I think this Accommodation offers great value for money.
The Onsen had several private baths, and we really enjoyed the high-quality water, great views, and relaxing atmosphere. It was a lovely setting where we could unwind in nature. We chose a larger Room, so we were able to spend our time comfortably, and having meals served in a private dining room gave us peace of mind. All of the female staff were polite and calm in their service, but the male staff came across as somewhat curt. The indoor corridors and lobby within the Facility did not seem to be well air-conditioned and felt hot. Also, when we turned on the shower in the Room bath, brown water came out at first, which was surprising. It may not have been used for a while, but we would have appreciated it being checked during cleaning.

Second Stay
I first stayed here in January 2026, and this was my second visit. This time I returned in the season of fresh greenery, and along the several dozen meters from the accommodation building to the separate Onsen building, white citrus blossoms were in full bloom. I was able to enjoy their sweet fragrance while soaking in the Onsen. It’s wonderful that each season brings new discoveries. The meals were consistently high quality, and I was satisfied with both the taste and portion size.

First Stay
It was my first time visiting Yugawara Onsen. I stayed in a semi-suite and was able to relax at a leisurely pace. To reach the open-air bath, true to its name, you walk along a sloped path that passes through a mandarin orange grove. Unfortunately, it was raining and the footing was poor; it was slippery and I felt a bit scared. Because of that, I couldn’t enjoy the scenery, but the next morning I could see the ocean and Hatsushima from the open-air bath, which was very soothing. I’m sure the night view must be beautiful on clear days as well. The Room had simple twin beds and high ceilings, with a spacious layout that made it easy to unwind. On the other hand, the toilet was not a washlet-style toilet and there was quite a large step up/down, so it felt slightly inconvenient. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and I was satisfied. This isn’t related to the Accommodation, but on my way home I saw bagged summer oranges being sold nearby. I left payment as instructed and bought some, but they were dried out inside and disappointing.

Relaxing baths and delicious meals
Since we happened to be the only party with a Reservation, we were able to relax in peace and quiet. The outdoor bath was also very comfortable, but the lying-down bath felt especially wonderful. Because I have trouble with my legs and there were no handrails, going up and down the stairs was a bit difficult. I think it would have been easier to move around if there were handrails. All of the meals were delicious, and the salmon and scallop sauce was so good I wanted to drink it all. For us, as light eaters, the portion sizes were just right, and we enjoyed everything. Thank you very much.

It’s a pension, but at this price, it’s a good value.
My original Reservation was on a day with a heavy snow warning. I got close (about 14 km away), but due to road closures and accidents, I gave up trying to continue while coordinating with the Accommodation. They kindly rescheduled me for the following week, and I stayed then. The Room was fairly spacious, which was nice. There is a step between the area with the bed and sofa and the toilet, so please be careful. Some wallpaper was peeling in places. There is no electric kettle in the Room, but one was available on the stair landing along with tea. There are three Onsen baths: Two outdoors and one indoors. The outdoor Onsen has a great view all the way to the sea and feels wonderful. You can open the door fully, and with the pleasant breeze, it’s best before sunset and in the morning. At night I used the indoor bath. As this is a pension-style property, don’t expect extensive amenities. On the way to the outdoor Onsen, there are various citrus orchards, with lots of delicious-looking fruit fallen on the ground—it felt like such a waste... With permission from the owner, I picked up some of what had fallen and tried it; it was delicious. Dinner was home-style French cuisine. The fish dish in particular (scallops and salmon in cream sauce) was excellent. Overall, flavors were on the rich side. It has a different atmosphere from Yugawara’s main hot spring area. The building isn’t new, but the owner felt warm and hardworking. The price was reasonable as well—overall very good.

It was a great find after a long time.
Perhaps because there were only two groups staying, it was very quiet, and we were able to relax in the bath and enjoy it three times—at sunset, at night, and in the morning. The weather was great, so under the clear winter sky we could gaze at a sky full of stars from the bath. The food was also excellent. It was our first stay here, but we ended up making our next Reservation on the same day we checked in.

Enjoyed the bath.
The dinner, known for its reputation, was delicious but lacked a sense of uniqueness. I did not order the optional spiny lobster. Breakfast was at 8:30 AM (it seemed possible to request an earlier time), which felt a bit late for me. The content was simple but satisfactory overall. Based on reviews, it seemed there were no refills for coffee or bread, so I didn’t ask about it. However, more visitor-friendly service in such areas would be wonderful. The room was small, and since I’m not used to double beds, I couldn’t sleep well. It seems there are twin rooms available as well; missing that option is my own oversight. Being winter, both the room and restaurant felt slightly chilly—perhaps a limitation of the wooden building—but this likely wouldn’t be an issue during warmer seasons. As for the bath, you need to climb through an outdoor mandarin orchard to reach it; however, if you embrace the rustic charm of it all, it's enjoyable enough. I used it upon arrival and again in the morning—it was nice both times. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and still dark before sunrise during my morning visit; wanting to enjoy the first bath of the day made this unavoidable though! I also tried out the indoor bath in the main building—it doesn’t offer much of a view but provided good warmth nonetheless.

The spiny lobster Thermidor is exquisite.
I stayed here because I wanted to see the Yugawara fireworks festival. The Room had charming decor and a small living area where I could relax. There are three baths, all available for private use. The bath beyond the mandarin orchard was especially lovely—I could soak while enjoying the view, and it felt wonderful. I chose a Plan that included lobster thermidor for dinner, and it was absolutely the right choice. It’s a classic dish that you rarely see on restaurant menus these days, so I was happy to enjoy it again after a long time. It was delicious! The Accommodation’s signature dish—pork braised in red wine—was also very tender. It was served with white rice, and the slightly rich sauce paired perfectly with it. At first, I planned to watch the fireworks from the Accommodation, but the owner kindly drove me close to the venue, so I was able to watch beautiful fireworks from the front row by the sea. It became a wonderful summer memory. I also appreciated being picked up afterward. Breakfast the next morning was excellent as well: fluffy bread with homemade citrus jam and juice, a mushroom-and-egg cocotte, salad, and more—everything was delicious and made for a great start to the day. Even after checkout, they drove me to the station, which truly helped. The owner wasn’t very talkative, but he seemed sincere and thoughtful, and I could tell he cared about making guests comfortable. Despite being reasonably priced, my stay was far more comfortable than expected.

A quiet accommodation with excellent French cuisine!
This pension-style Accommodation in the mountains has 8 Rooms, where you can relax in peace while listening to birdsong. The French cuisine prepared by the owner is delicious, generous in portion size, and outstanding. The Onsen offers three private baths, allowing you to unwind and fully enjoy your soak. With this level of service, the Accommodation Fee for one night with two meals for two people comes in under 30,000 yen—an exceptional value.

A relaxing space surrounded by plenty of mandarin oranges
We stayed here after hiking nearby Shiroyama. As it was late March, the garden was filled with fragrant citrus fruit, and we enjoyed the scenic Onsen after walking through it. The meals were delicious, and we also tried a rare mandarin wine. The Room was comfortable, but one suggestion: I got thirsty in the middle of the night and wanted to buy a drink, but the options were mostly alcoholic and there were no tea-based drinks. It would also be nice if ice cream could be purchased outside set hours—perfect after a bath. I would also appreciate a way to have coffee early in the morning before breakfast. (There is self-service hot water and tea bags, so next time I plan to bring instant drip coffee.) The owner kindly shared tips on processing different types of mandarins, and with the banpeiyu he gave us, I made marmalade as soon as I got home. It turned out wonderfully refined and delicious. I also bought various citrus fruits at the Yugawara farmers’ cooperative and made preserved Shonan Gold in syrup. It was a little too late for plum blossoms and slightly too early for cherry blossoms, but being welcomed by so many citrus fruits made it a truly memorable stay.

A Perfect Moment
The bath was excellent! The changing area was very clean and comfortable, and the onsen and view were amazing. The meals were served at our pace, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely dining experience. The room was slightly small but not inconvenient, and we had a comfortable stay. We are very satisfied with choosing this accommodation for our anniversary trip!

The meals were delicious.
Unfortunately, it turned snowy, but we walked from Makuyama Park after viewing the plum blossoms and arrived at the Accommodation. The Facility is not brand-new and sparkling, but it was clean and relaxing. Because of the bad weather, we could only use the indoor bath; with 30-minute time slots, it may be difficult if another guest’s slot is scheduled back-to-back. (Since there was no Reservation in between, we arrived a little early, confirmed no one was there, and then used it.) Dinner started with a draft beer that was exceptionally delicious—everyone was pleased with the carefully poured foam. The meal included both fish and meat dishes and was truly excellent; we felt it offered great value for money. Thank you as well for driving us to Yugawara Station on our departure. We are grateful to have had such a wonderful short trip.

It was a pension.
This is not directed at the Accommodation, but at IKYU.com. I would like you to list it in a way that makes it clear this is a pension/guesthouse. I could have found out by checking the Accommodation’s website, but as someone who chooses where to stay each time based only on the information on IKYU.com, I was surprised when I arrived. After reading information and Reviews on other booking sites, I understood why—but I also felt frustrated that details not shown on IKYU.com were missing, leaving me with mixed feelings.

Delicious cuisine and private baths
I thought it was a Hotel when I made the Reservation, but it felt more like a pension. The Facility had some signs of age, but it was well-cleaned and tidy. The private bath was also very nice. A grasshopper got into the sleeping bath, but since I'm not afraid of insects, I found it soothing to watch the grasshopper. Each of the three baths was unique and good, and the food was very delicious, so I would like to visit again someday. There is a bus to get there, but the number of buses is limited, and there is a slope after getting off, so I recommend taking a taxi. There is a taxi stand in front of the station.

The sleeping bath was the best!
I used the Birthday Plan. The chocolate message was easy to write because it was a transfer type! If you have that paper, you can easily do it at home too. This time, I didn't use the indoor bath, but I used the sleeping bath at night and the observation bath in the morning. I thought the changing room for the sleeping bath was a bit cold, but since you can soak up to your chest, it was warm enough even in November! When lying down, you can only see the ceiling, so if you want to see the view, you need to stand up. But since it's dark (the lantern light creates a great atmosphere), there's no risk of being seen. There was only one shower booth, but it was sufficient, so we didn't use the indoor bath and finished with the sleeping bath. On the way back, when we turned off the lantern in the mandarin field and looked up at the night sky, the stars were beautiful!! Maybe you can enjoy the stars if you turn off the lantern in the sleeping bath too. The next morning, I went to the observation bath. The sun had already risen, but depending on the season, you might be able to see the sunrise! Unlike the sleeping bath, you can see the scenery well while soaking in the bath. There are two shower booths here. There was no water pressure problem in either the sleeping bath or the observation bath. The room's bath is small. The toilet, washbasin, and bathroom were integrated. The toilet seat was cold. It wasn't cold enough to check for a warmlet, so I didn't check that. The toilet door was light, and there was a big vent at the bottom, so I used it while thinking the sound might be a concern, haha. As for the room's hairdryer, it looked a bit... but it dried faster than my ReFa at home, and there was no problem with finger combing. The owner? (a gentleman) was very gentle and easy to talk to! This kind of thing leaves a big impression. His service makes me want to come back. However, the food was... delicious, but... I don't know. It was ordinary. If I have the chance to visit again, staying is fine, but having dinner outside might be an option. Breakfast was at a leisurely 8:30, but it was light, so I could eat lunch normally! There was a review saying there was no tea, but there were tea bags in front of the outdoor bath, and you could choose between coffee and tea at breakfast.
