A delicious seasonal...
A delicious seasonal full-course meal, even for solo travelers. A luxurious stay with only one group per day. And it’s reasonably priced. The Onsen was free-flowing and felt wonderful. An 11:00 AM checkout was also a welcome bonus. I regretted not booking a Multiple Night Stay. Thank you very much.

I’d love to stay here again.
My husband and I stayed for one night over the weekend. Everything was of high quality, and it made for a very satisfying trip. My husband especially said that having the entire place exclusively to ourselves at this level of quality felt truly special. We would love to visit again, and we appreciate your hospitality.

I felt relaxed again this time.
This was my third stay, and this time I wanted to see the famous cherry blossom avenue, so I checked the bloom forecast and made a Reservation. It had been raining for days, but luckily it cleared up on my way home, and I was able to walk to the station and fully enjoy the cherry blossoms in full bloom—such a wonderful memory. As for the stay itself, I felt so relaxed it was like coming back to my parents’ home. I took a long bath, sipped coffee while reading the novel I’d started, listened to birds through the open window, and looked out at the flowers in the garden—it truly refreshed my mind. The meal you prepared with such care—almost too much for one person—was delicious again this time. I want to come back soon just to eat it again. And seeing Madame wave goodbye with big waves all the way until I turned the corner made me think: I’ll work hard from tomorrow so I can come see you again. It was also a blissful moment when you brought homemade plum wine up to my Room—I enjoyed it slowly before bed and completely unwound. Thank you very much for everything. P.S. The reason I didn’t fill out the Room questionnaire is partly because I lost track of time while relaxing—but honestly, I’m satisfied as things are, so there’s nothing more to add.

Accommodation for guests who want a quiet, relaxing stay
This is an Accommodation that hosts only one party at a time, so you can enjoy the Onsen whenever you like and spend your time quietly and leisurely. The Swedish-style house kept the Room warm. The fresh flowers arranged in the dining area were lovely. The service was polite and pleasant. As for the meals we had been looking forward to, as someone who visits auberge-style Accommodations, I found that dinner—aside from the fish dish—was ordinary in both presentation and taste, and breakfast offered flavorless bread and very standard dishes with no surprises. I felt it would be better to develop a more distinctive menu.

It was an exceptionally satisfying accommodation.
I had a feeling this might be a good Accommodation, but I was a bit uneasy because there were few Reviews on the various travel sites, and even when there were some, many were old—so I decided to visit with some concerns. However, those worries were unnecessary. It seems they have many older guests, and I also felt they likely have many repeat visitors, which may be why there aren’t many Reviews. The service was polite and pleasant, and the food was exceptionally delicious. If you’re going purely for “Instagrammable” photos it might not be what you expect, but everything felt carefully prepared—meant to be enjoyed slowly and properly. We chose a Plan with in-room dining, so it was great to relax in our Room as well. The bath and washroom were spacious and easy to use. Somehow my skin even felt smoother afterward. The amenities were well stocked; we stayed as a couple, and for women they even provided Lululun face masks. The building seems to have some age to it, but it has been kept very clean and well maintained, so comfort was not an issue at all. Overall, I felt the value for money was excellent. I’d love to stay again.

We hope you’ll be feeling your best next time.
Right before the trip, I ended up with a “thrown neck” (a severe version of sleeping wrong?). I couldn’t turn my head, so I gave up on driving and switched to the train. It was disappointing because it threw off various plans—like maybe stopping by Mt. Omuro on the way back—but an occasional train trip was fun too lol. Since I was taking painkillers, I couldn’t fully enjoy the food-and-wine pairing I’d been looking forward to, and only managed 1–2 glasses of wine (and it hurt so much that I had to support my neck and tilt my head back just to drink—lol). The dishes were beautiful and delicious, so next time I definitely want to enjoy more wine. Still, all those negative things were completely outweighed by how relaxing and luxurious the time and space felt. Having only one party at a time is truly a luxury (and yet reasonably priced!). It’s especially appealing to have an Onsen in the Room that you can use anytime. The warm air rising from the fireplace on the first floor also gently warmed the Room. Unfortunately, because of the rain we couldn’t enjoy the view, but by checkout my “sunny-day luck” kicked in and the rain stopped, so we walked back to the station (it’s downhill on the way back, so it was easy). It was a comforting stay that let me forget about hectic everyday life. Next time I want to come back when I’m in perfect condition for a proper do-over lol.

Delicious meals in a cozy, warm Swedish-style house—even in midwinter
I’ve recently become interested in auberges, and since this one offers both Onsen and fine cuisine, I decided to stay at Auberge Millau. What matters most to me is delicious food and a relaxing Onsen, and Auberge Millau delivers on both. On top of that, it was my first time experiencing a “Swedish House”—a building that stays cool in summer and warm in winter—making the stay truly comfortable in every way. Where I live in the greater Tokyo area, the past few days have brought sub-zero lows. In Izu Kogen, despite the name “highland,” it’s a bit further south, so the forecast didn’t call for temperatures below freezing. Even so, it was still the coldest season of the year—and it was amazing that a single wood-burning stove on the first floor kept even the second floor pleasantly warm. Thanks to that warmth, the Kawazu cherry tree planted in the garden went from having a few remaining buds to being almost fully in bloom by the next day. They can get firewood from branches provided by a landscaping company. Since heating usually costs more than cooling (as winter tends to use more electricity), utility bills are often higher in winter—but here it’s apparently the opposite. They only turn on air conditioning when it’s truly too hot (the madam—who also serves as their hostess—said she only started using AC at night for sleeping for the first time last year, which surprised me!). Even so, they said summer utilities are higher because of air conditioner use—and after feeling how warm it was inside, I completely understood why. The second floor warmth comes from radiant heat from the stove pipe on the first floor; it feels gentle on your body. It’s not just warm—it also doesn’t stir up dust, which I found especially appealing. Beyond physical comfort, their hospitality was equally wonderful: tissues and trash bins thoughtfully placed throughout; not only tea and black tea but also several varieties of Nescafé Dolce Gusto. They were so good that my companion and I ended up drinking about four cups each. As you’d expect from an auberge, dinner was excellent—I enjoyed everything from amuse-bouche to dessert. The warm squid amuse-bouche was particularly delicious. They also incorporated what I had written at booking into my fish course request. The A5 Hitachi beef steak for the main course came pre-sliced and was so tender it melted in my mouth; paired with vegetables and sauce, it was outstanding. This is an exceptional auberge limited to one party per day—my stay fully convinced me why its reviews are so highly rated.

I was able to relax and feel refreshed.
This was my second visit since last summer, so I knew my way around. Right after check-in, I made some coffee, picked up the novel I hadn’t finished last time, and relaxed. The scent of the firewood and the flames in the fireplace were soothing, and above all it was truly warm—I could stay comfortable in light clothing. When I stepped outside to leave (just as Madame said), I was surprised by how cold it was; that’s how comfortable it was indoors. This time I chose beef cheek for dinner, and it was tender and easy to eat with no sharp acidity from the red wine sauce. The red wine I had with it (I’m not usually a fan, but wanted to try pairing it with this dish) was mild and easy to drink, making for a very satisfying dinner. I’d been worn out from constant overtime work, but soaking in the Onsen slowly helped me sleep soundly and recharge properly. Since I came mainly for the fireplace, I wasn’t expecting much else—but the Kawazu cherry blossoms in the garden were blooming, and there were also branches arranged in my Room, so I got an unexpected early taste of cherry blossoms. By the next morning they were in full bloom in the warm Room as well; I was so happy that I couldn’t help taking photos. On my way back I walked to the station; being downhill made it easy. When all the cherry blossoms are out, it must be even more beautiful to see. I'd love to visit again in a different season. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Thank you for your patronage.
We enjoyed a Multiple Night Stay during the autumn holiday. It had been a long time since our last visit to Izu, and as expected, it was very busy. Although we arrived later than planned and caused some inconvenience, we were warmly welcomed. The facility was exclusively ours, allowing us to relax and unwind completely. The bath was always at the perfect temperature for enjoyment, and the meals showcased attention to detail in the ingredients; even the homemade bread was delicious. The hostess's warm hospitality made us feel at home, and it's easy to see why there are so many repeat guests. Since only one group is accommodated per day, securing a Reservation might be challenging; however, we would love to visit again in another season. Thank you very much!

A luxurious auberge accommodating only one group per day
Deliciously crafted meals, heartfelt hospitality, and a relaxing Onsen—all were absolutely satisfying. The bathroom and washroom were spacious and impeccably clean. The flower arrangement in the vase was charming and soothing. It became a wonderful memory for our couple's trip. We will definitely stay here again!

Attracted by the tit...
Attracted by the title "One Group Per Day Exclusive Auberge," I made a reservation. It was an even more relaxing and wonderful stay than I had imagined. As soon as I completed the reservation, I received a reply from the accommodation, which gave me a feeling that "this is going to be a great experience." My intuition was right. The moment my taxi arrived in front of the hotel, the hostess warmly welcomed me. Her friendly and attentive hospitality truly made my stay incredibly relaxing. The building is very quiet, likely due to its high insulation quality. The room is perfectly comfortable—not too spacious—with separate living and bedroom areas. My favorite part of the room was the 24-hour circulating onsen bathroom (as someone who isn't fond of large public baths, having a private bath available anytime was perfect). Amenities were well-prepared, with an impressive variety of Nespresso capsules and even Japanese tea with its own pot provided. Small details like various paperback books, fresh flowers arranged in vases, and handmade lace decorations added to my sense of relaxation. I realized how important it is for accommodations to match one's personal preferences. And let’s not forget about the food! While deliciousness goes without saying, each dish was beautifully presented—hot dishes served hot and cold dishes served cold—a true luxury! If I may share one personal thought: breakfast consisted of waffles and scones that felt somewhat like afternoon tea fare. Considering how home bread makers can now bake excellent bread using quality flour these days, it would be delightful if this could be explored (just a humble suggestion...). Lastly, thank you so much for providing me with a handwritten map to the bus stop—it helped me find my way without any trouble. I am deeply grateful for such an amazing time spent here. I've already purchased a circulator fan inspired by this experience!

Recommended for solo travelers.
I love traveling solo, and I’ve had a few occasions where there happened to be no other guests and the place felt private—but this was my first time having the entire Accommodation exclusively to myself from the start. The moment I got out of the taxi and was warmly welcomed, Madame’s smile instantly eased my nerves. A few points I didn’t see mentioned in other Reviews: the charming Swedish-style house is beautiful down to the doors, windows, and fittings. The Room furniture—the table, vanity, and even the desk used as a TV stand—matches perfectly and is simply lovely. From the window, you can enjoy lush garden greenery, a wonderful building across the way, the blue sea, and Izu Oshima. In the morning it wasn’t too hot, so I opened the window and had breakfast while taking in the view. It felt so much like a vacation that I couldn’t help saying, “It’s like Hawaii.” The meals were not only delicious; since I was traveling alone, I also took my time admiring the tableware and cutlery as I ate. Knowing everything was prepared with such care just for me made it feel even more special—and somehow even tastier. The bathroom was another highlight: with the large window wide open, I could soak in the Onsen whenever I liked while enjoying the scenery—pure happiness. The amenities were more than sufficient; honestly, aside from makeup items, I didn’t need to bring anything. If anything, there were some items left unused—being able to choose only what you need might be nice. At night, I relaxed with a capsule coffee machine (my first time trying a KitKat-flavored drink) while reading one of the paperback books in my Room. It made me not want to leave. One more helpful touch: there was also lint tape for clothing—it saved me by removing dust from my black cotton dress. It was such a memorable stay that even after returning home, I’m still savoring it. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy a quiet villa-like getaway on their own.

Repeat decision! The food is excellent!
It was simply the best!! I have stayed at other auberges before, but honestly, the food didn't impress me. Here, from the first bite of the appetizer to the last dessert, it was a continuous stream of happiness. Having more than two warm appetizers was impressive. The soup was also given extra care, with meringue on top. Although it was a simple course, we were able to enjoy both fish and meat, and we were very satisfied. This time it was just the two of us, but we were moved and grateful for the dedication to the cooking just for us. Looking at past reviews, there were some harsh comments about the room and the property, but personally, I was very satisfied. If I were to point out something for future guests, the suite is said to be over 70 square meters, but there are two additional rooms that can accommodate up to six people besides the main room, so I think the 70 square meters is the total of the three rooms. If you only imagine the main room, it might feel small. However, it is spacious enough for two people to stay. The bath is a larger version of a home unit bath, so those looking for a hotel or onsen feel might find it lacking. However, it is spacious enough, and the handrails were easy to use because it is a unit type. It's nice that the onsen is available 24 hours. As future requests, 1. I would like check-in to be at 2 PM or 3 PM. With a 4 PM check-in, there's little time to relax in the room before dinner. 2. Bed width. Personally, it felt narrow. Since there is room in the room, a semi-double would be nice. 3. Amenities. They provide pouches of lotion and emulsion, but there's only one set, so if you use it at night, there's not enough for the morning. I would like them to either provide small bottles or increase the number of pouches. I've written a lot, but it's a property I definitely want to visit again. Next time, I want to go with my parents, making it four of us. Since it's limited to one group per day, reviews don't increase easily, and some may hesitate to book, but it's recommended for those who want to enjoy delicious food and relax in a cozy property. (The room is on the second floor, so please be aware if you require barrier-free access.)

The food is deliciou...
The food is delicious. I booked a plan with a high point discount rate on Ikkyu. I stayed at a reasonable price, but the food was genuinely delicious. The braised pork shoulder Lyonnaise style was particularly tasty. Before the meal started, we were given a wine list in the room, but since I had drunk a lot of wine the previous day, I ordered drinks other than wine. I ordered cocktails. My companion ordered a Miyo cocktail. They said it was delicious. Cocktails are under 1,000 yen. The bath constantly has hot spring water flowing in and is maintained at a moderate temperature, so you can enter anytime you like. I think this is good. Some inns require you to fill the bath even if it's a hot spring, so being able to enter immediately is appreciated. It takes a little time for the shower to produce hot water. Instead of fixed body soap and such, individual amenities are used. The TV in the room is a regular TV. It doesn't have features like YouTube viewing or a DVD player; it's just a regular TV. This is a bit disappointing. There is a small bookshelf in the room. Perhaps because it's an auberge, there are also books related to cooking. I was flipping through some books on French cuisine. We took a taxi to the inn. Like most inns in the Izu Highlands, it's located in a high place, so taking a taxi is a safe choice. The slope is tough. There are few taxis, so you should be careful. We walked back to Izu-Kogen Station. Overall, it's a good inn.
