    Dining and Onsen

The breakfast and dinner were both very delicious. Everything from the live kitchen was truly excellent, no matter what I chose. The Onsen was also wonderful, and the rotating Onsen baths were especially great.

    It was excellent.

We stayed here after searching for a Ryokan with a well-reviewed buffet, as our eldest son, now in middle school, found the adult meals at regular Ryokans not to his taste. The food was absolutely delicious and very satisfying. The main dishes were freshly prepared and tasty, and I personally loved the dashi chazuke (it would have been even better with some arare toppings). The freshly made desserts were also exciting. The kids were thrilled and kept saying they wanted to eat more but couldn’t because they were so full—clearly satisfied. The room was clean, and the lounge offerings like drinks and snacks delighted the children. The Onsen was spacious with excellent water quality. The staff’s attentiveness made our stay stress-free. We also appreciated the express checkout system—it was efficient and well-organized. We’d love to visit again!

Meals, bath, and interior: all 5!

I first stayed here in the summer of 2023. I stayed in a Japanese-style room that felt a bit old, but I was so impressed by the live buffet and the onsen that I returned on December 28-29, 2025. The Honjin Japanese-Western style room was more spacious and beautiful than I expected, which made me really excited! The entire accommodation was warm throughout, and I never felt cold for even a moment! While sleeping, I kept kicking off my futon. The large public bath seemed to have been renovated with clean changing rooms, allowing me to relax without feeling crowded. It was spotless, and the water temperature was perfect—absolutely amazing! Every dish at the buffet was delicious; no matter what you chose, it tasted great! Even with many guests around, it never felt unpleasant—I could fully enjoy my meal. Watching the chefs continuously prepare food was impressive; they were incredible professionals whom I truly admired. Rather than eating small portions of expensive meals in private rooms elsewhere, this place offers much greater satisfaction! This hotel provides an exceptional experience thanks to its many dedicated staff members' hospitality. I will definitely visit again!

I visited to enjoy the meals and was very satisfied. It would have been even better if local crab was available.

    The buffet for break...

The buffet for breakfast and dinner is delicious, with fresh crab served at dinner and a wide variety of all-you-can-drink beverages. In the afternoon, the lobby offers various snacks and popcorn, while after enjoying the hot springs in the evening, ice cream is available. The hot springs are very relaxing, with an outdoor bath said to be the largest garden-style hot spring in Hokuriku. While parts of the Ryokan show their age, renovations have been made to ensure it feels comfortable and not outdated. The staff are also very friendly. Transportation is very convenient; a shuttle bus is provided to JR Awara Onsen Station. Additionally, Echizen Railway Awara Yunomachi Station is right next to the hotel, offering access to Mikuni Port or transfers for sightseeing at Tojinbo Cliffs and enjoying Echizen crab cuisine.

    Highly Satisfied!

The exterior may appear a bit old, but once you step inside, the beautifully renovated interior offers a clean and spacious atmosphere. There is an all-you-can-eat snack bar and unlimited drinks available. The open-air bath features a shampoo bar and skincare bar, showing thoughtful consideration for guests' needs. The meals were exceptionally delicious, among the best we've had at any accommodation, with each dish carefully prepared and the seafood being outstandingly fresh. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and efficient, reflecting their high level of professionalism. Thanks to them, our stay was incredibly comfortable. From our room, we could see the Echizen Railway trains passing by, which delighted our grandchild immensely. The shampoo bar included many familiar non-silicone shampoos that made it convenient without needing to bring any from home. Similarly, cleansing products like face wash and lotions were from well-known brands commonly found in drugstores. When leaving for the parking lot across the road, three staff members kindly ensured we crossed safely with smiles on their faces. We are truly grateful for such a wonderful trip thanks to this ryokan. Our entire family is happy to have discovered this place!

    Well-organized

As expected from a large Ryokan, the Facility is well-equipped with features that children will enjoy, making it family-friendly. However, the selection of alcoholic beverages during dinner was very limited, and there was no bar, which might be disappointing for those who enjoy drinking. The public bath was excellent.

    The food is disappointing.

I tried the recommended sake (cold sake) made by the Onsen hostesses, but it tasted weak and watery. I had high expectations since it was said to be crafted by the hostesses of Awara Onsen, but it ended up detracting from the flavor of the dishes and was undrinkable. Perhaps because of this, there were no standout items in the kaiseki meal either; in fact, I felt that a buffet might have been a better option.

    The meals could be improved.

Overall, I think it is a good accommodation. Since the main focus seems to be on buffet-style meals, we opted for a kaiseki meal this time as it was a group trip with multiple families. It was neither particularly outstanding nor disappointing—just average.

    The Hotel exceeded expectations.

We stayed in the Honjin Japanese-Western style room as a family of three (elderly couple + adult son). Check-in was a pleasant experience, as we could sit in the lobby and enjoy a welcome drink. The dinner buffet was truly a live kitchen experience, and everything was delicious. Although the building had an older feel, the clean and well-maintained facilities left a positive impression. Having towels available in the large public bath area was functional and convenient. The hot spring water felt soft, leaving our skin smooth and refreshed. We enjoyed the variety at the shampoo bar and lotion bar in the large public bath area. The indoor wear provided was made of thick, high-quality fabric that felt comfortable to wear even when going to meals—it was excellent! All hotel staff were kind and warm-hearted, making our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you very much; it was an accommodation that left every family member completely satisfied!

    Very satisfied

We stayed at the accommodation with three generations. Everyone was satisfied with the meals and the bath, and we were able to stay smiling throughout. The staff were also kind and responded with smiles, making it a happy one-night stay. Thank you very much.

We visited with my niece and five adults. We were looking forward to the buffet as we heard it was good. Both dinner and breakfast had a wide variety of dishes, plenty of vegetables, and delicious flavors. The Room was comfortable and relaxing, and both the private bath in the Room and the public bath were excellent.

    Traditional...

An old-fashioned Hotel... that might be the honest impression. If you're with children, it could be highly satisfying. Especially the theater-style buffet dining experience. While it feels like the head chef is managing everything alone, the surrounding children seemed delighted. Overall, compared to a typical family-style buffet, there are creative touches that make it stand out successfully. Additionally, not only dressings for the buffet but also sauces, spreads for breakfast bread, and even shampoo and conditioner are available in a wide variety of selections. The all-you-can-drink option is also great—draft beer was included as well! I would love to visit again when going with children. However, if it's just adults, it might feel a bit lacking. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Dinosaur Room

During check-in, snacks were provided, making the wait comfortable and enjoyable for children. The Room had been newly renovated, but the interior of the closet was a bit disappointing. However, the children were thrilled with the dinosaurs and played with them endlessly.

A place enjoyable for the whole family.

I have stayed at various Ryokans and Hotels, but it's rare to find a place where the welcome drink is available all day. Snacks were free to take upon arrival, and at night, there was unlimited ice cream, which made the kids very happy. There were three karaoke rooms available for 2,000 yen each when fully booked, but we decided not to use them this time. The bath area included a sauna and mist sauna but felt a bit small. The food was excellent with all-you-can-eat crab and meat; everything was incredibly delicious. Each room had a modern capsule toy machine that tempted the kids quite a bit. The service was great as well, and it was affordable overall, leaving us satisfied. Many of the staff members were foreigners; while it might feel unusual for some people in today's world, it didn't bother us much. It rained during our stay so we couldn't leave the Ryokan, but next time I hope to explore Fukui more!

    Reasonably priced.

This was our first trip as a couple from Niigata to Awara Onsen. The hotel is located in the city rather than a traditional onsen town. We were assisted by foreign staff, and their sincere and smooth communication was impressive. The room was clean, and the meals were very satisfying. It was lively, but that added to its charm. As someone who enjoys drinking, I appreciated the all-you-can-drink option and left feeling full. While there wasn’t excessive service, for someone like me who came for the onsen and meals, it was more than enough to be satisfied. If I may suggest one thing: it would be nice if the bath towels were a bit softer. While it's convenient that they are always available in the large public bath area, perhaps due to frequent washing they lose some softness—understandable though it may be! Personally, I’d prefer softer towels provided in the room instead. P.S.: We originally made a reservation in February but had to cancel due to heavy snow; this time we finally made it! A kind male staff member told us over the phone back then: "Please visit us when it gets warmer," which encouraged us to come this time around. Despite enduring such a harsh winter with heavy snowfalls earlier this year—we soaked ourselves four times in relaxing onsen baths here & felt completely refreshed afterward! We look forward eagerly toward another opportunity someday soon!

The faster meal service was appreciated as I don't drink alcohol, and the crab rice at the end was so delicious that I had three servings. The breakfast buffet was also excellent. The Room's private hot spring was nice, but the large public bath was spacious with various baths to enjoy. I would love to bring my grandchild next time.

Very satisfied with the kaiseki cuisine.

This is my third time staying at Seifuso. I booked the "Jusan no Kaze" room again because it was very comfortable last time. The bath in this room is an onsen, and by opening the window, you can enjoy a semi-open-air bath with a view of the garden. It is spacious and very pleasant. Last time, we enjoyed a theater-style buffet which was fun and delicious, but this time, as it was just my husband and me, we chose kaiseki cuisine. The meal served in a private room was wonderful in terms of menu composition, taste, presentation, and tableware; everything was delightful and very satisfying. The staff who attended to us during dinner were also very pleasant, allowing us to have an enjoyable time. It's also convenient that checkout can be easily done from the room using a QR code. The person who saw us off (the okami?) was also very courteous despite the snow, making us want to come back again.

RO-AN ~ One Tag-Attached Echizen Crab Included ~ Enjoy 7 Types of Crab Dishes

Arrived using a rental car from Fukui Station. The parking lot is located across the road in front of the main entrance. When I arrived around 15:30 on 12/21, there was still plenty of parking space, and an attendant was present, so parking was easy. Since it was raining, when I dropped off my suitcase and fellow passengers at the carport, there was no one available to help due to the crowd, but later a luggage cart was brought, and we were told to wait on the lobby sofa. It took about 30 minutes to wait for the person in charge, but you can check how many people are ahead of you by scanning the QR code given at reception with your smartphone. During this time, you can enjoy the drink service and popcorn while waiting. (The smoking area is also nearby, with a space of about 5 tatami mats) Note that there are no snacks in the room. The person in charge was not a native Japanese speaker, but there was no problem with communication. The rooms of 蘆庵~RO-AN~ are the two rooms directly in front of the elevator on the 6th floor. The room was spacious, and the semi-open-air bath was fed by a hot spring with adjustable temperature. The Ryukyu tatami mats were comfortable on bare feet, providing a more relaxing experience. There is a massage chair available. Dinner is on the 2nd floor, and breakfast is at the live buffet venue on the 1st floor, but since they are private rooms with doors, even the small dinosaur sounds are blocked, allowing for a quiet meal. The Echizen crab with a yellow tag had exquisite crab miso. The Awara Onsen Okami brand sake was also excellent. Points were deducted for the children's yukata being stored crumpled in the island counter in the room, the toilet paper being single-ply instead of double, and the deteriorated hairband among the amenities, but I was very satisfied with the space and food provided for the price and would like to use it again.

This time, we stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. The Room felt a bit old, but the open-air bath was excellent. Also, since dinner and breakfast were served in a private room, we were able to enjoy our meals at a leisurely pace, which was very satisfying. When we checked out and left, everyone waved us off, which was very impressive and nice.

    It was excellent.

It was a spontaneous trip decided on the day, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. We didn't have high expectations since the Room was assigned randomly, but we were pleasantly surprised with a spacious Room that even had a massage chair—what luck! The bath was also large and allowed us to relax, and we chose the buffet for meals, which offered various freshly prepared dishes in a lively atmosphere. This made dining enjoyable and delicious for us traveling with children. Thank you very much!

The meals were very delicious and satisfying. The Onsen was also great. However, the Room seemed old, and I was concerned about the smell, so I used deodorizing spray every time I entered the Room. Next time, I would like to make a Reservation for a renovated Room.

A convenient Hotel located near the station.

It was my first time using this service. The location was very convenient, just a 5-minute walk from the Echizen Railway's "Awara-Yunomachi Station." There was a welcome drink area, a large souvenir shop, and the bath was also very spacious and comfortable. For meals, I tried the theater-style buffet for the first time. I enjoyed a variety of dishes, from sashimi, boiled crab, and freshly fried tempura to freshly baked pizza and freshly made desserts, which was excellent. Additionally, unlike most Hotels where drinks during meals are charged separately, this Plan offered free drinks, including alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, making it a very good value. I would definitely like to use it again.

    Cozy Property and Onsen

It was a very comfortable Property. I stayed here once many years ago, and this was my second visit. Everything had been upgraded since my last stay, and I was very satisfied. This time, I stayed in the "Jusan no Kaze," which had a semi-open-air Onsen bath and a Room with a garden. The arrangement of the Room was excellent, and I had a very pleasant stay. The meals, despite being a buffet, were of high quality in both variety and taste. The staff and chefs showed great hospitality, making the dining experience both delicious and enjoyable. The unlimited alcoholic beverages during meals were also a delightful bonus. The quality of the Onsen water was excellent, and bathing was truly refreshing. While it is not a luxurious Facility, it is a Property that makes you want to return.

    About Room Cleaning

I made a Reservation for a twin bed Room, but it was not properly cleaned. Baby Star snacks were scattered on the desk and floor, which made me feel disappointed and uncomfortable. There were no bath towels in the Room, and only yukatas were available in the hallway, so I couldn't take a shower or dry my hair in the Room. There were also no towels at the footbath corner, which was inconvenient. The provided samue was convenient for moving around, but it lacked pockets, making it inconvenient during the buffet. The Onsen was lukewarm and easy to enter. It was great that there were Onsens with gender rotation. Even during the holiday, it didn't feel crowded. As for the meals, the head chef's performance voice was loud and disrupted the dining experience. It was difficult to go get steak. However, the self-serve all-you-can-drink beer was excellent. The staff members were all polite and kind.

The buffet cuisine is absolutely amazing!!

The Room is clean, and the meals are incredibly delicious. This is my second visit this year. After all, if the food at an Onsen isn't good, it can be disappointing. However, Seifuso is absolutely satisfying. The A5-grade beef shabu-shabu is amazing!! The soup is fantastic too!! The steak is so popular that it draws a crowd, and the tempura is freshly fried and crispy. The beef tongue was also incredibly delicious. At the Onsen, you don't need to bring anything with you. There are more than five types of cleansing products and various kinds of lotions available. There are also 20 types of shampoo and conditioner. Unlike the usual shampoo and conditioner you find at most Onsens, they have about 20 different kinds that are commonly used in households. It's hard to choose, but trying a different one each time is part of the fun. Everything is so well-prepared, and I am extremely satisfied. I definitely want to visit again.

Only the customer service was disappointing.

The accommodation cost for two exceeded 70,000 yen, and the Room came with a private open-air bath. However, we were first surprised by the casual tone of the parking attendant. There were only two staff members at the front desk, resulting in a long queue and quite a wait... After that, a young staff member guided us to the Room, but their explanation was minimal, and they made us sit down for every little thing. They failed to mention that the yukata was located outside. Usually, yukata is provided in the Room (at least for a Property of this class, one wouldn't expect to fetch it themselves...), so after enjoying the Onsen in the Room, we were troubled by the lack of yukata. While the Facility and food were excellent, the customer service was very disappointing. I strongly hope for proper employee training. That said, the Room did have a massage chair, and the meals for both breakfast and dinner were delicious. We were also guided to a private dining area (it seems the arrangements differ depending on the Room), which was wonderful. Since there is a lounge, I think it would be great if it could be utilized for check-in and check-out. Additionally, the parking guidance could be approached more thoughtfully (using polite language, of course). Regarding the yukata issue, it would be helpful if such information were summarized in a guide pamphlet. I look forward to future improvements.
