They were extremely attentive, and the meals, views, and Onsen were all outstanding!

We always stay here when traveling with three generations, and we truly appreciate your hospitality. (It also feels nostalgic because my father worked here back in the Kanpo days!) Since the renovation, it has become even more comfortable for children, and we made more wonderful memories again this time. As part of the summer vacation program, our kids were thrilled right after arrival with the cardboard maze and the guests-only soft-serve ice cream and ice pops! At dinner, there were also summer-only treats like chocolate bananas and shaved ice—like a fun festival. They were set up so they couldn’t be seen from our seats at first, so after the kids finished their meal and we told them about it, they happily went to get some. We really like that both breakfast and dinner are served at the table rather than buffet-style, so we can relax and enjoy our meal. The dishes used Yaizu sashimi and rice, and we could feel the care put into the food. And we were absolutely full!!! The Onsen water quality has been great for years, and my mother and daughter were able to relax together. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and had a welcome little visitor (a cicada)! The kids loved it (it was gone by morning). The staff at the front desk and shop were kind and helpful as well—this is a Hotel where we can feel safe and comfortable. If there were a Room that could accommodate six people, that would be perfect; from next time we will need to book two rooms. We would be very happy if there were an option where everyone could stay together. Thank you again for your continued support.

    Shizuoka-Exclusive Beer

I decided to stay one more night before heading back to Chiba, so I went to Kamenoi Hotel Yaizu. As soon as I arrived, I headed straight to the coin laundry—being able to do laundry is so convenient. At the restaurant, the manager recommended a Shizuoka-only beer. They said it is delivered from a nearby brewery, and the fresh beer was truly delicious. They also carefully select local Yaizu ingredients. I’m not usually a fan of bonito, but the “rare bonito cutlet” was amazingly good. The grilled salted tuna collar at breakfast was also impressive. I accidentally spilled soy sauce from the sashimi and wiped it up with my hand towel, which turned completely black. A male foreign staff member noticed and quietly handed me a new towel saying, “Here you go.” I was very happy that he noticed—thank you very much. I’d love to visit again for the delicious beer and Yaizu seafood.

    About the service level

I was looking forward to our stay with my pregnant wife and young child, but unfortunately it didn’t feel worth the price. First, there was no guidance at the drop-off area, and we were told to carry our own luggage even with a pregnant guest and a child. For 60,000 yen, I believe this is a basic level of service that should normally be provided. Our child usually goes to bed at 19:30, so we requested dinner at 17:30, but we were told that request had not been received, which made for a very disappointing start to the stay. (We received a call in advance about our child’s meal—so I also wonder why they didn’t confirm the dinner time then.) On the other hand, the restaurant food was fairly good and there was a playground, which I do appreciate. The Room had no bath—only a toilet. Compared with other Ryokan and Hotel stays at the same price point, the service level felt quite low.

An Accommodation You’ll Want to Return To

The meals were delicious, and we also appreciated the complimentary late-night soba service. However, it was a bit difficult to adjust the temperature of the open-air bath in the Room when using it consecutively. Also, although we informed you in advance about a shellfish allergy, the tea snack was bonito-flake rice crackers (containing shrimp). We would have appreciated more consideration outside of the dining area as well.

A Satisfying First Half of Golden Week

Thank you for taking care of us for two nights. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay. At check-in, there happened to be fewer guests, so the staff assisted us very politely. Room: Since it was after the reopening renovation, the Room was finished with good taste. I work in the construction field, so I tend to notice these things more than others, and it was a clean, well-executed finish. Bath: The view from the 8th-floor observation bath was wonderful and we really enjoyed it. However, I would have liked to see items such as the mirrors by the tub renovated as well. The lockers can be locked, which is great, but they were stiff and difficult to insert/operate. My wife mentioned that in the women’s bath there were only three dressing tables, so it took time and she wished there were more. Meals: We chose the special kaiseki course. It cost a little more, but both the taste and dishes were satisfying. The international trainees also provided service no different from Japanese staff members, which was great. We also appreciated that during our Multiple Night Stay they made sure breakfast and dinner menus did not overlap on consecutive days. One thing that bothered me was when a staff member asked whether our beef teppan-yaki for two people was abalone—after that I couldn’t stop thinking about abalone (lol). Regarding coffee service at breakfast: I think it would be even better if we could drink it in the dining venue as well. I usually have coffee even with Japanese meals. Overall: If someone asked me for a recommendation, I would definitely recommend this Accommodation without hesitation.

    The view was great.

The Room was on the 3rd floor; during the day we enjoyed views including the ocean, and at night the night scenery was also great. The Onsen was a bit small and simple for a facility of this size, but it wasn’t inconvenient. The meals were Japanese cuisine, which I like. They weren’t overly creative or gimmicky, used plenty of local ingredients, and I also appreciated that they didn’t force in “signature” specialties. The rice was Shizuoka Koshihikari and was delicious at both dinner and breakfast. There was a free cold-water dispenser, which is reassuring for those who want to drink plenty of water. All the staff were kind, and we had a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much.
