    A Relaxing Accommodation Where You Can Unwind

    This was my first time visiting Zao Onsen. After considering several Onsen Accommodations, I chose a smaller Accommodation where I could truly relax. As I headed from Kaminoyama toward Zao, the temperature dropped, and after riding my motorcycle in the intense heat, the cool breeze felt wonderful. The Accommodation is an older building, but it was filled with many charming decorations that made me feel warm inside. The indoor Onsen was artificial, but it was pleasant and available 24 hours a day. Outside, in a separate building, there was a free-flowing hot spring bath fed directly from the source; it was strongly acidic and at a comfortable temperature, making it very enjoyable. Dinner dishes were all carefully prepared and included many local specialties from Yamagata Prefecture. It was great that each dish came with an explanation when served. The steamed dish in particular was outstanding. Breakfast also offered a wide variety of items, and I was very satisfied. All of the staff were kind and greeted us properly—I could really feel their hospitality. This is an Accommodation I would like to visit again.

    Shall we book a Multiple Night Stay next time?

    In a very quiet mountain setting, we were able to relax both body and mind. As an elderly couple, having the Onsen outdoors required a bit of walking and was slightly tiring, but the water was excellent. The meals were delicious, and we finished everything. The service was also very attentive, and we had a truly comfortable stay. Next time, we would definitely like to book a Multiple Night Stay and explore the surrounding area more thoroughly.

    It was excellent.

    I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days, and the attentive care of all the staff made my stay very pleasant. The natural Onsen bath in the detached area took some time to get used to its heat, but once I did, it felt wonderful and kept my body warm for a long time.

    The service was excellent.

    The facility had a nostalgic Showa-era charm throughout. While it wasn't a major issue, it would have been nice to have an air conditioner in the room as it was still warm even with the windows open. Additionally, the TV was about 19 inches, and a larger size of around 40 inches might be easier to watch. The excellent hospitality more than made up for the facility's age. From arrival to departure, we were warmly welcomed and treated with great care. There was also an open-air hot spring outside the facility with natural flowing water that warmed us to the core and left us very satisfied. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and satisfying, with detailed explanations for each dish, which we appreciated greatly. It was also delightful that local ingredients were used in the dishes provided. Overall, everyone working there put their heart into providing exceptional service, making this accommodation truly wonderful. We would love to visit again when we return to Yamagata!

    Ski Trip

    I stayed for a 1-night, 2-day ski trip. After arriving at the nearest station, I called the accommodation, and they kindly came to pick me up right away. At the entrance, I was served zenzai and tea, which was a delightful treat for my chilled body. They also shared information about the frost-covered trees, and above all, I was amazed by the excellent snow quality of Zao. The interior had a nostalgic and warm atmosphere that made it very comfortable. The staff's attentiveness was evident, allowing me to fully enjoy my stay even in just 1 night and 2 days. The meals were luxurious with various dishes made from Yamagata ingredients. During dinner, the hostess personally greeted each table—a thoughtful gesture that left a lasting impression. This is an accommodation I would love to visit again when traveling to Zao. The outdoor onsen had strongly acidic water that felt truly effective!

    Zao Onsen & Ski & Juhyo

    We stayed for two nights with the purpose of enjoying the Zao Onsen, skiing, and viewing the snow monsters. The ski slopes are within walking distance. The onsen has both indoor and outdoor baths, both of which were comfortable. We were served different dishes for dinner on both days. The sukiyaki with Yamagata beef on the second day was especially delicious. The price was high due to the season, but overall, we were satisfied.
