You may want to check the extra futon cover.

The Onsen water quality was excellent. We had to lay out the futons in the Japanese-style room ourselves, but the covers did not fit either the mattress or comforter, so they served no purpose. The service was great, and the hot spring hopping was also enjoyable. Thank you very much.

An overnight stay the day before is required to visit Kamikochi.

Used as an overnight stop before heading to Kamikochi. It’s a perfect Accommodation if you’re taking an early-morning bus: the bus terminal for Kamikochi is a 5-minute walk away, and luggage storage is available. Other than that, it’s very average. The Onsen is also average. Recommended for those who prioritize convenience and don’t expect much from the Accommodation itself.

We reserved a room with a private toilet and bathroom, but we were given a room with only a toilet. The facilities were crowded throughout our stay, especially the onsen and the dining room.

    Wonderful Onsen

The large public bath is excellent. It alone is worth traveling from afar to stay here.

Thank you—I had a very relaxing stay.

First of all, thank you to the front desk staff for your courteous service from check-in onward. I carefully checked the weather forecast and decided there would be no snowfall, then hurriedly planned a trip to my beloved Hida Takayama and Okuhida. After leisurely enjoying the old town streets, I headed to the Accommodation and arrived around dusk—only to see white flakes falling from the sky. In the end, it worked out perfectly. The early-morning Onsen was a stunning open-air bath with snow viewing and a softly lit winter landscape. With no wind, I was able to enjoy a quiet moment all to myself and Clear away my daily fatigue and stress. The indoor bath also had a lovely interior and atmosphere, was beautifully cleaned, and I enjoyed a full hour—completely satisfied. The Yakult drink service in the post-bath lounge was another thoughtful touch; I ended up having three. Breakfast afterward was outstanding for someone who loves Japanese food—I had three large bowls of rice first thing in the morning. Hoba miso, “tsukemono steak,” kombu rolls, simmered ganmodoki, steamed vegetables, miso soup with fried tofu… And as if that weren’t enough, I even finished off some special curry rice. Now I’m slightly nervous about my next regular checkup with my hemoglobin A1c likely going up… On the way home I did some light exercise by strolling around Takayama again: Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, the Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall, Hiroshige’s baumkuchen shop, a cat café, and more. This is an Accommodation I’d like to visit again anytime in any season—and one I truly hope to stay at again. Next time I’d love to try dinner as well. When I noticed the interior (tatami flooring?), it felt familiar—then I realized it’s part of the same group as Hida Hanazato no Yu Takayama Ouan. Once again, it struck me as a wonderful concept: clean and beautifully Japanese in style. Thank you very much.

    The open-air bath is exceptional.

Hirayukan is a traditional Japanese-style accommodation. The spacious open-air onsen was absolutely wonderful, not only for its size but also for the excellent water quality. The buffet meals were much more delicious than expected. Guests can also enjoy the baths at the sister accommodation, Sakura-an, which made it feel like double the onsen experience and a great value. With a bus stop nearby for easy access to Kamikochi, I’m looking forward to staying multiple nights next time to fully enjoy Kamikochi at a leisurely pace.

    It was a disappointing accommodation.

We stayed as two elderly couples. There was no staff to assist with parking, so we had to drive to the parking lot ourselves and walk back to the accommodation, which was confusing. The front desk staff were unhelpful, and their explanation of how to get to the guest room was insufficient, making it difficult to navigate through what felt like a maze. We had to load our luggage onto a cart and carry it ourselves. There were stairs along the way, but this wasn't explained beforehand. However, an older staff member who assisted us later was very kind and pleasant. The meals were not particularly delicious, which was disappointing. It would be better if this accommodation were more senior-friendly.

    I couldn't relax.

The overseas guests (Chinese?) were loud and noisy both in the dining area and the bath, making it difficult to relax. They walked in the changing room with slippers and gathered in a circle of 7-8 people, talking loudly without facing the mirror in the washing area. I believe they are not familiar with how to behave in an onsen, so I hope the staff can regularly patrol and provide guidance. Otherwise, individual guests may be driven away. It's a shame because the water was good. Also, the dining area by the window was too cold to stay for long. A lap blanket alone is insufficient.

    Hot spring tour

The room had a Showa retro feel. It was spacious and the Japanese-style bed was clean. There was no toilet or bath in the room, but there was a new toilet and washroom nearby, so it was not inconvenient. The bath was very nice. We were able to enter the main building as well, so we went in the morning wearing yukata. You can go empty-handed as towels are provided. The bath in the main building was also new and nice. However, the meal was a bit disappointing. I hope the Kyoritsu Group can improve the quality a bit more. The night soba with light soy sauce was delicious.

    I was able to relax.

I previously stayed here with a friend and had a good impression, so this time I visited with my spouse. The Room had a Japanese-style area, allowing us to stretch out and relax differently from a bed. The large public bath was well-maintained and provided a pleasant bathing experience. The ice candies in the waiting area were also appealing. The meals were buffet-style, which was delightful for our generation, as we could enjoy a little bit of what we liked. Despite being far from the sea, the sashimi corner offered fresh sashimi, and the tuna sashimi was particularly delicious. I would have appreciated it if the meat was offered at a live kitchen. The automatic payment at checkout was efficient and convenient. If given the opportunity, I would like to visit again.
