    It was wonderful.

This was my first visit. Above all, the open-air bath with its wonderful sense of openness surrounded by beautiful nature, and the atmosphere throughout the property, were truly lovely. I would definitely like to return in a different season. I was very satisfied.

    Thank you very much.

This was my fourth stay. When the bus I planned to take was delayed, you kindly accommodated changes to the Shuttle Service, for which I am truly grateful. As always, staying at the snow-covered Onsen warmed both my body and soul.

I was amazed by the accommodation where snow piled up several tens of centimeters. Since I don't usually see snow, I was quite anxious, but it was wonderful. The staff's service was excellent, the food was very delicious, and I appreciated the coffee. However, when I tried to sleep, I was shocked to find countless bugs inside the ceiling light. It made it hard to relax or sleep peacefully. The large open-air bath was fantastic but lukewarm; with a snowstorm outside, we couldn't stay long. The indoor bath's washing area was also extremely cold—my husband started feeling chills before bed and developed a fever during the night. It had been a long-awaited trip for us, but unfortunately, there were many disappointments.

Is this Japan? Many foreigners are highly satisfied with our open-air baths.

Located deep in the mountains, this place is truly wonderful. The multiple open-air baths were a bit far from our room, but that added to the charm. On the day we visited, most of the guests were foreigners. Everyone we met at the open-air baths was also from abroad. During meals, all 25 groups in the dining area were foreigners (mostly Westerners), enjoying Japanese cuisine. We were the only Japanese guests, which made it feel like we were in another country. The food was delicious with a variety of options, leaving us very satisfied. The open-air baths are mixed-gender, but bathing suits are provided, and couples seemed to enjoy the experience together. It was a unique scene, and we even exchanged words with others who all seemed to be having a great time. The autumn leaves had just started to change color—perhaps more Japanese visitors will come later in the season? We were able to relax and fully enjoy the open-air baths. We plan to visit again.

The room is basic, but the Onsen is excellent.

The open-air bath, said to be the largest in Japan, was breathtaking. I used it three times during my stay. Bathing at night after day visitors leave or early in the morning is recommended as there are almost no bugs during these times. There were many foreign staff members, but they all greeted us warmly and left a very good impression. Breakfast was average, but dinner was luxurious and delicious, featuring dishes like eel. It takes about an hour by Shinkansen from Tokyo to Jomo-Kogen Station, and there is a shuttle service from there, making access convenient. Having stayed at 20-30 hotels so far, this accommodation's room was by far the worst I've experienced. Despite booking a slightly more expensive room under the main building guarantee plan, the room—especially the toilet—had an unpleasant odor reminiscent of body odor. The structure seemed poorly maintained; I struggled for about 10 minutes to lock the door from inside on one occasion. It reminded me of old dormitories used for school club training camps but even worse than those accommodations. I was shocked and speechless upon entering the room. There wasn't much explanation about the open-air bath facilities; it was hard to find areas like changing rooms, leaving some foreign guests confused. Better guidance would be appreciated. I don't plan on returning anytime soon; however, everything besides the room was excellent. If I feel like enjoying a good onsen again in the future, I might consider coming back despite my reservations about staying here again due to its rooms.

    Open-air Bath

I got bitten by a horsefly. It's itchy now. Using insect repellent might help reduce them a bit.

The yukata was difficult to wear. It would have been nice to have pajama-like pants available. Including Western-style dishes in the meals would be appreciated. Dishes using fruits would also be a great addition.

    Overall, terrible.

The snow was still lingering, and the feeling of venturing deeper into the mountains was very exciting. Many of the staff and guests were foreigners, and I was looking forward to the open-air bath. However, the floor was soaking wet, and seeing people enter without rinsing their bodies made me hesitant to use it. Even if I had entered, it seemed too cold for this season, so I moved to the indoor bath instead. The changing room there was also wet, with soaked towels placed in wicker baskets. It wasn’t surprising to see guests with tattoos as well. During my stay, I didn’t see any cleaning being done inside the facility at all. The meals were quite unique but overall didn’t suit my taste. While the location seemed beautiful and promising, it felt like a ryokan entirely catered towards foreign visitors.

    It was a good inn.

I didn't have high expectations because it's an old building, but the rooms were clean and well-maintained, allowing for a comfortable stay. The food was delicious and very satisfying. The large open-air bath was pleasant, and I was able to enjoy it multiple times. It has become an inn I would like to visit again.
