    飲み歩き一人旅

    It was a relaxing accommodation.

    From the warm welcome to the heartfelt farewell, the hospitality was exceptional. There were families staying on the same day, and it was lovely to see how attentively everyone was cared for. As described beforehand, the building has a historic charm. However, those who are sensitive to older structures might find it less suitable; hence my 4-star rating. Personally, I found the Facility more than adequate and impeccably clean, making my stay very comfortable. As of late October, in addition to air conditioning, heaters were placed throughout the property along with a kotatsu and even hot water bottles—ensuring excellent cold-weather preparation. The bath is small but can be enjoyed almost privately if timed well; it wasn’t too hot and allowed for a relaxing soak. Meals featured local ingredients thoughtfully explained by staff and paired with an excellent selection of sake. The breakfast side dishes were particularly delightful and suited my taste perfectly. Although I stayed alone this time, I would love to return with my family in the future if given another opportunity!

    Retro and Nostalgic Accommodation

    The review rating is very high, which raised my expectations. We were warmly welcomed with a homemade plum juice welcome drink and the hostess's smile. The service staff was also kind and attentive, making the hospitality and service excellent. The meals had a homely feel, but for this type of accommodation, it added a sense of familiarity. However, compared to other accommodations, the facility is quite old (though it was well-cleaned and felt hygienic), and the amenities were not very comprehensive, so I deducted some points. Additionally, unfortunately, I personally found the bath too hot to enter.

    Onsen Stays in a Post Town

    After enjoying the autumn leaves at Shirakoma Pond in Oku-Tateshina, I stayed at the property. It is a small property with onsen featuring natural hot spring water, and the cuisine, including horse sashimi, is carefully prepared using local ingredients, making it a personally satisfying stay. Additionally, it is located between the Akimiya and Harumiya of Suwa Taisha Shimosha, making it a perfect location for strolling around the town of Shimosuwa. The information provided for walking around the town was also very helpful and greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
