The 50 m² room was a...
The 50 m² room was as spacious as a junior suite, with plenty of space to spread out our luggage. It was easy to move around and very comfortable. Controlling everything via the tablet was convenient. I wish there had been a stool by the entrance door. The drinks, alcohol, and light snacks in the lounge—carefully selected with a focus on local Kyoto products—were all delicious, and we enjoyed them while relaxing. The staff kindly recommended items to us, and we ended up spending more time there than in our room. The amenities were unified with a hinoki (Japanese cypress) scent, which was very soothing. The shampoo left my hair feeling stiff, so I used my own instead. The location is great and it’s very reasonably priced—I’ve already made another reservation.

An inn you’ll want to stay at again and again
Each time I visit Kyoto, I stay at a different Accommodation, and only reused a Hotel near the station because it was convenient for picking up my luggage on the way home. However, “Gion Gensho” truly offers outstanding service and hospitality, and I definitely want to stay again. I’ve also found a favorite restaurant nearby, so I’ll be back again soon.

Both the Room and the lounge were excellent.
We stayed for three nights. Located near Yasaka Shrine, with sightseeing spots such as Chion-in, Kodaiji, and Kiyomizu-dera within walking distance—perfect for a morning stroll. There are also plenty of buses, so we didn’t feel inconvenienced at all. The Room was lovely, and I was truly impressed—thanks to the Repronizer hair dryer and Bamford amenities, my hair became so soft and fluffy! There isn’t a bath chair in the Room, but they kindly lent us one when we asked. Although it’s listed as no meals included, the lounge available from 7:00 to 24:00 is exceptionally well stocked. In the morning I especially loved the chocolate bread and yogurt; at night, the beef prosciutto and canelé were my favorites—I ended up having them almost every day during our stay. The drink selection is also great, with unique beers, sake, wine, gin, and whisky, plus plenty of non-alcoholic options. The sparkling water made by Kizakura using Fushimi water was incredibly delicious—I kept drinking it throughout the day after mixing drinks with it (haha). You can also borrow a tray and take lounge food and drinks back to your Room. The only downside was that the laundry facilities are about a 9-minute walk away. Since we often do Multiple Night Stays as a family, having laundry in the Hotel would be helpful—but this is an Accommodation with only a small number of Rooms, so perhaps we should just be grateful there’s one within walking distance. Overall—especially considering what’s included in the lounge—the value for money is excellent. The staff were kind and approachable as well. It was a very comfortable Accommodation where we felt at home. We’d love to stay again.

As it has only just ...
As it has only just opened, this was my first stay. The location is excellent—you can take a leisurely walk to Kodaiji Temple and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and it’s also easy to head over to Gion Hanamikoji and Pontocho, so I think it’s a very convenient base for sightseeing in Kyoto. When I arrived at the Hotel, all of the staff were extremely polite, and it was immediately clear how well trained they are. The service felt truly upscale, and I had a very pleasant stay. Since it was a special occasion, I stayed in the King Suite. Not only was the Room spacious, but even the balcony was wonderfully large. There were chairs as well, so you can really relax. What surprised me most was the authentic sauna that fits two people! Next to it is a cold plunge bath with 24-hour circulation, and if you open the door further inside, there’s an impressively large open-air bath. I’d recommend allowing about an hour to fill it with hot water. This is just my personal opinion, but I thought that if I had brought swimwear, I might have enjoyed it even more... The amenities were also very well stocked—I was surprised they even provided floss picks. And I was happy because the hair dryer was a “Repronizer,” which I’d been wanting to try for some time. On the first floor there is a lounge area that you can use freely at any time, including alcoholic beverages. Snacks such as beef prosciutto are also provided, so this time there was no need for me to bring anything in. I heard that breakfast is “not available,” but since they had three kinds of bread and more prepared, personally it felt like they could describe it as “light refreshments available.” Overall, this was a wonderful Hotel—very comfortable and thoughtfully detailed throughout. This may have been my first stay here, but it’s definitely a Hotel I’d love to return to.

A convenient and wonderful Hotel!
This Hotel opened last month, and everything is spotless. I was impressed to be able to use the latest appliances (TV, humidifier, hair dryer, etc.). All the staff were kind and welcoming. The lounge was kept clean no matter what time I went, and the financiers, prosciutto, and juices were delicious. There was also a great selection of alcoholic drinks. I’m not much of a drinker, but the yuzu and plum juices with sparkling water were perfect. In the morning, there were tasty bread and yogurt available as well—just right for a light breakfast. As you’d expect from a small luxury Hotel, the lounge offerings were high quality too. I had a wonderful time here. I’ve found a new favorite Hotel in Kyoto.
