    A Hotel That Divides Opinions

    Had I known in advance, I think I would have reconsidered staying. There is no in-room phone and no TV, which felt inconvenient. It seems the building may have been renovated from a retreat facility, but there is no ceiling paneling, and when lying on the bed it was in my line of sight and bothered me. Water that overflowed in the bathroom leaked into the washroom even with the door closed, so I had to replace the mat multiple times and couldn’t relax much. Drinks available inside the property, the Room refrigerator items, tea and dried sweets in the tea room, and paired drinks at dinner are all-inclusive. For those who like that style, it may be good value for money; however, for guests who prioritize dinner and breakfast quality or want to drink as much of whatever they like with their meals, it may feel a bit lacking. Preferences will likely vary.

    An Accommodation where you can enjoy an extraordinary escape

    We stayed here for our summer trip. We were searching during a busy season, so we felt lucky to be able to Reserve this Hotel! The interior was very clean and stylish, likely because it only opened in 2025. After check-in, there was a tea service where we could enjoy “Chaen,” plus a complimentary tea lounge, and a bar at night—there were plenty of experiences beyond just staying overnight, which we really appreciated. The in-room amenities were also well stocked. We booked a Plan with breakfast included, and the breakfast menu was very gentle on the body—like it could Clear away the overindulgence that often comes with traveling. It was delicious. That said, there were a couple of things that confused us during our stay: the shower sometimes only ran cold water, and even the flowing Onsen bath turned cold at times, so it was difficult to figure out how to use the bathroom properly. We would have appreciated an explanation about the hot-water system in advance. We also wished there had been instructions in the room for setting up the speaker. Since it hasn’t even been open for a year yet, we expect it will continue to improve into an even better Hotel. Overall, though, it was a very satisfying stay even for just one night. Next time, we’d like to stay on a Plan that includes dinner pairing and an open-air bath experience.

    Great service and a wonderful atmosphere.

    The building, Rooms, and all shared areas are stylish and spotless. The services and meals are excellent. There is nothing around the Hotel, so I was able to relax quietly in the in-room Onsen.

    Tea service

    This Onsen Hotel had a unique concept centered around rare teas. Dinner was Japanese-style French cuisine, and breakfast was a slightly arranged traditional Japanese set meal, both of which were satisfying. If possible, it would be nice to have a large public bath.

    I visited for a confectionery demonstration.

    This Hotel’s signature experience is “Kaen,” a pairing of modern wagashi supervised by a wagashi artisan and tea brewed right in front of you, so as someone who loves wagashi, I was excited even before my visit. We arrived at 1:00 p.m. and joined the Kaen session starting at 1:30 p.m. At that time it was completely private for just us, so we could relax and enjoy it without worrying about anyone else. I rarely drink Japanese tea in everyday life, but during Kaen the staff member explained the tea leaves and brewing methods in great detail, which helped me rediscover how profound Japanese tea can be—and made it taste even better. We had gyokuro → sencha → hojicha in that order, and the hojicha in particular—roasted on the spot and then carefully brewed step by step—had an aroma and flavor so wonderfully toasty that it was unlike anything I’d ever had before. We were too full to use the tea lounge or bar, but if you love tea or still have room after Kaen, I think you’ll enjoy your stay even more. Because this is a concept Hotel specializing in tea, as others have said, impressions may differ greatly depending on whether you’re interested in tea or not. In our case, my husband—who has little interest in tea or wagashi and places more importance on a Hotel’s functionality, the view from the Room, and food—seemed left with some dissatisfaction. For example: - The view from the window is blocked by landscaping when seated (and the balcony is dirty). - Exposed wiring on the ceiling. - No internal phone; web calling via QR code meant we couldn’t hear the other person’s voice at all. - The toilet and sink (with no partition) plus bath are all crammed into an extremely small space; very inconvenient and stressful (not usable by two people at once). - The fusion-style cuisine (not French) has interesting ideas, but while it looks good for photos, the flavor doesn’t match. That said, every staff member was very pleasant; whenever we asked for drink refills or extra towels they brought them right away. Also, if you fully open the door on the balcony side of the indoor bath (there’s a screen door so insects won’t come in), it becomes an open-feel scenic bath. The quality of the free-flowing Onsen water was excellent—we were delighted to find an Onsen with a strong sulfur scent again and plenty of yunohana drifting through—and we both thoroughly enjoyed soaking countless times.

    Relax with Japanese tea

    This was my second stay, following last month. A carefully curated Japanese tea experience with three types of tea and traditional sweets. In a wonderful setting, sencha, oolong tea, and Japanese black tea were brewed right in front of us, and the time spent enjoying them with thoughtfully selected sweets was truly soothing. In the lounge as well, the teas change throughout the day—afternoon, evening, and morning—and sweets are also provided, making it easy to relax at a leisurely pace. Dinner was excellent in presentation, taste, and portion size. The pairing of alcohol or non-alcoholic drinks blended with tea felt fresh and unique—something I haven’t found at other Accommodations. Breakfast was also gentle on the stomach; rice porridge with tofu was served in an earthenware pot. The bath is small but located in the Room, so you can enjoy it as many times as you like without any concern. The amenities were a step above. There’s no TV, but there is a lovely speaker that can be connected to your smartphone to listen to music. Thank you to all the staff for their smiles and for sincerely doing their best to accommodate our requests.

    A wonderful Hotel with great hospitality!

    It was a truly wonderful Accommodation. After check-in, there was a tea and Japanese sweets presentation called “Kaen,” and I was amazed to discover how delicious the tea was. Drinks were complimentary in the Room and at the bar, and the staff were friendly and very pleasant. The entire Hotel is themed around “tea,” and dinner also included a free-flow selection—one after another, tea-inspired cocktails were served, which made it great fun. It was genuinely a luxurious, indulgent dinner experience, and among all the Hotel dinners I’ve had so far, this one definitely left an outstanding impression. The only reason I rated the guest room lower is that while it’s a stylish designer Hotel and the open-air bath in the Room was extremely relaxing, the lighting in the Room was far too dim (especially at night), which was inconvenient. Also, the sulfur smell from the Onsen was quite strong; even inside the Room it lingered constantly, so for those who are sensitive to it, it may feel quite uncomfortable. It can’t really be helped, though...

    It may not be to everyone’s taste.

    About once a month, I stay at various Hotels and Ryokans with an open-air bath in the Room. What I enjoyed and thought was great: The tea gathering event after check-in (the staff member who explained it was wonderful) The view and water quality from the Room’s open-air bath A different style of cuisine than usual Tofu porridge in the morning Being able to compare several types of Japanese tea However, when it comes to whether this Hotel is truly relaxing, there were quite a few things that bothered me. Because it retains elements of a renovated building, the exposed concrete feels cold, and sounds and voices echo through the corridors. There were also meaningless numbers written on the concrete. The doors are heavy and stiff, and to get into the open-air bath there are no steps or stairs—you have to step over a fairly high edge—so compared with other Rooms I’ve stayed in, it wasn’t very user-friendly. The washbasin area is small and combined with the toilet; the shower room is spacious but only has a standing shower. There’s no internal phone either—if you need anything you scan a QR code and use chat… Overall, it didn’t feel like a place to spend time slowly, comfortably, and at ease. Even though it’s described as all-inclusive, pairings seem fixed and they don’t really consider guests’ needs. Of course they will accommodate you if you ask, but if it’s your first time it’s hard to understand. It felt like a casual Hotel: tea-themed with an exposed-concrete renovation concept.

    A one-of-a-kind recommended Hotel

    KUON’s concept is “a place where people in their 20s and 30s can feel a little more grown-up than yesterday.” This time, we’re sharing our impressions from the perspective of guests in our 50s and above, including tips for an even more comfortable stay. [An Outstanding Experience] 1) The food is exceptional! Above all, we were truly impressed by the chef’s cuisine. Each dish—unlike anything you’ll find at other hotels—was so beautifully presented that it made us gasp “Wow!” The combinations of ingredients were fresh and creative, and everything was delicious. A full 11-course menu (including two desserts) comes with a pairing: one drink for every two dishes, totaling about 5–6 drinks (non-alcoholic options available). 2) You can travel light With amenities provided—including a Dyson hair dryer—as well as loungewear, tabi socks, and slippers, we were able to relax comfortably without bringing much. 3) All-inclusive Drinks in the in-Room refrigerator are free, with a wide selection including alcohol. We also enjoyed yuzu tea served at night in the lounge, along with nuts and chocolate. 4) Enjoy flowing Onsen water in your Room Being able to enjoy natural Onsen water flowing directly into the bath anytime you like is a major highlight. Even in a Standard Room, opening the window creates a semi-open-air bath experience—and it was great that you can close the window if insects are an issue. [Tips for an Even More Comfortable Stay] 1) Getting to the Hotel The Hotel is located slightly away from tourist areas, up a narrow and steep road without sidewalks. If you have concerns about walking or if the weather is bad, taking a taxi from the station is recommended. 2) Bath setup There are no handrails by the bath area and the stool is on the smaller side, so older guests may want to take extra care. 3) Seating for meals The dining area offers both table seating and counter seating with high chairs. If you’d like to dine at ease or if you’re older, requesting “table seating” in advance will give peace of mind. 4) For light eaters The pairings are excellent but add up to quite a bit of liquid. If you don’t eat much or prefer fewer drinks, it helps to share your preferences regarding drink quantity ahead of time. [Helpful items to bring] - Coffee (recommended if you’re particular about it) - Post-bath loungewear (there are no bathrobes; having your own makes things more comfortable) - Earplugs (recommended if noise bothers you) [Summary] This was a highly satisfying stay that made us want to return for its relaxed pace and outstanding cuisine. A truly one-of-a-kind Hotel we’d love to visit again in another season.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    After reading various Reviews, we arrived early, joined the tea demonstration, enjoyed tea in the lounge, and after dinner also used the bar lounge—everything was wonderful. Since check-in is early, check-out is also early, but leaving the Hotel before it gets crowded makes it easy to start the day. Sometimes a 10:00 check-out is actually nice. The nightwear was very comfortable, and the tabi socks were good quality. I was happy to find sparkling water in the fridge. There were more drinks than we could finish. Dinner was elaborate and quite adventurous—delicious. It must have taken a lot of detailed work; thank you to everyone who prepared it. The portions were a bit large for us so we left a little, but we really enjoyed it. The abalone dish was our favorite. Breakfast was also delicious and we finished everything. I’d like to mention three things that stood out. I told a staff member at check-out, but there was an odor in the elevator that bothered me. Also, I would like a screen door in the Room. And at breakfast, since we were seated closest to the kitchen, we could hear an exchange between someone who seemed to be a chef and another staff member. The content was very upsetting to hear and it hurt my heart. I’m sure there are various circumstances, but guests should not be able to hear that kind of conversation. A different staff member on our side turned up the music volume so voices from inside wouldn’t carry. Other than that, our stay was very comfortable and it made for a great girls’ trip. The tea demonstration was also wonderful—please keep up the good work.

    This is a very stylish Accommodation, but...

    Although it is a renovated property and there are some worn areas, the furnishings and overall sense of style were wonderful. All of the tea was delicious—the tea time on the first day was especially great. However, whether the stay itself was comfortable is a bit harder to say. First, the meals—which make up a large part of overall satisfaction—were not tasty. It felt like flavor had been sacrificed for appearance. Hard, crispy decorative elements were used throughout to create height in the plating; unnecessary ingredients seemed added purely for looks; and perhaps because plating took so long, most dishes arrived almost cold. Because they were difficult to eat, cutlery noise echoed unnecessarily loudly. Despite the highly crafted visuals, the taste was not good. In contrast to how flashy the food looked, other guests also seemed to be eating rather matter-of-factly. The dishes felt like ordinary ingredients made to look “sparkly,” and I simply couldn’t find myself saying they were delicious. The Room also had a nice atmosphere, but it needs more thought to be truly comfortable. To start with, there is no step or separation where you take off your shoes—the entry is level with the Room—so outdoor shoes and indoor slippers ended up mixed together behind the door, and I repeatedly found myself accidentally walking around in outdoor shoes. The loungewear/pajamas are standard-issue: heavy synthetic fabric that clings to your skin. Even though this Accommodation is meant for enjoying an Onsen, there was no bathrobe. You can manage without one by using a bath towel instead, but only one bath towel per person was provided so it wasn’t enough. They did bring extra when requested, but it didn’t match what this Room seems intended to offer. As for tea—one of this Accommodation’s highlights—the tea leaves in the Room were very good as well, but it’s difficult to discard used leaves if you want multiple infusions. Even when you want to pour everything out while it still tastes best, the teacups are too small to do so fully. I also couldn’t figure out how to operate the kettle; I ended up searching online for instructions just so I could boil water. The semi-open-air bath is somewhat tricky when adjusting water temperature; that’s within reason. What bothered me more was that flowers that attract bees were planted in a flowerbed right next to the tub area. I don’t think those plants are essential landscaping choices here. During daytime there were constantly 5–6 bees nearby—and sometimes more than 10 flying around close by—which made bathing frightening (I’m not good with insects in general). Finally: we stayed two nights, but on day two many things felt sloppier than on day one—it gave an impression corners had been cut. At this price point, a stay that makes you want to return needs comfort at every touchpoint. I’ve listed many issues here not as criticism for its own sake, but in hopes they will be taken as areas with room for improvement going forward.

    Comfortable!

    Thank you for a truly comfortable stay. The staff’s thoughtful attention, and the clean, relaxing Room where we could unwind, were wonderful. The unique variety of ways to enjoy tea and the tastings paired with the meals were also excellent. And the many impressive creative dishes were unforgettable! Also, I was very happy with the birthday surprise you arranged. This has become my favorite Accommodation, and I would definitely like to stay again when I visit Hakone next time.

    I’d prefer classic French cuisine.

    The Facility is new and clean, the service was good, and we enjoyed the welcome Japanese tea. Above all, the Onsen was wonderful—we could fully enjoy the free-flowing hot spring water while taking in views of Mt. Kintoki and having complimentary drinks.\nThe only disappointment was dinner: a creative French course with Japanese elements. If it’s French, I wanted authentic French flavors with more thoughtful creativity. If the dinner improves, I’d love to return.

    While enjoying tea and the Onsen

    Hakone—Gora in particular—has recently seen a growing number of wonderful Accommodations thanks to renovations and new builds. KUON Hakone Gora is one such Accommodation, newly opened last November after a recent renovation. Since it is produced by Openhouse, well known for detached homes, I was excited to see what kind of place it would be. Although it is in Gora, it is located far from the usual Hakone Tozan Railway and cable car stations, so I took a bus from Odawara. As with buses anywhere (not just in Hakone), timing can be unpredictable; this time as well it took a bit longer than expected, but I still managed to check in right on time. Check-in starts at 1:00 p.m., which is quite early, and they welcomed me with hospitality that included three kinds of tea and two types of traditional sweets. I enjoyed sencha, Japanese black tea, and oolong tea along with delicious chef-made sweets. It was also fun to hear their explanations while the tea was being prepared. The Room features exposed concrete walls and ceilings. The ceiling in my Room was especially high and beautifully curved. As for the bath—amazingly, it is free-flowing hot spring water directly from the source. With no circulation fittings inside the tub, it felt truly relaxing. I stayed in a Standard type Room without an open-air bath, but since there was a large floor-to-ceiling sliding door leading out to the balcony, leaving the window open allowed me to enjoy it like a semi-open-air bath. It was such a pleasant surprise. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious; dinner in particular was fascinating because you can watch parts of the cooking process as well. There is also a Tea lounge where you can enjoy tea and sweets throughout the day. The space where you receive the three teas and two sweets becomes a bar at night—and everything is all-inclusive, which felt truly luxurious. I heard this building had been one of several purchased as part of a bulk acquisition; seeing an existing building revitalized into such a lovely Accommodation really impressed me. I stayed at an excellent price thanks to an opening promotion, but even their regular rates make sense considering that everything is all-inclusive. The young staff members provided attentive hospitality throughout my stay, making it truly wonderful. Thank you very much for taking such great care of me.

    A Hotel designed for an enjoyable stay

    As someone who loves Hotels like SHIROIYA in Maebashi and Matsumoto Jujo in Matsumoto, I had a wonderful stay at this renovated Hotel with “tea” as its concept—it fully lived up to my expectations. Thank you very much. In particular, I enjoyed a wide variety of teas and traditional Japanese sweets during my stay, and the non-alcohol pairing with dinner was excellent. On the way home, I stopped by “Chaseki” in Gora and bought some delicious Japanese black tea as a souvenir. I also thought it would be great if the Hotel sold tea and traditional Japanese sweets as well. If I may make one request: if the Room has a free-flowing Onsen bath, I would appreciate having bathrobes available.

    I’m posting because I don’t agree with the 4.26 Review rating.

    We booked the Early Bird 90 plan at a great rate, and with a room featuring an open-air bath plus an inclusive course dinner and several kinds of drinks, the value for money was outstanding. As my companion is visually impaired, we have recently been traveling around Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Chiba, and Yamanashi, and the food here was high quality. The paired drinks included many unusual selections as well, which left a strong impression. The tofu rice porridge at breakfast was also a first-time experience for us. There is no TV in the room, but it wasn’t an issue at all and we were able to relax comfortably. There was also a stylish pot for enjoying tea, though the instructions were a bit hard to understand and it took us some time to figure out how to use it. If possible, we would have appreciated having bathrobes available.

    Relax and unwind at your leisure.

    I was intrigued by the tea-focused concept, so I decided to visit. The surrounding area has many retreat facilities and few shops, making it ideal for anyone who wants to stay in and relax at the Accommodation all day. After checking in at 1:00 PM, I joined a tea ceremony. In a modern tea room, we listened to the staff’s explanations while enjoying carefully brewed tea and handmade Japanese sweets. Every pairing was delicious, and I truly fell in love with the world of tea. The lounge, available 24 hours a day, also offered different teas and dried sweets depending on the time, so I could unwind with a book at my own pace. Dinner exceeded my expectations in both portion size and flavor. I also appreciated being able to choose either alcoholic or non-alcoholic pairings. Having an Onsen bath in the Room was another highlight—I could soak anytime without worrying about others. The tofu rice porridge at breakfast was also excellent. I would love to return again.

    It was a very disappointing experience that fell far short of my expectations.

    I’m writing this Review so that future guests considering this Accommodation won’t end up feeling the same way I did: I never want to stay here again. First of all, the service is unbelievably poor. Despite claiming to be a luxury Hotel, the overall service level of the staff is worse than a casual izakaya. Specifically, the Room guidance was careless; even when drinks were brought to us, staff couldn’t explain what they were; they forgot to explain the dishes and even said “What was it again?” right in front of us. Although there were many staff members, it felt as if training was completely lacking. (Each issue involved a different staff member.) As for the Room itself, I’m not sure if the walls are thin, but outside noise came straight into the Room. Because of that, we couldn’t relax at all and ended up sleep-deprived. On top of that, no one asked about ingredients we can’t eat, and while we were still eating they silently cleared our plates without saying anything. Lastly, while tea and Japanese sweets may be part of their concept, there was no consideration for caffeine or similar concerns. At dinner in particular, I feel they should either offer lower-caffeine options or at least mention it to guests. The service and Facility/amenities were nowhere near worth the price. It honestly made me think we would have been better off staying at an ordinary Business Hotel instead. We visited for our wedding anniversary, so receiving this kind of service was extremely disappointing.

    Not only is the tea delicious, but also

    I stayed here for an Onsen trip. I really enjoyed the calm, cohesive atmosphere—exposed concrete with Japanese-style interior design, the lobby’s incense and bell-like sounds, and more. The theme was “tea,” and even someone neutral like me could appreciate how delicious it was. The tea experience course is authentic, so I highly recommend it. The meals were of course excellent, and the breakfast in particular was a gentle, body-friendly menu that I truly appreciated right after waking up. For dinner, I was grateful that they recommended alcohol and served everything to us. The open-air bath in the Room was a little on the cooler side, but it suited me perfectly and I used it many times. I’d love to visit again in winter. Thank you very much.

    A secluded adults-only retreat devoted to tea

    Starting with the sweets served upon arrival, the tea presentations were wonderful at every time of day, and everything was delicious. I recommend checking in at 1:00 PM so you can enjoy the tea and sweets for longer. Even though it’s all-inclusive, it’s not just “everything available”—it was great that the offerings were carefully selected to match the Hotel’s concept. At dinner, tea was subtly incorporated into the dishes, and each non-alcoholic pairing also featured tea—surprising, fun, beautifully presented, and above all delicious. When I asked about various menu items (the printed menu is scheduled to be completed soon), the head chef kindly showed me it in the morning, which I really appreciated. The Room had a calm yet refined atmosphere and was lovely. The lounge was similarly serene and comfortable; both spaces felt very relaxing. I also loved unwinding in the in-Room Onsen—completely satisfied! All of the staff were very pleasant, making this a truly wonderful Hotel. I’d love to return again.

    The Room is too small.

    Rather than a renovation, it felt like the place had been stripped down to the bare structure with only minimal interior finishing. The concrete floor was covered with carpet, and the ceiling was exposed concrete like under a railway overpass, making it unbearably cold. It felt like the concept was being pushed too strongly. The quality of the hot spring water in the bath was good.

    A Modern Accommodation to Enjoy Tea

    This is a modern Hotel where concrete and greenery blend beautifully. With no TV, you can enjoy a luxurious, quiet moment with tea and Japanese sweets while gazing at the stunning mountain ridgelines. In the concept rooms with an open-air bath, you can also soak in perfectly heated Onsen water while taking in the mountain views. The meals are also excellent. Watching dishes being finished right in front of you at the live kitchen is fun, and everything tastes great. Drinks are all-inclusive and served to match each course (refills available, and you can choose alcoholic or non-alcoholic options). The tofu rice porridge at breakfast is delicious as well. Dinner takes over two hours and is very filling, so I recommend leaving some time between it and Kaei! I had heard Kaei would be small sweets, but the three kinds of sweets felt quite substantial (and three types of tea are served as well). What was disappointing this time was that although we were supposed to receive an email from the Accommodation after our Reservation to arrange dinner time, it never arrived—so we couldn’t choose a time and ended up with 17:30—and the staff were not aware of this situation. Regarding not receiving the email, I accepted it because the staff member who called apologized politely. Of course I’m not asking for anything to “make up for it,” but at check-in, when Kaei ended up being right before dinner and I was unsure whether to give it up, being told something like “It’s fully booked so it’s not possible” felt very disappointing given that there was fault on their side as well. Aside from that person, everyone was attentive down to even small details, and we had a wonderful stay. This is just my impression, but because of features like concrete design elements, no large public bathhouse-style bath area, and dining at higher counters, I feel it may be better suited for younger guests. There isn’t much around nearby and access isn’t particularly convenient either, but it felt perfect for an escape from everyday life. I think this Accommodation is recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy a different kind of Hakone trip.

    I was surprised by the charcoal and tea concept.

    Perhaps because it has just opened, there was no guidance from the bus stop and no map. The pairing of tea and sweets was delightful, and dinner was cooked right in front of us and was very delicious. The drink pairing was also excellent, and we really enjoyed it. It feels like a concept aimed at younger guests, but it also felt fresh to older guests. One thing: since this is Gora Onsen, I would have liked a shared bath (large public bath) rather than only an in-Room bath.

    Adults-only all-inclusive

    I was drawn in by the fact that it’s newly opened and advertised as all-inclusive, so I decided to stay here. It’s about a 40-minute bus ride from Hakone-Yumoto Station. The area feels like it may still be under development, and perhaps because it’s new, Google Maps showed a different property name. Some of the exterior plants were withered, which made me a bit worried, but the interior had a clean concrete-style design and was very beautiful. After the staff’s kind explanation, we joined the tea ceremony. In a quiet space, we enjoyed tea and sweets over about 30 minutes. The Room also has Onsen water, so it was great to soak without worrying about anyone else. You can enjoy an industrial atmosphere with exposed concrete ceilings along with Japanese-style interior decor. However, my partner mentioned there was an exposed pipe next to the bed with some dripping water. There was no real harm, and since it’s reasonably priced compared to a certain ultra-luxury Ryokan nearby, we could overlook it. Although it isn’t highlighted much officially, dinner was outstanding above all else. You enjoy a pairing of creative French cuisine and tea cocktails (drinks are included in the course) over about two hours. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted, and the portions were slightly small—just right for savoring everything slowly. Since I’m pregnant, I asked for everything to be cooked through, and they kindly accommodated my request; I really appreciated it. Honestly there aren’t any places to eat out nearby outside the Facility area, so I recommend adding dinner. Before or after your meal as well, there is also a nighttime event where you can enjoy cocktails (non-alcoholic options available), which is fun. When you hear “all-inclusive,” you might imagine being able to eat nonstop 24 hours a day; however here it means you can have some kind of tea available 24 hours a day. You can also have rakugan sweets, but fresh Japanese confectionery such as nerikiri is only served during the tea ceremony. It’s Japanese tea only, so I recommend bringing your own coffee or black tea if you want those. In the Room there were free beers for each guest plus some unique juices in cans and bottles (also free). There were more soft drinks than we could possibly finish! That said, if you drink several liters of water per day or want to fully enjoy alcohol beyond what’s provided, it seems best to stock up in advance. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

    An Unforgettable Stay

    As a lover of tea and traditional Japanese sweets, I discovered something new and was completely satisfied. The meals were absolutely outstanding, and all the staff were very courteous. If I had to mention one thing, the open-air bath tub was square, so it would be even better if there were something to help you relax your head. I’ll definitely be back.

    I had a peaceful and relaxing stay.

    My first visit was on February 9. The day before, the Accommodation contacted me and kindly explained: 1) Due to a water outage in the Hakone area, the washbasin could not be used (they provided mineral water). 2) Because of heavy snowfall, getting to the Accommodation would be very difficult. On the day, there was no announcement when the Romancecar departed Shinjuku, but once I arrived at Hakone-Yumoto it was chaos. Most transportation within Hakone was suspended, and Yumoto Station was overflowing with people. I informed the Accommodation and shared the situation, and they told me that if I needed to cancel just in case, the Cancellation Fee would be waived. After that, I avoided the crowds at Yumoto and went back to Odawara Station. While having lunch there, I saw an update on “Hakone Navi” that the mountain railway would resume at 1:00 PM. I headed back to Yumoto Station again and made my way through extremely crowded trains—the mountain railway and cable car—to reach Sounzan Station. From there, I carefully walked along the hilly road to the Accommodation, which had turned into something like an ice rink. Somehow I arrived a little after 3:30 PM. The staff showed great concern for my safety throughout, and thanks to them I was able to start my trip. After arrival, a tea ceremony event offered three rare teas and two types of sweets—this truly calmed my nerves after such an irregular day. Then it was time for the open-air bath in my Room. The view and water quality were both excellent; I was very satisfied. The water temperature is quite hot, so adding a bit of cold water is recommended. Dinner was served in a calm restaurant with soothing lighting. I had previously seen an IKYU Review saying “the dinner portions might be small,” but it was actually quite the opposite. The 10-course French cuisine meal was not only high quality but also very filling—I honestly worried about leaving food behind. After dinner, with mostly indirect lighting in the Room—and no TV—I enjoyed a slow-paced and comfortable time. Breakfast was also served in the restaurant: tofu rice porridge with side dishes plus charcoal-grilled fish and vegetables—all gently seasoned and deeply satisfying. At checkout as well, they kindly saw me off as I began my journey home. The return trip also came with plenty of thrills—service suspensions followed by restarts and delays—but since every activity we had planned still happened as scheduled, it gets full marks from me overall. This is an Accommodation where you can spend quiet time with wonderful staff—I would love to visit again. To all staff members who provided their best hospitality despite limited water service: thank you very much. The only thing that stood out slightly was how plain and utilitarian-looking the elevator interior felt compared with how refined both the exterior appearance of this property is....

    An Accommodation you’ll want to return to

    Both the meals and the service felt well worth more than the price. It was such a wonderful stay that I almost felt it was a shame for it to be all-inclusive. Of course, compared with the very top-tier Accommodations, there are a few areas that could be improved, but I was truly impressed by this level of quality for under 100,000 yen per night. I would like to visit again after the dining menu changes.

    It was excellent.

    On the day of our stay, our Room was upgraded, and we had a very relaxing stay in a Room with an open-air bath. At the tea lounge, a variety of teas and sweets were available, which we enjoyed along with the views of Hakone. The meals were also very delicious, and the service from the staff was excellent. We would love to stay again if we have another opportunity. Thank you very much.

    It was my first time staying here.

    Although this Accommodation has only recently opened, the staff service and the quality of the meals are excellent. However, the Room was far too dark, and I would have liked a chair and a mirror in the shower booth. It was also disappointing that there is no large public bath. After breakfast, I would like some fruit or similar options. At dinner, the Accommodation’s tea-focused concept requires guests to adapt to it, which honestly felt somewhat questionable. If you promote an all-inclusive tea lounge as well, I would appreciate it being better stocked and more substantial. There are various areas that still feel lacking if you want to build repeat guests. I have stayed at many Accommodations in Hakone, but unfortunately I won’t be able to make another Reservation next time.
