    When I entered the Room, there was no sash or towels. When I tried to borrow at least a bath towel at night, an elderly male staff member at the front desk just said, “Hmm,” which made me laugh. I would have appreciated at least an apology.

    Traditional Ryokan

    I expected some level of oldness, but it was disappointing that the toilet in the Room had no ventilation fan, perhaps because I stayed in a cheaper Room. The meals were served in a beautifully renovated Room with a delightful presentation like a treasure box, which was very impressive. However, personally, I felt salmon and shrimp were unnecessary among the sashimi selection. The meat was absolutely delicious. The private open-air bath had a great view, but there were insects that made me leave midway. The staff's service was very polite and pleasant. This may sound like harsh feedback, but it reflects my honest feelings.

    Always very satisfied.

    I visit Ajiro for fishing and always choose this accommodation as my regular stay. It's so comfortable that I often end up extending my stay. The view is great, and the private bath is absolutely amazing. I will continue to support you!

    Unfortunately.

    I was drawn to the onsen with natural hot spring water and decided to stay. The private onsen, which could be used for free without a reservation, offered a stunning view of Ajiro Bay and was absolutely amazing! Especially in the morning, it was wonderful to watch the sunrise. Although it is not a luxury accommodation, I expected the meals to be of a certain standard since it is listed on IKYU.com. However, none of the dishes had rich flavors from dashi stock and were even below home-cooked meals, which was very disappointing. Has the head chef lost their touch? Even using store-bought dashi could improve things slightly, so I hope this can be addressed. Unfortunately, I will not visit again. The content differed significantly from what was shown in photos and felt quite poor in quality—it was shocking. Even during a holiday period, paying nearly 70,000 yen for two people felt unreasonable for what we received. I apologize if this sounds harsh but wanted to share my experience so others do not feel similarly disappointed. It's such a shame because the onsen itself is truly exceptional!

    I stayed in a Japanese-style room on the first floor. It felt as comfortable as being back at home. The meals were plentiful but delicious. I was able to relax and enjoy the Onsen. Thank you very much.

    Natural hot spring flow

    The exterior shows some wear and tear, which initially caused a bit of concern, but the interior was impeccably clean and well-maintained, with attention to detail that made for a comfortable stay. Having visited Izu many times, I can confidently say that the hot spring water here is among the best I've experienced. While some mentioned the water being lukewarm, as someone who enjoys very hot baths, I found it satisfying. However, it would have been nice if one of the private baths had a higher temperature setting. The presentation of the "Local Fish ZANMAI Treasure Box" lived up to its reputation and was truly impressive; however, there were more garnishes than sashimi inside, so it didn’t quite feel like "ZANMAI." That said, every detail reflected thoughtful hospitality, making for an exceptional experience overall. I would love to return if given another opportunity!

    The staff were cheerful and provided excellent service, which made me very happy. The private Onsen, available for free, was relaxing and enjoyable. It was also convenient to check the availability of the private Onsen near the elevator. Both dinner and breakfast offered generous portions and a variety of dishes, yet without fried foods, making them feel healthy. I also appreciated the selection of yukata and souvenirs.

    The view from the Room and the Special Platter with 13 types of fish are exceptional.

    I was glad to make a Reservation for the 13-item Sashimi & Shabu-shabu Special. Everything was fresh and delicious, and I could enjoy dinner at a relaxed pace. The weather was nice, so the view from the Room was great, and I spent a lot of time looking at the sea during my stay. I was happy to use the private bath several times since it wasn't crowded on weekdays. I would like to use this service again.

    This time, we visited at the end of the year. Despite the cold, we were promptly guided to the parking lot at the entrance, allowing us to park smoothly. Inside the facility, everything was explained and handled with great care. The meals were satisfying in both quantity and quality, and although it was a short stay of one night, thanks to everyone, we had a wonderful time. If we have another opportunity, we would love to visit again. Thank you very much!

    We used it for our annual year-end family trip. It was our first time using it, so we were curious about how it would be, but the staff at the Ryokan were very kind, courteous, and made us feel comfortable. The seafood-based meals were luxurious and delicious. We felt the attentiveness of the staff throughout the Ryokan. The foreign staff also provided excellent service, and we would like to use it again.

    Traffic Information

    It takes 30 minutes by taxi from Atami Station, costing between 3,500 and 4,000 yen. It cannot be reached in the 10 minutes mentioned online! There is no Shuttle Service available. By local train, it costs 200 yen and takes 15 minutes. This was disappointing. Despite prior contact, there was no mention of this situation, and I ended up waiting for a shuttle at Atami Station for 30 minutes.

    Great hospitality, excellent meals!

    Guest Rooms & Amenities: Perhaps because it is a long-established Ryokan, there are some areas where aging is noticeable, but the amenities are solid and cover the aging aspect. If you like a purely Japanese-style Ryokan, you can enjoy the nostalgic and charming taste of old Japan, which is very good. Customer Service: Absolutely no complaints! Even foreign guests were served, but there was no anxiety at all, and it is clear that the higher-ups have thoroughly educated the staff. The attentive care is very pleasing. Onsen & Bath: The natural hot spring water is slightly high in temperature, giving a sense of saltwater bath. Among them, the two private open-air baths offer a superb location with a panoramic view of Atami. It is a luxurious pleasure only for those who stay, truly wonderful. Facility & Equipment: Similarly, there are some areas where aging is noticeable. However, on the contrary, it takes advantage of this to create a charming purely Japanese-style Ryokan taste. Each area is kept clean, and it is clear that careful attention is paid. Dining: I think this is one of the highlights of this Ryokan. The seafood from Atami is served abundantly. Moreover, each dish is seasoned to bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients, so even elderly guests can eat with peace of mind. The breakfast is also quite generous in portion, but it's so delicious that you can finish it all. Satisfaction: Very high. The consideration of the Ryokan staff is truly wonderful, and you will definitely want to come again! The meticulous service is comparable to that of major Ryokans, providing a very comfortable space for guests. It may be slightly expensive in terms of budget, but I think you will be very satisfied with the food, location, and service.

    A very quiet area in Atami. Recommended for those who want to relax.

    Speaking of Atami, it is bustling, but this Property is located in the Atami Ajiro area, just over 10 minutes by train from Atami. It was my first visit, and since it was after experiencing the hustle and bustle of Atami, there were fewer people, and the town had a nice Showa-era atmosphere, allowing for a very relaxing stay. The pride of the Property, the onsen with water directly from the source, was very pleasant. From the private bath on the rooftop, you could enjoy a graceful view of the sea of Atami. The view of the sea from the Room is also spectacular (I included a photo). Each dish was prepared with great care and was very delicious. I went for a walk to the port town of Ajiro early in the morning, and it had a nostalgic atmosphere as if I had time-traveled. I personally really liked the scenery of this town. If I have the chance to come here again, I would definitely like to repeat my stay. If you want to stay quietly and slowly, I recommend this place over the city center.
