I’d love to visit Awaji Island again and stay at Senshin Waho.
We took our first family trip to Awaji Island to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our wedding anniversary. We chose this Accommodation because we love Onsen, and above all, we were drawn to the name “Senshin Waho.” After staying here, it truly became a place we thought, “We absolutely want to come back the next time we visit Awaji Island.” When we arrived, the staff kindly carried our luggage from the car. While listening to the soothing sound of wind chimes, we were served blended tea, and orange juice for our child. Just as we had seen in Reviews, everyone’s hospitality was outstanding. My husband was delighted and said it was “the best Accommodation I’ve ever stayed at,” which made me happy too. Our Room had a beautiful ocean view. Simply watching the sea made all our everyday fatigue melt away. Dinner featured many dishes that truly captured Awaji Island, and everything was delicious. Since it was my husband’s birthday, they even prepared a celebration plate for him. Thank you so much for that and for all your warm thoughtfulness. And then the Onsen we had been looking forward to: a rare free-flowing natural hot spring on Awaji Island. There was chlorination and heating, but no added water. There was no noticeable chlorine smell, and the water felt soft and gentle on the skin. The amenities were also from SYMPURTE—one of my favorites. The large public bath even had hair oil available, and their original shampoo/conditioner as well as face & body soap had a pleasant aroma that didn’t overpower the Onsen atmosphere. They provided slippers and yukata for our child, and at meals they arranged seating in a tatami room rather than at the counter. They also noticed that I’m left-handed, and even at breakfast the next morning they quietly accommodated me with thoughtful attention. Every detail of their care meant so much—it really showed how closely the staff pay attention to each guest. Onsen quality, amenities, service, cleanliness, meals—everything exceeded our expectations. The beach just a short walk from the Accommodation was wonderful too: not crowded at all. We collected sea glass with our child and watched the sunset—those simple moments became cherished memories of our trip. The baths were never crowded either; most of the time there were only one or two people there besides us, so we could relax comfortably. This is an Accommodation that makes us want not only to return to Awaji Island again—but specifically to stay at Senshin Waho again. Thank you very much.

The food is amazing... but...
I came for the August conger eel and enjoyed the conger eel kaiseki. It was outstanding. It reminded me again how delicious the conger eel from Nushima is. However, this was the women’s bath in the large public bath, and the drainage from the washing area was overflowing with soap scum—it was disgusting. It was still in the 4 p.m. hour, so I believe it had just opened. Someone came to clean afterward, but they didn’t apologize; they just removed hair and such, rinsed it away, and left. Because the hot water felt slippery, I was afraid of slipping on the tiles. There were hair dryers in the changing Room, but there were no combs, toner, or lotion, which was inconvenient. On top of that, my slippers were gone and only stretched-out slippers that were hard to wear were left behind. I immediately asked the front desk to replace them, but they said they didn’t have slippers like those in my Room and left another pair of the same hard-to-wear slippers. At night when I went to brush my teeth, there was no toothbrush—only four toothpaste packets. Surprised, I called the front desk. They promptly brought a bag containing a dental set: four toothbrushes and four toothpaste packets. When checking out, I asked whether Room amenities are fully replaced each time; they said yes. If so, thinking that what was in my Room had been leftovers from previous guests made me feel uncomfortable. The dinner and breakfast were both very delicious and the staff were kind and wonderful, so it was very disappointing that everything else was like this.

It was truly refreshing and uplifting.
The Facility was very new and spotless, and the staff’s hospitality was wonderful. We were able to refresh ourselves, and both my spouse and I were truly delighted. Since COVID ended, the way Japanese Ryokan operate has been changing with the times, which has sometimes felt a bit sad; however, at this Accommodation, we felt that the younger staff are carrying on Japan’s unique spirit of hospitality. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Awaji Island.

We stayed here on our way back from a trip to Hiroshima. The staff were very welcoming, and we were able to relax and enjoy a restful stay. The meals were also delicious. Next time, I would like to visit again with my wife.

Good.
I saw Mr. Wakata on TV and had been hoping to stay here someday. I had business in Tokushima Prefecture, so I stayed here on my way back. Perhaps because it is a new Accommodation, the Room was very clean, and I was very satisfied with the meals as well. If I have the opportunity, I would like to stay again.

Beautiful Accommodation
This was a trip for two with my mother. As her legs and hips have grown weaker, she no longer wants to go to the Onsen even when staying at a Hotel, so this time we stayed in a detached Room with an in-room Onsen. All the staff were very courteous, and everything—from meal timing to service—ran smoothly. The meals were excellent, especially the conger eel dishes. The open-air bath in the Room had almost no steps, so my mother was able to use the Onsen smoothly on her own. We would definitely like to stay again.

A relaxing accommodation
The staff provide excellent service. It’s clear that the owner is a staffing company. The Facility renovation was also flawless. If I had to mention one thing, the windows and balcony were dirty. Since the view is a key selling point, it felt like a missed opportunity. It’s an Accommodation I’d like to visit again.

Japanese-style Accommodation
During our trip to Awaji Island, we stayed at Senshin Waho. We were told it has been about a year since the renovation. I did not know the previous Accommodation, but we visited to enjoy the Onsen and the cuisine. The Onsen was truly wonderful. I do not know the exact water quality, but it was pleasantly hot and very soothing. The Room still has the charm of the older building, yet it felt fresh and updated, which was nice. The cuisine we had been looking forward to—made with local Awaji ingredients—was good, though I hoped for just a little more creativity. The tableware was excellent. There were also various ceramics and paintings throughout the Accommodation—perhaps reflecting the owner’s taste. While there were a few points about hospitality and service that stood out, we were able to relax while gazing at the calm sea of Awaji Island. Thank you very much.

The views were stunning, and the food was absolutely delicious.
The food was delicious, and the views at this Ryokan were wonderful. We were lucky to have great weather, and we could watch the sun slowly set from our Room, enjoying a truly luxurious time. We stayed in a detached guesthouse with an open-air bath, and the open-air bath was extremely relaxing—an Onsen lover like me was genuinely satisfied with the stay. The staff were also very pleasant and welcoming. One small thing: from where the chair was placed in the Room, it was a little hard to see the TV. Even so, it was an excellent Accommodation, and a Ryokan I would love to visit again.

Pre-birthday celebration—absolutely satisfying
We decided to stay at this Accommodation, which only opened last year, to celebrate our pre-birthday together as a couple. Apparently, that day was right after the opening reception for the Japanese garden in front of the Accommodation entrance. The garden had just been laid with new turf, and it felt fresh and new. The glamorous lobby displayed glass artworks and Awaji Ningyo Joruri puppets. Our detached Room with an open-air bath was spacious and relaxing, with a private garden and ocean views. I was a bit surprised by the large marble sink in the washroom (a little hard to use). The rock open-air bath in the Room was fed directly from the hot spring source, so I couldn’t stop soaking in it. The in-Room refrigerator (free) had mineral water and soda inside. It would have been even nicer if it also included Awaji beer (please consider it). The large public bath was also free-flowing from the source and very nice, but I thought it would be great to have chairs by the open-air bath for cooling down. On my way back from the public bath to our detached Room, I got a bit confused, so clearer signage along the corridor (e.g., “This way to detached Rooms”) would be helpful. When I looked lost, an employee attending a Pasona training session kindly guided me (thank you). My husband also said he got turned around after check-in when he went out to take photos of the garden and lobby. Meals were themed around “fermentation,” using fresh local ingredients, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. We also appreciated the staff’s warm smiles and attentive service. We’d love to stay again.

It was unexpectedly good.
First of all, the meals were truly delicious. Not only the flavors, but also the presentation, colors, plates, and bowls—everything felt thoughtfully planned as a whole. Since the location isn’t well-known, I had assumed it might be average, but it pleasantly surprised me (in a good way). You could really feel the chef’s skill and aesthetic sense. Our Room was in a detached building. The open-air Onsen bath in the Room was absolutely amazing. It was my first time experiencing such a luxurious Onsen space in an in-room bath. It’s on the west side of Awaji Island, and there aren’t many tourist spots nearby. I assume the Accommodation Fee is lower than in famous tourist areas, but for the price, the overall quality was excellent. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax at a Ryokan.

A wonderful hidden gem Accommodation
It may not be widely known yet, but this was a wonderful Accommodation that I believe will become very popular and hard to book in the future. The free-flowing Onsen from the source, the delicious food carefully prepared with attention to the basics, and above all, the staff were exceptionally warm and wonderful. The amenities were also excellent. I would love to visit again in a different season.

The food was disappointing.
Many of the meals were pre-prepared and didn’t feel fresh.

Simply wonderful.
Since it’s not widely known yet, there may be only a few Reviews, but the meals are delicious, the Room is wonderful, and it’s a Hotel that truly makes you glad you stayed. I chose the standard type Room, and the in-room bath was made of hinoki cypress. The refrigerator was stocked free of charge with cider, lemon squash, and water. The coffee was made with a Nespresso machine, and the Room was spacious enough. The staff’s service was also excellent, so I added it to my list of “Hotels I want to stay at because they’re outstanding” for the first time in a while. I’d like to make this my regular Accommodation when I go golfing on Awaji Island. If you’re visiting Awaji Island, please try staying here at least once—I don’t think you can go wrong.
