    Very kind

I stayed here on a solo trip. Everyone at the Accommodation was incredibly kind and helpful! The meals at the Accommodation were beautifully presented and delicious—I was very satisfied. I was surprised that the drinks in the Room were free! I enjoyed having alcohol on the terrace to cool off in the evening, and drinking oolong tea after a bath, haha. In the morning, I made drip coffee using hot water from the water dispenser and spent my time feeling refreshed. The Room was also very clean, and the in-room bath was an Onsen. There wasn’t any mold at all in the bathroom. The grout was spotless, the faucets were shiny, and even the drain was clean. The large public bath was great too—the design is lovely. This time my goal for the next day was visiting shrines, so I went to Ishigami-san, Hikodaki Daimyojin, and Isawa Shrine. They kindly explained nearby roads and how to get around, which helped a lot. What’s more, even after I had checked out, they actually ran after me just to give me a taxi company phone number. Thanks to that, I could take a taxi when traveling from Hikodaki Daimyojin to Isawa Shrine and arrived an hour earlier! They also recommended a very kind taxi company, so the driver told me what preparations I needed for visiting Isawa Shrine as well—and I made it up safely! It turned into such a wonderful trip! I’d definitely love to stay again!

    I chose this Accommo...

I chose this Accommodation as a stop on my solo motorcycle tour, and I liked it because there are few Onsen Accommodations with one bedroom. It was a warm and welcoming Onsen Accommodation, and I’d like to visit again.

    It was a great accommodation.

The staff were kind and welcoming. The hot spring water quality was excellent, and the meals were very delicious. However, the parking lot was small, and there were a few areas where I felt the Facility and service could be improved a bit more. I stayed in a slightly better Room, but overall it felt like a somewhat small, cozy Accommodation.

It was a wonderful stay, including the charming local shops lining the approach to the shrine.

This was my first trip to Mie, and I stayed here for the first night. It was a lovely, cozy Accommodation nestled along a very narrow approach path to Shinmei-sama—so narrow that even compact cars can barely pass each other. The Room was more spacious than I could have hoped for as a solo traveler, with a generous sleeping area, a heated stone sauna sofa on the terrace, and a semi-open-air jacuzzi bath (with reheating available), all of which were extremely comfortable. Also, for the first time among the many Accommodations I’ve stayed at, there was even a dedicated water dispenser installed next to the refrigerator! Just outside the Room is a public space; up the stairs is an observation terrace with sofas, where I enjoyed breathtaking 360-degree views of Osatsu town and the sea beyond in the morning mist. Breakfast was truly delightful as well—many small side dishes (local and handmade) served little by little. Of course, the highly rated silky Onsen was wonderful, but for me personally, the massage treatment I requested after dinner was pure bliss. Surrounded by the soothing scent of oils, I slept deeply for what felt like the first time in ages. The next morning before check-out, I visited Shinmei-sama to pray, enjoyed some coffee, and then headed out. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

A Morning at Ishigami-sama Accommodation, Awaiting the Blossoms

The Accommodation is tucked away at the top of a narrow uphill road that’s just about the width of a car through the village—very much a fishing-village inn kind of setting. There are several parking spaces by the entrance, large enough to fit an Alphard/Vellfire. The building stretches east to west; from the Room at the eastern end and from the rooftop, you can see the sea. I’ve heard it’s a long-established place with quite a history. Despite that, it has been flawlessly renewed with no obvious signs of renovation: spacious interiors, quality furniture and décor with a modern sensibility, and everything is spotless. The staff are pleasantly cool—attentive without being overbearing. Shaguji Onsen is said to be around pH 9.4, giving it that true Onsen feel. It’s apparently heated, but perhaps due to the season and weather, I found the large public bath slightly on the cool side. You can buy post-bath beer from an indoor vending machine. Dinner isn’t the typical seaside style of simply piling on “fresh seafood.” The healthy set I chose was refined and appropriately portioned. It also seems possible to order additional meat, seafood, or late-night dishes separately. The craft beer and the house-labeled chilled sake pair very well with the food. The dining area is table seating in what seems to have once been a large tatami hall, now fully partitioned with movable panels. It’s not one of those common setups where they hang curtains in open booths or rely on transoms and gaps near your feet while calling it “semi-private.” Breakfast rice porridge was deliciously seasoned; TKG (rice topped with raw egg) was excellent as well. Raw egg isn’t “cooking,” but I suspect careful ingredient selection and skillful rice preparation make all the difference. When leaving, I was surprised to see what seemed like the young proprietress quietly polishing my shoes for me—almost too kind for my everyday footwear. Judging from Reviews, they keep making steady small improvements over time, so I’m looking forward to returning.

It was so relaxing… thank you very much!

About a 30-minute drive or bus ride from Toba Station to Minami-Toba, this was a quiet, relaxing Accommodation. From the rooftop, you can see the sea in two directions; at night you can enjoy the stars, and in the morning the sunrise is beautiful. The silky Onsen, spotless rooms, fresh sashimi and thoughtfully prepared dishes, along with the warm hospitality of the proprietress and staff, were truly soothing. Thank you very much. We would love to visit again.

The best Onsen with silky smooth water

The road to the accommodation was narrow and a bit concerning, but there was parking space for 4-5 cars, and the exterior had a calm appearance. The staff provided just the right amount of interaction, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The room felt small at first, but the terrace added a sense of openness, so it didn’t feel too cramped. Although the view from the room was only of trees, it offered privacy and tranquility, allowing us to relax fully. There were complimentary drinks in the refrigerator, which added to the sense of value. Near the accommodation, there were places like Ishigami-san Shrine and restaurants where we could enjoy a stroll with beer in hand for relaxation. The highlight was definitely the onsen! The water had a silky texture with just the right temperature; while not very spacious, its quality was excellent. Amenities like lotion were well-prepared and sufficient. Dinner might feel small for younger guests but was perfectly portioned and delicious for our age group. After dinner, we enjoyed an all-you-can-drink karaoke session at a nearby snack bar for 90 minutes at 3,500 yen—a reasonable price that allowed us to have fun without worry. They even drove us back to our accommodation when we mentioned where we were staying—such thoughtful service! With no traffic noise around, we slept soundly through the night. Breakfast was hearty with many homemade dishes that left us completely satisfied. On our way back home, we visited Meoto Iwa (the Wedded Rocks), making this trip truly unforgettable. Thank you very much!

    I feel refreshed.

I visit every year during this season, and once again, it did not disappoint. I felt completely refreshed. The meals have just the right portions, are made with quality ingredients, making them healthy and very delicious. The breakfast is also perfectly portioned, so I end up eating a bit too much. The Onsen has just the right size and Facility. I look forward to visiting again next year!

    Healing Accommodation

This is my second stay. The first time was in January this year when I stayed during a visit to Ise Shrine for the New Year. As a resident of Mie Prefecture, I usually make day trips to the shrine, but since it was a cold season, I wanted to enjoy an Onsen and delicious sashimi, so I searched for accommodation. I've stayed at many accommodations around Toba and Osatsu areas before, but this was my first time here. The beautifully presented dishes on the website and the rooms with open-air baths convinced me to choose this place. I rarely revisit accommodations as I like trying different ones, but it was such a great experience that we decided to stay here again for our second visit to Ise Shrine this year. Both times we stayed in Junior Suites (Junihitoe and Machiyoi). It’s just the right size for two people—my wife and me. While not a new building, it has been beautifully renovated and is very clean. The Onsen water is silky smooth—it’s from Shoguji Onsen—and you’ll want to soak forever. For meals, we chose the Jubei Kaiseki course but requested some changes: instead of shabu-shabu (which can be made at home), they replaced it with an Ise lobster hot pot; also substituted oyster dishes with grilled shellfish due to my wife's oyster allergy. I love sashimi! At other accommodations in Osatsu area, they often serve an entire farmed flounder which can be too much to finish—but here everything is served in just the right portions with beautiful presentation. Every dish was delicious! Their original sake "Jubei" pairs perfectly with meals—it became our favorite over other options like Jikon during our second stay. Conversations with both Okami (hostess) and Wakaokami (young hostess) were delightful as well! Unfortunately, due to enjoying myself too much (and drinking), there are fewer photos of meals than intended—I wish I'd taken more because there were so many wonderful dishes! Hoping for a third visit within this year!

Thank you for the wonderful time.

I usually stayed near Toba Station when visiting Ishigami-san, but this time I discovered an accommodation close to Ishigami-san and decided to stay here for the first time. The room I stayed in was newly renovated, very clean, and even had an onsen bath attached, which made my stay very satisfying. (However, the sound of running water at night was a bit noisy; it would have been nice if I could turn it off from the room instead of contacting the front desk—so I deducted one point for that.) The meals were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The abalone, oysters, and what seemed like chawanmushi made by the hostess were particularly memorable—and above all else—the rice was truly exceptional. Another small deduction is that while yukata are lovely, having something like pajamas provided would be greatly appreciated. I made this reservation on a whim just the day before my stay, but the hostess was incredibly attentive and kind, making my experience very comfortable. I will definitely visit again! Thank you for such a wonderful time!

    Healing Accommodation

A wonderful accommodation where you can truly experience the reasons for going on an Onsen trip. You'll naturally want to stay for a multiple night stay or visit again soon. Cleanliness, ambiance, the comfort of the Onsen, and the hostess's attentiveness were all excellent.

    Thank you very much.

It was an "Accommodation" I had always wanted to visit. The dishes reflecting local ingredients and the soothing onsen were exceptional. I hope to visit again next time with my mother as a gesture of gratitude. Thank you very much.
