    There are no particular issues.

    The Facility is quite old, but it is not unclean, and the location is excellent, so there are no major issues. If I had to mention minor points, it is a bit inconvenient that there are no window screens, so you cannot leave the windows open, and that you cannot adjust the air conditioner temperature. The service and meals have always been very good, and I feel the management’s sincere and guest-focused approach comes through.

    A Wonderful Location and Warm Hospitality

    Although we stayed for only one night, we were warmly looked after from the send-off to and from the station, and throughout our stay. Food preferences vary, but both dinner and breakfast were served in satisfying portions. There didn’t seem to be many restaurants around the Accommodation, so we were glad we ate at the Accommodation.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    The Ryokan felt a bit old, but it was very clean and well maintained, which was great. The foreign staff member also spoke Japanese without any issues and was very polite and kind in every way. The staff member who laid out the futons was also very courteous. I was able to relax for the first time in a while with my second son. Thank you very much.

    A wonderful accommodation with panoramic views of Izu Oshima

    With a layout that lets you see the ocean whether you’re sitting in a chair or lying on the bed, you can just relax and zone out for hours. It was also great to be able to take meals in the Room, so we could unwind without worrying about other people. If you care most about the view, this is definitely the place.

    Good value for money.

    I checked the information in advance and was really looking forward to staying on the top floor with in-Room dining. Considering the price, I felt the meals were reasonably well thought out. The Room was cleaned, but it’s hard to deny the building is aging—if you don’t mind that, the ocean is right in front of you... To be honest, I’m not sure how to rate it. However, although the staff are not Japanese, their hard work came through. I usually stay every month in Hakone or Izu with a private Room or in-Room dining and an open-air bath; this time there was no open-air bath attached to the Room, but it was a cypress bath with a design that allowed you to see outside. It was my first time trying that style, and considering the price, it may have been a good choice.

    I was able to relax both mentally and physically.

    It was my first time in a while to enjoy a Japanese Ryokan. From the Room, I could hear the sound of the waves, and I was able to relax so much that I lost track of time. The food was very satisfying, and the bath was excellent. However, perhaps because the attendant was a foreign part-time staff member, they carried my suitcase onto the tatami mats. For Japanese guests, bringing a suitcase onto tatami is unacceptable. If your Ryokan wishes to treat tatami with care, I think it would be better to provide proper training for part-time staff.

    You can feast with your eyes as well as your taste buds.

    I have visited many Onsen accommodations in Izu. The plan we chose was the second lowest, but the meal portions were just right for our age and thoughtfully prepared. The breakfast was also excellent. Great value for money! My wife, who is a big fan of Onsen, seemed very satisfied. A friend of mine who used to work at a travel agency once said that Atagawa-kan is top-class in Izu, and it truly lived up to that reputation. The sunrise over Oshima was mystical, and I found myself gazing at it for a long time. Thank you for your hospitality. Please continue maintaining this quality!

    We did not feel the hospitality.

    I was impressed by the view of the ocean from the room. The meals were good, but I was a bit disappointed with the customer service. Since meals are served in the room, I went to the open-air Onsen in the morning and returned to my room about 5 minutes late for breakfast time. When I said, "I'm a little late," they responded with, "Please finish your meal within 30 minutes." Having stayed at possibly over 100 Onsen Ryokans, this was my first time hearing such a request. When my friends wanted to confirm some information, they received responses without polite language. Since it’s close to the beach, after playing there and returning with some sand on our bags that got onto the table, I cleaned it up but left a little behind. A staff member complained by saying, "This is where you eat." The decorations at this Onsen Ryokan also surprised me—cheap-looking small bottles and marbles gave off an impression of carelessness.

    Atagawa-kan is perfect in summer too!

    I have stayed at Atagawa-kan several times, but this was my first time visiting in summer. The sparkling summer sea from the window was incredibly beautiful. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the room, allowing us to enjoy our meals without worrying about others, which was very appreciated. The Onsen is accessible even at night, so my daughter and I enjoyed it five times. The staff were very polite and efficient in their service. For me, this Ryokan feels like returning to my hometown.

    Comfortable accommodation experience with an ocean view

    The Hotel was impeccably clean and hygienically maintained in every corner. The staff who welcomed us at check-in were warm and friendly, making us feel as comfortable as returning to a friend's home. The view of the ocean from the Room was breathtakingly beautiful, with the sound of waves soothing our hearts. Despite the rain, simply staying in the Room brought an inexplicable sense of brightness and peace. Additionally, their courteous service in Chinese was so kind that it eliminated any language barriers, providing great reassurance. Our stay at this Hotel allowed us to fully relax and enjoy a truly fulfilling time. If we have another chance to visit Izu, we will definitely choose this Hotel again!

    An accommodation that soothes your soul anytime you visit.

    I stayed at the accommodation after a long time. The meals have become more visually appealing and delicious compared to before. The view is oceanfront, and the sound of the waves is soothing, like a lullaby. The large public bath is accessible even at night, which is great for an onsen lover like me. This time, I stayed with my daughter, but during the pandemic when I was struggling with work, I often stayed here alone and was well taken care of. It’s an accommodation where you can feel safe even when traveling solo. Whenever I visit, I always request a massage—it’s very skillful and relaxing. If you’re looking for a trip that offers peace of mind and healing for your soul, Atagawa-kan comes highly recommended!

    I will never go again.

    Only Mr. Nakai from Hokkaido provided good service. The others, foreigners, Chinese? Maybe they are not used to it? Or are they in training? The service was not good. It might be none of my business, but the bath and open-air bath were not bad, so it might be better to renovate the room interior and facilities... Also, I wonder about the amount of food that doesn't fit on the table... For example, maybe a buffet or a breakfast buffet... This might also be none of my business.

    Stayed one night wit...

    Stayed one night with my daughter. Firstly, we were very satisfied with the meal as we both like seafood, and it seemed that they changed our Room to a larger one on the upper floor as there was a vacancy. There were some noticeable signs of aging, but we had a comfortable stay, and the temperature of the open-air bath was good. The morning bath while watching the sunrise was the best. However, if the checkout time were at 11 o'clock, we could have relaxed a bit more. Overall, we are satisfied.

    The scenery is beautiful, but that's all.

    I usually don't write reviews, but this is the first time I've felt so unpleasant at a property, so I decided to write one. When staff enter the room during meals, the room door is left open afterward. I could hear other people's voices from the hallway, and I was very anxious about what to do if someone came in. There was also an instance where a staff member entered using the master key without permission. They said it was because there was no response when they rang the intercom. I was using the restroom just before, so I probably didn't hear it, but it was really scary when someone suddenly came in. The view from the room was wonderful, and it felt like I had the ocean all to myself, which was very nice. However, everything else was a disappointing experience.

    I was able to relax.

    Upon entering the room, the breathtaking view of the ocean spreads out before you, lifting your spirits. Having the ocean right in front of you is truly the best. We stayed on the 5th floor, and the view was excellent. The large public bath is on the 4th floor, and the view was good, so I think any floor would be fine. The meals, especially dinner, were wonderful. Considering the accommodation price, I thought it wouldn't be a luxury ryokan, so I expected ordinary meals, but that was not the case at all. Every dish was luxurious, and the sashimi was delicious and satisfying. There are few properties that offer in-room dining, so that was also as hoped. We used three types of private baths, so we could enjoy the onsen without getting bored. The "Me" bath has a slanted bathtub, making it easy to lean back and relax. The facility has the history of a long-established ryokan, but it is clean and reassuring. The service from the staff was good, and the front desk was pleasant, making our stay very comfortable. It was about a 5-minute walk from Atagawa Station to get there, but on the way back, since it was uphill, we used the shuttle service, which took about 2 minutes? We arrived at the station in no time. I would like to stay at Atagawakan (Atagawa-kan) again when I want to feel the ocean.

    I stayed at Atagawa-kan with a view of Izu Oshima right in front. The luxurious time of soaking in the onsen while watching the sunrise was an irreplaceable moment of bliss. The onsen was very pleasant, and the combination with the sunrise was perfect. From the room, I could work a little while gazing at the beautiful sea spreading out in front of me, allowing me to spend my time efficiently while relaxing. Thanks to the nature-surrounded environment, I was able to rest slowly and refresh both my mind and body. I had my meals in the room, and they were very delicious, enjoyed in a calm atmosphere. I was able to savor them slowly and spent a pleasant time. Overall, it was a wonderful stay. I would love to visit again.
