    The meals were delicious, and we were able to relax and take our time.

    We were able to spend a relaxing Obon holiday as a family of three. The meals were very delicious, and we also enjoyed taking our time with coffee at The Perch. Since our daughter started working in Osaka, our family has taken a small luxury trip every summer for 2 nights and 3 days somewhere near Osaka. This was our third visit to Arima Onsen, and we were able to truly unwind. The food was especially wonderful, and we look forward to it every time—my husband even said this was the best meal he can remember having here. The Accommodation itself is a charming building that conveys a sense of history, which we really appreciated. We also liked that the bathing area had separate spaces for the bath and the washing area. However, the shower pressure was weak, so we think it would be even better if that could be improved. (Personally, I was disappointed that the open-air bath in our Room was not Onsen water and that the shower water pressure in the Room was weak.) Overall, it was a very memorable stay. Thank you very much for taking care of us for three days.

    Set among trees, it ...

    Set among trees, it is exceptionally quiet despite being close to the station. As many have noted, the building is old and there are many steps and slopes inside. However, it is tastefully maintained and impeccably clean, and the Rooms have gas fan heaters, so we never felt cold even in midwinter. There are two baths; both are very stylish. They are open from 5:00 to 25:00 with separate hours for men and women (switched by time). Perhaps because there are only a few Rooms, they were surprisingly uncrowded. There is a library open until 22:00. It’s quiet with a great atmosphere, and each table has its own reading light—perfect for reading. Note, however, that guests staying in standard Rooms in the new wing cannot use it. The meals are outstanding and change monthly. The duck hot pot and simmered pork dishes were delicious with no odor at all. Even if you’re not usually a fan of duck or pork, I think you’ll still enjoy them. A small detail: there are floor heaters by the windows in the dining area as well (though it can still feel cold there in midwinter). The last breakfast seating is at 9:30. The portions are on the smaller side, but I was surprised by the quality—two kinds of grilled fish first thing in the morning. After breakfast, when you return to your Room the futon is left out so you can go back to sleep if you like. With an 11:00 checkout time, this is very tempting. There are plenty of staff members; all were Japanese and provided pleasant service. Overall, I think this is a highly rated hidden-gem Accommodation.

    The Room was very good.

    We stayed here for a special occasion. The staff were all polite, friendly, and very kind. The Room was clean and functional. However, the Ryokan itself is old, and due to renovations, there were some uneven steps that made walking a bit difficult. The shop was very small and not convenient to use. As for meals, if you have other options, dining outside might be a better choice.
