usually highlighted—so I wondered if it might not be much. That worry turned out to be unfounded. The building has a layout with the lobby on the 3rd floor and rooms below; our Room was on the 2nd floor with autumn leaves right in front of us—I'm sure it must look stunning in fall. The bath is an expanded rock bath, and the open-air bath is comparable to those at high-end Ryokan; however, I do have some doubts about the older bath. The meals were excellent: mountain vegetables, river fish, horse sashimi, tender beef, and chawanmushi (you can tell they take pride in it)—we enjoyed everything. The proprietress’s warm smile and friendly manner (she’s also a mountaineer) made it clear: in the end, it’s all about people.

We stayed in a room ...

We stayed in a room with a private onsen bath. The views from both the room and the onsen were excellent, and the staff were very kind and attentive. However, I feel there is room for improvement in the variety and overall quality of both dinner and breakfast. While the wagyu beef and horse sashimi were high quality, I had expected a more refined meal featuring exceptional ingredients throughout. Breakfast also lacked standout dishes.

I had a peaceful and relaxing time.

We stayed as a family of four during the long weekend in late November. While the building is not new, the interior was clean and comfortable. The furnishings inside had a historical charm that made us feel cozy. The four private baths were a delight to use freely! The open-air Onsen was also great, though the washing area felt chilly during this season. The meals were carefully prepared dish by dish; the meat was delicious (I wish I could have eaten more! Haha), and we enjoyed plenty of local ingredients. Breakfast was well-balanced, and having coffee included was a nice touch. We had a lovely chat with the charming hostess about Onsen eggs (we made some at nearby Komatsu Jigoku). During autumn foliage season, this quaint Ryokan provided us with peaceful moments. I’d love to recommend it to friends—thank you so much!

It was an accommodation with great satisfaction!

The cuisine, staff service, Onsen, and value for money were all absolutely satisfying. Especially the cuisine, featuring Bungo beef and ayu fish along with seasonal ingredients, was truly delicious and impressive. We used this facility to celebrate my mother's birthday, and thanks to your thoughtful arrangements, she was very delighted. I would definitely love to visit again.

    Accommodation from Kumamoto.

This was my first time staying here, and the hostess was incredibly kind. The staff who showed me to my Room provided clear and detailed explanations, making everything easy to understand. The meals served used local ingredients, had just the right portions, and were absolutely delicious! While I was dining, they even prepared the bedding for me—it felt perfect. When it was time to leave and it started raining, they kindly walked me to my car with an umbrella. I was completely satisfied until the very end! I would love to stay here again!

    Second stay

This was my second stay. I stayed in a Japanese-style room with a private indoor bath, allowing me to bathe anytime within 24 hours. Additionally, I could use the family bath whenever it was available, making my stay very comfortable. The food was delicious, and I am extremely satisfied.

    I stayed here for my...

I stayed here for my first solo trip. Although I was a bit nervous, the hostess and staff warmly welcomed me, which made me feel at ease. There are five baths, and I used three of them; each had its own charm and was very relaxing. The Room was spacious enough, and the meals were delicious.

Highly satisfied and would love to come again!

Although not widely known in the Kanto region, Sujiyu Onsen is truly wonderful. Shirataki is a small Ryokan, but this allows for attentive service and delicious meals served hot. While the selection of beverages during meals is limited, the prices are surprisingly reasonable for a Ryokan. The staff are cheerful and kind, making conversations enjoyable. Despite having fewer than 10 rooms, this small Ryokan offers two private baths, two family baths, and one open-air bath each for men and women. The private and family baths do not require reservations; you can enjoy them anytime they are available as your own private Onsen experience. Among these, the "Fureai no Yu" near the open-air bath comes highly recommended—it features a spacious bath with two waterfall showers. The open-air baths are not available for private use but tend to be uncrowded due to the number of baths relative to rooms. However, please note that the view from these baths may not be remarkable. While it may lack some of the luxurious amenities found in major high-end Ryokans—such as room quality or facilities—the affordable rates even on Saturdays make it an excellent choice. With delicious cuisine, peaceful surroundings, attentive service, and cleanliness throughout the accommodation, this is truly an exceptional place to stay. As I live in Kanto and cannot visit frequently, I look forward to staying here again someday!

    Accommodation Beyond Expectations

An accommodation that exceeded expectations after researching on IKYU or the official website. The purpose was to relax in the Onsen. The staff at the accommodation were pleasant. Especially, the meals were well-seasoned, served hot one by one, and very delicious. Considering this Accommodation Fee, it was truly wonderful. Would love to visit again.

    The service was deli...

The service was delivered with a heartfelt smile. The food was all delicious, making me want to visit just to eat. The onsen had an open-air bath with a charming atmosphere, and there were plenty of private baths available. It wasn't crowded, so you could enjoy the baths freely. Although it's an old ryokan, both the room and the bath were clean. There is also a waterfall bath nearby, and you can use it for free with a coin they provide. Just bring 100 yen for the coin locker. When I entered the entrance of this ryokan, I was embarrassed to think, "Is this the highly-rated property?" Next time I come to Kyushu, I will try to squeeze this stays into my itinerary.

I was soothed by the sound of the mountain stream.

The private bath available at any time and the meals were excellent. I think the price range is reasonable.

    Stay after 30 years

I stayed at Shirataki for the first time in about 30 years. Just like the last time I stayed, all the food was very delicious, and there was a family bath with just the right water temperature, allowing for a relaxing experience. It would be perfect if there were rooms with beds. I will visit again soon.
