Relax and unwind at a long-established Ryokan full of atmosphere

We stayed here for our honeymoon. I had long wanted to visit because I heard it was a filming location for a movie, and I was thrilled we could stay here. The train ride and scenery on the way to Kibune were wonderfully atmospheric, and if you request it from the nearest station, they will pick you up. Both inside and outside, Fujiya looked exactly like it did in the movie, which personally made me incredibly excited. Since it is an old Ryokan, there were a few things that bothered us—some parts were inconvenient to use, and there were no window screens, so when we opened the windows a lot of insects came in. Kifune Shrine is right across the street, and visiting in the morning and at night felt completely different each time and was very enjoyable. As it was early summer, we had river fish cuisine on kawadoko dining by the river, and everything was delicious. The proprietress was polite, but she had a slightly “Kyoto-style” reserved vibe that made me feel a little intimidated (in a funny way). The staff members such as the attendants were courteous. It’s definitely a wonderful Accommodation—so much so that I’d love to bring my parents next time.

    The meals were delicious.

Shuttle service to Kibuneguchi is available, and the staff were very kind, making our stay enjoyable. Unfortunately, due to concerns about rain, we couldn't dine on the riverside platform, but meals were served in private rooms with air conditioning and a view of the river, which was very comfortable. Fujiyasan offers accommodation and is conveniently located in front of Kifune Shrine, making it great for sightseeing as well. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. The view from the room must be stunning during autumn foliage season. This time we stayed in the Momiji Room, which had a separate toilet, bath, and sink. Although their website mentioned some rooms might not have hair dryers, there was one available in the Momiji Room. The large communal bath was clean and well-maintained for a pleasant experience. I would love to visit again someday! Thank you very much!

    Summer Atmosphere

We stayed here as a three-generation family to create summer memories in Kibune. While the surrounding area was very crowded with tourists, staying at the accommodation allowed us to take our time and enjoy the atmosphere, such as dining on the riverside platform at night and visiting the shrine before breakfast. The shuttle service was also greatly appreciated. Thanks to this, it became a trip full of charm and emotion.

    Kawadoko Dining

First Trip to Kibune We left our luggage at Kurama Station and crossed the mountain from Kurama to Kibune. We chose this accommodation because it was conveniently located near the exit of Kibune. Dinner was kawadoko cuisine; although it was cold, they provided lap blankets, and both the dishes and tableware were beautiful, making us very satisfied. We also got to see the light-up at Kifune Shrine. Thank you very much!

    A very relaxing traditional Stays

First of all, the location is excellent. The building, constructed along the atmospheric Kibune River, allows you to fully experience its charm. I stayed in December, and although the historic building is not well-insulated, there were heaters placed throughout, which was appreciated. The Onsen features two indoor baths, one with a rock bath and sauna, which switch between men and women in the morning and evening, allowing guests to enjoy both. Dinner is served in a separate private room, providing a very relaxing atmosphere. Each dish was carefully explained, enhancing the dining experience. The content was, needless to say, superb, truly embodying Kyoto! Japanese cuisine! The elaborate presentation was visually pleasing, and the use of local ingredients and traditional techniques made each dish feel like tasting early winter in Kyoto itself. They responded graciously to our mistakes, and the heartfelt hospitality left us with unforgettable travel memories. If given the opportunity, I would love to visit again in a season where we can feel the coolness. Thank you for your hospitality. Thank you very much.

Everyone, please be sure to visit.

I was able to stay leisurely as it was before the autumn leaves season. First of all, the food is outstanding. The staff brought each dish from a kitchen separate from the inn, and their service was pleasant. The bath was clean, and I was happy to find a sauna as well. Kifune Shrine is right in front, and I was able to experience the nighttime illumination. The shuttle service is also kind. I would like to visit during the autumn leaves season.
