    I didn’t know it would be closing in early May. The location and the Onsen Room were great, so it’s a shame it’s closing.

    I truly hope this Hotel will continue operating.

    The Onsen is wonderful. The food is also delicious, and the staff’s smiles are truly soothing. This is a Hotel I would definitely like to stay at again, even after this year’s holiday periods. I sincerely hope you will reconsider and find a way—whatever form it takes—to continue operating as “Hotel Hotaka.”

    It's unfortunate that it will be closing despite being a favorite...

    The location, Onsen, meals, and room were all my favorites, so it's very disappointing that it is closing. Especially the spacious Japanese-style room with two sections and an open-air bath was wonderful. I stayed there during the snowy New Year as a farewell visit. Thank you for everything until now.

    Very satisfied

    We stayed for one night in a room with an open-air Onsen bath, along with my wife. The room was spacious, clean, and offered a great view of the snow-covered Hotaka mountain range from the bath. The large public Onsen also featured two types of baths—sulfur spring and simple spring—with slightly warm temperatures and a distinct sulfur aroma that truly made us feel like we were at an Onsen. The meals consisted of a Hida beef course, which was very delicious, satisfying, and plentiful. The location was also convenient as it is very close to the ropeway station. Thank you for your hospitality!

    White rice is included for both dinner and breakfast!

    The rice was hard and dry, possibly due to incorrect cooking. It should have been delicious with normal preparation, but unfortunately, it wasn't. Everything else was great though!

    A Year Since Our Last Visit to Hotaka

    I stayed here again after a year for an autumn foliage walk in Hida Hotaka. The twin room was well-cleaned, and the bedding was comfortable, allowing for a pleasant stay. Dinner was kaiseki cuisine, and the staff kindly interacted with us during the meal. My wife and our two mascots (plush toys) were delighted and enjoyed the delicious food. The bath facilities included a large public bath and an open-air bath, both of which provided a relaxing experience. On the second day, when the weather cleared up, we took the ropeway next to the Hotel and enjoyed breathtaking views of the snow-capped Hotaka mountain range. It seems that operations will end in May next year; however, I hope for an early reopening. Thank you, Hotel Hotaka!

    It was a highly satisfying trip.

    It was my first time visiting the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway. Hotel Hodaka exceeded my expectations. As Onsen lovers, we enjoyed the abundant hot spring water and were able to relax in the Onsen multiple times. The room was spacious, and the view from the room was fantastic. The ropeway is very close, and there’s also a bus stop right in front of the hotel. I would love to visit again. Thank you so much!

    The Onsen was excellent.

    I made a reservation to see Mt. Yari, and the location was great as it was close to the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway station and bus stop. The weather was good on the day, and I could see Mt. Yari without any issues (I stayed without climbing). The meals and onsen were excellent, especially the onsen which was incredibly relaxing. (It's unfortunate that it will close next year.)

    It was a great Onsen.

    It was disappointing that the front desk could not address the issue of someone using a mobile phone in the open-air bath, as they mentioned it was impossible without catching them in the act. The thought of possibly being captured in photos made me uncomfortable. The air conditioning was weak, making it humid and stuffy. Although a fan was provided in the Room, I couldn't use it effectively and had trouble sleeping well.

    Both the Onsen and the cuisine were satisfying.

    This was my first stay, and as an onsen enthusiast, I was really looking forward to the onsen. There were two types of spring water, and although the water was quite hot, I was very satisfied. The meals were made with local ingredients and were absolutely delicious. I heard that the accommodation will close next year, which is very disappointing. If I have another chance before then, I would love to visit again.

    It was excellent!

    The bath was spacious, and the Onsen quality was excellent. The amenities were also well-equipped. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were very delicious, incorporating local ingredients with wonderful presentation and taste. It is conveniently located near the ropeway. I would love to stay here again! Completely satisfied.

    Family Summer Vacation

    I booked this accommodation because of its high review ratings, but I was a bit worried it might be extremely old since it's closing next year. However, the wallpaper and other features had been renewed, giving it a clean and fresh feel, so the age didn’t bother me at all. The welcome drink, post-meal coffee, and ice cream after bathing were all very satisfying. That said, I wish there were towels available in the bath area to use freely (as I prefer using a new towel each time I bathe). The onsen was just as amazing as described in reviews. The abundant flow of hot spring water (even flowing underfoot) surrounded by mountains made me feel like staying there forever. The location is excellent—surrounded by nature with mountains all around—and being right next to the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway allowed us to ride early in the morning. On our way back during Obon season, we even had the ropeway entirely to ourselves as a family! When searching for accommodations in this area, we considered pricier options located more centrally in town but are truly glad we chose this place instead. Even my child said, "What? It's such a waste for them to close! Why?" As for meals, every dish was thoughtfully prepared with care; nothing felt bland or unimportant. You could tell they put effort into everything they served. Thank you for giving us such wonderful summer memories!

    A relaxing accommodation where you can enjoy the great outdoors and sulfur hot springs.

    Stayed here while visiting the Okuhida Bear Park and Shin-Hotaka Ropeway. The hotel is just a 1-minute walk from the ropeway station, making it incredibly convenient to access. I chose this accommodation because I love sulfur hot springs, and having a private open-air onsen with sulfur water in the room was absolutely amazing! Being able to enjoy the onsen at any time in my room felt truly luxurious. The large public bath offers two types of hot springs: sulfur spring and simple spring. Relaxing in the onsen while listening to mountain breezes, river sounds, birdsong, and cicadas was pure bliss. The water quality was excellent with plenty of mineral deposits floating around! It felt so good that I ended up using the public bath four times during my stay (laughs). The room was reasonably priced, clean, and comfortable. Having air conditioning in a room with a private sulfur onsen is rare but made it very pleasant even during warmer seasons. Meals were modest but homey and delicious for their price point—comforting flavors that felt like home cooking. While I found dinner portions slightly small, I was satisfied with the taste overall. What saddened me most is hearing that they will close operations next May—it’s such a loss! I’d love to stay here again before then or visit during another season at this wonderful accommodation!

    We will miss you dearly.

    I have stayed at countless accommodations in Okuhida Onsen, but this was my first time at this hotel. The location is simply outstanding. The onsen offers views of Mt. Kasagatake and Midori no Kasa, with two types of spring water to fully enjoy the essence of onsen. My room had an open-air bath, and the view from there was also spectacular. Although I believe the water is diluted, the pleasant sulfur scent lingers on your skin. Being deep in the mountains, I didn’t have high expectations for meals, but every dish was thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious. It seems that this accommodation will close next year; I’m sure they considered rebuilding here extensively but faced challenges given today’s circumstances. I hope to visit again someday.

    A shooting star was spotted!

    From the Room's terrace, you can enjoy a clear view of the stars and even spot shooting stars. The Hotel is conveniently located next to the ropeway station, allowing easy access by parking at the Hotel's lot. The staff were kind and helpful, making it a Hotel I would love to stay at again if given the chance. Thank you very much!

    It was excellent!

    This time, enjoy a stay in the DX Twin Room with a special commemorative ropeway ticket and lunch included! A truly great value. Hotel Hotaka is renowned for its soothing sulfur-scented Onsen and delicious meals. Located right next to the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway, the location is perfect. Take a short drive to Okuhida Bear Park for a baby bear cuddling photo session! Once again, I felt completely rejuvenated and refreshed. Thank you very much!

    The Onsen was amazing!

    Due to the ropeway being out of service, our Room was upgraded. The Onsen offers two types with natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source, available for use freely from arrival until 9 AM the next morning. There are also two spacious open-air baths at a perfect temperature for a relaxing soak while enjoying the view. The meals were diverse and delicious, including Hida beef. Additionally, there was a wide selection of Hida sake, and we enjoyed the "Hida's Famous Sake Tasting Set" as a family. The toothbrush in the amenities was easy to use, and I was delighted to find a Snow Skin Essence set included as well. I would love to visit again!

    It was relaxing and comfortable.

    During my stay, I felt relaxed and at ease. Both the Onsen and meals were highly satisfying. Being able to enjoy the Onsen even at night was a great experience. The meals were delicious, and I fully enjoyed them in a quiet atmosphere. Although the weather was bad and the view from the window wasn't great, it was a very comfortable Hotel. I would love to visit again!

    It was excellent.

    The staff were all very pleasant. Despite being an old building, it was exceptionally clean, with every corner thoroughly maintained—truly impressive. However, I was a bit disappointed that the coffee pot was empty when I wanted a refill after breakfast, possibly because we had breakfast later than usual. Breakfast is available from 7:00 to 8:00 AM, and the bath is open until 9:00 AM in the morning. It would be nice if both were extended by 30 minutes so guests could relax until check-out time.

    Everything except the parking staff was excellent.

    When parking in the second parking lot, the staff's guidance was in a commanding tone. I was taken aback. It's unfortunate because the other staff members were excellent.

    Staying as an elderly couple

    I enjoyed bathing in the Onsen three times: at dusk, at night, and at sunrise. The atmosphere of the Onsen and the view from the open-air bath were different at each time, and it felt like my heart was cleansed. The meals were delicious, and I also enjoyed the sake from Hida. I had a wonderful time and felt very happy.

    It was delicious.

    The food was very delicious. The open-air bath in the room was also excellent once you got into the water. However, it was naturally cold before entering, so it required some courage. The weather was nice on the day of our stay, and we were able to enjoy the wonderful scenery from the ropeway we used from the station right next door, so overall it was a 5-star experience.

    Stayed for the first...

    Stayed for the first time. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The Hida beef, grilled ayu, and hoba miso were also excellent. The property was clean, and the onsen was particularly good. The proximity to the ropeway station was very convenient. I would love to visit again. Also, the weather was perfect, and I was very satisfied.

    I chose this Hotel b...

    I chose this Hotel because the ropeway is right nearby. It was convenient and the view was excellent. The meals were satisfying, but I thought the portions might have been a bit too much for the elderly. The staff were polite and kind, but when explaining the meals, it might be better to speak a bit more slowly and clearly for the elderly, especially the female staff. The stairs were a bit confusing, and I ended up at a dead end while trying to walk down for exercise. Thank you for your hospitality.

    It was really great.

    The room was nice and the amenities were well-prepared. While we were out for dinner, they prepared the futon for us. In the bath, besides shampoo and conditioner, there were facial peels and masks, and the open-air bath had a charming stone bath, spacious and clean. The onsen was great both outside and inside. Also, the dinner was wonderful with a variety of dishes including sweetfish and marbled Hida beef, all elaborate and delicious. I would want to stay again just for the meals. Breakfast was also delicious. It's right next to the ropeway, making it easy for sightseeing. We came by car, and it was convenient to use the parking lot even after checkout. The hotel staff were attentive and provided excellent hospitality. It was a trip with two elementary school children, making it a wonderful memory. There were many elderly guests, but we saw two other families with children. There was about one group of foreigners. We were able to spend our time leisurely and elegantly, thank you. We booked a stay plan with a ropeway ticket, which was a great deal and highly recommended. It also came with a 1000 yen shopping voucher, which we used on the ropeway.

    It is conveniently located next to the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway station. This time, it was also the day of the stargazing event, and we were lucky to be able to see the stars. The staff's customer service manners were good, and we had a pleasant stay.

    Only the hot spring is excellent.

    I have visited many hot springs before, but this place truly had the best water. The temperature was just right, and it made my skin smooth, allowing me to stay in for a long time. However, the food was not tasty. Neither the rice nor the miso soup was good. Most of the servers were foreigners, and it seemed difficult for them to understand the language, making communication challenging. It's a shame because the hot spring is great.

    A stay after decades

    I visited before during the cold season and enjoyed the snowy scenery from the open-air bath, the two types of hot springs, and the delicious food, so I went again with high expectations. I was satisfied with both the hot springs and the food, but it was a bit disappointing that they were time-limited. I was impressed that there was free ice cream available after the bath. I would like to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for taking care of us.

    The bath was nice.

    The room was cleaner than I expected. The plumbing also seems to have been renovated. The large public bath was spacious, and the hot spring was very nice. To be honest, the food wasn't delicious, and I think it would be better if the serving staff had more consistency in their service. They came to clear the small plates multiple times, and two people cleared plates from both sides, etc. I was also bothered by the sound of staff dragging their feet on the floor. I don't expect much because the price is cheap, but I think it would be better if they established the basics of minimum service.

    The bath is excellent.

    It might be inevitable due to its large size, but I believe there are cost-free ways to offer hospitality, like McDonald's offering a smile for 100 yen. With some ingenuity, it could become an excellent hotel. Unfortunately, the location is also superb, so I will use it again. I look forward to a price increase and renovation!
