Naruto the Ryokan
Above all, the slope from the parking area into the Ryokan felt truly welcoming. At check-in, the staff spoke politely and with great hospitality, and they answered exactly what we needed right away—with a smile. Since it is run by Chateraise, the sweets and tea served on arrival were also wonderful. There was a wide variety of black teas as well.

The open-air bath is spacious.
This is a Chateraise-affiliated property, but cakes must be purchased at the shop. The complimentary snacks were small rice crackers, and the free drinks included draft wine (red and white) and orange juice. The Room has a retro Showa-era style. Although it features free-flowing hot spring water, the bathtub is small, so we recommend using the large public bath. The open-air bath is spacious and very relaxing. Meals are Japanese-style with a wide variety of dishes. Overall, it feels more suited to adults.

We had a great time.
Onsen water even came out of the bath in our Room—how unusual. The food was also very delicious. The freshly made rolled omelet at breakfast was served hot and tasted great. Since we were on a Multiple Night Stay, I was surprised that we were served salt-baked sea bream. There were three baths in total. Thanks to the Onsen, my skin felt smooth. However, it was hard to see your footing in the open-air bath, and the stairs felt scary. The Room is a bit old, so the tatami floors creaked. The welcome drinks were wine and orange juice. We took some sweets (Chateraise baked treats) back to the Room and enjoyed them slowly. Tea and coffee were set up by the stairs so you could drink them in your Room, and we could have as much as we wanted without hesitation. It’s a place where you can relax in your Room at ease. All of the staff were kind, so it’s somewhere I’d like to visit again. Thank you very much.

I’d love to stay here again.
Everyone at the Accommodation was incredibly kind. We chose a Room with a private bath, so we could soak as many times as we wanted, and it felt wonderful. We didn’t include dinner and ate at the restaurant on the second floor instead; it was great to be able to freely choose whatever we wanted. The welcome drink and sweets were a nice touch, and the Yatsudoki cake was delicious. Just one thing: the shower at Utakata-no-Yu was very hot, and I couldn’t adjust the temperature, so I wasn’t sure what to do. However, I could adjust the temperature normally at Aurora-no-Yu and in our Room shower, so I washed my hair there. There were also vineyards and peach orchards right next door, which really impressed me. It isn’t a new Accommodation, but it had everything we needed and felt like great value. We were very satisfied and would love to stay again soon. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

The Onsen, welcome wine, and snacks were great!
The free-flowing Onsen hot spring was wonderful. We enjoyed the welcome wine, juice, and snacks. It would have been even better if we could eat and drink in the Room or on the 3rd-floor terrace.

The Onsen and meals are excellent.
This was my second stay, and this time I had a Room with a cypress bath. Since the meals and the large public bath are in the main building in a separate wing, it was quite a walk and getting there was a bit difficult. The Onsen was excellent. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. In particular, the signature thick rolled omelet at breakfast was outstanding.

A Relaxing Solo Trip
Right after I made my Reservation, they promptly answered my questions and recommended a pet Hotel. I was able to leave my dog in good hands and fully enjoy my Onsen trip.

Ideal for international travelers
I stayed here with a Singaporean friend who visited Yamanashi for the first time in 30 years. We mistakenly arrived at another Chateraise Hotel in Isawa, but the kind front desk staff arranged a shuttle to bring us here. They prepared a Japanese-style Room for us, and from the moment we arrived we were welcomed with wine, sweets, and all the amenities we needed. My friend especially loved wearing the yukata. The baths—both open-air and indoor—are natural Onsen, and the water is refreshed frequently, so you can enjoy different baths. The meals were delicious and just the right portion size. The staff were all professional, and we had a very comfortable stay.

They were very kind and helpful to us.
I used a Plan that allowed us to bathe and dine in the Room so I could stay with my mother, who was not feeling well. Thanks to the staff’s support, we were able to spend precious time together as parent and child. Personally, I thought the meals were very delicious and generously portioned. We also enjoyed being able to use the Onsen bath in our Room whenever we liked, and we used it several times. We had breakfast from 8:00 and finished around just before 9:00, but since check-out is at 10:00, there wasn’t much time to rest after eating before getting busy preparing to leave. I felt that if check-out were at 11:00, we could take a short break and even enjoy one more bath. Overall, I’m very glad we had such a satisfying one-night stay. Thank you very much.

The natural hot spring Onsen was excellent.
I thought it was a great place to enjoy natural hot spring water. The building is old, but it’s a good place to relax while enjoying a retro Showa-era atmosphere. The Onsen also had that classic, traditional charm. One thing I was unsure about: Infants (meals included, no bedding): 30% of the adult rate, Infants (no meals, no bedding): 2,200 yen. I didn’t really understand the difference between these two. This time I paid 30% of the adult rate, but if the meal conditions are similar to those for adults, I wondered whether the 2,200 yen infant fee would have been sufficient. I wasn’t sure which applied. I would appreciate it if you could explain the difference.

Exceptional natural hot spring water with continuous free-flowing source (100% fresh from the spring).
As the building is old, it does not feel luxurious. The meals are simply and pleasantly tasty, but they are not special dishes that feel out of the ordinary. However, as the title says, the Onsen water quality is outstanding, so it is recommended for those who prioritize hot springs. The fact that there were many families with children may be a matter of preference (we liked it). It’s best to aim for a cheaper season.

This Accommodation i...
This Accommodation is ideal for adults (especially those who enjoy alcohol) and for guests who want to relax in the Onsen. As noted in the Reviews, the lobby is extremely small—once four adults are seated, there’s no space left even to take a breather. Although wine and juice are available freely, it’s only possible to drink them on the spot (and standing), so it’s not a place where you can settle in. The small area is intentionally set up right in front of the front desk so it can be monitored at all times, which makes it less suitable for families with small children. That said, the Room was very spacious and kept impeccably clean, and we were able to relax. Since we traveled with a young child this time, we would like to stay again on an adults-only trip next time. Thank you very much.

Solo travel
I stayed for one night in Isawa Onsen for the first time. At this Chateraise Group Accommodation, I enjoyed some cake, bought Hotel-exclusive items, and even had them shipped to me. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, the staff were kind, and I was able to relax. I would like to stay again.

Highly satisfied.
Enjoy a relaxing Onsen experience in a room with a cypress bath. The level of service, including Shuttle Service, facility guidance, and meals, is exceptionally high. The welcome drink wine was also delicious. The only area for improvement is the drainage in the bathroom; water overflowing from the bathtub tends to linger in the washing area for some time. Please check the drainage pipes.

Mold and slime in the observation bath
I stayed in a Room with an observation bath, but the tiles and chairs had mold and slime, making me wonder how long it hadn't been cleaned. I ended up cleaning it myself before using it... I was looking forward to this for a special occasion, so it was disappointing despite everything else being great.

Family-Friendly Onsen Accommodation
Isawa Onsen is conveniently located near the metropolitan area and offers an abundant supply of hot spring water, making it an easy and enjoyable destination. We were able to relax and fully enjoy the Onsen. The room with a private open-air bath was especially comfortable as it eliminated the hassle of going out. However, there were a few points that caught our attention during this stay. We found a wrapper from a previous guest's snack (a cigar-shaped cookie) in the room. It was in a hard-to-spot place under the table by the window corridor, so we understand how it might have been overlooked, but it still left us feeling uneasy. Additionally, the air conditioner's remote control had its battery cover missing, which gave off an impression of neglect. Considering we paid a fair amount for this experience, we hoped for more attention to detail to enhance that sense of escape from daily life. While the private open-air bath itself was very comfortable with well-maintained temperature settings, due to its location there wasn’t much of a view—just a large utility pole directly in front—which felt somewhat surreal. The meals overall were delicious; however, perhaps due to space limitations at the dining venue, some couples were seated in rows facing one direction like in conference rooms. This setup detracted slightly from creating that special non-daily atmosphere we had hoped for; our breakfast seating arrangement also followed this format. From what we observed—such as various facilities offering free snacks and well-stocked shops (like Yatsudoki)—this place seems ideal for families or groups including grandparents and grandchildren looking for quality time together. While our expectations may not have aligned perfectly with what was offered on this occasion—and thus reflected in our stricter satisfaction rating—we believe family groups would find great value here and leave highly satisfied overall!

This is not a Hotel provided by IKYU.
I have used IKYU many times based on its recommendations, but this time I am extremely disappointed by the strictness. IKYU should evaluate more carefully before making recommendations. I have lost trust in it. Very disappointing.

We made a reservation with high expectations under the name of Chateraise and went with friends. The onsen had a perfect temperature and was clean, which was satisfying. However, there were some staff members during check-in and dinner who were unpleasant, giving the impression that hospitality training was lacking. The meals also fell below expectations, which was a bit disappointing. We will not be returning.

Thank you for accomm...
Thank you for accommodating me on short notice during my business trip. I stayed in a special twin room (no meals included). Since I stayed at another accommodation with the same price last month, I am sharing my thoughts from a comparative perspective. According to locals, there are many accommodations in the area with similar pricing. While I trusted the Chateraise brand, to be honest, I was slightly disappointed. - Room: There were hairs on the toilet floor and a long hair on the bath mat. The refrigerator had sticky coffee-like stains left by previous guests. Overall, I felt that cleaning was not thorough enough. Additionally, there was no facial cleanser provided either in the room or in the public bath area. - Public Bath: The Onsen itself was excellent; however, at night it was difficult to see some of the steps in the open-air bath area, which seemed dangerous. - Service: Although I did not have any meals here, staff service was very polite and attentive.

Two Chateraise Hotels
There are two options in Isawa Onsen: Chateraise Hotel Isawa and Fujinoya. At Chateraise, you can enjoy unlimited ice cream and sweets, while Fujinoya offers a welcome drink with unlimited wine and orange juice until 8 PM. If you choose a room with a family onsen, it also includes a sauna, and the living area is spacious at 20 tatami mats—perfect for groups of about six people. There's an additional karaoke room where you can enjoy singing, and from its window, you get a great view of the Isawa Onsen Fireworks Festival held on August 24th (though we visited too early to see it). The onsen features alkaline simple hot springs with a slight sulfur scent that leaves your skin feeling smooth. The baths have plenty of water supply with three temperature options: 39°C, 41°C, and 42°C—suitable even for those who prefer milder heat. However, some faucets are old and difficult to adjust. The meals are well-known among locals for their quality; many visit just for the food and onsen experience. The menu includes various ingredients like pike conger (hamo), sweetfish (ayu), horse sashimi (basashi), with sukiyaki or shabu-shabu as the main dish options. The shabu-shabu meat was both plentiful and high-quality. When we mentioned it was our son's birthday today, they kindly brought grape juice as a gift to our room later—a thoughtful gesture! Breakfast was also delicious; the freshly made tamagoyaki prepared right in front of us was exceptional. The staff were very attentive and customer-focused throughout our stay—it made all the difference!

Relax and unwind in the soothing hot springs.
I stayed with the image of Fujinoya before it became part of the Chateraise Group, and I was surprised to find that the former reception area had turned into a pastry shop. Some parts of the interior have been renovated, giving a slightly refreshed feel. There was no water pitcher prepared near the bed, so having vending machines for drinking water within the facility would be convenient. In a living room-like room, there was a TV installed near the ceiling, but its main power was off. When I checked the washroom, I found a sauna and was surprised; however, there were no specific instructions about it. I stayed for two nights; however, on the second night, dinner had initially been served with exactly the same menu as on the first night (later corrected), and there were some issues with front desk service as well. The lack of sincere apologies in such cases felt slightly disappointing. The quality of Onsen water was excellent and allowed me to relax thoroughly; however, facilities like souvenir shops or vending machines seem necessary under current management practices.

A bit surprising!
The meals and Onsen were excellent! The Room felt a bit old, but it wasn’t bad overall. However, the bed had some spots where the springs could be felt, which was disappointing. The open-air bath next to the lobby on the first floor had a charming atmosphere, but there were spider webs, which was unfortunate. The shower temperature was very difficult to adjust (perhaps due to aging faucets?), and there was no lighting further inside, making it pitch dark at night and only accessible halfway through. This surprised me: someone with tattoos on both arms was bathing in the Onsen. While I don’t think tattoos are bad in this day and age, it caught me off guard as it was my first time seeing this in a public bathhouse.

The teppanyaki was delicious.
The teppanyaki meal while chatting with the female chef was enjoyable and delicious. We stayed to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and the dessert plate she created was beautiful and made for a wonderful memory. However, the bed in the room with a bed in the main building was too firm and uncomfortable to sleep on. The Onsen's open-air bath had a pleasant sulfur smell and smooth texture, but unfortunately, the indoor bath did not have as much of that smooth feeling. The complimentary all-you-can-drink welcome wine was delightful.

Value beyond the price
The hotel seemed old, and I was surprised by the narrow elevator and the all-you-can-drink corner. The faucet at the room's sink also appeared old and came off several times. The skincare products provided in the room and bathroom were all from Sekkisei, which was excellent. The Onsen quality, dinner, and breakfast were outstanding.

Be amazed by the quality of the meals.
No matter how many times I think about it, I can't understand why the seasoning of the meals was like that. Is it because they have a policy of not using dashi, or have they never eaten at other establishments, or do the chefs have some issue with their sense of taste for some reason...? The Onsen and the staff's hospitality were excellent, which makes it all the more disappointing.

The staff's hospitality is excellent.
This was my first visit to Isawa Onsen. With a Chateraise shop on-site, I enjoyed a one-night stay with welcome wine, small rice crackers, and vouchers for daily sweets. The main purpose of the trip was, of course, the onsen. I thoroughly enjoyed three different large baths and open-air baths at different times. The water was gentle on the skin and pleasantly warm at 39°C—though it seemed low at first, it warmed me up quickly and kept me cozy for a long time afterward. For dinner, instead of dining at the accommodation's restaurant, I ate sushi at an attached Japanese restaurant by chance as I sat at the sushi counter. They were very attentive to details like the size of the rice portions in each piece of sushi. The hotel staff were friendly and kind throughout my stay. The dashimaki tamago served during breakfast was absolutely delicious!

1.83いがたくวันที่โพสต์: 18/9/2024The name of Chateraise is crying.
The hot water and meals were good. (However, the rice was hard and not tasty.) First, the lobby is small, and I couldn't enjoy the welcome drink in peace. There are many slopes inside the building, the elevator shakes, there's only one room key, the water in the refrigerator isn't cold, the TV doesn't even show NHK and many channels have distorted screens, the room is old, the toilet remote doesn't work, I can't find the evacuation route, there's no guide map of the entire facility, at dinner time the door is closed and guests have to open it themselves and ask "Is it okay?", at breakfast I couldn't find a seat and even though the hotel made a mistake with the time, there was no apology, there are stones for sitting in the open-air bath but they are invisible and scary (at least make them white or improve the lighting), and the shower temperature is inconsistent. There are other issues, but it felt like a hotel under 10,000 yen. The gap between the renovated and non-renovated areas is large, and the name of Chateraise is tarnished. I won't be repeating my stay. (Disappointed)
