    All the staff had a calm demeanor and provided pleasant service. The Facility and amenities are kept to the bare minimum, which may feel a bit lacking. Various wild birds came to the trees in the garden, delighting both the eyes and ears. Dake Onsen left a great impression—the Onsen town itself is compact, bright, open, and well maintained.

    A Ryokan filled with warmth and heartfelt hospitality

    I decided on a last-minute trip to Fukushima the day before, and when I looked for a place to stay for one night, I was lucky to find this very affordable weekday Plan. Thank you as well for accepting a solo guest. Both dinner and breakfast were great, and all the staff were so warm and welcoming that I felt very comfortable. The meals weren’t extravagantly luxurious, but each dish felt carefully prepared. The egoma tofu was delicious. I also felt that the other dishes were probably not pre-made commercial items, but handmade by the head chef. Even the simmered dishes and simple side plates showed the chef’s care—I really appreciate that kind of cooking. It’s far better than food that is just flashy or unusual. The Onsen water is of course from Dake Onsen—free-flowing, slightly milky-looking, and wonderfully relaxing. The women’s bath had three tubs: a shallow square bath, a cute main bath shaped like a flower, and an open-air bath, which was very satisfying. I was impressed to learn it is cleaned every day; maintaining free-flowing baths must be hard work. You truly put care into even what guests don’t see. I was also surprised to see fresh flowers arranged at each Room entrance—it really conveyed your hospitality. Cleaning throughout was thorough as well, and my Room felt very pleasant... This was my third time visiting Dake Onsen—it’s such a wonderful hot spring area—so I hope each Accommodation continues to make the most of its own character and keeps up the good work. The only disappointing point is that access by public transportation isn’t very convenient: because bus times between Nihonmatsu Station and Dake Onsen don’t match train schedules, depending on the bus you may end up waiting about 50 minutes at the station. It would be great if access were smoother. I didn’t see any inbound travelers, so perhaps you haven’t benefited much from them yet—but please keep it up. I will visit again.

    Moved by the Head Chef’s Passion

    The free-flowing, strongly acidic Onsen was wonderful. The meals were more than we seniors could finish! Even more dishes than listed on the menu, and the homemade touch truly warmed our hearts. Even with a limited budget, we were happy to feel how hard you’re working to give your best! We visit Onsen around Japan once a month, and the head chef left a lasting impression. Wishing you continued success. This is only my second time writing a Review. The first was 5–6 years ago at an Accommodation in Niigata that cost 56,000 yen per person, where dinner—like a simple breakfast—was brought to our Room on a large tray... and everything else was just as disappointing. I remember being so upset that I wrote a Review. We’re cheering for Ogiya—keep it up!

    This is a calm and highly recommended accommodation.

    Thank you for making my luxurious solo stay at the Ryokan even more special. Even though it was probably my last check-in, I was greeted by name as soon as I stepped inside, and you kindly accommodated a sudden change of plans. It’s rare to find a Room and bath so impeccably clean and well maintained. The meals were just the right amount and truly delicious. The courteous hospitality from everyone I interacted with perfectly matched the calm atmosphere of this Accommodation. It was such a wonderful Accommodation that I sincerely hope to return next time for a longer, more relaxed visit.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    I stayed here over the February 22–23 holiday. I heard it was fully booked, but it didn’t feel crowded. I really enjoyed the cloudy hot spring. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and while we were eating they kindly refilled our tea with fresh hot water—such wonderful attention to detail. The small tote bag for going to the bath was very cute; I was told it’s handmade.

    A cozy accommodation with delicious meals

    Not too big, not too small, making it easy to move from the room to meals or the onsen. The onsen is just the right size, allowing for a quiet and relaxing soak. The meals offer a wide variety of dishes, so much that you might struggle to finish everything. The staff maintain a perfect balance in their interactions, ensuring a comfortable stay. It makes you want to come back again. The courtyard features a waterwheel and a small waterfall, creating an atmosphere that truly feels like Japan and soothes your heart. Whether domestic or international travelers with over 1,000 stays under their belt often rely on reviews when choosing accommodations. After staying here myself, I feel this place is unlikely to disappoint anyone. The parking lot is conveniently located right next to the ryokan. The pricing is reasonable as well.

    The human-related services were pleasant. Two negative points: 1. The hairdryer in the bathroom was covered in dust, and I had to clean it myself. 2. During dinner, the music in the banquet hall was too loud, and the air conditioning wind was overly strong, making it far from relaxing. The music at the breakfast venue was also noisy and did not match the atmosphere of the accommodation.

    As the reviews suggested, this onsen accommodation was incredibly comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, offering warm hospitality from the moment we arrived. Beautiful fresh flowers placed throughout the facility added a soothing touch. The upgraded room was spacious, clean, and offered a lovely view of the courtyard. It was delightful to see an employee quietly making dried persimmons in the courtyard. The bedding style—futons laid on thick traditional mats—added a special nostalgic charm. The meals were delicious and satisfying in portion size. Highlights included the chef's special sesame tofu with sesame sauce, fried eggplant with miso sauce, and fresh tuna sashimi—all exceptional dishes. At breakfast, we could even get refills of salad and fried eggplant; enjoying freshly prepared eggplant was a unique treat (it’s rare to find non-buffet accommodations offering seconds for side dishes). The baths were available all night long, allowing us to enjoy the onsen at our own pace without worrying about time constraints. We would love to stay here again if given another opportunity.     I chose to visit Dake Onsen as it is close to my mother's hometown. I hope the onsen town regains its vibrancy. Although the building has a Showa-era charm, fresh flowers are displayed at the entrance of each guest room, and the senior staff provided heartfelt hospitality, allowing me to relax. While I am not fond of perilla leaves, the sesame tofu and dressing were absolutely delicious. When I went to the bath after arriving, there were about three groups initially. However, soon after, there was a line for washing areas, overflowing baskets in the changing room, and slippers scattered due to too many people. It seemed like they were day-use visitors; implementing a limit on numbers would be appreciated.

    Heartfelt hospitality that makes you want to return.

    Stayed at the accommodation after descending Mount Adatara. After slipping during a rainy hike, I sprained both hands (fortunately not my legs). Although I checked in late, the staff showed great concern and care. Even a staff member who happened to pass by in the hallway asked, "Are you okay?" which was very touching. The room was impeccably clean, and the hot spring water was excellent. While I had unnecessary worries about encountering bears in the open-air bath due to current times, the area was well-enclosed, allowing me to relax and enjoy the bath. Unfortunately, as it was right after my injury, I had to be cautious not to overheat myself. Great value for money—I’d love to visit again next time aiming for Milky Day!

    We were lucky to enjoy the milky Onsen, which was truly delightful. The meals were excellent in both quality and quantity, leaving us fully satisfied. The cost-performance was outstanding, and we definitely want to return. The staff's service was impeccable.

    The accommodation, including the room, gave the impression of being well-maintained. Cleanliness was evident throughout. I am satisfied. The meals were not particularly unusual or surprising, but it was clear that each dish for both dinner and breakfast was carefully prepared. They were delicious and very satisfying. The bath had a pH of 2.4, if I recall correctly, but it wasn’t overly harsh on the skin. While it didn’t leave my skin feeling silky smooth, it was more than sufficient to relieve fatigue. As for the room, all rooms are smoking-allowed with no non-smoking options available; this might be a bit challenging for those sensitive to tobacco smells. Considering current trends, introducing non-smoking rooms seems essential moving forward. Overall, I found this accommodation highly satisfactory!

    I stayed at the accommodation the day before climbing Mount Adatara. From the warm welcome, room guidance, to meal service, I truly appreciated the heartfelt hospitality. By chance, I was able to stay on a "Milky Onsen" day and felt very lucky. The pure white onsen had just the right temperature, and I enjoyed both indoor and outdoor baths at a leisurely pace. The next day, recharged with relaxing onsen and delicious meals, I successfully climbed Mount Adatara. Thank you very much!

    Heartwarming Hospitality

    A nostalgic stay at Gaku Onsen, a traditional accommodation with warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere. Since my father and I have difficulty walking, we requested a Japanese-Western style room. It was on the second floor but provided a very quiet and relaxing environment. The onsen had smooth, soothing water that made for an enjoyable bath experience. For dinner, we had kaiseki cuisine where we could choose between Adatara beef grilled on a ceramic plate or shabu-shabu. Although there was some miscommunication regarding our order, the hostess and staff sincerely apologized, showing their heartfelt service. Both dishes were delicious and satisfying. The sesame tofu with the chef's special sesame sauce was exceptional. While I don't have photos, the tempura featuring seasonal ingredients like asparagus was also incredibly tasty. As Fukushima is one of Japan's top three regions for horse meat (sakura-niku), we ordered it as an additional dish. The lean red thigh meat from Fukushima was tender and paired perfectly with garlic miso—absolutely delicious! Breakfast was not buffet-style but rather traditional Japanese cuisine ("The Washoku!"). The rice stood out as particularly delicious. Some side dishes were slightly salty for my taste but still enjoyable overall. This accommodation offered thoughtful hospitality throughout our stay, making it such a wonderful experience that I would love to visit again!

    Heartwarming Accommodation

    The facility may not be outstanding, but the onsen water was absolutely amazing. I loved both the quality and temperature of the water. The meals were more than sufficient in both quality and quantity. I especially preferred the breakfast over those at accommodations in the 30,000 yen range. There were plenty of dishes, and the grilled salmon and miso soup were delicious. Many of the staff at this ryokan were elderly, but they were very kind, gentle, and made me feel at ease. Overall, it was a wonderful onsen ryokan that offered great value for money and a heartwarming experience. Thank you very much!

    The room was spacious, perfect for a family of five. It was very clean inside, and with both Japanese-style and Western-style rooms, we could relax comfortably. The Onsen was sourced from a natural spring and felt amazing. There were also foot baths nearby, allowing us to fully enjoy the hot spring area. We've visited Fukushima several times, but this Ryokan offered the best value for its price. The portions of food were generous; however, the children's meals had too many fried items, so I deducted one star. For adults, the local cuisine was incredibly delicious!

    The meals were excellent.

    The service from pick-up to departure was excellent. Dinner had a wide variety of dishes, so much that we couldn't finish it all, and the taste was great. Breakfast was also delicious. We stayed in 2 Rooms for 4 people, and everyone said they would like to visit again.

    Quiet Onsen Town

    During Golden Week, we enjoyed a relaxing Onsen experience at Takayu Onsen, Tsuchiyu Onsen, and Dake Onsen. At Takayu and Tsuchiyu Onsens, we chose accommodations for adults, ensuring a quiet atmosphere with excellent cuisine and hot springs. As expected at Ougiya-san, there were many families with small children. However, sharing dining spaces with such families was challenging for us as we are not fond of children. It would be appreciated if considerations were made for guests like us. The public bath was quite small compared to the number of guests staying at the accommodation, resulting in a crowded experience—perhaps unavoidable during Golden Week but still disappointing. On the other hand, the private onsen in our room was spacious and absolutely wonderful. Coincidentally it was "Milky Day" on Monday, making it even more special. The bath towels were rough and had an unpleasant smell; perhaps it's time to replace them with new ones. We appreciated the shuttle service; however, it would have been better if our luggage had been placed in the trunk. A family who boarded later stored their luggage in the trunk comfortably while securing good seats for themselves. Meanwhile, we ended up sitting cramped in the back seat with our luggage on our laps all the way to the station. Regarding hospitality: while our room attendant was friendly and kind with a smile throughout her service, I found that whoever greeted us at departure (possibly Okami?) lacked warmth or friendliness—perhaps this is typical of Fukushima's culture? Or maybe we're just accustomed to Kansai-style hospitality?

    Very friendly

    Thank you for guiding us to the castle's cherry blossom festival during the return shuttle service, which doubled the enjoyment of our trip. This is the first time we have experienced such a thoughtful and kind accommodation.     It was a wonderful accommodation.

    Dinner included 2-3 surprise dishes from the chef that were not listed on the menu. The quality was excellent, and everything was delicious. For breakfast, the salad and eggplant were refillable, leaving us fully satisfied in the morning. The bath was at a perfect temperature—truly a relaxing experience. The staff member who attended to us was exceptionally kind and attentive.

    The shuttle service, hospitality, Onsen, and meals were all excellent. Everyone was very kind, including the staff who assisted us, those who answered our calls, and the staff at the dining area. The building itself feels a bit old, but it is well-maintained with clean rooms and baths. The Onsen was wonderful, so I would love to visit again on a milky day next time. The Onsen manju was very delicious; I bought some as souvenirs to take home. Thank you very much!

    The satisfaction level was high!

    First of all, the food was delicious. They kindly offered us refills of rice and salad, and everything was well-attended to in various ways. The bath was also pleasant with slightly hot water, and the milky white water felt very Onsen-like and was nice. The open-air bath was also good. The room, although not new, was clean and comfortable. The flowers displayed inside the building were also lovely. Overall, I was highly satisfied and would like to visit again.

    The hospitality, cuisine, and service are perfect. A property that makes you want to support it.

    The greetings and service from the staff were impeccable, and although the room was left to chance, it was spacious and had a sense of cleanliness. As mentioned in other reviews, the food is incredibly delicious. It felt like it stood out above the rest. One disappointing point is that the large public bath is narrow. The number of washing areas and the size of the bathtub are not sufficient considering the number of rooms and the facilities with banquet halls. Especially, the open-air bath can only accommodate two adults stretching their legs. It is recommended to enter during less crowded times by adjusting your schedule. However, if more people come later, it might not be ideal... (Note: I stayed on a weekday) Next time, I might choose a plan with an open-air bath attached to the room. However, there is only one room like that. Gaku Onsen (Gakuonsen) has some properties that have closed down, giving a somewhat lackluster atmosphere, but this ryokan is lively. The food, service, and the smiles of the staff are wonderful, making it a property you want to support.

    The hot water is simply the best.

    I stayed in a room with an open-air bath. All the staff were pleasant, and it felt like a traditional hot spring inn. The meals were elegantly seasoned and all were delicious. Breakfast was also tasty, and I was particularly pleased that the miso soup stayed hot in a small pot until the end. The hot spring in the large public bath was milky white with mineral deposits. The water was simply wonderful. The hot spring in the room couldn't be adjusted, and it was quite lukewarm, but I thought that was normal and used it as it was. The next morning, it became even more lukewarm, so I asked the front desk to increase the water flow, and the hot spring poured in abundantly, turning into a milky white bath. I regretted not contacting the front desk from the beginning. I think it would be convenient if the temperature of the hot spring could be adjusted in the room.
