    Traveling with a 3-year-old and a 0-year-old baby

We decided on a spontaneous one-night trip to Atami at my husband’s suggestion! Since we were traveling with a child and wanted a Japanese-style room, we chose this Hotel. In the end, there wasn’t a single thing that caused us trouble, and we were able to spend our time feeling safe and at ease. Our 8-month-old baby, who is crawling around to explore, thoroughly enjoyed every corner of the step-free Room. It was spotless and very clean, and aside from the humidifier there weren’t any appliances using outlets. There was also no sharp-cornered furniture—just a simple Room that felt completely safe. What I appreciated most was having a small sink in the corner with the electric kettle in addition to the washbasin area. Since it’s above the refrigerator, everything from preparing formula to washing bottles was as smooth as at home, which made our stay extremely comfortable. This time we also borrowed child items: an auxiliary toilet seat, a step stool, and waterproof sheets. I rated hospitality/service one star lower only because it rained and we couldn’t use Facilities like the rooftop terrace or footbath. It’s due to the weather so it doesn’t really feel like something to deduct points for—but if I had to mention anything, that would be it. I’d love to stay here again on our next trip to Atami.

A Sumitomo Realty & Development Group Hotel

For our stay in Atami, we chose the Hotel “Village Atami,” newly opened in August 2026. While enjoying a welcome drink (the mandarin orange juice was delicious), we admired the celebratory orchid displays and the names of the companies that sent them. With the beautifully arranged front garden, cicada songs, and even a footbath, our excitement kept building. This time we stayed in a Room on the 8th floor (of 9). The view all the way to Hatsushima was wonderful, and watching the boats come and go was a delight. What impressed us most was how thoughtful everyone on the 1st floor was. Thank you for such a lovely stay. The Room had four beds with no extra bed needed. It wasn’t a connecting room, but our family of four could sleep side by side. The high ceiling and spacious layout were fantastic, and the TV matched the Room size with an impressively large screen—perfect. The balcony was also wide with a great view; I’d love to stay in this Room again. The calm interior design—like what you see at Sumitomo Realty & Development’s residences and hotels—paired with modern furnishings. There were two sinks in the vanity area, a roomy walk-in closet, and even a mini-kitchen, so it’s also recommended for longer stays. In the large public bath, both haircare items and basic skincare were from “uka,” and it was my first time using that showerhead model as well as those dryers. It was nice being able to try new amenities. Meals were buffet-style for both breakfast and dinner, but for two days it was exactly the same menu. Given Atami’s seaside setting, we expected sashimi; however, aside from salmon carpaccio there wasn’t much raw fish beyond some appetizers. For a Multiple Night Stay, I think you won’t get bored if you go out to nearby places for seafood such as beachside grilling or sushi. That said, there were plenty of highlights: freshly fried seafood skewers came with dedicated sauces depending on what you chose—or truffle salt—with even a smoked presentation effect. The pork and beef steaks were well seasoned; there were many small appetizers plus two kinds of soup, along with a wide variety of dishes and desserts. (Soft drinks are free; alcohol is paid.) Two minor points: the hairbrush felt too soft to detangle well, and the provided pajamas are made of fabric that feels hot in summer—bringing your own might be better.

Sumitomo Realty & Development Group Hotel

During my stay in Atami, I visited “Village Atami,” a Hotel that opened in August 2026. It was great that four of us could sleep in four separate beds without using an extra bed. The calm, modern interior typical of the Sumitomo Realty & Development group was very comfortable. The Room also features double sinks, a spacious walk-in closet, and a mini kitchen, making it ideal for longer stays. We chose meal plans for both nights, but since both breakfast and dinner are buffet-style, the food is tasty yet the menu is exactly the same each day, so it may be better to avoid booking meals for consecutive nights. As this is Atami, I was hoping for more Japanese-style sashimi as well, but there was only something like salmon carpaccio; on the second day, it seemed like a good idea to dine out nearby—such as at a sushi restaurant. This time we stayed on the 8th floor and enjoyed a great view all the way to Hatsushima, watching boats come and go. Thank you to all the staff for your wonderful hospitality and for such a pleasant stay.

    It was great!

The Room was spacious and clean! The bath was not crowded, so it felt comfortably sized, and I was satisfied with the wide variety of drinks available in the changing area. Since there were no staff on the rooftop terrace when I used it after check-in, I would feel more at ease if someone could be present, even just by making regular rounds. Overall, including the footbath on the first floor, I am very satisfied.

    We had a relaxing stay.

I stayed for one night by myself. It was very calm and relaxing. I couldn’t use the bedside wake-up call, but I really appreciated that the toilet and washbasin were separate, and that there was air conditioning I could adjust myself. The washing area in the large public bath was narrow, and unfortunately I couldn’t avoid other guests’ shampoo and water flowing over to my space.

    It was new and clean.

This Hotel still feels like it’s finding its way. It’s unusual not to offer steamed white rice or miso soup at breakfast. Only the egg station was a live kitchen, but since one male staff member—looking visibly unhappy—was handling the omelets alone, a line formed and it didn’t make me feel like ordering. I hope both the service and operations will improve going forward.

Since it was a pre-opening period, it may have been unavoidable, but too many guests arrived at the breakfast venue early, causing confusion. I think it would be better to assign breakfast times in several time slots at check-in.

    A stylish new Hotel

I visited during the pre-opening and truly appreciate all your help. The Room was a standard twin, but it was spacious and comfortable. The meals were beautifully presented with great color and were delicious. However, since it seems to be French-style, I understand to some extent, but I was disappointed that there were no Japanese dishes at all. For the breakfast buffet, could you please offer at least steamed white rice, grilled fish, and miso soup? I also heard other guests saying the same. On departure, I asked for a taxi to the station, but someone who requested one after us got in first. A front desk staff member said it was because the taxi company was different. Since we did not specify a taxi company, I would like taxis to be boarded in order of arrival. That aspect of hospitality concerned me a little. I love Atami and have stayed at other Hotel properties many times, but this was my first time at a Hotel without Shuttle Service to the station. The view from the restaurant and the large public bath were very satisfying, so if those points can be improved, I would like to stay again. Thank you in advance.

We were able to relax and unwind in a wonderful space.

We stayed in Atami with our family for the first time in a while. We had a comfortable stay and enjoyed both the open-air bath and the sauna. We booked breakfast only, but there was a wide variety of menu options, and plenty of drink choices including coffee. It was our children’s first time in Atami, and they seemed to have a great time—they said they want to come again, which made us very happy as parents.

    We were very satisfied.

We stayed as a family in a Junior Suite Room. The front desk staff were very pleasant and courteous. The Room was wonderful. It was spacious, and all the furniture suited our taste, so everyone was happy. We would love to stay again if we have the chance. It would have been helpful to have a place to hang used towels. Also, the chair in the washroom was too low and not very practical to use. That said, it was truly lovely.

Stay in a Deluxe Quad Room

We stayed in a Deluxe Fourth Room with No Meals Included. The high ceiling, great ocean view, and chic, calming interior were wonderful. With four beds, no one in our family had to settle for an extra bed, and it was very comfortable. There were also two sinks, and the toilet was conveniently located outside the Room. We were surprised to find a walk-in closet. The Onsen facilities are simple—an indoor bath, open-air bath, sauna, and cold plunge—but the amenities were UKA and high quality, and the showers were Mirable. Having each item thoughtfully selected made our stay noticeably more comfortable little by little. Even with No Meals Included, there were plenty of dining options nearby due to the location, so we had a great time. Thank you very much.

I stayed here with friends. Both the lobby and the Room were very clean, and we had a very comfortable stay. The beach, convenience store, and restaurants were all nearby, so we were able to fully enjoy the area around the Hotel. I would love to stay again if I have the chance. Thank you!

    Streamlined Hotel

We stayed here for a family trip during the pre-opening period. Although it was before the official opening, the operations were already well established, and the staff moved efficiently with no wasted effort, which I found excellent. The service is designed to deliver high satisfaction with a minimal number of staff members. If I had to mention areas for improvement, it would be that at check-in, the self-service kiosk requires signatures for each guest in the party. Also, because everything is highly streamlined, the concept can feel a bit lacking. For a standard stay, however, it is a Hotel that compares well with others.

All the staff were kind and very helpful.

The assigned Room was on the 4th floor. The TV in the Room was large and had apps installed, so I could watch Prime Video and ABEMA. Judging from how much body wash and toilet paper had been used, it seemed likely that someone had stayed in the Room before me. The upper inside of the bathtub felt rough, but after scrubbing it, it became shiny clean. Also, I thought there was a bug on the lace curtain, but it turned out to be a round black stain. I have video from when I entered the Room showing that I did not cause it. The one star for meals reflects not the food itself but how uncomfortable the seating arrangement at dinner was. I was placed at a so-called “buffer” two-person table between a four-person table and a two-person table, and the spacing between tables was so tight that only one person could barely pass through. It felt very uncomfortable, and I ended up eating like a robot just trying to get through it. At breakfast I was guided to the same buffer seat area again, so I explained what happened at dinner and asked (selfishly) to be moved; as a result, I enjoyed a delicious breakfast comfortably at a four-person table. This time it was a pre-opening stay with an excellent rate including both dinner and breakfast, so I accepted this response. By the way, dinner is said to be 8,000 yen and breakfast 3,000 yen. There were long lines for omelets and for the coffee machine at breakfast, but everything else kept being replenished quickly, which was good. I especially liked the French toast (caramel & banana); it was very tasty. Please note that loungewear is not allowed for either dinner or breakfast. As for the rooftop terrace: yes, the view was nice. However, isn’t it unacceptable to serve juice or alcohol without any shade? Around 3:30 p.m., the juice had become room temperature. Adding ice does not solve that issue. Perhaps because I went early in my time slot, there were no snacks like those shown in promotional images (though they are just images). If using public transportation: on arrival you get off at Ginza bus stop along the coast and walk about 4 minutes; on departure Ginza bus stop is convenient—turn left after exiting from the Hotel’s main gate and it’s about 1 minute away. I had never stayed with Villa Fontaine before; for this stay I installed their app, joined membership status, and used it for check-in—it’s very convenient. It seems this Hotel choice simply wasn’t right for me personally; after returning home I canceled my membership status and uninstalled it anyway. Thank you for your help during my stay.
