Winters can be harsh due to the cold.

The corridor connecting the Main Building, East Wing, and Annex (Large Public Bath) is exposed to the outside air and was very cold. At night, it seems to be closed off, but there was a strange smell lingering in the corridor that was concerning. Even after warming up in the Onsen, my body would get completely cold again by the time I returned to my room. The Large Public Bath itself was also cold, and while there was a lovely rest area offering water, lemon water, and barley tea, it too felt quite chilly. It seemed difficult to relax there as I never saw anyone actually sitting in that space. Additionally, even with the room's air conditioning set at maximum (30°C), it did not warm up properly and the entire room felt cold. While spacious and comfortable overall, the toilet had an old-fashioned design reminiscent of public restrooms from decades ago (Showa era), which came with an unpleasant odor. This accommodation might be better suited for seasons other than winter (though summer could potentially feel hot as well). Furthermore, check-in/check-out processes were only partially digitized; credit card numbers had to be manually entered by staff. This raised concerns about privacy if someone happened to stand behind you during this process—it was surprising that cards weren’t inserted or tapped but instead required manual input. As for breakfast—it personally ranked among my least favorite compared to recent stays elsewhere. The lack of warm dishes may have contributed to everything feeling somewhat cold overall. On a positive note: The lobby was warm with a relaxing atmosphere where one could unwind comfortably. For those who appreciate retro charm including Showa-era aesthetics—this accommodation might suit their tastes well! Choosing from colorful yukata robes added a delightful touch too. Lastly—and most importantly—the young staff members were bright and friendly; their hospitality made me feel genuinely welcomed and helped offset some of these inconveniences!

    Hospitality

The young female receptionist's service was extremely unpleasant. Her tone and attitude clearly showed reluctance, whether answering questions or taking photos upon request. If she dislikes customer service, perhaps she shouldn't work here. This is a third-rate Hotel in the countryside. Perhaps retraining in customer service at urban Hotels or Business Hotels would be beneficial? I called in advance to request a private family bath and was told they would confirm and call back, but no follow-up occurred. If you claim to record calls for quality improvement, please ensure complaints are reviewed and used for future improvements.

    A tranquil Hotel

Welcome drinks, especially the cold sake, were a delightful touch appreciated by the host. Although the walk to the bath was a bit long, guests could choose their yukata, and the men's and women's baths alternated daily for added variety. The Room was a spacious Japanese-Western style, and dinner was served in just the right portions. After check-out, guests could relax in the lobby or garden at their leisure.

    Fireflies

I stayed the night before my plans in Takehara as it was my first time using this service. Since I had planned to go to a lunch buffet with friends the next day, I appreciated having a dinner-only option. The Room was on the same floor as families, and they kept their doors open while talking loudly until nearly midnight, which was noisy. The Room seemed close to the elevator, so I could hear noises and woke up early; however, this allowed me to enjoy an early morning bath. I enjoyed tasting different types of sake and found the peach juice delicious as well. It was nice that I got to see fireflies after hearing people at a nearby table talk about them. Thank you very much!

A quiet and serene Hotel, confusion on the web.

The meals were excellent, and it was a relaxing Hotel. While overall satisfaction was high, there are areas for improvement. The surface of the round table by the window in the Room was worn out. It was disappointing to see a few withered pine trees in the spacious garden. It would be nice to have freely available face towels in the large public bath.

    You can relax.

Pros: Located in the mountains, this accommodation offers a peaceful escape from daily noise, including car sounds, allowing for complete relaxation. The Onsen had excellent water quality and was not too hot, which I personally enjoyed. I would definitely like to revisit Yusaka Onsen. The complimentary welcome drink was a nice touch, and the service overall was commendable. Cons: While it is understandable that there are limited lockers in the large communal bath area, some of the locker keys had broken wrist loops, making them inconvenient to carry around by hand. Repairing these would likely reduce any inconvenience or potential issues for guests without significant cost. Not necessarily a negative point but worth noting for future guests: Since this accommodation has been renovated, there are some older parts remaining. While it didn’t bother me much, those expecting everything to be sparkling new—including restrooms—might find this noticeable. There is only one elevator available on-site; while rushing isn’t part of staying here, it might feel slightly inconvenient at times. Overall: This stay provided an excellent escape from work and daily life with no car noises or crowded views of houses nearby—offering a truly relaxing day away from busyness. Highly recommended for those looking to unwind completely! Lastly, as there aren’t many restaurants nearby and places near Takehara Station were fully booked during my visit, opting for accommodations with breakfast and dinner included might be more reassuring for your stay here.

The bathroom was somewhat small. The dishes seemed to have little difference between courses.

I wanted to visit the Showa era.

I chose it for its convenience right off the national highway, but it was in such a remote riverside location that it made me uneasy. Once inside, I was surprised by the spacious lobby and the magnificent garden. Everything is completed via smartphone, which is a bit disconcerting given the retro feel of the Hotel. At dinner, I was disappointed to find the pre-arranged sashimi had dried out.

    Simple and Relaxed

I had a very enjoyable stay. There are two baths with a rotation system, and since there is a difference, I recommend taking a bath twice. It's a property I would like to stay at again. The sake in the lobby was also delicious.

We stayed at the property to celebrate my sister's 70th birthday.

The spaciousness of the living room was the best ever, allowing for a relaxing stay. For various reasons, there was no welcome, and we had to carry the cart ourselves, which would have been difficult if we were only elderly. There was no dresser in the Room, and I wanted to sit down to do my makeup. It would have been nice to have lotion in the bathroom. That said, for this price, the Room and the food offer high satisfaction. Thank you very much.

    Three-generation family trip

Use of one room for five people for two nights and three days Both twin beds and futons are comfortable Breakfast was a buffet at the venue with the same menu for both days, but there were many items, so it didn't get boring, although the distance between tables was somewhat narrow Dinner was in a private room for the family only, with a satisfying amount even for adult men. The taste was good. Please make the flow lines inside the property easier to understand (such as shortcut routes) In the lobby, guests could enjoy coffee and other drinks for free in paper cups before heading out There is an open-air bath, but it is a pot bath for one person at a time Additionally, the indoor bath has a jet bath and sauna After bathing, water, barley tea, and lemon water are free This time, it was within an hour from the place I wanted to visit, so I would like to repeat if I have the opportunity
