Immerse yourself in a traditional Japanese atmosphere.
I had been curious about this newly opened ryokan for some time, so I decided to book a stay. Inside, the warm wood and modern Japanese design created a wonderfully calm atmosphere. Natural elements such as water, stone, and greenery added to the understated elegance. The attention to detail made it a comfortable retreat where I could unwind and forget about everyday life. The highlight was the cha-kaiseki dinner, a traditional meal associated with the Japanese tea ceremony. Each dish featured seasonal, mostly local ingredients and was beautifully presented and carefully prepared. The delicate seasoning brought out the ingredients’ natural flavors, and I looked forward to each new course. Finishing with traditional sweets and matcha felt different from a typical ryokan dinner and made the experience especially memorable. The staff were courteous and attentive without being intrusive, helping me feel relaxed throughout my stay. This lovely ryokan offered a luxurious escape, with delicious food and a distinctly Japanese atmosphere. I would love to return in a different season.

We had an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind experience!
The room was wonderful and thoughtfully appointed down to the smallest details, and the in-room hot spring bath was outstanding. Being able to relax and enjoy the hot spring at our own pace, along with delicious meals, made for a truly satisfying stay. We stayed with our family and relatives, bringing two children. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a waterfall, and crossing stepping stones on the way inside added an exciting touch. The welcome drink service—complete with a choice of traditional Japanese sweets—was also a lovely gesture. The room felt spacious even with three beds, offering a refined “modern Japanese” atmosphere. The hinoki-scented bath in the guest room was especially appreciated when traveling with children, as we could enjoy the hot spring whenever we liked. Dinner had a clear concept behind each dish and was said to represent the journey from beginning to end through cuisine. Everything was delicious and generously portioned—each course made us look forward to what came next. On top of that, during dinner our table attendant even entertained our child; we were genuinely moved by such thoughtful hospitality. This is an inn where adults can fully enjoy themselves even when traveling with children. Highly recommended for family trips or travel with relatives—we would love to return.

This inn offered a refined hot spring experience and excellent dining, all surrounded by the natural beauty of Gora.
Unlike hotels with flashy amenities and large on-site facilities, this ryokan felt focused on savoring the stay itself—your room, the hot springs, and the meals—at a relaxed pace. ・Access It’s about a 15-minute walk from the nearest station, Gora Station, but since there are steep slopes typical of Hakone, using the shuttle service is recommended. The shuttle requires advance reservation and makes getting around comfortable. ・Room The room had a modern Japanese design that offered both the calm atmosphere of a ryokan and the comfort of a hotel. The interior was simple and thoughtfully furnished with only what you need; with fewer distractions, it’s easy to truly unwind. The view from the room was also wonderful, letting you feel Gora’s natural surroundings. With views of Hakone’s mountains, you can enjoy different scenery depending on the season. ・Service The staff were attentive and courteous in a way that matched the ryokan’s serene ambiance. On arrival, an original welcome drink and seasonal sweets were prepared—perfect for taking a breather after traveling. Best of all was the 12:00 checkout time, which made for an unhurried morning. ・Dining Dinner is kaiseki-style cuisine featuring mainly local ingredients. Served one dish at a time to be enjoyed slowly, it incorporates seafood from Shonan and Odawara as well as mountain ingredients from areas such as Mishima—making it especially appealing as something you can experience because you’re in Hakone. Ending with sweets and matcha was also memorable; rather than simply “ryokan dinner,” it felt like enjoying one special experience. ・Hot Springs What I liked most about this stay was being able to enjoy hot springs right in the room. There is a private bath in your room so you can soak whenever you like. The water is an acidic sulfate spring sourced from Owakudani, and being able to enjoy such authentic Hakone hot springs in complete privacy felt truly luxurious. Although it’s a newer ryokan, its attention to space design and service really shows—I had an overall highly satisfying stay.

The hot spring and breakfast are amazing!
I requested a pick-up from the station the day before, and they kindly accommodated me. There are no shops around the hotel or inside the property, but in the room there were four delicious-looking drinks, some simple snacks, several kinds of tea, and tasty-looking sweets (all free), which really impressed me. The amenities and loungewear were also lovely. The hot spring was kept at a consistent temperature at all times, so I could easily enjoy it again and again—it was wonderful. Most of all, I was moved by the breakfast... The rice cooked in a clay pot was so good that I wanted to take it home as onigiri. This time I booked with breakfast included, but I might want to try dinner too. I’d love to come back again.

Accommodation with delicious meals
Dinner was very delicious and we were completely satisfied. Breakfast was also tasty, but it would have been even better if there had been a small dessert at the end. It would have been helpful to have detailed in-Room information (an instruction guide). The Onsen was very relaxing, but the mirror was positioned too high, so as a shorter woman I couldn’t see myself at all even when standing on tiptoe. I wish it were a full-wall mirror there instead of a small round one. All of the staff were friendly and pleasant, and we would like to visit again.

It’s clean.
It is located partway up an extremely steep hill. As it has just opened, the entire Accommodation was very clean. It seems they plan to expand further, and the surrounding area was under construction. The staff still seemed inexperienced, but everyone worked very hard and left a good impression. However, I would like them to learn the dish explanations a bit better, and if that’s difficult, I’d prefer they at least read from notes so the information is accurate. I felt nervous just listening. The in-Room bath had a subtle hinoki scent and was very relaxing. From the balcony, you can clearly see the bath (open-air bath) on the floor below. Bathing wear is provided, but please be careful. Also, although it is a four-story building, there is no elevator—an unusually non-accessible design by today’s standards—so please keep that in mind. There were few guests, so it was quiet and relaxing, but I don’t think I would stay again. Also, IKYU’s Hotel details stated “in-Room PC/tablet,” but when I asked the staff, they said “we don’t have anything like that.”

A guaranteed repeat stay—enjoy a tea kaiseki experience inspired by tea and the Tokaido Road!
[From Check-in to the Room] We arrived by car and were warmly welcomed. After check-in, we were escorted to our Room while enjoying tea and sweets. [Attractions] We chose one of the two activities and whisked matcha ourselves, then enjoyed tea on the Sky Corridor for a perfect digital detox. There was also a surprise arranged by my wife and the staff for me, which truly moved me—thank you so much. [Dinner] As the title suggests, the meal featured carefully selected ingredients gathered along the Tokaido route and a strong focus on water quality. We’ve enjoyed excellent cuisine at many places (Sekaie, Miwa, Karaku, Mayufutahari, Honbako, Hoshino Resorts, etc.), but this surpassed them all. From the dashi to rice served multiple ways with different textures and aromas, everything delighted all five senses—and our conversation with the staff made time fly by. Personally, I especially loved the rare bonito cutlet and Tajima-Gen beef shabu-shabu with chilled chawanmushi. [Breakfast] It began with wake-up tea. We had two kinds of dried fish (including horse mackerel), both outstanding. As with dinner, rice cooked in a clay pot was excellent—not only as white rice but also as crispy scorched rice enjoyed in hot water (“kogashi-yu”), which was a new discovery for us. Personally, I especially enjoyed the dried fish and simmered vegetables. [Room] A functional Room with thoughtful touches such as aroma oil for stone warming and three types of tea. Since it’s designed for digital detoxing there is no TV. We relaxed slowly in the semi-open-air bath in our Room. [Service] Everyone provided exceptional service—from those who helped arrange our surprise from Reservation through arrival day, to those who whisked matcha together with us as beginners; from dinner service by someone who shared my wife’s name to breakfast staff who kindly accommodated an unexpected request. Each moment became a lasting memory. [Overall] We will definitely return—next time in autumn or spring would be ideal. With such comfortable hospitality from everyone here, this Accommodation is deeply soothing and easy to recommend. Since it has only recently opened up: personally speaking it would be nice to have insect screens on the outer windows by the semi-open-air bath; also given how much care goes into tea and ingredients it might be great to have a small space where guests can buy souvenirs such as tea leaves teaware or dried fish as keepsakes.
