An Accommodation that lives up to its reputation
It was a wonderful Accommodation, just as the reviews said! We chose a Room with an open-air bath and enjoyed it again and again. The meals were so generous we couldn’t finish them all, and the quality was excellent—everything from the sashimi to the vegetables and meat was truly delicious. We were also delighted to try sea urchin that the proprietress had gathered for us—absolutely satisfying! Their original enzyme shochu mix was so good that even family members who don’t usually drink shochu ended up having several glasses (laugh). Next time, we’d love to try every variety! The pudding made with the Accommodation’s eggs was also outstanding. The staff member who served our meals was cheerful, energetic, and very pleasant. There is a Ryujin shrine outside and a Ryujin hanging scroll inside, making it a truly sacred-feeling Room. It would be perfect if this Room had beds, and if there were a roof over the open-air bath and washing area—please consider renovating! We will definitely visit again. Thank you for taking such great care of us!

Wonderful staff
We truly enjoyed the driver’s thoughtful stops and introductions to Saruiwa sightseeing, the beautiful scenery, and Yusuke the horse. The many delicious dishes—beautiful even to the chef’s eye—were splendid, including uni in the shell and abalone. The lovely staff who served our meals and guided us were wonderful; their cheerful conversation and impressive strength in carrying two suitcases were remarkable. We will definitely visit again. Thank you very much.

This is the best Ryokan.
This is the most satisfying Ryokan I have ever stayed at. The hospitality was beyond anything I could have imagined. The owner, the proprietress, and all the staff were wonderful people, and their warmth truly touched my heart. The meals, centered on seafood, featured outstanding ingredients and careful preparation—I was completely satisfied. What deserves special mention is the owner’s 100% buckwheat handmade soba: its aroma and smoothness were exceptional. I live in a prefecture known as a soba mecca, but I have never had soba better than this. Even the breakfast vegetables were all pesticide-free and homegrown, made with real care. The Onsen water was a reddish cloudy spring that felt gentle on the skin and relieved my fatigue. The building has a dignified presence with a sense of history. In every way it was outstanding—an Accommodation that makes you want to return again soon.

The meals were delicious and the Onsen was wonderful, just as we had heard. Local residents also came for day-use bathing, and it was fun chatting with them.

A must-visit when you come to Iki.
If you love food and want to truly enjoy dining, this is the place for you! Every dish in the kaiseki course was delicious, with a great variety and very satisfying portions. The breakfast, the Onsen, and the warm hospitality from the proprietress and staff were all flawless. Even though we usually try a different Ryokan next time no matter how good it is, this is one we’d gladly return to whenever we visit Iki—an absolutely satisfying stay!

For an island getaway, visit Iki Island and stay at an exceptional accommodation.
The natural flowing Onsen features a red, cloudy bath, and soaking while admiring the painted cloud whale and mermaid in the indoor bath is truly soothing. For dinner and breakfast, you will be treated to exquisite creative dishes made with fish freshly caught by the owner himself, homegrown vegetables, free-range chicken eggs, and other blessings of Iki Island. Both your taste buds and eyes will be utterly delighted. Even though we chose a smaller course, we were completely full midway through. The advice that leftovers would be used as fertilizer or chicken feed eased our guilt slightly; however, I regretted my small appetite when my companion who finished everything said it was incredibly delicious. This Ryokan is the first I've encountered that is so dedicated to using only local produce, homegrown ingredients, handmade items, and every blessing of life to its fullest extent. Staying at this Ryokan allowed me to feel gratitude for Iki's nature while appreciating their commitment to being part of its cycle in a sustainable way—it was truly fulfilling. Every staff member here was kind and warm-hearted; their exceptional hospitality in various moments still brings back fond memories even now.

The cuisine is truly impressive!

Cuisine Ryokan
Many of the vegetables are homegrown, offering a fresh and pure taste. The sashimi selection was abundant, with generous portions that left us completely satisfied. When the hostess came to greet us, she kindly provided advice for sightseeing the next day, which was very helpful. We are extremely satisfied with our stay.

It was delicious.
I was drawn by the reviews and made a reservation. The meals were truly amazing. The variety of sashimi, the way the fish was prepared, and its freshness stood out. Not only was there plenty to eat, but every dish was incredibly delicious. The live squid sashimi reminded me how good squid can taste after a long time. The dishes other than sashimi were also delightful, and the rich pudding dessert was excellent. Despite the generous portions and variety of food, it never felt overwhelming, making me want to visit this accommodation again. This trip was inspired by Iki's history, but thanks to Hirayama Ryokan's cuisine, it turned into an exceptionally enjoyable journey. Thank you very much!

It was a trip with my parents, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The room was lovely, and the Onsen and meals were excellent! The hostess thoughtfully planned the order and timing of our visits, allowing us to see everything we wanted. The additional recommendations she provided were also fantastic. It was an amazing experience.
I was deeply impressed by the natural beauty of Iki Island on my first visit. The stay at Hirayama Ryokan was exceptional with outstanding service, delicious meals, and a wonderful Onsen. This is exactly what a Ryokan feels like.
This is a property overflowing with hospitality. It was my first time visiting, and they recommended various places to visit the next day. You can't easily reach places like Ryujin Shrine. As for the meals, the food is truly delicious. Not only the fish but also the vegetables are tasty, with a lot of care put into them. Even the regular portions are large, but I requested extra, and they served a lot of fish. Personally, I found the yellowtail and sea bream to be delicious. The bath is a salt spring with brown water, directly from the source. It's a great property, and everyone working there is wonderful. It's a cozy and nice property. Since it's on a remote island, it's not easy to get there even though it's only an hour from Fukuoka, but it's a property I'd like to visit again.

It was a wonderful time.
Thank you very much for taking care of us during our stay with my friend! We stayed in the "Tsuki no Ma." We were welcomed with "Zenzai" hospitality. The plumply cooked azuki beans and everyone's smiles melted our hearts. Every meal was truly delicious. The seasoning was, of course, wonderful, but the energy of each ingredient was amazing. The vegetables felt alive, and I gained energy from them. The raw egg and tofu at breakfast were exquisite and unforgettable. I was deeply moved. One suggestion about the meals: I tend to forget the names of the various sashimi fish, so it would be great if they could be made clear. (After all, the food was delicious, the sake flowed, and I got a bit tipsy... lol) For us who had no plan, the landlady's smart travel suggestions were truly appreciated. Her conversation was perfect, the sense of distance was comfortable, and she was a very pleasant person to talk to. The onsen was perfect... smooth and refreshing for the body. After visiting the property, I sent a photo to a friend, and they said, "You look so refreshed, like some evil feeling has disappeared." (lol) In the "Tsuki no Ma," where the Dragon God resides, the room was filled with energy, and I could even hear the voice of the Dragon God. As someone who wishes to change the flow of my work, I was encouraged to borrow this power and work hard from today, for which I am very grateful. A room filled with divine energy, a wonderful landlady, wonderful staff, and delicious meals—all made me happy, and I definitely want to come back again! Thank you very much for everything this time!

I was shown that this is the kind of hospitality that puts the customer first.
First of all, I received unbelievable kindness! I couldn't rent the usual car from the usual rental car company, and it turned out after starting the drive that the car couldn't be charged from a USB cable. I had many destinations to visit, so I had no choice but to go to the inn early and complained while asking for the location of an electronics store. To my surprise, during my meal, they bought a mobile battery for me, saving me the trouble of finding an electronics store. I am truly impressed by the incredible hospitality of the owner and the hostess. Since I had to go to the inn early, the owner advised me, "If you're going anyway, you should go to Monkey Rock and watch the sunset." Following his advice, I charged my phone a bit in the room and went out again, allowing me to complete the day's itinerary as planned and giving me the unexpected opportunity to witness the sunset. I am just so grateful! Thank you very much! I thoroughly enjoyed the hot springs and meals. However, as someone with leg and back issues, I would have preferred a bed instead of a futon, which is a selfish request.

A hotel with overflowing hospitality, gourmet cuisine, and hot springs.
Our flight from Nagasaki to Iki was unexpectedly canceled due to maintenance issues. We rushed by taxi to Karatsu and caught the ferry. We were scheduled to arrive at Iki port after 8 PM. Despite the late hour, the inn graciously served us their renowned dinner. The seafood was impeccable, and the red sea urchin moved when touched. The squid was sweet, and the fried squid was delicious on its own, but even more so with the abalone liver sauce. What surprised me was the deliciousness of the vegetables, which were grown in Hirayama Inn's garden. The dessert pudding and the egg over rice for breakfast were made with eggs from free-range healthy chickens, and they were also delicious. The Isshu tofu was freshly made. Could I finish the hearty breakfast? As if reading my mind, the landlady kindly handwrote a sightseeing plan to make sure I'd be hungry before breakfast. We visited Kojima Shrine, which can only be accessed at low tide, and Ryujin Shrine, where dragons from all over the country gather. Fully charged with sacred power from the morning, I finished the breakfast with ease. The bath facilities include a family bath, an open-air bath, and an indoor bath, all of which are pleasant. The hot spring water flows directly from the source, rich in iron that turns the towels red. It tasted salty. Remarkably, even after checking out, we were told that if we returned from swimming, the day-use hot spring would be free for guests. This time, we stayed in the most affordable "Bird" room. With the hot springs, meals, and sightseeing, we only used the room for sleeping, which was sufficient. Oh! We also enjoyed Iki's craft beers, Golden Ale and IPA, and three types of Iki sake, Yokoyama, during meals and after baths. It's a paradise for drink lovers. The smiles and warm hospitality of the landlady and all the staff touched my heart! We plan to revisit in October. For those who want to indulge in delicious food, enjoy fine drinks, soak in hot springs, and relieve daily fatigue, Hirayama Inn is highly recommended.
