    A Nostalgic Yet New Accommodation

More than 50 years ago, I stayed at “Misenkan” on an elementary school camp. When I learned that an Accommodation with the same name still exists in the very same place, I stayed there with one of my classmates from back then. Staying there while thinking, “This is it—this is it,” was such a wonderful time. The building has been stylishly renovated, and in a good way there is no trace of the past. And the food was outstanding! Each dish was prepared with great care, and it left me feeling truly fulfilled. When we told the owner and his family that we had visited long ago on a school camp, they were delighted. Enjoying Tenkawa Village’s fresh air and delicious water like a child again refreshed my memories and created new ones. Next time, I would love to stay at “Misenkan” again with my family. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    This was my first st...

This was my first stay. Due to the location, there are many stairs, and I almost got lost for a moment. The meals are simple, and you can enjoy local specialties. I set the temperature when filling the bath, but it was slow to warm up at first. The ice cream served at dinner was delicious.

    A Comfortable Accommodation

It was a very pleasant Accommodation. It was close to the bus stop, the meals were delicious, and the sound of the river from our Room was soothing, so we were able to relax. They kindly provided Shuttle Service to Tenkawa Shrine twice (during the day and for the morning service), which was a great help for us since we didn’t have a car. Next time, we would like to visit in a different season for a Multiple Night Stay.

    A Heartwarming Accommodation

Although this was a trip to Dorogawa Onsen, we chose Misenkan near the Tenkawa-Kawai bus stop instead of staying in Dorogawa Onsen itself. We thoroughly enjoyed the homemade dishes, including river fish and wild boar. The staff were wonderful, making it an unforgettable trip.

    Accommodation in Tenkawa Village

I’d been very curious about this place for a long time and finally got to visit. The Accommodation is very new and clean. However, the open-air bath I was looking forward to— including the private one—was shallow, perhaps due to the bathtub design, so it was hard to warm up. Because it was extremely cold, the water also took a long time to reach a comfortable temperature, and I ended up feeling cold and disappointed. Also, this seems to be the off-season, so many nearby shops were closed and the area felt quiet, which was also disappointing. The meals were unique and enjoyable, but since there were two kinds of river fish dishes, it felt a bit unbalanced. That said, the rice was so good that it may have been the best I’ve ever had. For an Accommodation with an open-air bath, I think it offers excellent value for money, but personally I don’t think it’s suited for winter.

    First Visit to Tenkawa Village

Thank you for hosting my wife and me recently. The Room was clean, and the bath offered an amazing sense of openness. We used it three times—day, night, and morning—and it was wonderful at any time. The meals were excellent. As mentioned in other Reviews, the rice was delicious. The fried Ayu somen, grilled Amago with salt, pickles, yuzu pepper as a condiment, and the gelato dessert were all delightful. My wife especially enjoyed the lotus root dumpling. We had a hearty breakfast that left us full in the morning as well. We had a very special experience being taken to Tenkawa Daibenzaiten Shrine early in the morning and appreciated your detailed explanations during our visit—I wish I had studied more beforehand! My wife's goal for this trip was to try Tenkara Gelato; thank you so much for accommodating us despite your busy schedule. Next time we visit, we’ll try another flavor if available. We look forward to visiting again!

An accommodation that lets you feel the kindness and warmth of Japanese hospitality.

I stayed with my daughter at the accommodation. We arrived a bit early and were allowed to leave our luggage before planning to visit Tenkawa Shrine according to the bus schedule. However, thanks to the kind hospitality of the hostess, she offered us a ride both ways, which deeply moved us. Thanks to her generosity, we were able to take our time visiting the shrine without worrying about bus schedules. The dinner room was lovely, and we enjoyed heartfelt local dishes. The sweetfish wrapped in somen noodles and fried was especially delicious. The warm hospitality of everyone truly healed both our hearts and bodies.

    The meals are excellent!!

The room was clean and cozy, with a kotatsu that made the stay warm and relaxing. Dinner was served in a lovely room with a great atmosphere. Every dish, made with local ingredients, was exquisite. The gelato dessert was also delicious. I would love to stay at this accommodation again!

I might have expected too much...

First of all, upon arrival in sub-zero temperatures, the entrance was cold. The host explained various things near the entrance before the meal, but it was so cold that I couldn't focus on the conversation... Each dish was very delicious, but there were so few that I couldn't tell which was the main dish... I had requested an additional dish of bucket tofu, but I wondered about having cold tofu in this season... I naturally thought it would be yudofu, so I was surprised by the cold water when I touched it. However, there was a lot of rice, and it was delicious, giving a sense of being satisfied with white rice. Even after pressing the chime three times, there was no response both at night and in the morning, which was something unheard of elsewhere... The room had a kotatsu, and electric blankets were laid on the futon, with fan heaters installed here and there, making it very warm and allowing me to spend time like at home, but I was bothered by the sound of children running at night. The bath was made of slippery ceramics, and when it touched the skin, it was too cold, making it unsuitable for an open-air bath. Also, unfortunately, there was a little residue left in the bathtub, so I washed it again before filling it with water... But even though it wasn't an Onsen, the water quality was soft water, making the skin smooth, which was very nice! I also drank the recommended water, and it was indeed very delicious.

    Solo Travel

I found a room with an open-air bath near Tenkawa Village, a place I had always wanted to visit, where I could relax leisurely. When I visited recently, I was having trouble speaking due to asthma medication, but I was able to enjoy a very good time alone. The room is clean and new, yet warm, with delicious food and fresh air. I was able to spend a wonderful time as if I had wandered into the world of Ghibli. Since it's near the bus stop, I was able to enjoy my stay without a rental car, but the number of buses is limited... For those who want to explore various places, having a car might be a good idea.
